Kamo

Kamo (pronounced / ˈkæm oʊ /) was a male Kararodon pirate from the planet Karkaris in the Nilgaard sector. A loyal supporter of the Karkarodon Protection League, the dominant faction of his homeworld who supported the remnants of the Confederacy of Independent Systems with whom the Karkaris political elite was strongly affiliated during the Clone Wars, Kamo participated in military operations against the Union, a Free Worlds Alliance-allied group opposed to the presence of the separatist elite.

The brutality and illegality of his actions were eventually brought before the Karkarodon Council of Elders. Despite having been employed by members of the Council who were supporters of the League themselves, he was sentenced to death since the proof of his guilt was absolute. However, his loyalty to the League's cause was so strong that he refused to implicate members of the Council in his actions. As a reward for his sacrifice, he was smuggled off-planet prior to his execution on the provision that he never returned to Karkaris.

Striking out toward the Kessel sector, Kamo turned to piracy and formed a group known as the Crimson Raiders around 127 ABY. Stealing two 5-555 "Quad-Five" Express Couriers and one VCX-100 Light Freighter to use as the basis of his pirate fleet, he entered into an arrangement with the regional crime lord, Durr the Hutt, who supplied him with freighter travel routes in exchange for a share of the pirates' take. Kamo used his small fleet to capture several vessels and intimidate primitive backwater planets throughout the Si'Klaata Cluster, the "finish line" of the infamous Kessel Run.

Personality and traits

Kamo, a Karkarodon with light grey coloration, was extremely loyal to the remnants of the Confederacy of Independent Systems and his people, truly believing that alter-globalization, a core principle heralded by the Free Worlds Alliance, was a threat to Karakaris' prosperity. He had no compunctions about employing violence against the Union opposition, and their allies of the Free Worlds Alliance, to ensure the supremacy of the Karkarodon Protection League. Even when faced with certain death, Kamo remained loyal to his ideals and refused to blame the Council that had condemned him. As a Karkarodon, Kamo was amphibious, capable of breathing both air and water and feeling equally at home in either. He was also ruthless, and it was well known that he would space any member of his crew if they were revealed to be a traitor.

A capable warrior, Kamo used to lead from the front during his time fighting the rebel political faction on Karkaris, personally overseeing operations to crush his ideological opponents. As his role and responsibilities changed when he formed the Crimson Raiders Kamo did not involve himself in front-line actions, preferring to remain on the Debonair, his personal vessel, during raids. He did, however, enjoy personally interrogating prisoners that the pirates captured.

Skills and abilities

Kamo was a pilot fully capable of flying both space transports and starfighters, and could plot complex courses through hyperspace. He was also skilled in the programming of droids, and the repair of starfighters. His position as leader of the Crimson Raiders gave Kamo an extensive knowledge of the planetary systems and other astrophysical landmarks within the Si'Klaata Cluster.

Equipment

Kamo favored using a vibro-staff and a blaster pistol in battle, and wore a blast vest and carried a comlink in addition to his weapons.
