It wasn't her case, however, the Ranger's and local detectives assigned were having a tough time finding a break to give them any lead to the perpetrator. This was not any area that Thalia was familiar with, her expertise lied in black market weapons, this case involved murders. It probably would not have been too much of a bother, murders happened regularly, but their suspect was a child murderer and had racked up several bodies over the last few months. Who ever it was, did not have a preference of species or gender, it seemed to be random, but then again, it was not as random as they wanted to believe it to be. However, every time the detectives had thought they were narrowing in on a suspect, things changed.
The latest victim, a twi'lek youngling, had gone missing a few days earlier. His parents were more wealthy than previous victims, but regardless of the amount of credits that were poured into finding their son's whereabouts it did not save him. Most of the child's body was found in an abandoned building; pieces of his body were set ritualistically around the room, and some were not all found. It was believed they were consumed as indicated by the organic matter left behind on a plate with a fork.
Forensics had finished quickly and the front of the building was already becoming a memorial and Thalia was certain she saw something on the holo about the place being torn down to make a memorial garden for the victim and those who were murdered before him. It was noble, but Thalia did not care much for what the families did; she wanted answers as much as the detectives assigned to this case. She heard they consulted a Jedi, but they did not seem to be bothered and were wary in delving their attention to a matter that seemed trivial compared to whatever else there was to focus on in the galaxy. She had to decided she would as Byron about it later, but they seemed like they couldn't even be bothered to help their padawan learners from what she could tell.
She watched as another family arrived, gawked at the building and laid down some flowers and a toy. She wondered if anyone who had visited the site was the person they were looking for; she heard some killers enjoyed returning to the site. But, she wanted to help in some way, there was a pain and suffering she could feel even within her Ranger brethren in not being able to close case. Glancing down at her finger tips, she rubbed them together, knowing her own gift in psychometry. There were warnings to be careful on how she used the ability, but she believed if she were too careful or too cautious, her abilities could go to waste and where justice could be served, would never find that end.
Sliding her hands back into the pockets of her jacket, she walked up to the memorial, looking it over, reading the notes and cards that lined along the sidewalk. Someone else approached, stopped and then continued onward. Her own senses reach outward, feeling the cold that seemed to wrap itself around the place and she begun to look for a doorway inside.
