Dorann seat stiffly in the seat of the Grand Imperator in his citadel's throne room. He'd spent so many days and nights in this hall, overseeing and presiding upon political cases and hearings. His tasks as the leader of the Chiss were everything but relaxing. This was an ever pressing responsibility of leadership, pushing Dorann's limits in the mind further than he'd ever experienced. This empire, this Ascendancy, had ruled his concentration, and devoted all his time and effort in the passing months. It seemed like decades... Kodo'ran'nuruodo sacrificed so much of his own in leading the Chiss from their stagnation, put what was his on the line and lost it all, to maintain the stability of his nation. His people.

His own wife, abandoned him in the night to escape the bureaucratic environment they laid trapped in. It was as if they were enclosed in an encased box, wandering the citadel as hamsters in their daily duties, yet their safety and dedication was not enough. Dorann's life as a Grand Marshall, as he was before the forming of the Council of Eminence, was bearable, but the constant stress of the Chiss's management enslaved the Chiss. His awareness of his previous reality was all but nonexistent.

It wasn't until three nights prior when he'd come to realize the truth. This position of power, to lead the Chiss as a people of power, was draining his humanity. The mantle of Grand Imperator, was not a burden he could uphold for long. If he remained, it would be only a year at best, before he lost all sense of who he used to be. That was not a path he wanted, not a future the Chiss had in store for his own destiny. No, he would continue to contribute to their glory, leading his forces in the battle once more as he used to, but no longer as their true leader.

"My people of the Chiss Ascendancy," Dorann began, addressing his nation as a whole to the holonet broadcaster. "Since the creation of the Council of Eminence, we have prospered and fortified our people as a stronghold of power. We have expanded across the border of the Unknown Regions, and even upheld the sophistication among our prisoners of war. It with this success of our people, stabilizing our nation and establishing our territory, that I fulfill a promise I made to you all form the beginning," he spoke to them. The Chiss felt tired, worn out. His eyes drifted slightly to the side as he thought about what he would say next, but it was only a moment before he continued.

"My time as the Grand Imperator has come to an end. I was, and always have been, nothing more than a temporary leader. My goal was to bring our people to a strengthened position, an we are now a nation of pride and honor. We are Chiss, and are a force to be reckoned with in all regard, in might or cunning," Dorann told them suddenly filled with a ferocity of valor. "I will not abandon you. You are my people, and those who I have held as the largest priority in the council's affairs. I will remain your Imperator until a new leader is elected. I will see to it that only one of true integrity and dedication to the Chiss is charged with this responsibility. It is with this declaration that I leave you tonight, dearest Chiss. It has been my honor to be at the head of our empire, and my privilege to ensure the civil society in which we live."

With that, the Chiss ended the holonet address and stood from the seat, looking across the vast lobby of the Citadel Palace. He took a deep sigh and stepped forward, heading to the large pair of pillars next to the exit, leading to his personal ship. As he took his final step from the hall, he never looked back, and Kodo'ran'nuruodo, was the Grand Imperator no more.
