"This is Fleur Wescott, coming to you live from the carnage in Coronet City. First responders and firefighters are on the scene of a massive fire caused by one of several asteroids that have leveled miles of city and industrial zones across Corellia. Kor Vella, Tyrena, Bela Vistal, and Doaba Guerfel have also been hit.

"These asteroids were able to crash through orbital installments put in place to prevent such disasters, but fortunately it appears that this event is a random - albeit unfortunate - occurrence."

The newswoman turned to gesture to the massive asteroid behind her, partially sunken into the broken earth around her, and surrounded by fire. Teams of first responders could be seen evacuating injured civilians, and teams of firefighters were battling the flames that arose from the impact.

"But, as you can see here, authorities have things under contr—"

"THEY'RE COMING FROM INSIDE! SHOOT! SHOOT NOW!"

The camera shot over to the base of the asteroid, where hundreds of Killiks could be seen swarming from the underside of the space rock. Before the cameras were cut, the image of Killiks both small and large hacking and slashing into the firefighters and first responders could be seen. Despite the personnel on scene, the Corellians were greatly outnumbered by the ever-growing crowds of Killiks joining them on the ruined city streets.

An armed man ran up to the news reporter and shouted at her to follow him, and the broadcast defaulted back to the horrified faces of the news anchors. One of them managed to regain their composure enough to stammer out the ad break transition.

"Um, we will- We will return to Fleur once we know she's-" He cleared his throat and started over. "We will return after a short break from one of our sponsors."

"EMYRC ENERGY! ENOUGH ENERGY TO FUEL A—! ..."

Present time...

Three hours later and hours of footage of various other attacks happening across the planet, Fleur Wescott made her return to the Corellia news broadcast in the belly of an armed transport ship flying over the city.

"This is Fleur Wescott, here to bring you the latest news in rain, shine, or assault. We're in the skies above the Energy District right now, where it appears the Killiks are closing in on Corellia's nuclear core. Security forces are gathered to contest their advancement but are currently hesitating to engage in full force as the bugs have taken non-Joined civilians as hostages to use them as physical shields against responders.

"Authorities are afraid of what may happen if the Killiks reach the Core plant because as we all know, the plant is the main source of power for over half of Corellia shipyards and the entirety of Coronet City. If we don't stop them in time..."

For the first time since the attacks began, worried lines creased Fleur's forehead, and her eyes shifted away from the camera.

"...a nuclear explosion could kill billions and destroy or ruin entire districts, material stockpiles, and shipbuilding equipment with ungodly amounts of radiation.

"If you are watching this from home, please immediately and quickly follow any instructions from your local authorities to evacuate yourself and your families. Do not drink or eat anything you do not know the origins of, and beware of the Joiners."

-----

On the ground, under the roof, and on the steps of the Core, security forces gathered to defend the nuclear power plant from the approaching Killik assault. An emergency broadcast had been sent out, asking indiscriminately for help from anyone fit and willing to defend the Core. Those who had responded to the call were being very quickly briefed on the severity of the situation by an officer.

"If those bugs get in here and get their way, billions are going to die. This city will be leveled for miles and miles, and we will lose the heart of our shipbuilding industry. We have to do whatever we can to prevent them from getting to the reactor without harming any hostage civilians."

When Caerllion arrived in Corellia, he thought that it was going to be a simple visit. It was rare for a pure-blood like him to leave their homeworld, thinking that the rest of the Galaxy was inferior. However, since he had become a Sith, the Acolyte had abandoned such a vision. He would never achieve his goals by staying in Annwfyn forever.

While his visit in Corellia wasn’t related to any of his plans as a Sith, it being only a simple touristic travel, he still used it to visit places were could buy resources to the small Sith operation happening in Annwfyn. He would never miss the opportunity of doing something productive even if he was in faction.

However, for reasons unknown to him, everything went to hell. Caerllion was walking through the streets of Coronet city when the asteroids started to fall. In his opinion, it looked exactly like a scene of a holomovie about the end of the Galaxy. When the Killiks started to come from the rocks, the Acolyte thought that it changed genres and became one about the attack of mutant bugs.

At least they weren’t spiders. Caerllion would be in shock if he saw a planet being invaded by these giant arachnids. He would be screaming with the rest of the people.

Of course, he was a bit apprehensive about the situation. Trying to move through the crowd fleeing from the bugs, Caerllion could only think how the people couldn’t stop screaming. He knew that the people were in panic, but screaming wasn’t going to save them. In the best case, it would even attract the creatures. Besides hurting his eardrums.

