It took a while before Sevrin was finally up near the nest, but he moved as quickly as possible. The Jedi leaped across several different rock spires before spotting the nest. He could see the two padawans, spotting that Felix was bleeding and Crix was scrambling to get away.

They were above the clouds now, the air frigid against the skin. Sevrin kept his focus on the birds, channeling the Force to manipulate the air around the beasts. Within seconds, there was seemingly a massive gust of wind that caught the wings and sent both birds whirling backwards as if they were in a tornado. Aerokinesis was not a commonly applied Force power, but Sevrin was known to be unorthodox in his approach.

“Retrieve them!” He called out to Willa and Wurfuhlla. Sevrin could have gotten them, but he wanted the padawans to have direct experience in extracting their brethren and problem solving. The Sephi kept a calm resolve, leaping over the last few spires to land directly by the nest. He stood as a shield to face the birds with Crix and Felix behind him. Sevrin would keep them at bay while Willa and Wurfuhlla acted.

“Temper your mind and focus!” He called out to them all once again. He would repeat the message as many times as it took to sink in.

The two birds shrieked as they fought against the wind that knocked into them like an invisible train. They rotated and spun in the air, crying out shrilly as they battled against Sevrin’s Force use. The Sephi wouldn’t be able to hold this for too long, but he hoped to ward the birds off to allow a rescue.

Wurfuhlla followed suit right behind Sevrin, also in a swift hurry to save his brethren from the nest of giant bird like creatures. This was adrenaline pumping, and heart racing feelings going through the body of the Wookiee. They had to hurry.

Once the trio of Jedi made it to the best where Felix, and Crix were klinging to dear life, they had begun doing exactly as Sevrin commanded. Wurfuhlla scooped up Felix with one arm, holding him above his shoulder. Then as he began to hop out of the nest and safely down the mountain to a safe distance.

“I’m so glad we found you!!” He said in Shyriiwook. Unfortunately he was focusing on using the force to sustain their landings, so translating to the common tongue was not possible in the moment.

Wurfuhlla stopped in an open area surrounded by trees awaiting the regrouping of Willa, Crix, and their guide Sevrin. In the meantime he was able to force translate to Felix some quick words.

“Sorry I know you couldn’t understand me but now it should be easier. I’m glad you’re okay. I’m sorry I failed guiding you..”

The Wookiee felt bad for not being able to keep Felix safe. Although he never knew him until today he was responsible for his safety and failed and it felt like failing a close friend.

Crix remembered when he was younger that he once asked his mom how it was that she could go into danger all the time. Of course his mom was braver than anyone he had ever met, even now, but back then he believed she just naturally assumed she wasn't afraid of anything. He'd asked her because she had a slip of the tongue and mentioned that she had been, well, afraid before heading in on a raid.

She didn't use those words exactly - he'd long since forgotten the conversation's details - but he remembered her answer even now.

Trust in your partners, in your team.

It hadn't taken a second of hesitation for Crix to thrust himself into the position where he was working in concert with Felix. He provided the plan, he provided the opportunity and he trusted that Felix would hold up his end of the bargain. Whereas he immediately threw himself into the illusion Felix... didn't.

He left him, limping and crawling away and leaving Crix desperately holding up half an illusion.

"Felix?!"

The bird closet to him reacted to his shout, beak darting down to clamp down on his left wrist. Roaring in pain, Crix pulled back as he rapidly enhanced his hand and wrist with the Force to avoid losing it. Instead the bird yanked... and Crix's arm made moves to go with it's head. Pain lanced through him as his left arm was dislocated at the shoulder before the bird let out a squark of alarm and was suddenly gone.

He could feel others in the Force around him as the others arrived but he didn't care. His free hand, his right hand, reached up and he tore the blindfold from his face. Looking down at his left arm, he winced. His left wrist was bleeding profusely despite the enhancement and his entire left arm was hanging uselessly by his side. Swallowing thickly, he tried to swallow the pain as he backed away, moving to stand behind Sevrin.

Crix couldn't tell how badly he was bleeding from the wrist but he knew it wasn't slowing down even now.

