A red speeder soared above the labyrinth of towers and buildings on the Smuggler’s Moon. Navigating through the ship traffic on the lane Kuro Sawa who was behind the wheel made a left turn.

Inside the vehicle with him was the Trianil muscle Kholvar and the Rodian thug Preef. He barely knew the duo saved one or two interactions. Sometimes when one gets hired for a job they don’t get to pick who they pair with. I don’t need to know their sad stories. As long as they do their part this should be an easy score.

Keeping that in mind as he dived the speeder to lower levels Kuro spoke up. “Alright boys let’s go over the job. There a Klatooinian gang that call themselves the Pack. I know, not very original.”

Shrugging his shoulders while keeping both eyes in front of him Kuro continued.

“Anyway it’s been discovered that these mongrels are conspiring against the Syndicates. So in exchange for wiping out their little band we get to divide the credits they have stored among ourselves.”

The speeder finally descend on a mostly empty and derelict street. Once it was done the human outlaw readied his blaster rifle before turning to the others behind him. “If you have questions be quick about it. Time is credits.”

The rodian's small stature was further diminished by the giant cat that sat next to him on the back seat. The smell off wet and unwashed fur was predominant and yet Preef didn't dare to complain to the person who when they first met had held a blaster to the poor rodian's head. He also hadn't dared to say no when the Triani told him he was to accompany them on this robbery.

Attacking an entire gang of ambitious gunslingers was one the stupidest things Preef could think of. Outright suicidal and for what? About as much credits as he could make robbing someone's home. Less risk, more reward. But no, the giant cat was too intimidating and the rodian, uncomfortable as he was in his blast vest, was quietly enduring his own cowardice.

"Is there a back entrance?" he asked the human as he pulled out his own blaster pistol, being careful to avoid looking at the cat. "Its only the three of us?"

They were most likely going to be outnumbered and outgunned, so with any luck the cat would catch a bolt or two and Preef could get the kriff out in time. One could only hope.

A lone sentry had been smoking a cigarra outside when the speeder descended, but one look at the human's rifle and the cat's sheer size and he rushed inside. That was the element of surprise.. and it was gone.

The backseat of the speeder was.. less than desirable. Kholvar was a large man and backseats weren't generally made for large men, especially when you shoved another person back there too. Granted, Preef was a slight guy, but Kholvar didn't really enjoy being in such close proximity to a kriffing Rodian of all things. Oh well, Preef seemed to listen when commanded, a rare trait among criminals in the 5S. He was worth keeping around.

"Don't worry so much, Preef." Kholvar said, rolling his eyes slightly. "Klatooinians look like dogs and they're about as stupid as dogs too. There's a reason their whole species have been Hutt servants for millennia."

The element of surprise would have been nice, but it wasn't required for the group to complete their task. Plus, Kholvar always enjoyed a full frontal assault over sneaky business anyway.

Reaching into his pocket, Kholvar withdrew a flashbang grenade he brought on the off chance they needed to do some breaching. Looks like his instincts were right, as usual. Approaching the door that the sentry had retreated through, Kholvar primed the grenade and straight up kicked the door in, sending it flying off its hinges into the building. Tossing the grenade, it took a few seconds and began popping loudly and flashing with blinding light.

Having drawn his blaster and turned back to his comrades, Kholvar cocked his head towards the building with a vicious smile. "Time to take out the trash, boys. Leave no survivors. Show anyone else who thinks trying to branch out from the Syndicate what happens."

You gotta be kidding me! Is this really the same bug eye freak who helped raid that train with me on Taris? He must’ve been high on spice back then.

Kuro thought with disgust as it was visible in his expression. Kholvar the large feline on the other hand had the right assessment on the situation. However, he sighed noticing the Klatooinian sentry ran back inside having spotted them in their descend. Well that can’t be helped now. Advancing alongside the Trianii and the Rodian as they reached the door he remarked to Preef condescendingly.

“Do try not to piss your pants Bug Eyes.”

He subsequently watched as Kholvar kicked down the door and tossed the flashbang inside. Cries and curses in Huttese can be heard within the broken down den. Grinning savagely Kuro Sawa nodded at the big cat’s speech.

Without hesitation the outlaw charged inside before being greeted by the sight of a dozen or so armed Klatooinians spread out the massive room that was covered in filth. Already some had overturned tables to use as cover while others were standing behind them in the rear. Several of them grasping their faces or covering the ears having been hit by the earlier flashbang.

Within a few moments he entered Kuro opened fire at the nearest hostile. Two bolts caught the dog faced alien in the chest and fell sideways. Immediately the pack members who could see shot back causing Kuro to swear under his breath and roll to a nearby crate on the left. Blasters bolts poured on in front of his position.

“Is that all you got? You damned mongrels!”

He taunted behind the metal box despite his situation. Even so that little stunt did provide a good enough diversion for his comrades.

Someone somewhere would rue the day when not storming into a bottleneck while severely outnumbered and outgunned had become synonimous with being a coward. Preef shook his head, for he was perfectly aware he wasn't the smartest man in the syndicate, yet even he knew that the element of surprise would've worked wonders here.

