Serenno

It's approaching morning time on Serenno, the night is slowly turning into day, the sun slowly rises . It's not very often that Newton ventures out beyond the Inner Rim, rare for him to go this far out in the Outer Rim. He would be flying with Derna Lorso, who is ferrying him to Serenno.

The meeting place will be in a clearing inside the forested area of the planet that's quite a distance from the outskirts one of their cities this morning. The client didn't wish to give out their name while arranging this meeting, and their choice of location makes it seem like they didn't want any potential onlookers. So the happenings of this is straightforward enough, the Blackwell employees will meet with the client, with the client intent on purchasing a shipment of Blackwell-made droids. What droids,. how many droids exactly, what price .etc will all be discussed.

Newton would have to admit, this seems a bit... weird, no name given for the client, meeting in a secluded place. They didn't want their communications to be intercepted or anything. But this could still very well turn out to be a profitable venture, they are more than likely nobility, which Serenno is known for. And Newton is as much as a sales person for Blackwell as he is a Roboticist. Blackwell is all about selling product.

"There they are" Newton was behind the helm, as he could see what appears to be the client's speeder in park as they were approaching. Almost there.

Just in case, Newton has a blaster pistol in his pants pocket, loaded. Never know what could happen while venturing in the outer rim. But otherwise, he's ready to go.

Piloting an executive shuttle from the Core to Serenno felt like a reward. The hauler was slow, sluggish and all you really did was go in a direct line from orbital station to orbital station. This shuttle, though, it was bliss. Fast, agile and outfitted with all the luxuries of a megacorp's executive shuttle. If she hadn't been transporting a Roboticist (whatever that was) she would have done some low flying through the Serenno mountains, but alas, she didn't want to risk some prodigy Brainiac to rat her out to the executive who owned this dream of a spaceship. Maybe if he hadn't crowded her in the cockpit..

"I see them," she replied and steered the shuttle towards the parked speeder as she continued to lower their speed into a controlled landing roughly 30 feet from said speeder. Usually she'd stay behind, but since that would put the Brainiac alone making a deal her supervisor had said she was supposed to escort him to the meeting too. Kriff, guess there wasn't a "performing maneuvering tests" in the mountains even after he exited. Derna performed the checklists for properly powering down, engaging security protocols and general lockdown. It was tedious and there were a lot more checks to do compared to the hauler she usually piloted, but then this thing was probably worth more than a hauler 40 times her size. Karking talk about perks of the job, right? No fancy flying but all the checklists..

Dressed in her best-pressed Blackwell uniform, Derna wore the corporate-issued shoulder holster with stun blaster underneath the jacket. "Who are we meeting anyway?" she asked the Brainiac. "Some Duke or something?" This part wasn't her favorite. Praising Blackwell to others, lying through your teeth, just to get a new contract with some wealthy client. People in her rank, with her paycheck, wouldn't get a see a single credit and yet the executive that owned this speeder could probably buy ten more.

As the ship got closer, Newton could see the man just leaning against his speeder, wearing some fancier clothing, it was an older, breaded gentlemen with greying hair. It did look like it was a noble. Really though, as long as the credits are good, it doesn't matter too much what or who he is. And as long as the credits are good for what he is asking for, then the meeting will go splendid.

Newton watched the client to be get off his speeder and then start making his way towards the shuttle while the good pilot was following proper procedure for powering down the vessel. The Serennese man would stop half way, crossing his arms while waiting now.

Some duke or something? He heard the good pilot ask. Newton would answer "Looks like it. The client didn't wish to give their identity in the initial communications. They were having security issues and were worried about communications being intercepted as far as I know." Newton shrugged, he would prefer to know in advance who he would be talking to, like with most transactions. "Still, no transaction will be made unless payment is good." No way is he going to give company property without due payment. Things might seem a bit sketch but if the client shows to be trustworthy enough all will be fine.

"Anything else before we head out?" he would ask his escort. He feels no need to go ahead without escort being ready. If she had any more questions, there is still time.

Shady noble, hm? Although it shouldn't be a surprise seeing as her family had been part of this mega-corporation for so long and well, it is a mega-corporation and that implies a myriad of bent rules and shady practices, the confirmation of a client that wanted to remain anonymous still disappointed Derna. "Nah," she shook her head as she straightened her jacket downwards to seem like a better fit on her body, "I get it. We return for a deal with at least a certain amount of credits," she sighed as she started to descend the short ramp that function as exit, "-and we don't care if our product keeps dictators in charge, kills innocent people or does any number or variety of unspeakable acts." Blackwell was a business that mastered every form of deniability in its business practices and they weren't going to change that now. Still, perhaps it was a mistake to voice it in such an aggrieved way to a colleague she might not be able to trust. Ah kriff it, Derna's sadness changed to determination and while it was only noticeable in her facial expression suddenly changing to all confident and professional as they started walking towards the client, she figured the worst Blackwell could do was fire her..