She winced in pain at the sound of snapping bone, and even from here she could smell the blood. But even through the Force, she could feel flickers of it, of the pain. With the Knight keeping the birds at bay, she lunged up with the Force towards the nest, her sole focus on getting to her friend. She hadn't gotten there fast enough, though she strained hard to reach him in record time.

She would bring him back no matter what, but she wasn't going to just be grabbing him. He was hurt!

Reaching out, her hand skimmed against his arm where it hung. It would take some energy, but she didn't have a medpac on hand. She remembered Max mentioning the time he and Sati were stranded on Kashyyyk, and the stern reminder of some basic first aid, at least.

At least stem the bleeding. At least that.

A soft glow touched from her hand, the intent simple as she cleared her mind. She couldn't let worry or fear consume her thoughts; there was too much at stake, and she wouldn't keep the Knight Valtiere waiting for long. She visualized the blood flow stemming, then slowing, flesh knitting partially. It would be enough to keep him bleeding out, but it was also enough to bring a sweat to her brow, her breathing more labored than it had been before.

She wasn't sapped yet, but it would make the trip back that much more difficult, especially if his arm was broken.

The way it hung like that left a sour tang in the back of her throat. She didn't have enough first aid to help with that yet, and this place wasn't the kind of area she'd want to linger in. A torn strip fom her tunic hem would have to do to bind the wrist hastily to keep him from bleeding out more. Instead, she wrapped her arm around his waist, augmenting her strength in the Force and looking up at him. "Hold onto me."

She had to trust in the others to get out, but her obligation was to keep her partner safe. Still, if she had to, she'd have to figure out a way to protect the other two as well, if push came to shove. She had been tasked to work with her partner, and she would absolutely work with Crix to get them all to relative safety once more.

Limping towards Crix he heard the crunchy pop of his arm as the bird pulled just as the Wurf found him and scooped him over his shoulder. Felix didn't try to struggle as Wurf travelled down the mountain, he knew better than to try to escape the wookies grasp, it was just better to let him win.

As he was carried a pang of regret hit Felix as he thought of what just happened and the consequence, of his failure to help Crix. He was quiet as Wurf apologized to him, his mind wrapped up in his own thought.

"It's okay, you tried your best and you got me to safety." his voice soft and quiet, his eyes to the ground. Felix felt like he should one apologizing for being a lousy teammate and Jedi.

Sevrin’s actions kept the birds at bay though one of them managed to hurt Crix. The Sephi launched a powerful blast with the Force to send them hurtling away through the air. While it would throw them off, it wouldn’t kill them. It was not the Jedi way to unnecessarily kill and disrupt the balance of life when alternate methods could work.

Once he was sure the others were safely out of the immediate area, Sevrin turned and hopped back over the stone spires to make his way to them. He turned and used the Force to call forth a haze in the air that would severely limit the visibility of the birds and make it impossible for them to follow.

The Sephi regrouped with the others, but he made his way directly to Crix first. Sevrin’s face was grim as he gently turned the padawan to face him, gingerly reaching for his injured hand.

“Excellent work and quick thinking, Padawan Kanz,” He said with genuine admiration in his tone. Sevrin channeled the Force and applied it to Crix’s arm, a soft and golden hue illuminating the injury. He would feel a warm and relaxing sensation as the pain quickly abated. The injury itself began to close to a degree, though it wouldn’t be entirely gone.

Always prepared, Sevrin next reached for a medpack and quickly applied bacta and patching to neatly fix up the arm. He stepped back after a while, “It should be stable now.”

He turned to regard Felix for a moment, “Do not dwell on past mistakes, padawan. Learn from them and know to trust and work in concert with your brethren.”

Sevrin didn’t linger too long before he took a few steps and glanced down at the ledges he had created along the mountain face. It was a steep path down, but it was the only way. He glanced over at the rest of them, “Are you prepared to keep moving?”

Finally the others made it back safely. Of course they did. They had Sevrin and they were of course Jedi. Some injuries were had. At least it wasn’t death. Plus Crix has a cool scar to tell stories of. If he chose to look at it that way anyway.