Amidst the chaos, he had reached what seemed to be the main target of the Killiks. Several other individuals that had heard the request for help from the Correlian security forces where already on the the Power Plant, prepared to defend the reactor.

Under normal conditions, the Acolyte would have left them deal with this problem alone and returned to his homeworld. However, with all that these agitation of the insectoids across the Galaxy, the Annfyn believed that if nothing was done, even the Sith worlds and Annwfyn would be affected. Due to that, he was there to give some aid and stop the possible destruction of Corellia.

Of course, he was still careful for no one to recognise his identity. The Acolyte was wearing a simple armor and helmet, which also muffled his voice. Being a Sith, he had learned to always be prepared for word, even during vacation. In this case, he would need it for the possible end of the world.

Wayson had heard something happening in Ruusan and had rushed to his ship, only to learn that an Asteroid had stuck Corellia. While a world under the ISC, the many millions of people that had been killed and dying called to him. He was a Jedi and a Jedi would not abandon a world simply due to its allegiances. So Wayson changed course and flew. Grabbing his gear and hoped it was just another search and rescue mission. But when he dropped out of hyperspace and got further reports, Wayson's heart sank. The Kiliks? Bugs?

Wayson had explored and knew of the species but never imagine them to be so destructive. They seemed reclusive but this was an act of aggression so vile that Wayson could only have thought those of the Dark side could do. So he directed his ship straight to the reactor. He wasn't about to let it fall and doom the entire world. Still hearing that the Kilik's were using citizens as meat shields caused the Jedi to lose heart even more. This was a disaster. Millions, no Billions will die.

Landing his ship in the nearest hangar to the reactor Wayson grabbed all his weapons and placed the helmet over his head. Now was the time for action. Centering himself in the Force Wayson had to push past all the rage, pain, death, and horror that filled the Force and focused on the light. An old man pulled a random child to safety in his home, a doctor saved a life in a makeshift hospital, and other small but generous acts of life and light filled him with the energy he needed to carry out his duty today.

Running out of the ramp and making sure it closed behind him, the Jedi would only hope he would not be too late. One hand held a blaster pistol the other his lightsaber, still inert but ready to spring to life to defend himself or others. The smoke in the sky darkened everything as emergency lights and sounds of death surrounded him. This was war, and Wayson will have to learn to suffer through it.

It was only a couple of weeks ago that Varyn and Vahliri had gone on their date on Raxus Prime and he had asked her if she'd ever been to Corellia. They'd mutually agreed to visit and had made their way in the direction of the system. They'd stopped a few other places on the way and at the final refueling station, Varyn had caught site of the holonet report.

Varyn had immediately decided that he needed to get there to help, and Vahliri had... agreed.

Three hours later, they had finished out the remainder of the trip through the system and arrived to see the chaos. He'd suited up in his IAC armor, which immediately identified him as Imperial, and the lightsaber tucked into the thigh holster identified him as a Sith.

His eyes swept over the others who were gathered here. He could only guess at the variety of people who were going to show up. Sith, Imperials, Sector Rangers, bounty hunters, mercenaries... Jedi. It was going to be... a day of days, that was for sure. He had no idea how things would play out and how bloodthirsty others would be toward each other, but he could only hope that the incredible threat to them all would keep people in line.

He only half-listened to the briefing from the officer because his mind was on what they were about to face. He'd seen and heard about the carnage these things could cause, but he didn't really know. When he fought a Sith or a criminal or even an animal, he knew what he was up against. But this was entirely different, and he didn't really know what to expect.

What he did know was that people were going to die. A lot of people. And he had a feeling the hostages were going to be among them. He'd heard an Old Republic commander speak on the topic once: "the worst thing you have to accept is the ruthless calculus of war. Ten billion people over here die so twenty billion over there can live." He wondered how many of those hostages would die to save the three billion people who lived on Corellia.

He took a deep breath and steeled his nerves. Chaos was coming and death in its wake.

A chirp on Bast’s comm link woke the Ranger from her mid-day nap. She had been working a domestic case all night and not slept a wink. Groaning, she rolled over and looked at the blinking light. It stopped and she leaned back once more. Likely, it was one of her old coworkers wanting to get a drink with her while she was in town, back home. The hushed whispers and pitying glances from a decade back were now replaced by a false friendliness in an attempt to network with the Captain and get in on any credits that the Alliance and Republic were still throwing at the Sector Rangers. Little did they know she got paid about as much as she had as a local constable on Correlia. Moreover, she was tired. Not to mention, she could no longer drink anything without a throbbing headache for the following three days.

