Some in the modern Jedi and Sith orders continue to use them for the convenience and flexibility the set up affords.

The belts have an array of pouches and clips usually customized for or by the wearer. A lightsaber clip of some kind is the most prominent, anything between a simple hook to a magnetic plate and switch. The pouches contain a variety of commonly used tools and utility item while the belt itself can have miscellaneous doodads clipped to it.

The standard assortment includes: A commlink, fibercord grappling hook or grapple spike launcher, a holoprojector, an Aquata breather or other compact rebreather, Jedi or Sith beacon transceiver, a glow rod, and lightsaber repair tools. Also common are food pouches as well as food and energy capsules for the Force user on the go, and many add extra pouches to keep personal items, tools, and clips for additional gear or holsters for small arms and melee weapons.