..and a pilot in today's galaxy could always find other work. Too bad her family would ostracize her as a Lorso leaving the company in shame was not just disappointing but an outright disaster for their standing and own pride. Kriff, maybe she did make a mistake voicing those concerns.. she can't be responsible for something happening to her family. Kriff-Kark. No wait, she would show utter professionalism and ensure a great deal for the company. Whatever it took for that roboticist to give her a glowing review when asked.

The fancy-clad nobleman with his pristinely clipped eyebrows and utterly sharp-cut beard made Derna uncomfortable in her "good uniform" and she unconsciously started to pull her uniform that little bit more straight. If only she could've stayed behind on the ship..

That's is more or less what Blackwell actually does, what Miss Lorso said. Every megacorporation has a dark side, even Blackwell, even if they do have better public standing than Czerka. Newton thought she was actually restating company MO as a matter-of-factly rather than being snide or aggrieved. Newton never was really that good at reading other people. He saw no issue and descended the short ramp along with her.

Newton would walk towards the man, and then stop about 5 meters away from where the client is. "Good day you two and greetings" the nobleman would nod and smile. "Thank you for meeting me here under, unusual conditions, I'm sure you understand my caution though, didn't want to take a chance with this getting out." he kept with the big grin on his face. With a pause, he would continue "Allow me to introduce myself, I am Jaren of House Demici." He sounds like a kind older man and his tone is over eager as well as he tries to sound formal. "So, whom do I have the pleasure of speaking with today on Blackwell's behalf, hmm? " he asked. So, he is from a noble house, he says and Newton noted, although he doesn't know the significance of them in context of Serenno.

Looks like they have a bit until they get past the pleasantries. "Newton" he simply introduced himself, having a neutral expression on his face. The over eagerness on the client's part is rubbing Newton the wrong way in an annoying way particularly, although he will do his best to conceal it. Once the pleasantries are done maybe they can move on...

Ugh, that grin as he was addressing the roboticist was already getting under Derna's skin. Jaren of House Demici, yeah right! If he hadn't been born into nobility he'd... well, nothing comes to mind. After the roboticist introduced himself, Derna caught the noble looking at her and waiting in silence. It didn't dawn on her for a full two seconds that he expected her to introduce herself, too. Highly unusual, to say the least, but perhaps this noble thought she was more than just the pilot. "Derna," she hurried the name out of her mouth and had only at the last moment thought to only say her first name, just like the roboticist had done. Apparently these multi-billion credit deals were done on first name basis. Huh, who would've thought.

Feeling kinda good about herself and feeling like the galaxy is at her feet, Derna suddenly remembered that the first Sith Empress, Darth Andraste, had used Serenno as her capital. She knew this because her family was secretly very proud that it had been a Lorso that had conducted two of her weddings. Just like there was a Lorso instrumental in Blackwell's founding... a name often mentioned in the data dumps of archived recordings at the Grand Library, dumped because no one cared to read it and it only claimed space better suited for "HoloNet-star #548201". Kriff, Derna started to sound like her parents.

Jaren of House Demici seemed comfortable enough being on a first name basis and stepped aside, "Please, allow me to drive you to a more-" his grin grew wider and definitely a bit mischievous, "-secluded place to avoid the prying eyes, so to say." Derna turned at Newton with a look that said "This guy his hella sus" and yet she made no comment. It wasn't her place and besides, she'd made one too many remarks that weren't in line with 'Blackwell Loyalty' already and botching this deal with smart remarks was the last thing she wanted.

Newton turned towards Derna and saw her reaction. Newton's gritted his teeth with unease as to say 'i agree' with something not being right, given the apparent nobleman's expression and his desire to drive them to a more secluded place. Newton thought where they were secluded enough, in the middle of the forests of Serenno.

Newton would try to avoid it "Oh. You sure? I thought we were already in an obscure area..." he would ask the nobleman, looking a bit and sounding confused as he would look around the perimeter, not seeing anything but grass, trees, and more trees.

The Blackwell employee's expression and question are innocent enough. If the nobleman decides here is a fine place to conduct business after all, fine. Although if he insists on taking them somewhere else he guesses he will ultimately have to take him up on that to begin negotiations, he doesn't want to report back to his bosses empty handed after all.

