DESCRIPTION
The Kappa-class shuttle is a light transport originally manufactured by Republic Sienar Systems during the Clone Wars for use by the Grand Army of the Republic. Designed primarily as a ship-to-surface landing craft, the type was carried aboard most large Republic capital ships during the war, and was designed to participate in planetary landing operations, being able to carry a decent number of troops as well as light vehicles into combat.

The Kappa-class shuttle is a blocky, workmanlike vessel, reminiscent of later Imperial designs such as the Lambda class, albeit without the elegant folding wings. The Kappa is 35 meters in length, crewed by 4 beings and able to carry up to 40 passengers. The ship also carries 50 tons of cargo, consumables sufficient for a month in space, and up to 2 ultralight walkers, such as the AT-RT or AT-PT. The shuttle is itself armed, being equipped with a dorsal dual laser turret for defense, as well as two fixed laser cannons in the nose, useful for clearing out ground targets while unloading troops.

Kappa-class shuttles served with distinction through the Clone Wars, being most commonly deployed aboard Victory-class heavy cruisers. During the Imperial era, however, the type was largely removed from frontline service, being reallocated to low-priority sectors or retired outright as newer shuttle classes were built to replace them. Not a few Kappa-class shuttles wound up in the hands of the Alliance to Restore the Republic, serving in Rebel assault units and in logistical command. In the present day, however, after 3 major wars, the type is far less commonly seen.

LEGALITY
Legal. Though originally military vessels, shuttles such as the Kappa are considered innocuous enough under most jurisdictions, and are not restricted in most systems.

INTENT
To bring s ship from Legends canon into our site's fanon.