The light blinked again. Fifteen missed messages. Suddenly wide awake, Bast listened to the first. “Emblai, we need you assisting in evacuation and triage. A large astroid impacted and casualties are high. Meet me at the clinic on 41st.” The next one was dated from only ten minutes previously. She didn’t bother listening. Instead, she hurriedly pulled her always-prepared armor on and grabbed her blaster pistol.

Outside was chaos. Vendors had abandoned their carts and industrial workers ran amuck. It took four hover-taxis and her badge to finally get a ride. The moment of peace inside the vehicle was quickly overshadowed by the news playing on the back of the driver’s seat. Fires raged, but the firefighters were running. Emerging from the flames were dozens upon dozens of insects. She ground her teeth in an effort to keep from swearing in front of the poor Ithorian driver. They were outnumbered, and casualties from the initial impact had no doubt tripled.

Before her ride had stopped fully, Bast jumped out. A sharp pain shot up from the small of her back to her neck. She ignored it.

A man in an orange vest waved her down towards the evacuation route. Slightly out of breath, she introduced herself. “Captain Emblai of the Sector Rangers. Where do I go?”

“Just east, they’re briefing everyone.”

She jogged east to find the meeting. Indeed, a motley group had gathered. No doubt there were all from Jedi to street kids. But right now, that did not matter. Bodies were needed and that was all.

The doctrine of the Chiss Ascendency is one of isolationism, although the Chiss has agents and spies outside of the Unknown Regions, they gathered infomation about the current state of the galaxy rather than directly intervening. The young Chiss Grerse'dava'nlon was posted in ISC space not too long ago. The ISC was an interesting government, and very functional unlike some others. As one of the rare-force sensitive Chiss, he has the power of the Sight, and he could feel that something bad was going to happen. The Chiss expect trouble, but here on Corellia and elsewhere it was coming. He didn't know exactly when, but it was all too soon.

But then the news broke out, the Killiks have came in force. The Chiss were well familiar with the Killiks, the Ascendency fought them before in the Unknown Regions.

On Corellia, the nuclear plant was under threat. Billions could die, and would do major damage to the the ISC. The stability of the ISC must be protected especially as the Killiks have came. They threaten the Ascendency and must not be allowed to do as they want.

After hitching a ride via a freighter, he would arrived where everyone else has gathered. It felt a bit odd since Davan was young and everyone else looked much older than him, but there were some other young ones in the background scanning around looking at the others. He didn't say anything after been given the briefing yet. There were Imperials, Sith, Jedi, and others present. The situation is dire indeed.

Davan thought about wearing a skin disguise, but decided against it. There are other blue-skinned near-human species that are well-known, and Davan doesn't have red-eyes like the usual Chiss so being identified as one shouldn't be an issue. Not like 99% of the galaxy is aware of the Chiss' existance anyway. Davan came equipped with some makeshift smuggler armor (functionless), a heavy-blaster rifle that he got recently at a special discount that on his person slinged, his usual charric pistol holstered and other gear. To hide his blind-eyes, he also wore sunglasses.

The galaxy really lives in interesting times...

So the Universe was in danger huh? What else is new..

Luckily, the Justice Army was here to lend a helping hand.

Armored transport zapped out of hyperspace, hovering for a moment in the pitch black of intergalactic void before its exhausts fired up once more and it descended into Corellian Orbit. The large vessel shifted horizontally as it lowered itself in a near parallel manner, large billows of dust and wind escaping from beneath its metal hull as barbs of durasteel feet etched themselves into the world. Atmosphere appeared most unwelcoming, char and smoke rising into the skies to litter them with ghastly grey instead of the once pristine blue Corelia was known for. This was the site of many famous battles including a Mandalorian invasion that occurred thousands of years prior but somehow Romeo felt a little tingle in his body, reminding him of the stand his ancestors once made.

"Strike team, deploy.."

Ramp ushered down as rows of armored boots belonging to Mandalorian warriors advanced outwards. They were all grabbed in their beskar'gams, fitted with jetpacks to enhance mobility and carried both blasters as well as flamethrowers. The soldiers were loyal to the rebel cell, but other humanoid features likely indicated recent new recruits as well. Regardless, they were here to assist the worlds and joined with the other numerous security forces that had gathered around. The three Mandalorians of interest would soon disembark, Romeo Solus being the one in the front.