The Knight had helped heal Crix’s injuries. It was something he had never seen before. His head tilted in confusion of how it was even possible. Unfortunately for the Wookiee, now was not the time to ask about it. Maybe back at the temple once Crix and Felix are safe.

Wurfuhlla had looked to Sevrin as he asked of continued travels. Wurfuhlla was ready of course. Was Felix though? The Wookiee knew he would be carrying him so he wanted to be sure that when he picked him up that he was ready.

“Are you ready Felix?”

Wurfuhlla knelt down next to his fellow brother in the force and awaited an answer.

His wrist didn’t actually hurt as much as his arm did, the whole thing having come loose out of the socket at the shoulder. And all because his illusion was incomplete because he didn’t get any kind of support from someone he was supposed to trust. The pain wasn’t great but he could deal with it, he could push through it.

What he couldn’t push through so quickly was the rising anger that built up in his chest at having been abandoned by an ally.

Willa supporting him was appreciated and, to begin with, necessary. The pain was distracting and it was accompanied with some blood loss that he couldn’t really quantify – how did you say how much was much without some medical training – but he knew it wasn’t good.

“Thanks Willa…”
he muttered, frowning as he was led away, his breath catching in his throat slightly as Sevrin reached out and touched him, “Sevrin…”

The touch was soothing, a calming of a storm that had been building. Crix was self-aware enough to know that he was a hot-head at times and he was certainly beginning to feel his temper beginning to flare. But the healing touch of the Force and the fact that it was Sevrin?

His cheeks reddened ever so slightly as the wound on his wrist healed itself more than it had been before. Between Sevrin and Willa the wound on his wrist was beginning to show signs of being non-serious. Of course his shoulder was still dislocated but that was something he just had to man up and sort out himself.

He smiled a little bit, his temper beginning to cool, right up until Sevrin spoke again after healing him. His expression froze on his face as his temper flared.

“… what.”
He ground out, “No – no that’s bullshit. You… you… not even you get to forgive things on my behalf like that, like they didn’t happen just because it’s been fixed!”

He stomped forward, pushing past Sevrin to take a swing at Felix with his good hand. Powering through the lingering pain, he would swing to plant his fist in Felix’s gut hard enough to leave the other Padawan retch. He would glare at Felix the entire time even as he stepped away from him.

“But hey, at least this time when you karked up you didn’t kill half a dozen civilians.”
He growled, literally spitting on the ground before turning away, “If failure is such a greater teacher… keep on going the way you are, Felix, and we’ll be calling you Grandmaster before the year is over.”

Seizing his own left arm with the Force, he took several deep breaths, psyching himself up before using it to Pull his own arm back into the socket of his shoulder. Letting out a cry of pain, he stifled it as quickly as possible. Letting himself seem weak in front of them all… in front of Willa… Sevrin? It filled his throat with bile just to think about it.

Standing to his full height, he would school his features and his own emotions to become carefully blank as he nodded once to Sevrin.

“Let’s just move on.”

The anger was still there and so was a touch of… disappointment? Something like that. It sat heavy in his gut and he hated it but it didn’t budge.

She flushed at Knight Valtiere's praise once they were in a stable place to regroup. It was ridiculous to feel warm over any positive words, but it was nice all the same. It was a combination of that and the mild fatigue from healing that she didn't have time to react. Sagging against one stone wall, she had realized a moment too late the low build of anger wasn't her own. There was still the link between them, and her eyes flashed to Crix as he suddenly advanced on Felix, throwing a hand out.

"Hey, wait-!"

She stood, rooted to the ground in stunned shock at his venomous words. She had seen him angry before, but never so directed. She felt like she'd been sucker-punched herself, recoiling slightly at his words, before flicking her gaze to Felix. She'd heard he got in some trouble at Denon, but those had to just be rumors, right? They couldn't be true.

Her gaze snapped back to Crix as he Pulled his arm back in place, this time stepping forward again.

She didn't mind the group around them, all she could feel was his anger, and other, heavier feelings weighing him down. This side of Crix was something new, something that almost scared her. It was an aspect of the boy, and not for the first time she was aware he wasn't just her childhood buddy, but an adult. And with that territory came complications, but it was more than that.

