BIOGRAPHY
Her time in the gang was enlightening and instructive. With her daily experience pushing her to fight for personal survival by pleasing her masters, Leea grew a submissive and fearful personality. Eventually, her natural dexterity and seeming limitless good fortune behind a pilot’s seat led to her being assigned to a suicide squadron used as a fighter screen for the pirate’s more ambitious assaults. During this period, the Mirialan learned to be emotionally committed and fight for what she wanted. At first, the attitude saw her punished severely; however, the pirates soon realized that the bluster was not connected to real insubordination or resistance. With that understanding, Leea was viewed differently and almost considered a part of the crew rather than one of its slaves. Among the few perks related to this social elevation was her own cramped closet to live in and a share of the pirate’s foodstuff. Although fortune favoured her with survival through many missions, ultimately, she never imagined she would live long enough to see her freedom. Years down the line, the pirates were disbanded as part of an agreement between criminal factions. In the developing power vacuums and scrambling by different individuals to cement their new employment, Leea was lost somewhere in the jumble.
With only limited formal education and a far more developed criminal schooling, Leea soon mixed back with the people she had formerly feared. She began her business as an upstart smuggler and found work among her previous captors and their networks. She managed to maintain a decent business and dump the ageing fighter she had been forced to fly under her owners in favour of an actual, albeit quite outdated, cargo vessel. During this transition into her new ship, with tight finances, Leea had to change food suppliers, having long relied on connections with the old pirate crew until then. A sudden personality shift shook her world apart, nearly costing her everything. It took her almost three months in a penitentiary after a cantina brawl to realize that she was suffering from severe withdrawal symptoms that failed to diminish as time progressed.
After earning her freedom, a façade to cover her moving a spice shipment for the facility’s overseer, Leea met up with her suppliers and discerned that the pirate crew had been given food with a fairly substantial dose of glitterstim. She spent the next few years scraping by as she scrounged up ways to feed the unanticipated addiction. She began taking more risky business ventures until she narrowly escaped a run-in with security cruisers on piracy patrols. She decided to run further afield, taking one last job to transport refined glitterstim from Kessel to a buyer halfway across the galaxy. She exchanged her monetary reward for that job and instead took a less profitable cut of spice. It was enough, so she wagered, to last long enough for her to settle into a better life as a smuggler. From then on, Leea would live a somewhat ascetic life, seesawing between regular smuggler work and more erratic and risky operations to refill her supply of glitterstim.
Personality
A friend to few, Leea tends to keep her personal life out of the limelight, trying to maintain a professional demeanour. As with most glit-biters, Leea suffers from severe withdrawal symptoms, including tremors and nervousness. Perhaps her greatest fear is that her addiction will get the better of her, leading to a predictable drive to ensure she is supplied with glitterstim, which she tends to dose carefully. Not above using the drug for professional ends, she resists the temptation to take it recreationally.
Her favourite pastime, and indeed the activity she goes to when everything else seems to fall apart, is flight. Her worries often disappear as Pandac takes the stars. She often loses track of almost anything else when on particularly demanding flights, her mind registering little in her immediate environment as she loses herself in the moment, feeling the ship as an extension or perfection of her tiny form.