Customized beskar'gam twinkled with its unique Scatterweave paint, containing usual armaments including jetpack, whistling birds, right wrist rocket, and left wrist mounted Flamethrower. An ebony cape strapped off his pauldrons and dangled to his calves, its outline etched in gold designating him as the Field Marshall for this assignment. Romeo carried in his hands a heavily modified T7 Ion Disruptor rifle, complete with unique red camo and fitted with an underbarrel grenade launcher (plasma grenade) as well as a top concussion rocket attachment. Thigh holsters carried his dual Merr-Sonn pistols, while his beskad was strapped to his back. A lone vibroknife hidden in an ankle pocket while the typical back-up slugthrower was missing and its holster carried instead a Disruptor Pistol. Utility belt looped around his waistband, containing an extra power pack for his blasters as well as an extra plasma grenade and one smoke grenade.

Armored fingers relaxed off to the side of the trigger guard on his disruptor rifle, steely gaze surveying those who were gathered around. Romeo politely gave a nod in greeting to the Sector Ranger, "Captain.." @Kestrel and slowly shifted his attention towards Wayson, "Jedi" @Richie B.

Three hours ago, Quin watched the news of an asteroid strike on Corellia. Like everyone else, he was horrified at the chaotic scene unfolding on the screen before the reporter was pulled away and a commercial break started. Springing out of his seat, he went to the cockpit of the ship he had borrowed and put in the coordinates, not bothering to ask for permission. When the lives of others were at stake, he wasn’t going to sit around and wait for someone to tell him that was no place for a Padawan, whether or not he could try to save them.

He had already arrived in Coronet City when the second report came in, detailing the threat of the bugs entering the nuclear Core plant. Once he’d checked that he had everything he needed on him— his lightsaber, utility belt, light armor, comms— he turned off the screen.

“So that’s where I’m going then,” he muttered to himself. Steeling his nerves, he headed for the place of the briefing, which wasn’t too far away. When he arrived, he found that others were there too. Most of them were new faces, as expected, but he did recognize the armor of Romeo, who he’d worked with briefly on Gamorr. Quin glanced into his visor, a slight smile to show that he remembered him, before giving a nod in the general direction of the group once the officer finished the briefing.

This is going to be a mother of all fights…

Boots clacked on the Ramp of the Transport and as soon as it opened it was all hands on deck.. I followed Romeo Solus Down the ramp without Hesitation, Under his command as the field Marshall for this particular Mission. Adenn had other matters to Attend to and so had sent me in his place. When we had first seen reports of the meteors I thought it was a humanitarian crisis but then the killiks showed up and it suddenly became a war... I had honestly thought killiks were Extinct but clearly they had a thing or two to say about that. I was armed with my Armor with Vembraces and flamethrower, jet pack I got from Casany way back and vibroknife. my Gifted Westar-1 was fitted on my belt along side a MAG-79 Thumper. Adenn had Scrounged up a BM-664 Heavy Blaster Rifle. We organized at the Ramp, waiting on the last member of the strike force for the Tor'la Akaan'ade. I recognized really only Quin Leonkri. I gave a respectful bow to the jedi and sec-ran.

Corellia was not a world Logna had ever been sent to. It was just his luck that there happened to be a massive emergency on his first trip to the planet, which he had heard others speak highly of around the master's palace. He had been in the area when a bunch of uniformed officers had come running past, heading toward some sort of briefing and sending out a localised comm message calling for volunteers.

Logna had been quick to act, making sure his sleeve was pulled down over the Desilijic slave brand on his forearm and following a young man (@Sicadorito) into the briefing. He regretted it almost immediately - armoured men and women, people with lightsabers (or at least what he understood to be lightsabers) at their hips, and enough police to make a Hutt sweat stood in the room. Before long, a datapad was thrust into his hands by a busy aide. Smiling politely as he took the device, he thumbed through the information presented to him.

Apparent a massive asteroid had taken out a large area of the nearby industrial zone, and now some sort of alien species was making its way down toward something called the 'core planet', which - from what he could read - was a terrible thing.

"Well, maybe this will be a one-way trip." Logna mumbled to himself. He had regretted coming here when he saw the others in the room, but, given the circumstances, it was better to be helping out, even in a small way, rather than just waiting for his probably fiery death.

He read the evacuation notice at the bottom of the datapad. Logna didn't have a family; all things considered, he didn't actually have anyone who would miss him or a great deal to actually miss. Shrugging, he turned to the Jedi, and nudged him, keeping his voice low so as to not disturb the briefing "Here you go." he handed the man the datapad, his sleeve slipping to reveal his brand as he did so.

