"One!.. Two!.. Three!.. Deflect!.. Riposte!.. Retreat!.. One!.. Two!.. Three!..." The Zeltron extinguished her azure blade, put the hilt on the belt and clasped the hands behind her back: "Carry on without the comands, 30 minutes. Yes Wilfur, exactly 30 minutes. No Jaesa, my absence is no excuse for slacking. I might not be looking at you, but I can sense what you're up to. Keep at it! You have a remote session ahead of you. If you don't want to get a sting, this is your best bet!"

Kori—no, Knight Nykoria Tallis—stepped away from the court. A couple dozen younglings, initiates, and even Padawans sharpened their lightsaber skills, and it was Nykoria who instructed them that time. About 6 months ago, she wouldn't have believed that. She was just a freshly-Knighted hermit who shied away from most of the usual Knightly duties in her refuge outside the temple. But a few missions and close calls, as well as getting an unexpected Padawan hadn't gone without effect on the Zeltron.

Sure, Nykoria still wasn't the most often sight at the temple. But she discovered something that she didn't think she had: a taste for teaching. And since lightsaber combat was probably her strongest suit, that's what she volunteered to instruct. However, the Zeltron realized that her skills in other areas could use some practice. That's why she walked away from the court, assumed a meditation pose on the stone nearby and closed her eyes. The intention was to reach out with the Force and sense every single person on the training ground. Who knows, perhaps she'd run across some familiar faces or make new acquaintances. In the worst case, she'd get some practice in an area she often neglected.

She definitely sensed a few Knights and Padawans passing by, or practicing the other aspects of being a Jedi (such as the Force, lightsaber construction, you name it) nearby. Some of them were even familiar at this point, but Kori couldn't quite put it yet.

Izel was making her way to the library, as usual, when she heard a familiar voice coming from the training court. She was surprised to find Kori presiding over a gathering of younglings and initiates, guiding them through the fundamentals of lightsaber combat. Outside of missions she never saw the Zeltron.

The last she had heard of the Jedi Knight she was somewhat panicked about the Council giving her a Padawan, but already she seemed to have transformed into a full blown teacher. Izel herself hadn't met with the Zeltron since their last mission together, and quite a lot had happened in that short time. It seemed they were now peers in the eyes of the Order, as she had finally attained the rank of Jedi Knight herself.

Watching the Zeltron take a break from her students to begin meditations Izel couldn't help but wander over. Normally she would try to avoid disturbing someone's meditation, but she was much too excited to think about that right now. She was eager to share the good news with her friend.

"You're faring remarkably well considering the state you were in the last time I saw you." She said lightheartedly as she approached the Zeltron. "You'll be a Master in no time at this rate." She looked in the direction of the younglings dutifully going through their evolutions. Well, most of them were. Some were clearly slacking off with their mentor out of sight and chatting idly with each other. "Well... Maybe not no time at all..." Izel amended.

It was another warm day on Ajan Kloss. Though, to be fair, the majority of days were warm on the jungle-planet. However, on this particular afternoon, the heat and humidity combined to put Jedi Knight Brienna Lanaamer in a somewhat sour mood. She liked practically everything about Ajan Kloss. The friendly nature of Jedi colleagues, the diverse, life filled forests, the history of the temple and its library. The heat was the lone outlier on the list of positives. Obviously, Ajan Kloss was not as warm as desert worlds like Tatooine or Jakku. Bri simply had a low bodily tolerance for the warmer climate. An extended discussion (read: argument) between the Jedi and her astromech companion in the open landing fields near the temple had left Bri unpleasantly feeling of slight exasperation and perspiration. She could feel the small beads of moisture on her brow, and sought the shade of the large stone temple to cool off, both figuratively and literally.

