When the flames hit his body, Kreet knew he had a couple seconds. However, he wasn't expecting the rush from Maerek. He got his lightsaber up at the last second, blocking multiple blows from the enemy lightsaber, but he had to deflect the lighshield with his free hand, swatting at the backings of the shield. Kreet felt the sting as part of his skin connected with the shield, but he was not dead.

Kreet could feel the fire, but the Force had surrounded his body, keeping him safe. It was also surrounding Maerek, ironically Kreet could not protect only himself, since Maerek was fighting so close. The heat was intense, but neither of them were burning. Not yet.

Kreet had a split-second thought. He released the Force, allowing the fire to engulf the both of them. He felt the fire lick his blue skin, and he focused the Force once again, using it to leap up and backwards, onto a platform above them. Kreet hoped the fire had damaged Maerek, and Kreet had to strip his top off. It had caught fire during Kreet's escape.

Looking at the platform below, he saw the fire disappearing around Maerek, and he used the Force to yank several pipelines free, hurling them at the Sith below. Kreet wasn't used to using the Force for combat, but he needed a slight distraction. Kreet had practiced using the Force to heal very thoroughly, and took a deep breath, feeling the burns on his skin fade. He needed concentration, but it would take several seconds for Maerek to catch up, and that's all the Feeorin Jedi needed.

Maerek felt the fire hit his armor after Kreet released the Force. It did little other than set his cape on fire, which he just pat out. Angry that he was making little progress in killing the Feeorin, he rared up to send a strong Force push at him, but was soon hit in the chest with a pipe. The pipe shot Maerek back and into a tumble before regaining his balance and getting up. "Quit running!" He demanded, ripping part of the platform's railing out and sending it flying towards Kreet.

Kreet swiped at the railing flying towards him, cutting it in half with his lightsaber. A stray piece of shrapnel cut his bare chest as the railing flew by him. He pulled the small piece of metal out, he could deal with that later. He was getting inside the Sith's head, and that's what mattered. Fighting isn't always a physical battle, this one would be won with mental fortitude. Kreet wasn't thrilled the fire hadn't worked, but it was a shot in the dark anyway. As long as he kept the human angry, he held a small advantage.

"I think you'd enjoy that a little too much. I have the high ground now, and your armor isn't going to help you get up here. You can make the leap if you want, but I can't promise it will end well." Kreet knew a death blow would be easier to achieve from his current position, and the shield was possibly damaged in the inferno the Sith had caused. Kreet took a deep breath, using this bit of banter to rest and catch his breath. They were both using the Force in excessive amounts, they would both wear out if they weren't careful.

Maerek had started to feel the fatigue after using the force. A faint weight on his chest was present, causing him to slightly pant. He scowled at the Feeorin, knowing he could kill him if he just jumped down and they duked it out with their weapons. His lightshield had overheated, and was faintly flickering. It would still catch a lightsaber hit, but too much damage would deactivate it.

Maerek hit his shield with his lightsaber, causing a bright spark. "The high ground doesn't guarantee a victory, coward. Come down and fight so we can quit uselessly throwing things at each other like children."

Kreet took several more breaths, steadying his heart rate. Kreet noted the flickering in the shield, and was wondering if it was broken yet, but Maerek let him know it wasn't by striking it. That was good knowledge for Kreet, and he smiled at it. He had no intention of jumping down, he won from here, and he had no reason to put himself in further danger. Even if the Sith ran at this point, Kreet wouldn't chase him. He had learned much from this battle, and could report to the Council. Gaining knowledge was a victory, and the Council would be pleased no one had been injured. The Sith were indeed working near the systems in Utapau, and this was something the Jedi did not know until now.

Kreet had healed his burns, but the blood was still flowing from the shrapnel wound. It was not severe, but it was definitely annoying. Kreet liked his blood inside his body, and he couldn't waste more energy healing himself.

"I think we both know I'm not doing that. I am Feeorin, we love to throw things. Your options are this: Surrender now and come in for questioning by the Jedi Council, or drop your shield and armor so you can make that jump. You'd be able to recover more quickly, and I probably wouldn't be able to kill you during your attempt up here." Kreet was prepared for either, this would be rather clean if the Sith gave in, and it was possible the Jedi wouldn't punish him. If Maerek gave them enough insight into the Sith's plans, he would be let go. Possibly given a clean slate.

Maerek weighed his options for a split second. He started to say something, but an idea sprang in his head. He waited for a while longer before he deactivated his lightshield and saber. He dropped his saber, spreading his arms. Under his helmet would be an evil grin. "Fine. I'll go in." Maerek had no intention of getting captured. He was going to trick the Feeorin, giving himself an edge. Hopefully.