He wasn't just hurt physically. It was true, Felix karked up, but the way Crix reacted was... a bit much, even by her standards. So she stepped up to him, and lightly touched his uninjured arm. There was some trepidation to approach him when he was this angry; he could still lash out, but she would still stand there.

After all, what were best friends for?

"Hey," she spoke, meeting the Knight's eyes. "You guys go on ahead, I need to look at his arm a little longer. We won't be far behind."

She was a Jedi. So were they all. But moving forward with emotions this high didn't feel right. However, her tone didn't really brook much argument. Giving Felix and Crix some space apart from each other would be necessary.

His eyes came up at Sevrin's words of support, he glanced to Crix as he spoke before they shot back to the ground. He could hear someone approaching but he couldn't muster the courage to look up. he knew he had to apologise.

"I'm-uggh" The air left his lungs as the punch connected with his gut, his body crumpling around the impact with him falling to his knees as he gasped for air, take heavy gulps of it as he listened to Crix's cutting words and something in him just broke, snapped. All the negative emotions that had been festering inside him ever sine Denon had just burst like a blister of puss.

His hands formed fists as his breath became less laboured. without a word, he wrapped the force around Crix's ankles and pulled, aiming to get Crix flat on his back. without hesitation, Felix would get on top of the other padawan, grab the top of Crix's robes and pulled up him into a head butt, letting go of him, he would begin to punch down at his face unrelentingly, blind to all things around him.

Sevrin tilted his head slightly as Crix rushed past him and took a swing at the other padawan. The Sephi turned around fully to observe, watching until Felix reacted by dropping Crix on his back. They both had their hits in and that’s when the Force coiled around them both to pin them where they stood or laid.

The Sephi exhaled slowly before he turned to regard Crix and then Felix. His expression hadn’t changed the entire time. He had sensed enough intent from both padawans to know they planned on harming one another till the other was beaten to a bloody pulp.

“I’m not going to lecture you both about what you’ve done because both of you are keenly aware of how dimwitted it was,” He lowered his gaze, his tone somber as he spoke more than angry, “But understand that even the best Jedi make mistakes,” He looked at Crix, “Know that some of the most daring rescues could have been considered mistakes,” His gaze lingered on the half Zabrak, the frosty gaze vividly reminding him of the debacle at Sullust. The terrible plan that ultimately saw his mother rescued. There were many among the Jedi that thought the operation was not worth it and would have opted to leave the Ranger there as it was a foolish endeavor. It did not impact the lives of the many and placed too much value on the life of one.

He then looked at Felix, “And understand that part of making a mistake is admitting wrongdoing and reflecting on it,” His gaze was stern, reminding him clearly of never taking time to process his failings on Denon and even earlier in working with Crix.

“If we fight amongst ourselves over every mistake made, we shame ourselves and also the memories of Jedi like Master Tionson, Knight Talak and many others that made quick, abrupt decisions without knowing how it would end. There is only one constant at the end of it,” He looked from one to the other, “At the end of it, you are on the same side. There is a whole galaxy out there prepared to be our enemies, you need not make them of your brethren.”

Sevrin was going to say no more on the topic. He motioned for them to begin their way down the mountain one by one.

Wurfuhlla was ready to help Felix up but Crix had other plans. Sending a fist into the body of Felix. What was that for?

“Hey, what are you doing??”

Wurfuhlla let out that statement in Shyriiwook. May not have been easy to understand but he was sure that they got the idea. Soon after Crix’s attack, Felix made one of his own. Why would these two give into their anger? They know it leads to a path on the Dark Side. Idiotic.

Knight Sevrin had spoke some sort of sense into the two for the moments being. All the Wookiee padawan can hope for is that they can refrain from trying to kill each other before making it off world. Surely they could at least do that.

Once the knight motion for the group to head down the mountain, Wurfuhlla was the first to begin. He knew better than to disobey the orders of the Knight. There was a lot of trust that had to remain in the group. For now, it felt like that trust was fading.