Bri took the shortest possible route from the landing fields to the temple, the jungle foliage crinkling and snapping under her quick stride. Arriving near a set of training areas, the stone temple provided welcoming, cool relief, as Bri stepped into its shade. Almost immediately, she felt both her mood and temperature begin to normalize. Before heading on to her quarters in the temple, a nearby training session caught her attention. A diverse mix of younglings, padawans, and initiates stood in pleasing symmetry, running through the basics of lightsaber stances, forms, and moves. Never one to hold back a judging glance, Bri crossed her arms over her chest and evaluated that some were progressing much better than others. To be fair, her own lightsaber skills lagged when she was a Padawan learner; the tense memories of long, hot afternoons spent in the sparring zones returning to her thoughts.

Their teacher appeared to be a Zeltron woman who Bri was sure she had seen before in the Temple, but never had been formally introduced. Moving her glance from the students, the Knight noticed a Jedi she did recognize, a Vratix, specifically Izel Thral, approach the teacher, and offer some kind of friendly introduction. The two were too far away for the to Knight hear. Bri didn't want to add to any interruptions of the lesson, but also wanted to ensure her presence was not interpreted to be like some kind of judgmental stick-in-the-mud. She sought the middle ground, offering a friendly wave and a half smile to the other two Jedi, once they had looked in her direction.

Shujaa's breathing was labored. Sweat formed on his brow and his hair hung loosely from his head. In his hands he held Haki, and before him were two remote training droids. He held his eyes shut tight, even though they were covered by a thick piece of cloth. He reached out with the force and felt the two droids as they flitted around him, rotating and taking aim. One, two, three, four quick blasts were let out. The young Jedi moved instinctively and ignited his saber, rotating his wrist to place the blade between he and each shot.

Reaching out his hand, he deactivate the droids and removed his blindfold. "I really borked that." he said to himself as he looked towards a nearby tree. Upon closer inspection he confirmed that none of the redirected blasts had hit the small target he had painted on the tree trunk. He slowly rubbed his temple in frustration and returned to the droids, picking them up and attaching them to his belt. I may as well call it a day and return these to the Temple. He thought to himself as he turned to head back and tied his hair back out of his face.

The forest he was in was beautiful to his eye. Lush and alive, it was his favorite spot to be. He had grown accustomed to taking his training away from the traditional training grounds of the temple after attaining knighthood. He much preferred to be in nature and use the natural environment. This did have it's downsides, however, as he seldom came into contact with others who were training as well. In fact, when he thought about it, he couldn't be sure that he made any true connections with others of his rank. Or checked in on the potential of the padawans and initiates.

Deciding to rectify this, he planned to sit in on the training that was underway currently. Maybe even step in to help. Or even better, find a sparring partner. The droids were nice, but having a opponent that could think and use tactics gave a much better experience. So with his mind made up, he made the short walk from the clearing in the forest towards the temple. After returning the droids to their rightful place, he turned to look out onto the main training facility. He noticed two Jedi, one meditating and the other slowly approaching.

I may as well start there. He thought as he headed towards them. A small movement out the corner of his eye grabbed his attention. When he looked up he saw someone else standing there and waving. He waved back before realizing that the woman wasn't waving at him but rather towards the other Jedi that he was currently making his way to.

Smooth. Real smooth.

There were too many people training and just walking around for Nykoria to keep track of all of them. Especially when she caught a familiar presence in the Force. Not a humanoid, and too emotional at that. Almost radiating the good mood around her. Izel. The Zeltron came to that conclusion a few moments before she heard the insectoid's characteristic voice.

Still sitting on the stone, the Zeltron opened her brown eyes and offered a warm smile in return for a compliment: "Thank you." Happy to see her colleague—with who they had been through the derelict ruins of Ontotho and the lush forests of Trandosha by then—Nykoria lost her focus on the trainees for a moment. "I didn't really think I had it in me," she admitted her earlier doubts somewhat sincerely. Not something that she'd do casually.