This seemed too easy to Kreet, but Kreet DID have the Sith beaten. Maybe he was giving up. Kreet didn't see another option besides fleeing, and Maerek wasn't the retreating type. However, Kreet had to be certain before he made any moves.

"Alright, I accept your surrender. However, in order for us to proceed, you'll need to drop your helmet and chestplate, as well as your gauntlets. We can't put the stun cuffs on otherwise. After that, I'll contact the Utapaun police force and we can transport you to the Temple." Kreet wasn't sure the police would respond, they hadn't come to the scene of the fight yet, it was possible they were terrified of the two saber users. It was a necessary risk though, Kreet had to win the mental war as well. If Maerek lowered his guard further, Kreet could come down safely.

Kreet waited to see his opponent's next move. Despite his victory, Kreet knew a battle wasn't won until the war was over. Both men still had free will.

This war was not over. Not yet.

Maerek frowned under his helmet. "Damnit." He took off his helmet. "I'm not taking anything else off, allowing you to just kill me quick and easy. They aren't gauntlets, they're plates. Just put the cuffs on around my wrists."

[Sorry mate, was super busy. Replies might be rushed. Just letting you know now.]

Kreet supposed the helmet would have to do. Any chance he could get to lessen his opponent's defense. Knowing his armor was plated as opposed to separate parts let Kreet assess several things. One, it was heavier than other sets of armor, and two, stun cuffs would be more effective. Kreet took his transmitter out, relaying a short message to the Utapaun police force, letting them know he was a Jedi and that he had apprehended a Sith on their planet. Kreet told them the Sith was ready to be taken into custody. Kreet closed his communications, then jumped down to the platform below.

A layer of dust was kicked up as Kreet landed. The Sith certainly seemed at a massive disadvantage, but Kreet wasn't turning his saber off just yet. His job wasn't over until this Sith was in custody.

As soon as Kreet had pulled out his transmitter, he knew his plan worked. His face would stay calm, waiting for the Feeorin to hop down, then he did.

As soon as the Feeorin hopped down Maerek formed a grin on his face, quickly reactivating his lightshield and using the Force to throw his helmet at Kreet as fast as he could make it go. He realized this move was going to fatigue him, but he was certain it would give him an edge.

Using his weapon as a helmet was tactical. It was also unexpected. Kreet had very little time to think as the helmet rocketed toward him, so Kreet did the only thing he could do. React.

Kreet punched the helmet out of the air, keeping his lightsaber hand free. The helmet ricocheted off his right hand and spiraled into the oblivion of Utapau's sinkholes. Kreet's hand THROBBED after that punch, the helmet was solid. Still, Kreet didn't need both hands to fight, and hopefully he hadn't broken anything internally. Blood dripped off of Kreet's knuckles, adding to his other wound on his chest.

Kreet couldn't get angered by the pain. Feeorin are not rational when they're angry, and Jedi have to be rational in the field. Kreet now faced the semi-functional lightshield again, something he wasn't thrilled with. At this point, however, Kreet still had a check to this chess game. The Utapaun police were on their way. Kreet would not lose this day.

Maerek scowled after Kreet punched the helmet away, angry it didn't really hit him. He swiped his saber back up off the floor. He could feel the weight of fatigue showing it's face. He ignored it as best he could, his continued Force use starting to take it's toll. His breaths turned heavy, just like the feeling in his chest. He grabbed his lightsaber, reactivating it.

"You're going to die today, Jedi!"
Maerek growled as he started stomping towards the Feeorin, shield raised. He started hitting the ground with his lightsaber once again, sending many sparks up and off to the sides. Maerek's footsteps would be heavy and moderately quick, making sure he didn't move too fast, else he would trip and fall, ensuring his defeat... or demise. As he approached Kreet, he would stop his saber and put it back in his fighting position, ready to cleave the Feeorin in two.

Kreet shook his right hand, blood spattering the ground. He changed his stance, sliding his left foot in front of his right. Fighting in a modified position would work for a while, but he didn't need long. He took a deep breath, refocusing his energy. He could be doing much worse at the moment, but that didn't mean he was doing great. The solid armor of his opponent was starting to take a toll, his opponent was too weighed down to fight for extended periods.

This was Kreet's saving grace, and he was gladdened by Maerek's refusal to take his armor off. It would actually play to Kreet's advantage if he stalled long enough. At this point, as long as Kreet didn't die, he won. He just needed to wait for the police to arrive. Then, even if his opponent managed to escape, Kreet had ensured a victory. The police would no doubt capture footage of the Sith, and Kreet could deliver that to the Jedi.

He just had to stall.

Maerek was still panting as he reached Kreet. He started wailing at the Feeorin, but he kept up his defenses. Maerek growled and sent a kick right towards the Feeorin's side, ready to swing his lightsaber if his leg got caught.

