DESCRIPTION
The Malfeasance-class corvette is a vessel used by the Sith Empire primarily for patrol and picket duty. Produced by the government-owned Imperial Fleet Works, the Malfeasance is swift, well made and well equipped for its intended duties, and is seen across the Empire. In practical terms, it is the most commonly seen class of vessel in the fleet, being a major component of many local garrison forces, as well as serving as a long-range patrol ship covering remote regions of the Empire. It of course also serves along-side many larger, arguably more prestigious vessels.

The Malfeasance is meant primarily to go up against small to intermediate sized craft, and is armed accordingly. 10 fast-firing dual autoblaster turrets - 5 on each side - are used to engage smaller, more maneuverable targets such as starfighters, while its 5 medium laser turrets - located 4 ventral, 1 dorsal - are used to engage slower-moving targets such as light freighters and starbombers. The largest opponents a Malfeasance is designed to face are pirate ships, which tend not to be well armed or shielded in comparison to military vessels, despite their similar size. Malfeasance-class ships are also equipped with a small hangar, which can accommodate a single shuttle and a pair of snubfighters.

Malfeasance-class corvettes are often used for long-range independent patrols, often of poorly settled backwater regions with limited infrastructure. Accordingly, such vessels are equipped with long-range sensor and comm systems, allowing them to "see" further and remain in contact with often distant authorities.

Malfeasance-class vessels are not really intended to go up against other capital ships, but are excellent commerce raiders and anti-piracy vessels, and are a good support class for vessels which do not possess their own anti-starfighter defenses. These vessels are also often used as a means of force-projection and reprimand against low-priority targets; many a rebellious backwater agriworld has had its villages strafed by a Malfeasance and its starfighters.

LEGALITY
Restricted. Malfeasance-class corvettes are common enough, but are considered capital warships, generally making them illegal for civilian ownership. Almost all extant examples are also property of the Sith Empire.

INTENT
To create a standard type of corvette used by the Imperial fleet.

ADVANCED TECH
Yes. Malfeasance-class corvettes are not trivial to buy, steal or otherwise acquire, and it would take a plot to do so.