Jaren of House Demici looked somewhat taken by surprise by the Blackwell negotiator not simply complying without a word of protest. He was used to people acting to satisfy his every whim, no doubt. "You want to do business in the open?" he asked, incrediously, as his eyebrows rose and his eyes gazed through the woods that surrounded them. "My family owns a perfectly modest hunting estate not far from here."

Ofcourse! They had to land all the way out here because a spaceship, especially a high-end one, would be noticed if it landed on a private landing pad. Jaren taking his fancy landspeeder for a ride into the woods twice on one day was way less suspicious.. to some.

Derna followed his gaze through the woods and didn't see any prying eyes.. humanoid or otherwise.. and stepped closer to the roboticist so she could whisper something without the noble overhearing. "We did arrive in an executive shuttle." Meaning that the interior was neat, rich with fancy Blackwell regalia and outfitted with all the holo-projectors needed to show the specs of Blackwell's many droids. If Jaren was the one they were supposed to meet with to discuss the terms of a deal, then they could just as well do it from the safety of the Blackwell shuttle. If he was just a patsy hired as a middleman than he would no doubt insist on going to said estate or have the actual client brought over. Either way, Newton and Derna would find out something more about who exactly they were dealing with.

The nobleman had a mean look on his face as everything as not going as he wished, but then he regained his composure and then smiled again. "I'm sorry, I must insist."

Newton internally sighed as he and the nobleman are at an impasse here, negotiations are going to be dreadlocked before they began, this is already not a good sign, along with the Demici's behavior. It's erratic, he did a complete one-eighty in terms of facial expressions and body language.

After a pause, glancing back at his partner and then taking a more literally (but quiet) sigh, he would reluctantly comply. "Ugh, very well then". He doesn't feel like arguing about this before negotiations start and he doesn't want to risk the client being spooked and walking away before negotiations even began. With that, Newton would head on towards the speeder and get in a passenger seat, the Demici smiled at that "Splendid!", now he would wait for Derna to follow suit.

The suddenly jovial human opened the doors and they all got in without another word. There was something off about his sudden change in demeanor, though. What did he just convince the two Blackwell operatives into? A trap of fatal consequence? A hostage situation even the Black Sun would take its hat off for? Hopefully this was just Derna's paranoia talking.

The noble definitely didn't take a scenic route and sped his speeder straight through the uneven forest hills and valleys, going up and down and up and down. If Derna hadn't been a pilot by trade she would've been uneasy about the many times her stomach fluids rose to try and caress her throat. "Hey!" she said towards the noble, looking at the roboticist to check if he was okay, "Slow down a bit will ye?" but the noble pretended not to hear her at all and pressed the gas down even further.

A few minutes later the referenced hunting estate popped up with its beautifully sculptured gardens and immaculate white walls. Here the speeder stopped and the doors opened. Not a word from Jaren of House Demici. Weird. "I don't know what's going on, but-" the doors of the estate opened and several armed guards exited to form a guard of honor from the speeder to the door. Derna's eyebrows rose as she exited the speeder, tucked her uniform straight again and stared towards the door. "Weird."

This was the first time Demolly wore a dress. It matched the style of the people who lived around here. It wasn't the first time she'd changed from her usual Sith garb, she'd had a lesson or two on blending in to get closer to a target.

She looked somewhat alien for a human due to the depths she'd bathed in the Dark Side. What little blonde had been in her hair in her youth was long gone, leaving a dull silver bun tightly wound on her head. Her skin was pale enough to match a corpse and her eyes were a very, very unnatural yellow.

On the other hand, making and listening to deals was new to her, but she was the closet available Sith and thus sent by the higher ups. She assumed they didn't want to bother making the trip themselves, and Demolly was perfectly fine with it. It actually fit nicely into her future plans, or it would if things went well.

When the two guests entered with their host, Demolly smiled and held out her arms to greet them. "Welcome, welcome!" she said in a somewhat excited voice. She was sitting on a chair with a glass of tea in her hand. The room was set up with several chairs and a small table in the centre with tea and cookies; it was basically a drawing room. "Have a seat, enjoy some tea."

Even with seat belt on, the ride to the estate was unbearable, so many bumps and by the end of it he was wore out and over it. Newton did see the good pilot Lorso was handling this better than he was, Lorso would be better trained for it, her being a professional pilot and all that. He would nod at her as he checked on him, he was *okay*, but he could be better off, but hopefully they would arrive to this place the nobleman spoke off very soon. Credit to Lorso for trying to get him to slow down, although a bit in vain. Either he couldn't hear or she was being ignored, probably both.