All the while Maerek had failed to remember the Utapauan police making their way towards them. Maerek didn't have a plan for them, obviously, but he wasn't a planning type of person anyways. He would probably just slay them if they tried attacking him.

Kreet saw the kick. It was coming right for him. Unfortunately, Kreet didn't have many options. He couldn't use his good hand to stop the kick, as he'd have to cut the Sith's leg off with his saber, or risk being killed by the Sith if he turned his saber off. He wanted the Sith in one piece, so that wasn't possible. Kreet also couldn't block the kick with his right hand, as he was currently unaware if he'd broken his hand on Maerek's helmet and couldn't risk injuring himself more. So Kreet had to do the least favorable thing.

He focused as much of the Force as he could without wearing himself down to nothing, in an attempt to lessen the blow. The kick connected with Kreet's right side, forcing Kreet to stumble and exhale sharply. He didn't hear any of his ribs crack, but that didn't make it any more comfortable. Kreet attempted to catch his breath, deflecting a saber strike towards his other side. They were both in poor condition, Kreet could tell. Kreet might be faring slightly better at the moment, but getting kicked a couple more times would most likely put him on the permanent defensive.

Kreet stood tall, taking an offensive one-handed stance. He started to attack earnestly, if he could force Maerek to spend the rest of his energy while fighting off Kreet's strikes, maybe he'd simply pass out. Kreet swung his right hand out, rattling some debris located behind Maerek. There was plenty of damage done to the immediate area, and their fight had left a lot of broken pieces of the architecture lying around. Kreet pulled his hand in, rocketing the debris towards the back of Maerek's legs.

Maerek's breaths got slightly heavier with every passing thing he did, the weight of his armor showing it's weakness now. It was weighing him down, but that was the price to pay for the kind of protection it offers. The kick seemed to work in his favor, if only for a moment. He swung his blade, but Kreet's defenses held up and stopped it. Maerek was about to swing again when he saw the Feeorin's hand shoot out.

Maerek heard the rattle of the debris and knew there was something flying towards him. He attempted to jump backwards and over them, but was caught in the back of his leg with a piece of debris, causing him to land on his back. Marek growled in anger and heated up the air in his left hand again, shooting more fire at the Feeorin. After his fire stopped, Maerek felt the weight on his chest jump as if the Feeorin himself was standing on his chest.

Kreet felt the heat before he really knew what had happened. The debris had performed well, Maerek was on the ground. Kreet won, it would be impossible for Maerek to stand back up without exposing himself to a death blow. He had these thoughts before realizing Maerek had spent the last of his energy to once again summon his fire. Kreet could stop it, he could use the Force to shield himself from the flame. If he did, however, he would be in the same spot as Maerek, collapsed on the ground.

Kreet threw his right arm over his eyes, keeping them as open as he could to make sure Maerek stayed on the ground. The fire lapped at his skin, and Kreet felt the searing. This was the purest form of agony, but it was over as soon as it began. Even so, Kreet had suffered, his skin patched and his clothes alight. He patted at the flames on his tunic, holding his lightsaber an inch from Maerek's nose. Kreet could hear the sirens in the distance, closing in.

The smoldering Feeorin Jedi stood over the Sith, the area around them both in ruins. The ground was torn asunder from lightsaber blows. The pillars were cracked, and smoke poured from ruptured pipes. Debris lie strewn across the platforms, shattered. The smoldering Feeorin stood over the Sith.

"We're done. Surrender."

Maerek looked up at the Feeorin, anger and exhaustion in his eyes. He'd been bested by a Jedi. His breathing was very heavy, and every time he exhaled, he wheezed just a bit. He heard the sirens and knew the fight was over.

"I have no choice." Maerek stated, lifting his wrists for the Feeorin.

Kreet winced in pain. He'd have to spend a lot of time in-Temple on bed rest for these wounds to heal. None of that mattered, Kreet was willing to do anything to see justice done. The police speeders touched down near them, the police astonished at the wreckage caused by these two. The police clipped the stun cuffs on the Sith, and Kreet turned his saber off. Kreet escorted Maerek to a cruiser, he would follow the ship to the Jedi Temple in his star fighter.

As the doors closed on the cruiser, Maerek safely behind an energy wall in his cell on the ship, Kreet took one last look into the sinkholes on Utapau. Symbolism, maybe, that the water that sustained life on Utapau lie so deeply in the dark of those sinkholes. Life is risk, but risk enough, and the reward can be extraordinary. Kreet was a Jedi, and today he had stood for more than the good in the Force. He stood as a light for the Feeorin people, a beacon of hope that Feeorin were not just a race of fierce animals. That Feeorin could be more.

That was why Kreet would not lose his way.