Hitting the ground before he had managed to pop his arm back into place was painful to be sure, much worse than simply hitting the ground. Angling his head ensured that Felix’s headbutt caught Crix on his own forehead rather than the nose, bruising him but not causing his nose to burst open like the irresponsible shrak-heel probably wanted.

Shame he hadn’t had enough warning to angle his head enough to get the karker to headbutt his horns.

Before anything more could really happen, Sevrin forcibly separated the two Padawans and Crix was left just laying there in the dirt. He met the Knight’s gaze when he boldly seemed to claim that the rescue of Trys Aran was in someway comparable to driving a speeder into civilians or completely ignoring an ally in need.

But the main difference as far as he could see?

Crix had paid the price for Sullust.

Talak had paid the price for Sullust.

Hans had paid the price for Sullust.

What price had Felix paid for Denon? For almost getting Crix killed by literally ignoring him?

Kark all.

“Everybody makes mistakes…”

The whole thing was just… Crix was done with it. He turned away from Sevrin, for once since he had met the older Knight, sick of looking at him. If Sevrin really thought those two things were comparable? Thought that rescuing his mother from the hands of the Sith was a mistake as could be taken as implied?

Then Sevrin wasn’t anywhere near the man Crix thought that he was.

Pulling himself up to his feet, Crix ignored Felix and Sevrin as he pushed himself forward. His realignment of his arm had been interrupted and, frankly, he didn’t trust himself to focus on it right now, not with his head in the space that it was. Instead he just mutely followed the crowd down the mountain.

Everybody made mistakes but, apparently, only some of them had to actually pay for them… ugh he was getting salty, he needed to meditate and get the hell over this whole thing. Move on and get on with his own work and let Felix explode on his own, far away from him.

he managed to get his head butt in before his body stopped and they were separated. as Sevrin spoke, Felix's heavy breathing slowly calmed as his anger cooled down with it, his mind thinking more clearly.

what he did was stupid he knew that but in that moment, it felt justified and gratifying to release some of that pressure that had been building up in him.

his eye kept bouncing between Crix, Sevrin and the ground once they started moving again he walked beside Wurf in the front. "I'm... sorry you had to see that" his words hushed and quiet, not wanting to be overheard by Crix.

She scowled at the pair of them scuffling, however Sevrin's sharp words brought out a look from Willa. At the mention of Max, she flinched, then immediately looked away. Had she been doing right by his memory? Did she at least prove herself to be a decent Jedi so far? She was the last to go; she gazed at the Knight steadily, honey-golden eyes calm.

"I only hope I can live up to the example of my master. Please don't be too angry with Crix... I don't know Felix too well, but I know Crix. And he's one of the strongest people I know. But you're right... we have enough enemies as it is."

With that, she turned away, and began the focus of the long climb. She had a lot to think over. The healing. The balance of democracy amongst others.

Perhaps... she found her calling.

Sevrin could sense spikes of alarming emotions from Crix. It came from Felix as well, but it was nowhere near the raw slivers of what almost felt like darkness from Crix. The Sephi looked at the others and motioned for them to make their way down. He walked towards Crix, coiling the Force around him gently to make it clear he intended the half Zabrak to stay behind for a moment.

He stepped up next to him, silver gaze quietly analyzing for a moment. He said nothing briefly, collecting his thoughts before he spoke, “You are not fit for Jedi Shadow,” He stated very matter of factly, “If you are of the opinion that everything demands a pound of flesh, you think no differently than the Sith. Being a Jedi Shadow means to not only understand how the Sith think, but to remain calm through every storm. You have managed to achieve only hints of the former which makes you nothing more than a liability.”

Sevrin was not going to sugarcoat things. If Crix lashed out again or continued to act like a child, there would be even further consequences. The Sephi would not admonish Crix in front of the other padawans, but he wouldn’t let this go either.

“You will clean up your act from here on out and remember who you are and why you are here,” He said icily, “I will not abandon a student, but I will cancel this entire mission if it means having to take you back to the temple. Make your choice now.”

Sevrin would have a separate chat with Felix, but also not in front of his fellow students.