Once the nobleman stops and lands the speeder at the estate, Newton would breath a sigh of relief, siliently muttering "Finally" he would then shake his head as he would get to a vertical base, with the two being escorted by the nobleman's soldiers. Weirdly enough, the nobleman did not say anything, not even dismounting from his speeder. He would look back and notice this, but then before too long they would be in the estates doors.

They would arrive through the drawing room, they would see a silvery haired woman with a dress, and pale skin. Her clothing looks Serennese, but she looks more like an Arkanian other that, to Newton anyway. Newton would then see the chairs, the table with tea and cookies, and it looks like this is where the meeting is really taking place, and that is who they are meeting with if he were a betting man. Was the Demici just a middleman for this? "Thank you" Newton said to the lady, glancing at his partner, he would afterwards take a seat in one of the chairs, and pour himself a glass of tea.

Newton would then ask. "Nice to meet you. I'm Newton" he would introduce herself to her "You must be our client, right?" He would just be asking for confirmation. He would still have a glass of tea in hand, but he's still a bit weary from the bumpy right here, but at least everything is coming to make sense

Entering the drawing room Derna was at first a little proud. Hell yes, woman in charge! but that feeling quickly died as a dark tense anxiety fell over her. The yellow eyes were unmistaken and Derna knew it was the visible mark of a Sith, or at least a 'Dark Sider' as they called it on the HoloNet. Something to do with the Force, corruption and the most evil things one could imagine.

Kriff. Did this mean.. she looked at the roboticist as he sat down and poured himself a cup of tea. Did he just pretend like this was normal... Kriff, was this normal? She knew megacorporations weren't exactly clean and she knew Blackwell certainly wasn't any different... but seeing it with your own eyes was something else. Moving considerably slower than her male colleague she made her way to a seat with rather stiff movements, trying her best not to scream or show the dread that was already trying to take control of her. "I-I'm Derna," she said as she sat down and purposefully avoided looking into the yellow eyes. She was back-up.. she was the bodyguard to a meeting with a Sith. How much did corporate hate the Lorso family!?

Kriff Kriff Kriff Kriff Kriff Kriff Kriff *inhale* Kriff Kriff Kriff Kriff... why the kark was she still working for Blackwell!?

"Nice to meet you both too. I'm Demolly," she replied at first, watching the pair sit down.

One of them reeked of fear, which all but forced Demolly's eyes to linger over the woman. It dawned on her quickly that she wouldn't be able to indulge herself, and it was actually testing her. A flaw that she wasn't that aware of until this moment. She paused as her gaze stayed firmly on the woman, probably leaving an awkwardness in the air between the three.

But then she smiled and her whole posture softened before turning her attention to their host. She used the Force to move a chair, turning it to somewhat face their host, then she forced the man to sit in the chair. He fell in the chair wide-eyed and laughed awkwardly. Maybe it was her way of her venting a little bit of frustration.

"Yes, I am," she finally answered the client question. "Tell me more about your battle droids, how quickly you can manufacture them and in what quantity." She wasn't sure if the questions would be strange, because she didn't know what information they'd sent or talked about with the Order already. She was, after all, just sent here out of the blue.

Newton thought Derna was acting a bit strange.- She never seen that particular kind of pale near-human before? - is what came to his mind. A Sith didn't even come to Newton's mind. Pantorans have really yellow eyes, and there are tons of near-human variants out there that this woman can be, but the yellow eyes didn't strike out as her automatically a Sith or some dark side force user. Or does she see something else he doesn't? He isn't sure.

Anyways, the kind lady noble asked for some details and some questions and the Blackwell Roboticist is all too kind and happy to answer. He would nod and then pull out a small holograph projector from his jacket pocket., it would then pull up a 3d holographic visual of his D3-NB droids. Blackwell has some other battle droids, but Newton would like to sell his own. "This is the D3-NB, also named 'Deneb'. It's a multi-purpose combat droid." He would tap another button on the projector, now it will show the droid holograph moving a brisk pace armed with a blaster rifle advancing "As you can see, these droids are more mobile and reactive than your average droid. They have jump jets on their feet" he would push the button which will show the display droid activating it's jumpboots-like function, "To further enhance their mobility" a useful additon he thought.

Hitting another button, would show a different image of the droid triggering it's intergrated arm-mounted stun baton "And integrated stun-baton, useful for dealing with threats in a non-lethal manner in close-range." He would pause and let his potential client process his words "Also more intelligent than your average battle droid, able to use cover better, and it's metal shell is on par with normal personal armor." instead of like paper compared to the something like the infamous B-series battle-droids during the Clone Wars era. "Should be quite proficient for palace security, wouldn't you say?" he would ask.

