Jedi Mission Rewards

Intent

While the Sith have been building an empire and gathering assets, the Jedi currently lack in terms of assets and allies. As the Jedi, at least in their current state, do not have the resources, the manpower, or the ideology to justify giving out troops or ships or control of planets, I am attempting to tweak the Imperial model to one that will work for the Jedi. A way to incentivize players with the introduction of the Jedi Watchmen and a potential precursor to a Jedi Army.

What I am proposing here is a system that will tie in with Jedi ideologies and still provide Jedi players with the means to build up the Faction and bring it to a position where we can face the Sith. The premise is fairly simple, the Jedi can't go around conquering worlds, so we need to gather allies by other means. Jedi travel to a world, perform missions that help the locals in some meaningful way, and some of the locals then volunteer to work with the Jedi. This way each Jedi starts gathering NPC support of their own, and over time this could build up into something like the Army of Light.

But if you don't want to gather an army and instead think that a Jedi's job is to protect then I propose the role of Jedi Watchman.

Jedi Watchmen

In Legends, Jedi Watchman was a specialized role of the Jedi Sentinels who operated throughout the galaxy as guardians of specific planets or star systems. These Jedi Knights opted to stay in one place, operating alongside a sector or system government and ensuring diplomacy was maintained in all matters.

This version of the Watchmen will be responsible for one planet, sector, or more, depending on the level and activity of the character. You will be tasked with organizing missions within your protectorate to improve relationships with the locals and ultimately gain allies for the Jedi Order.

This of course does not mean that you will be restricted to that one planet, you are free to play your Jedi everywhere you would otherwise have. All we are giving you is the responsibility and freedom to mould a world as you see fit. Do missions to improve the state of affairs on the planet, build schools or hospitals or if your character is more combat oriented help them build up their military. Either way, you will build up your influence on the planet. A Jedi Healer could turn a planet into the premier medical destination in the Galaxy, or a Scholar could build up a center of knowledge that could put Ossus to shame. It's your playground, go crazy!

P.S. This influence is not to be confused with the private ownership/leadership of a world that is allowed to character on attaining a Level 3 rank. The planet is still run by its government, the Watchmen are simply operating there to build up Jedi influence by working alongside the government and upon reaching level 3 can claim greater influence on the planet if they want.

Jedi Army

This one is more tentative, but could have an even greater impact on the future of the faction. While the Watchmen will work towards improving Jedi reputation across the Galaxy and make new allies, we will also need more tangible assets if we are to face the growing might of the Sith Empire.

So instead of using the missions to work towards becoming a Watchman, you could build up a guerrilla force of your own. You can then use these troops to carry out missions to acquire more troops, weapons, and ships for the Jedi. Over time, with enough people building up squads of their own we could move towards a

How it Works

As your character completes missions on behalf of the faction, they will be able to submit those missions for rewards. A list of rewards is below and is broken down for availability based on the rank of your character. For obvious reasons, higher ranked characters have more access to rewards than those of lower ranks, but fear not, as you complete missions, you will gain credits! Each of these rewards are still faction assets and are ultimately reportable to those at the top of the Jedi Order, but this rewards individuals who are getting involved with more responsibility and sway within the faction.

Running Missions

In addition to personally taking part in missions, as your character rises through the ranks, they are able to and expected to be proactive in their duties as a Jedi. Members who are Jedi Masters may design and launch missions for other members of the faction.

Upon successful completion of these missions, you may submit them for rewards for the character who is running them IC, and each completed pack counts as two missions for the purpose of rewards. Before launching your missions, you must submit them for review to one of the members of the Jedi Council to ensure they do not conflict with any current operations.

Faction Rewards

Below are a list of rewards that may be applied for. Please note, as these are faction assets, they may be used but not "willy-nilly." If members are found "going rogue" with faction assets, punishments will be dealt out harshly and accordingly.

Base Level Missions:
  • Two completed missions: You have shown commitment to the people of the Galaxy, and over the course of your activities have gathered a group of 10 civilian operatives (?? if Jedi Master) who have chosen to follow you and help you improve the Galaxy. These operatives may be PC or NPC characters.
  • Three completed missions: You can claim Jedi assistance in the construction of a structure on a planet of your choosing, forming the foundation of your tenure as a Watchman. Or you can claim a non-advanced ship to help transport you and your fledgling guerrilla force.
  • Four completed missions: By displaying your continued commitment and responsibility to the Council, you have shown yourself to be a Jedi worthy of the title of Jedi watchman and are assigned to a planet which will be your responsibility. If tying yourself to a planet does not appeal to you then you can instead increase your NPC support team to 40 NPCs (?? if Jedi Master).

Jedi Master+ exclusive:
  • Six completed missions: You can claim a group of Jedi NPCs to have arrived on your planet to help you with your duties as Watchman. Or, you can claim a squadron of ?? Jedi as part of your squad.
  • Ten completed missions: Advanced Tech.
  • Sixteen completed missions: You are now the Watchman of an entire sector. You can now call upon any Jedi assets active in your sector. Add army equivalent.

This is still a work in progress, something I'm trying to put together to help the Jedi Faction. Feedback and criticism is welcome and encouraged!
