DESCRIPTION
The Lormar-class refinery station is a semi-mobile space platform manufactured by Kuat Drive Yards. Meant to facilitate mineral and gas extraction in areas where the construction of surface-based infrastructure is not advantageous, the Lormar is mainly sold to large corporations or independent mining cooperatives, and can be used both as a processing facility for extracted ore and as housing for workers and their families.

The Lormar-class refinery station is a behemoth, 2,000 meters in length and incorporating mineral and gas processing infrastructure, star-port facilities, residential zones, and even commercial/leisure areas. 4,000,000 tons of cargo - usually processed ore or gas - can be stored aboard to be collected by visiting bulk freighters, plus up to 2 years worth of consumables. The station can move, albeit extremely slowly, with a top speed of just 10 MGLT and a hyperdrive rating of class 10. Generally, once it has been moved into place, a Lormar will remain on-site for years or even decades, moving on only when there are no more raw materials to be processed.

Of note, Lormars are significant investments for the beings who own them, and unlike some other commercial stations are armed to defend themselves. The typical Lormar is equipped with 4 dual light turbolaser turrets to fend of pirates and other hostile groups, as well as 8 quad medium laser turrets for anti-starfighter work. The station can itself host up to 12 starfighters. There are also 4 tractor beam emitters, although these can be used for much less destructive purposes.

Lormar-class stations are essentially self-contained cities, with many of the beings who work aboard them remaining aboard the same station for the duration of their contracts, often years or even decades, along with their families and loved ones. Decommissioning a Lormar is considered akin to wiping out a community.

LEGALITY
Legal. Lormar-class refinery stations are fairly basic structures, although their size and armament may require some special licensing.

INTENT
To create an example of a semi-mobile space station, and to bring an item from Legends canon into our site's fanon.

RESTRICTIONS
Lormar-class refinery stations are fairly common, but are not easy or cheap to obtain. They are typically faction assets, although they could also serve as the focal point of a player run business venture.