Now for her last questions, he would answer "Blackwell is a large corporation with many manufacturing facilities, these droids should be able to manufacture these quickly no problem. And how many are you looking for? We should be able to fill in any quantity you wish." He said.

Derna was looking around while Newton made his pitch. Her eyes met that of a guard and for a moment they shared the same sense of dread. Kriff. The guard looked away before she did and left her gazing at nothing in particular while the faint words of Newton echoed in her skull. What else had pale skin, yellow eyes and needed a clandestine meeting for purchasing a large number of battle droids? The only near-yellow eye color she'd seen was gold, but Demolly's skin wasn't nearly blue enough to be Pantoran. Slowly, Derna's gaze returned to the potential buyer.

She was pretty, looked good in a dress and seemed barely out of her teenage years. Too young to have a significant position in a government, for which this meeting was a bit too informal anyway. She could be a scion of a rich family on.. Hapes, perhaps? But she'd probably have her own guards around as well as the Demici soldiers. Maybe she didn't really need guards, or maybe she was simply... wait, Andraste started her Empire on Serenno! Maybe Demolly was part of the Serenno elite in a way the Demici's could only dream of.

Trying her best to convince herself that the yellow eyes were merely a cosmetic trend on Serenno and nothing out of the ordinary was happening in this meeting, Derna seemed to relax a little and finally Newton's words fully registered again. Having Demolly state a number would ease Derna's mind as there was no way that a Serenno princess would need more than a hundred of these droids.

The woman, or rather, the one who called herself Derna (did they even use their real names?) fear seemed to cool somewhat. It helped Demolly's focus as she listened to the other one. "Proficient," she echoed. "Yes."

My followers will find them proficient too, she thought. The little cult that Asminys recently helped her acquire needed a lot of help. It was nothing but a minor nuisance to the locals currently, but these droids would certainly give them a boost. And she had no qualms whatsoever about embezzling a few. What Sith wouldn't take advantage? If the higher ups that saddled this job on her didn't expect this, then they were fools and she'd deal with them when they came to protest.

"A regular, continuous supply," she answered when he asked for numbers. That was at least something she was briefed on. With a few worlds already under the Order's control, Demolly expected funding something like this wasn't going to cut deep into their pockets. Even if it did, it was obviously for expansion so it was worth the investment. "But each shipment will be inspected for quality before my men accept them. If anything off is found I will expect replacements and answers." By off she didn't just mean a loose bolt, but sabotage in either their programming or physical parts. It was something she'd do, therefore paranoia over it existed.

"You'll get a large up front payment for the first few months. If I'm pleased with their quality and timely manufacturing by the end of it, I'll pay for more, and so on," she stated. Obviously paying monthly was a safer investment, but she wasn't going to give them more information than they needed. A monthly payment came with deposits that had information attached each time. A big payment could be done with little to no information to take advantage of.

"A regular, continuous supply.' and "large up front payment" was said from the lady, there they are. With the weird happenings going on when they first set foot on the planet Newton was skeptical, but this is turning out better than he thought. A large upfront payment and this being a longer term deal will venifit the client and Blackwell both. "Those terms are acceptable" Newton showed a confident smile. With that, there is only the matter of signing a contract, which will have to happen another time. "So, I will have a contract typed up it in the close future with the nitty gritty details arranged there, but with the terms you just laid out. We would sign then and there, with everything is official and on the books." he would nod his head.

"Do we have a deal?" a simple question asked, but the answer is most important.

Hahah.. this was a joke, right? Derna looked at the roboticist, right? A regular and continuous supply of battle droids was no cheap request and surely the roboticist would want proof that the young woman, both their junior no doubt, would be able to afford even a single shipment of that size. So Derna prepared for him to twist the screws and tell her where she'd get the funds to..

Alright so he accepted the terms right away. Derna clearly wasn't accustomed to doing the deals and something told her the Blackwell executives would add a clause detailing what would happen if the client was unable or too late with her payments. She'd trust the roboticist knew what he was doing and turned her eyes back on Demolly, eager to see her agree so they could return to the ship. There was very little of the initial dread left in her now that it appeared that Newton had firm grip on the negotiation.

This was it then? Blackwell would supply the droids that would massacre the next ranger station.

"Excellent," she answered with another smile. A steady supply of war droids for the Order and for her cult. She wondered if expanding to new worlds was the next best step for the Children of Kun or not. They were going to expand on Malastare, but she didn't want all her eggs in one best.

That was neither here or there at the moment though.

Her eyes flicked between the two before continuing, "Keep in touch with my friend here." She gestured to their host. "And enjoy the rest of your day."