But then, Izel drew attention to some of the Padawans neglecting their studies. IN FRONT OF OTHER KNIGHTS! That remark made Kori jump up from the stone and cast a fiery gaze at her trainees. Izel's own enthusiasm has softened up Kori's anger and frustration. So instead of her "drill sergeant" tone, she went with "laid back teacher being very upset": "Jaesaaaa! Stop distracting Tommen! If you think you're prepared to take on two remotes already, I can arrange that!"

Casting a quick glance around the area, Nykoria attempted to find out if any other Jedi had seen her failure. There were at least a couple of people who could be Knights, judging by how attuned to the Force they apparently were. One of those people, a Human blonde, offered a half-smile and a wave. Was she smiling because she saw the incident? Regardless, Kori responded to the stranger with a nod and an absent-minded smile of her own. Then she also noticed another Knight approaching from the opposite direction. No doubt to comment on her slacking trainees.

Closing her eyes briefly and exhaling through her nose, the Zeltron turned to Izel. "Sorry about that. Force knows these younglings could use some discipline. Now, where were we at? How have you been?"

Izel was taken aback somewhat by the sincere admission of self-doubt Kori offered her. She herself had felt many of the same insecurities, but had difficulty articulating them to others, even those she respected. It was nice to know she had the Zeltron's trust though. Thankfully the lighthearted mood returned quickly as Kori loudly chastised the two slacking younglings. Izel had to suppress an amused chitter as the two students jumped from the sudden outburst and quickly scrambled to get back into form. The distraction seemed to have spread like a virus though, as the other younglings and Padawans broke from their own practice to laugh at their fellows being called out.

"Can't leave them alone for two minutes can you?" She asked the Zeltron amusedly. Noticing Brienna watching the ordeal from a little ways off the Vratix perked up a bit. She hadn't seen the Jedi Knight since that whole fiasco on Dxun, and enthusiastically waved back and gestured for her to join them. After all, she believed she owed the human some personal thanks. Master Reev had told her that the woman's commendations for her actions during the pirate attack had helped the Council's decision to grant her her knighthood.

But at Kori's question she turned her attention back to the Zeltron. "Wonderful, actually." The Vratix explained, her excitement barely contained as she spoke. Reaching into a pocket she pulled out a string of silka beads, one end seared by a lightsaber, and presented them proudly to the knight. The beads that had previously served as her approximation of a Padawan's braid. "It would seem I no longer have to call you Master." She stated with just perhaps a bit too much smugness. She couldn't help herself though. The newly christened Knight was practically glowing with joy at her knew status.

Bri chuckled aloud and scoffed a little as her intended wave to Izel and the Jedi teacher was intercepted by another Jedi, one whom she had not seen in the temple before. No matter, it seemed an introduction was likely to be imminent, as it appeared he was also headed towards the others. Following a few of the students acting up, their Zeltron teacher quickly offered a reprimanding command, which in turn caused a few more students to laugh and giggle with each other. Bri smiled as she observed the scene. The expression 'like herding loth-cats,' sprang into her mind.

Despite a few of the more obvious bumps in the session, the Jedi Knight had great respect for anyone who could train other Jedi. Padawans, younglings, and initiates, especially. Every being's connection to the Force was different, and trying to explain how to utilize that through the extension of a saber must be no easy task. Bri had engaged in many conversations with the Council about her potential to take a Padawan learner, but every time she had found some sort of excuse to either change the subject, or leave to avoid it.

Trying to brush the rather heavy subject of her own shortcomings out from her mind, Bri turned her attention back to Izel, who she noticed was gesturing for her to join in their conversation. The Knight nodded in response, and proceeded to navigate the outer perimeter of the training students, trying to ensure her presence disrupted the lesson as little as possible. Bri greeted the other two Jedi with a smile and friendly toned, "Afternoon"

It appeared she had arrived in the middle of Izel's discussion of her current rank in the Jedi, proudly showing the Zeltron a set of silka beads, which Bri had seen the Vratix wearing only a short time ago on Dxun. Inserting herself into the conversation at an appropriate time, Bri looked up at Izel and commented, "looks like congratulations are in order," with a somewhat wry smile. One of the first things the Knight had done after the mess on Dxun was reach out to the Vratix's Master and offer her own commendations for Izel's stellar performance in the face of extreme hostility and danger. The Jedi Order was better off having Izel Thral as one of its members, and Bri was glad to see that her efforts had been recognized, graduating to the rank of Jedi Knight.

