The Naivety of Youth
Pre-Timeskip

"When you find enjoyment from knocking Rock and Sand Vipers off your property, you know you're a Moisture Farmer...God I hate this planet!"

Kal Glider is a charming young spirit, stuck on a desolate and arid world. He is known by the locals as someone that has inherited not only his father's looks, but personality. Whether it's helping prepare for an incoming dust storm or the occasional pest control, Kal is there to help his neighbors and friends. While he won't make promises to just anyone, but if he happens to state he's going to do something, he goes out of his way to keep that promise.

Forced to grow up at a young age, Kal has been working on moisture farms since he was 8 years old. When his mother died from illness, and his father subsequent spiral into countless nights of drunken stupor--Kal had no other choice, but to begin to become the guardian of his little sister. Because of this Kal is someone that has had a sense of independence for a long time; he doesn't need help nor likes to ask or admit that he needs it.

While many of his neighbors and friends know him as being a dependable big brother, they know deep down that he yearns to be off the dusty rock of Ord Cestus. He has this contagious desire for adventure and thrill, and often seeks to try and make things as lively as possible on the homestead. He also has one of the biggest smiles in all of the D'Astan Sector--and with it he will attempt to sweet talk any person that he fancies or needs at that moment.

This isn't to say that Kal doesn't come without his flaws. Those that get to know him, find that he has many insecurities buried deep within him. He has streaks of envy and jealousy that often poke their head when others begin to flaunt their own prowess or prestige. He absolutely hates it when someone he dislikes is able to achieve some sort of success, and he will often voice his discontent--no matter how petty the achievement may be.

Kal is also extremely disorganized and his own personal spaces can often be seen cluttered with nonsense, that would drive any normal person insane. Not only does his organization skills affect his personal spaces, but also his descision planning. Whether it's a plan to set traps to stop a Sandwasp infestation or a route in town to avoid some of the local scum--he will often come up with ideas on the spur of the moment that are reckless and really can only be truly understood by himself. It's this lack of communication and foresight that will anger the most temperamental of people.

If there is credits involved Kal will certainly be around. He dreams of fame and credits and will do anything to acquire it, even if it means throwing himself into a dangerous situation.

Haunting Memories
Post-Timeskip

"Hate to break it to you kid, but becomin' a smuggler is a fool's journey, the only thing waiting for you is Imperial blockades, kriffin' dull drinks, and small men with big egos."
A flash of crimson followed by a trail of fiery destruction raging against a quiet forest, flashes of blue hair and pink skin dancing through neon lights--slowly fading away. Followed by a trail of star fighters and ships streaking through a snowy landscape as trails of lasers and bombs flew about. A ship crashing into the icy depths, followed by a crimson blade striking through the heart of his closest friend, or so he believed. These dreams continue to haunt the older Kal Glider during his moments of slumber or periods of isolation.

After the daring expedition on the planet Ziost, Kal along with many others were presumed to have perished during the mission. Yet, a more insidious fate awaited the once naive smuggler--that of Imperial Death Camps. For years Kal worked through grueling minor expeditions on the snowy planet, along side some of the Empire's most notorious enemies and cruelest overseers.

It was during this time that Kal developed a deep hatred for the Empire, who had killed his younger sister and presumably his closest ally and friend. This would only continue to grow as his body became malnourished at the hands of the Empire--becoming blind in his left when an Imperial Warden struck him across the face, leaving a scar that jetted across the top of his forehead to the latter half of his nose. Along with becoming deaf due to the continuous sound of the booming mining devices--which left the prisoner with a slight gimp in his left leg.

Kal no longer has patience for trivial matters or for pointless fights. Inside, he is battling against the demons of his past and coming to grips that he had lost the people closest to him in life. The cybernetic implants that were installed to help his failed body parts only help to remind him of his past self.

No longer caring about credits, Kal seeks to find a solution to ease the pain in his heart. He is now much more guarded about his life, and doesn't speak freely about his memories or experiences. His charm has survived the frigid winters of Ziost, though it's clear that he had become distant and detached from most things that are happening around him. But, if ghosts of his past do arise and appear, Kal will feverishly seek them out in hopes of finding the answers that he needs.

A Farmer's yearning Dream
Dust and sand were the only possessions that the Glider family could promise to each new generation. Growing up on the arid planet of Ord Cestus was hard and rather boring, but to those that never knew anything outside of the red sands it was simply the way of life. Kal Glider was the first born child of Karrin and Wedge Glider, and was expected to follow in his father's footsteps and become a moisture farmer.

Kal went along with his father and mother's wishes, but with each passing outlander, he began to wonder what the galaxy had to offer. He became fascinated with starships and would often spend his little allowance on miniature replicas and databooks--though he kept his dreams a secret from his father. He would end up spending most of his early childhood learning to become a farmhand on his father's Moisture Farm or watching his baby sister, Sena Glider.
Though, things would being to take a turn for the worse when his mother fell ill. His once proud father had become complacent and distant from the world, even his own children. This is when Kal turned towards protecting and raising his little sister. Kal had pushed his dreams and aspirations away and accepted his fate--he would become a farmer.

When his mother died his father began replacing his family with the bottle. Every night his father would come home in a drunken stupor and cause a ruckus--which created a strain in the relationship between Kal and his father. At the age of 16, Kal was forced to take control of the house when he learned that his father had acquired a large sum of debt from the local crime boss, Higo Sunstrider, and was killed off by the gangster.

With his parents gone, Kal has gone on to become much like his family before him, a simple farmer with dreams long forgotten. He now spends his days working long hours in attempts to free him and his sister from the Sunstrider debt and to ultimately leave Ord Cestus behind.