Oh well, guess not. Preef followed Kuro Sawa in, making sure to first roll his eyes towards Kholvar as he passed him. Counting a good dozen Klatooinians and and muffled shouting from other rooms, the situation actually looked really dire at first glance. Aiming his blaster consecutively at two of them that were standing out of cover, still dealing with the effects of the cat-man's grenade, he shot them both with single shots.

"Use that rifle to suppress!" he shouted to the human (@Minuteman75) before turning to see if Kholvar (@Logan) had followed them in, "Got any real grenades!?"

There was no way they were going to blast themselves out before more Klatooinians showed up. What they needed was a good, big, demoralising bang.

His two partners took little time in getting down to business, what with the bolts flying and smashing into the dog faces mongrels in short order. He had to give it to Kuro, he sure reveled in all of the chaos while it seemed Preef was a little... of the opposite.

"I got one or two," Kholvar said back to Preef as he reached into one of the pockets on his belt and took out a frag grenade. Spotting a group of thugs that had hunkered down behind a piece of cover, Kholvar hucked the grenade in their general direction.

The small durasteel cylinder rolled just behind their cover and exploded in a violent flash of shrapnel. The small pieces of metal shot out in every direction, killing all five of the Klatooinians that had tried to use it as refuge.

Just as Kholvar was bringing his blaster up to fire and kill another adversary, he got blind sided by the butt-end of a blaster pistol. One of the thugs had managed to sneak into his blind spot and pistol whip him something fierce. The blow sent Kholvar reeling back for a moment before he once more got his wits about him.

Drawing his vibroknife sot hat he head a blaster in one hand and the knife in another, Kholvar spit a good amount of blood onto the ground before cracking a devilish smile, his otherwise pearly white fangs stained red.

"Make your peace, schutta. You die today." He snarled as he began to charge.

The firefight raged on and so did Kuro’s taunts. “You can’t even hit a blind Bantha!” Meanwhile his fellow Syndicate members had already slain eight out of twelve Klatooinians in the room via blaster shots and grenade. Managing to hear Preef’s suggestion despite the sheer anarchy Kuro Sawa drew up his rifle.

From the corner of his shot up cover the outlaw spotted three of the surviving Klatooinians in the back aiming for Kholvar who was charging at their comrade. Lifting himself up Sawa aimed and fired two bolts three times each. Two canines dropped dead with holes in chest areas while missing one jumped out of the way.

Swiftly the survivor shot back at Kuro. A laser shot flew past the human a few inches forcing himself. “Too damn close.” He murmured behind cover again. A moment later he slides to the right side, firing on the hostile’s position. With a pained cry the alien fell face.

Taking position on the side of another crate Kuro Sawa reloaded the blaster rifle and aimed for the hallway should more enemies pour in.

The grenade had worked wonders as hoped, forcing a delay in reinforcements through flying body parts and mangled bodies lying in plain sight of whoever was planning to join their friends in this fight. Preef was momentarily distracted as Kholvar scuffled with one of the Klatooinians, thus he turned towards the Triani's prey and pulled the trigger. The bolt hit its belly just before Kholvar would have finished his charge. Only after he'd done it he realized that he didn't know how the giant cat would react to getting help with a prey, thus he quickly turned around again and began walking towards the hallway.

"It's not too late to surrender-" he called out into the hallway in the hope they could avoid further bloodshed and risk to his own person, but his plea seemingly fell on deaf ears as multiple voice suddenly rang out in anger and desperation. "Kriff off!"

Preef almost set a foot in the hallway proper when no less than three bolts flew his way, barely missing him as he dived behind cover with an unceremonious "-yelp!" and for a moment looked fear-stricken at his two companions.. that was close.

Slowly he tried to peek again into the hallway, but was met with blaster bolts hitting the wall mere inches from face. They had him thoroughly suppressed.

Just as Kholvar was beginning to charge the asshole who punched him, the ugly Klatooinian caught a couple baster bolts in his belly and keeled over. He had to say that it was touch disappointing, but oh well. As long as the piece of dog shit was dead that was all that really mattered.

Noticing Preef heading towards the hallway, Kholvar looked up to see if there was any way he could get the drop on anyone who might be trying to hole up. The barrage of blaster bolts that screamed towards Preef and make him scream like a girl seemed to confirm that indeed trying to go head first was a bad idea.

Spotting another door, Kholvar thought it might be a second hallway that could wrap around and he could get behind whoever was shooting at Preef. Heading over to it, Kholvar fired his blaster a couple times on a few Klatooinians that were in between where he was and where he wanted to go.

When he got to the door, it seemed to be locked. Rolling his eyes, Kholvar shouted to his comrades. "Stay lively friends, it's gonna take a minute to get through here."

Finding a large piece of rebar, Kholvar used his considerable strength to jam it hard in the crease between the two doors. With his tremendous weight, the large Trianii started to apply leverage, the door slowly but surely starting to pry open. Hopefully Preef and Kuro could keep him from getting shot in the back in the meantime.