The ISC called for aid... and the Free World's Alliance answered.

The native Correllian hadn't exactly expected a homecoming like this- his planet threatened by hordes of bugs using his people as living shields- but combat was nothing new to him and so he dutifully made his way to the briefing area. His ship would be left a few blocks behind where the front line was gathering, locked to the public but hopefully close enough in case a tactical withdrawal was needed.

Bryce was armed enough that he didn't think it would be necessary.

From the sound of things this would be a defensive stand, so FWA soldier had sacrificed mobility in favor of firepower. His blaster pistols were holstered on either leg, and his DC-15A slung over his back, and a Z-6 rotary cannon in his grip. He fully expected to need his blaster rifle first, but the Z-6 was cumbersome enough that carrying it was easier than hauling it around on his back. He'd donned his Resistance Armor, too.

As was his custom when approaching any defensive position, the Correllian did a quick recon of the area they would be tasked with defending, noting potential chokepoints and other entrances/exits that could be used to their advantage. It seemed like the call for assistance had been answered by a diverse group; some of them even seemed to know what they were doing.

Checking his equipment one more time, Bryce took a position not far away from where a Sector Ranger Captain had set up (@Kestrel). "Name's Bryce Callaway" he introduced himself to her with a sharp salute. "I've been considering joining the Rangers- can we consider this a job interview?"

The very moment that Vahliri caught wind of the HoloNet, any notions of their destination or her prior plan with Varyn vanished in the blink of an eye.

Almost at once, the half-Annfyn was transfixed onto the live broadcast coming out of Ruusan - a mixture of raw panic and fury washing over Vahliri upon seeing Altair caught up in the carnage and chaos. More than any Jedi or Resistance force, the Kilik were a threat that had appeared out of nowhere - unknown and incredibly dangerous, and she was powerless to help the ones she cared about caught up in the fighting. Every instinct screamed for the half-Annfyn to drop everything and rush to Ruusan - and for those initial minutes, Varyn would be subject to the half-Annfyn’s screeching and flurry of emotions regarding the Tiefling and Ruusan - futile as she knew it was.

As the additional reports began to stream out of Corellia, Vahliri agreed to accompany Varyn into that chaos. With practically every fleet in the Galaxy converging on the planet, the half-Annfyn knew that she would never come within reach of Ruusan - and she had no desire to see Varyn waltz off to face the Kilik’s alone. She steeled herself for whatever was to come - committed to beating back whatever collective threatened the Galaxy and those who mattered to her.

Standing at the steps of the Core plant, Vahliri only vaguely listened to what the officer was saying - her amber eyes cast out across the horizon and in the direction of the approaching Kilik assault - arms crossed over her chest. Though her expression was set into stone, those closest to the half-Annfyn would clearly note the anxious way that her fluted ears twitched and flicked about - her presence in the Force equally tumultuous. As expected, the half-Annfyn was adorned in all the trappings of the Sith - sporting her signature red-and-black robes, hood pulled up to obstruct the upper hemisphere of her face. The curved hilt of her saber was clipped to Vahliri’s belt, alongside a recently-constructed shoto fitted with the Fennex’s bled crystal.

She briefly allowed her gaze to drift across those assembled - flicking between Rangers, Mandalorians and Jedi alike. The half-Annfyn made no attempt to shroud exactly who she was - easily recognizable by the Jedi as the woman who had led successful invasions of both New Alderaan and Eriadu, and by Romeo from their recent engagement on Onderon. All the same, Vahliri didn’t let her gaze linger on any of them longer than necessary - her attention flicking back to the chaos that approached.

For now, there was only one enemy that mattered.

It had been awhile since he'd fought for something not related to his anger or his desire for profit-- the last time had ended with him nearly dying. He assumed this wouldn't be any different: he had trained a lot since Lothal, but he was just a man, and the danger he was facing was, in his mind, much worse than half a dozen savages clad in beskar. He'd done as much homework about the enemy as he could-- there hadn't been much information available, other than the fact that they were very smart, very big, and very mean.

Plenty had come to fight on Corellia, their reasons as varied as they were. Some, to his chagrin, were Sith-- no doubt interested in using this as some publicity stunt to show how great they were at defending the innocent (when they weren't busy butchering them.) There were Jedi, who he deliberately avoided bothering with for to long, lest they recognize and scorn him. He liked to think he was here for the same reasons that they were-- to stop innocent people from dying. More personally though was a desire to punish the things that were putting them in danger, a punitive, self righteous desire that he hadn't yet properly addressed.