Regardless of what choice Crix made, the Sephi would begin to make his way down the mountain again to join the others.

Sevrin wanted him to hang back and Crix was doing his best to work through his feelings one by one, confronting them and dealing with them as best as he could in a short period of time. He… wasn’t as good at doing it on the fly as he needed to be but he wasn’t going to just stop because he wasn’t the best at it yet. It was difficult but he was doing it because it was difficult, not because it was easy, or something.

Physically he slowed himself down to let the others go ahead of himself and, aided by the Force, he took the chance to set his shoulder. It hadn’t been set before his dust-up with Felix so he needed to get it sorted out. Sevrin stepped up to him and Crix didn’t say anything as the two of them stared at each other for a moment.

There was anything of the awkwardness from before because the conversation was a lot more serious than how hot Crix found the older man. He stood in silence as Sevrin gave his scathing assessment of him but if he expected Crix to be upset about the first part?

He would be surprised.

Crix relaxed ever so slightly when he was told that he was not fit to be a Jedi Shadow because he had seriously, honestly, never wanted to be one. It was expected that the Padawan of the leader of the Shadows would want to be one, it was expected that he couldn’t possibly disagree with the Shadows because of that same fact and it was expected that just because Hans had taught him some of the skills required to be a Shadow that he would be one.

“I understand, master.” The Padawan confirmed as he let out a slow breath and nodded once, “It comes as a relief, honestly.”

He didn’t want to be Hans – the being a great Jedi part? Still all in on that part. But being able to engage and combat the Dark Side from the shade as a Shadow? Crix didn’t want that for himself, knew that he never would either. The pound of flesh bit? He thought about it more before answering.

“It’s not about flesh, it’s about consequences. Accountability. I took it too far in an extreme though and I’ll apologize to Felix when I can.”
He admitted quietly before firming his shoulders up and slipping into his teachings more, shunting his emotions to one side entirely, “I won’t be a problem.”

Whether Sevrin believed that Crix was able to keep going with the missions despite having an outburst earlier? That was up to the Knight.

The Wookiee Padawan continued the walk down next to Felix. The rest of the group walking behind them. Wurfuhlla was listening to what the fellow Padawan, Felix had said to him. It was an apology for being witness to a squabble between fellow students. It hadn't bothered Wurfuhlla that much really. People fight sometimes, he understood that. The anger was natural, though against the code of the Jedi Order. Anger led to hate, hate led to the dark side. One had to be strong willed to always harness the light. The Padawans here today, hadn't shown that very. Though they did know that. Wurfuhlla would look to Felix and say,

"It's okay, people fight sometimes. You just have to try to keep a level head. People try to get under your skin, then just ignore it. You got angry, lashed out.. those are signs of the dark side. You have to be more careful and mindful of your actions."

Had Sevrin not been here, the two Padawans would have probably continued to fight until one was declared the loser. Wurfuhlla was strong enough to pull them apart but they seemed pretty adamant on breaking each other. Having the journey chaperoned by the Jedi Sevrin was definitely the right idea. The birds, the fight.. clearly Padawan Learners on their own was a very bad idea. Hopefully the two would move past this through forgiveness..

"Forgiveness.. A form of caring.. one of the ways of the Jedi. You should forgive Crix.. even if it isn't today, you too should forgive each other.. it's only what the ancient Jedi of old would have wanted."

Felix continued to follow beside Wurf down the mountain silent whilst Wookie talked, every word he said was easier spoken than done in practice.

"I'm... not mad or angry at Crix, I'm mad at myself. I know better than this but with everything that has happened when he punched me something in me just... burst" he didn't know exactly how to describe what happened but hopefully Wulf would have some idea what he meant and understand.

He was regretting how he escalated things with Crix, ashamed of himself and his actions, he needed and wanted to apologises

More than anything, she wanted to train to be a Shadow. To fight the good fight not directly, but to strike out and defend the galaxy was just the sort of thing she lived for. She knew she had a lot to learn; her fear of losing Crix was one of those things. But seeing him get that angry made her feel... uncertain.

Did she actually even know him?

Still, she descended in silence, waiting the Knight's judgement.