Kuro stood up from his cover and advanced cautiously. While never having served in any form of military he had been taught a few points by a mentor who had been an ex-soldier. The old man was an ugly bastard but he sure knew how to fight.

He kept away from the hallway watching Preef try to appeal to hidden hostiles who answered back violently. When the Rodian squealed in terror as the blaster bolts by and looked, Kuro chuckled at the sight.

“Maybe you should’ve thrown them a bone or something Bug Boy.”

Suppressing another laugh he followed right behind Kholvar. The large feline was proving to be a leader the human bandit noted to himself. Kuro checked the corners and the rear making sure they won’t be flank while Kholvar shoot at the defenders in his sight.

Keeping some distance away as the slaver worked on the door Kuro Sawa turned around, facing the back and stood guard.

Preef shot a dirty look at the human. He didn't know why, but apparently the scoundrel was very much intent on insulting him, this having been the second time already. Humans had a track record of being specist pieces of bantha poodoo, but this one was getting on the rodian's nerves more than the Klatoonians. Still, aside from the glance at the back of the human's head, Preef didn't show it and instead fired blindly three times into the hallway. "You kriffers pissed off the wrong syndicate!" the rodian yelled into the hallway between blaster barrages, "Hutts did say you were dumb!"

While he was busy yelling, Preef turned his head to observe the Trianii's progress on the door and for a moment was allowed a small breather. His heartrate was through the roof, which was good, for sure, because the moment a blasterfight didn't get your adrenaline pumping you'd be dead and Preef very much preferred to live another forty years or more. His mind then drifted to the Trianii and Preef's...admiration for him. He had seen him before in the Moist Mirakula before their unlucky meeting which had Preef looking into the barrel of Kholvar's blaster because he mistook him for another rodian. One would think that would create hostility, yet now they could both laugh about it... although Kholvar could probably always laugh at that and Preef was the only one who needed a moment to alter his perspective on the furbag.

Snapping out of his desire to form a posse around Kholvar Varaxes, the young rodian refocused on the hallway and fired into it once more. "Surrender!"

It didn't take long for Kholvar to force the door open, pushing his massive weight and using the science of leverage to get the durasteel to part. Peering through, it seemed that his instincts had been correct after all, and the door lead to another hallway that wrapped around to the thugs Preef was shouting at.

Gripping his blaster, Kholvar started moving down the hall, doing his best to keep quiet but also trying to slink as fast as he could. The quicker he got the drop on these fools the quicker he could put a blaster bolt in their domes and the quicker he, Preef and Kuro could do what they came here to do.

Pulling out another flash bang grenade, Kholvar slowed his roll as he approached an L-shaped corner in the hall. Peering around, he could see where the thugs were hole up. They had taken a pretty decent defensive position but clearly they were not trained in covering all their bases. The line of site to their rear was clear, so Kholvar primed his flash bang and chucked it. It would land directly in he center of the group, unleashing its deafening and blinding payload before any of them could really react.

Kholvar had hidden his own senses behind the corner, but turned it the second after he heard the grenade go off. Aiming his pistol, Kholvar popped off a couple shots, clipping two of the gangsters in the chest and the face, killing them.

Hopefully Preef would see the sudden lack of blasters coming his way and close in, finishing off the rest. There couldn't be too many people left. All things considered, the Job was actually going fairly well. It was just time to finish up and get out with the loot.

As soon as Kuro heard the door collapse with a loud thud he turned around. Mr. Whiskers here is proving to be useful. Saved me the trouble of using a breach charge. Keeping that observation to himself he advanced after Kholvar. It didn’t take for his feline comparoit to find the Klatooinians’ little barricade.

Standing next to the white fur alien Kuro Sawa watched the former tossed a flashbang in the midst of the defenders with their backs to them. With a loud bang the dog faced thugs cried out in agony, Keeping to the corner he waited until his partner went in first, covering the corners. Just as Kholvar was killing off two of the blinded fools, Kuro opened up at another clawing at his face with two bolts.

Struck in gut the Klatooinian died before he collapsed sideways. Done, he remarked to Kholvar. “I could try to say I feel sorry for these kriffers and commend how brave they are to fight us. But that would be a lie.”

As if to make the point the outlaw spit at the corpse he just made.

Preef was sure that the loud bang actually shook the building and as the blaster fire suddenly stopped he jumped from cover and into the hallway. The blaster in his right hand went towards the first Klatooinian who was looking behind him to see how his mates were fairing and didn't realize he was shot until after he hit the floor and was rapidly dying. Blasterfire then resumed but it was entirely one-sided as Kholvar and Kuro finished off the stragglers.

Approaching his two fellow scoundrels, Preef holstered his blaster and looked around. "You're mad-" the young rodian told the human, "I may not lose sleep over this, but they were solid under pressure and could've been useful." In fact, if they hadn't had the advantage of both terrain and surprise, the three of them would've been the dead ones for sure.

Turning then to Kholvar, the rodian pointed to some of the boxes laying around. "I'm putting 100 credits on one of these boxes containing spice." he smiled at the Trianii with a boisterous air. All they had to do was grab the items worth grabbing and head off to a pawnshop first, then the Moist Mirakula second.