He doubted any of them would recognize him for who, or what he was on a passing glance. All of these people were strangers, though if the Jedi's eyes lingered long enough they might remember the story of the geriatric madman who'd been thrown out for his unsavory conduct at a party in years past. Even still, he was hardly recognizable, clad in thick combat pants and boots, a tight fitting synthmesh running over most of his upper body, clad in just as thick a dark brown jacket with a blaster rifle over his shoulder and a vibrosword at his hip.

That his aura was noticeably distinct from the perpetually volatile, hot tempered boy he'd been during training was another notable distinction. His size was also a notable distinction. The Brentaalan had spent his time at the Jedi temple regaining muscle mass he'd lost after his traumatic experiences on Dantooine, Mataou and Firrerre, only having just recovered by the time of his exile. After two years he'd only grown larger, his arms, chest and thighs growing while his definition had only deepened with how strict of a regime he'd been following.

Also, he had facial hair-- mostly because he hadn't yet shaved that morning.

When it all came down to it though, such details didn't matter much to his fellow defenders, and even less to their prospective attackers. Their affiliations, relationships-- none of it changed what might be about to happen. None of it changed what would happen to them if they failed-- it wouldn't change what killik claws did to a humanoid body. None of it changed what would happen to this world if they failed-- doubtlessly, billions would die, and the core would be undefended.

The Brentaalan could've chosen to return home-- to spirit his mother away somewhere she might be safe for a time. Perhaps Tython, or Dantooine, worlds remote enough that it might take many a year for the enemy to reach her. All of them could've done similar, spending their last hours in the company of loved ones, of friends.

Instead, he, and all the others, had chosen to risk their lives, defending billions of people that they had never met, some of them on a world completely foreign to them.

Just incase, the Brentaalan had prepped his ship to fly home, a final message inside. Any close enough to him as he meditated near a small gathering of defenders would've caught a mixture of pleasant scents, sweet and sour and strong. It wasn't his usual perfumes-- no, he'd decided to preemptively douse himself in the funerary ointments and oils that were expected for a dignified Brentaalan funeral. If they failed, there'd be nothing left of him to bury, but if they succeeded and he fell there might be a chance that he could be sent home and properly burnt.

Or he'd survive, and spend the next six hours drinking, and the next six after that hosing himself down to get the scent of death off of him.

Wayson had gotten to the group and stood with the others now, Mandalorian's Sector Rangers, Sith, strangers, citizens, and soldiers gathered around the reactor. They were ready to defend this place maybe not to the death but at least till the Killik's death. It was empowering knowing that so many can come together to defend life, though there was some hesitation with the Sith the likeliness of them backstabbing them all was so unlikely that he wasn't going to plan for that scenario. It wasn't like he had a whole lot of options anyway.

There were a few Mandalorians, one which was smaller than the other which gave him concern that perhaps it was a kid. But considering the situation could he really do anything about it?

"Mandalorian's, what you think our chances are?" @Faded @Timmen Wayson asked looking to the larger of the two, having nodded back to the younger one in appreciation.

Regardless of their answer, he wasn't going to allow anyone to run off now. They needed to stand together if the world was to survive. Perhaps once this is done he can turn this to earn back some trust the galaxy had lost with the Jedi.

"What do you think we should do in our defense? I can only hope they will be rushing to us headlong like animals but if they are smart enough to use tactics we might have to plan our defenses in layers. Any ideas on how to free the hostages? If we can free them they will be able to help us in the defense." Wayson spoke aloud for all to hear, knowing very well that most people here might consider letting the hostages just die but not him. He could only hope that they would agree with the idea of turning the helpless hostages into fighters, better they are able to help save their world than to be turned into bug food in Wayson's mind.

Wayson felt the need to look to the Sith but did his best to avoid staring, this was not the time to argue philosophy. Though perhaps he could build a bridge with them with this battle and hopefully maybe possibly use it to help them to come to the Light. The thought nearly got Wayson to laugh but he kept himself in control. The last thing he needed to do was start giggling about the silliness of worrying about people's souls when bugs were coming to blow up a nuclear reactor.

"I think our chances are good enough to try! At least then we can say we tried to save rhese people. Besides, Whats death anyways but another phase?"

I dusted a small amount of Dust from my Artificial limb. I hoped the jedi wasnt looking for an out! Though I guess I couldn't blame him, They were already stretched really thin

"My Father told me that one way to kill a Killik is to go for it's breathing spirackles. Id say we should gas them if we werent in a city. Also I think we should do something to cut off their pheromone comms, I hear they use Pheromones to communicate. That might cause a lot of panic among their ranks if we could figure out how to dilute and disrupt it. Though I'm not really an expert of any kind, Sir Jedi."

I hoped Romeo had a better grasp on how to kill bugs than I did... The best idea I had was gonna be gassing them and it wasn't a possibility. Whatever we did it'd need to be done quickly to prevent them from doing any damage or taking any more lives.

"Would the Captain of the Sec-rangers have any experience dealing with Killiks?"

Bryce gave the barrel of his Z-6 a spin to ensure that it was in proper working order. It was, of course, but there was something about feeling the metal cylinder glide effortlessly, as it was designed to, that comforted him. The soldier couldn't help but overhear the question directed at the Mandalorians by the Jedi (@Richie B.). Bryce kept his eyes on his weapon, but put in his professional opinion.

"We need some height to get a better angle on the bugs" he said. "Holding the high ground will allow us to shoot down over the captives instead of through them. Although, how much do we trust that the captives are actually prisoners?" He'd seen the news broadcasts claiming that these killiks were capable of taking over sentient creatures; Bryce wasn't about to painstakingly select his targets if the human shields were Joined, but he was voicing aloud out of the faint hope that his fellow Correllians hadn't been mind-controlled.

The young Chiss would try to contain a sigh as he heard of the idea saving the hostages being actually entertained. Of course it was by the Jedi no less (@Richie B.) It's pretty much safe to assume that the the 'hostages' are actually Joiners. "Abandon all hope for the hostages. We need to assume they have already become Joiners. We need to focus on what's really at stake. Preventing the power plant from going critical is all that matters." Davan knows about the Killiks very well as do the Chiss, probably better than everyone else here. Davan hoped the Jedi would reconsider, but Davan had a feeling that because he's young he many not be taken very seriously. But, the Jedi have a reputation for being holier-than-thou, foolish, and being hopelessly naïve to their own detriment.

Davan did look at the others who have arrived, more Sith, and some well-geared Mandalorians. They can do some damage, and most likely they will lack petty things such as morality that will get in the way of completing the primary goal. Davan was ready to go at any moment. It's almost time...

Bryce's thought that they needed to get some height to gain an advantage over the coming hordes was shared by a certain First Shadow of the Jedi Order. Drow had taken up position on top of a half-completed skyscraper with his repeater, overlooking the defenders and the power plant. The damn thing was a bitch and a half to set up and Drow had been grumbling the entire time that he'd much rather be killing Sith than helping them but he eventually got it in working order, prepared to rain death from above. The structure's incomplete nature meant that the walls were fairly open and Drow had a good overview of the land around them. That also meant that he was fairly unprotected from any attack but he was confident enough in his saber skills, honed as they were by Cin Drallig's holocron, to protect him from anything coming his way.

For once, he was not in disguise or undercover. As far as the galaxy knew, Drow had been officially exiled from the Order but they didn't think he was dead. So if a Sith spy or informant happened to see him here today, there was no reason for them to think that Drow was here in an official Jedi capacity. Hell, for all they knew, Drow had maybe gotten a job with an exterminator company.

"Damn bugs." Drow muttered as he set the repeater's sights on the streets, hidden from view for now.

Above the Core, circling still in the open and armed transport ship, Fleur Wescott continued her commentary on the scene below. "It appears reinforcements have arrived!"

The cameras panned down and zoomed in on the steps leading up the nuclear facility, showing defenders from all walks of life. "We're even spotting some Jedi, Sith...and Mandalorians? What a diverse little group. Let's hope they'll be able to get along long enough to protect the Core..."

** On the steps of the Core. **
[@LouJoVi @Richie B. @Phoenix @Kestrel @The Good Doctor @Faded @Sicadorito @Timmen @Nor'baal @SlagathorTheUnknown @Altaris @Tom]

The officer's face was covered by the visor of her helmet, but her body language clearly indicated that she was surprised to see the arrival of not only Sector Rangers and independent mercenaries, but Jedi, Sith, and Mandalorians as well. Though the officer was surprised, she was relieved to see them here.

Until they began to discuss the hostages.

"It is absolutely imperative that we attempt to save as many of the hostages as possible! Those are Corellian citizens!" she spoke with indignation. Though she spoke directly to @Grerse'dava'nlon initially, her head turned to pan the room. "Of- of course, saving the reactor is our first priority, but we cannot simply disregard their lives."'

Out from under the portico, down the stairs leading up to the plant, and out in the streets, the Killiks made their slow and steady approach. There were hundreds upon hundreds of them closing in, and off in the distance, there were even more. They traveled in distinguishable, but disorganized, groups led by a trio of Tainted Killiks. Surrounding each Tainted Killik were 10 regular ol' Killiks, or occasionally, a Joiner walking briskly to keep gait with the bugs. There were three of these groups approaching the quickest, almost 100 bodies between them, and they were headed straight for the steps of the Core. At their current pace, it wouldn't be 10 minutes before they were climbing the concrete steps toward the waiting defenders.

Unfortunately, there were more than bugs and the wretched Joiners amongst their ranks.

The hostages were held and forced forward by those marching in front. While the Corellian forces had been aware of the hostages' existence, what they hadn't realized until then was who the hostages were.

Children.

There were teenagers, schoolchildren, and species of all kinds. The Killiks - as it would become very apparent - did not care about the ages of the free folk. All were held firmly in front of a Killik, being used as literal meat shields against potential attacks. The children were in varying degrees of distress, and though many were screaming and calling out for help, some hung defeated in the Killiks' pinchers. Though it was difficult to pick out every single one from the crowd, there were at least fifty among them.

From his view up in the under-construction skyscraper, @Drow Venn would have a clear view of the Core nuclear power plant as well as the streets below leading up to it. He would clearly be able to make out the numbers in the three approaching groups of Killiks, as well as the hundreds that were following behind them off in the distance. At his height, he was about 70 meters from the street - easily within the range of his repeater. The Tainted Killiks might be the most obvious target, but upon closer inspection, the young hostages would not escape his notice.

Hi guys! A couple of things to note going forward:

(1) Now that the initial 48 hours are up, the thread is now CLOSED to any further joiners pun intended.
(2) Please, please, please either underline all your main actions, or summarize them in a [ spoiler ] at the bottom of your post (or both!). I would really appreciate it so I don't accidentally overlook anything anyone does!
(3) New DM posts will be up roughly every 48 hours. If you make any significant edits to your post after posting (changing actions, etc.), please tag me and let me know on Discord in the #killik-with-fire chat. Additionally, please refrain from making any major edits within one hour of the round deadline.
(4) Only one post per round per character going forward, please.
(5) Just to reiterate from Joining of Minds - like in PvP, you can only make attempts, not hits, when attacking NPCs

Thank you! I look forward to DMing for y'all <3

What a group. Varyn's eyes swept over everyone gathered. Jedi, Sith, even Mandalorians. Others from all across the galaxy had come to answer the call put out by Corellia. Most seemed to avoid the pair of Sith, but that was actually fine with Varyn. He wasn't here to socialize, and easier to maintain his cover if he wasn't being prodded by other Jedi.

What a weird group, he thought to himself with a shake of his head. He glanced back at Vahl and even with his helmet in place she would be able to recognize that he was dubious about this whole defense force.

That wasn't helped by the officer piping up and insisting on saving all the hostages. He hadn't even thought of the fact that they could not actually be hostages at all, but now that it had been mentioned, the thought stuck in his mind. His dedication to saving the hostages was... waning. Jedi-like of him? Some would probably say it wasn't, but some would also fail to save two billion people, so some could figure out exactly where to stick it.

And what are the other two billion people living here? he asked in reply to her statement that they were Corellian citizens. I'm sure we'll save them if we can, but as you said, the reactor is the first priority, he said. There, he'd said it. He probably should have felt dirty saying it, but he didn't.

We need to establish a fallback point. A line that if the Kiliks pass it we smoke everything. High explosives, air strikes, orbital strike, whatever it is, he said, knowing that what he was suggesting may well end up killing everyone here as well. It was... it was a sacrifice he was willing to make, though now that he'd voiced this he wished Vahl hadn't come with him. Not that he could have convinced her not to come.

Do we have that kind of ornance available? he asked the officer. Surely CorSec had something available to them with some real power. He didn't like the odds of ten people versus a hundred or more.

Goal is they never get to that point. Jedi and Sith up front with the goal of staying alive and drawing aggro. Blasters in the rear picking targets and dealing as much damage as you can? he proposed. It wasn't a terrible plan, and there was definitely absolutely no way that it was based on video game tactics. Either way, they didn't have long to decide, and if people agreed, Varyn would make good on moving up to the front of the groupto take... whatever was coming their way.

The dialogue is relevant and Varyn's going to move toward the front of the group to act as the first line.