The Kiffar felt a slight pang of embarrassment as he slowly approached the others. He looked up and noticed the Jedi he had mistakenly waved to had already made her way to the others. From the looks of it, the insectoid seemed to be the link between the others, as she had sparked a conversation with the teacher without much apprehension and the golden haired woman had addressed her with a sense of familiarity. Just great. The odd man out. Well, Shujaa, that's what happens when you isolate yourself for a year. He thought to himself as he continued his approach. He wanted to do so much good for the galaxy, but his aversion to people was his biggest obstacle. As talented as you are, you can't do it alone. He reminded himself.

His master had tried to teach him that there was strength in numbers and even though the two of them had helped many people in many systems, sometimes forming bonds, he never continued to build these relationships after his master's passing. As an orphan he had always subconsciously avoided attachment to others. With years of training on Ajan Kloss, he had thought he had outgrown this. After his master's death, however, he once again felt alone and since he had already reached knighthood by that time, he was free to leave and work on his own and that's what he did. Only returning to Ajan Kloss sporadically, he felt like a stranger in the closest thing to home he had ever known.

Shujaa snapped back to reality once he heard the voice of the Jedi ring out at the trainees. He chuckled softly to himself, remembering how much of a handful he had been at that age. Returning his attention to the others, he swallowed hard to prepare himself for introductions.

"Good afternoon. Seems like you have your hands full." He said to the teacher. "Allow my to introduce myself, I'm Shujaa Yako. Knight of the Order." He finished with a small bow. Suddenly the the force gave him a bit of feedback. "I sense that you are somewhat unsure of your work here. Don't worry, I'm not one to judge and from the little I've seen, you're doing a fine job." He turned to the others and bowed to them as well, a slight bit of shame returning as he looked at the woman again, before also offering a congratulations as he noticed the padawan "braid" that the insectoid held.

He checked his comlink for messages. Nothing. It had been weeks since he had heard from Thalia. It wasn't like she went missing. She just wasn't calling back anymore. The padawan could take a hint so he pocketed the device and kept walking off the ship.

The soles of Byron's work boots clanked a little as he walked down the loading ramp of the YT-1300 he had been using with a bit more frequency now. Others sometimes needed to use it but the man was an engineer and after today he was sure it wouldn't need any attention for a few weeks at least. Two other pit droids squeeked and poked one another. "Hey, told you two to not bend one another's attenae didn't I?" They looked at one another and he gave them each a boop on the nose causing them to collapse into their stowage forms. Shaking his head he picked them up and brought them to where they could be charged and serviced.

Behind him his trusty companion BG-L0 rolled and gave two burst of her spark emitter. The padawan looked over his shoulder and gave the droid a little smile and kept heading towards the temple. "Yeah I'm sure I could use a bath." He was done with working on ships for the day. Maybe he would be able to get some sparing in with a Knight. Knight Sati or Master Grayza would be good but he hadn't seen them around the temple recently. There wasn't much point to take a shower if he was going to work up a sweat again anyways. At least he would have a look around while taking the pit droids and Big Low to get an oil bath.

As he rounded a corner he saw a group of individuals, a few of which he recognized. Maybe one of them would know. "Afternoon, Knight Tallis, Izel." He greeted the both of them first since he recognized them then looked towards Brienna and Shujaa in turn. "I'm Padawan Ryker." Adjusting his grip he shifted both pit droids under one muscular arm and quickly wiped his free hand on the side of his overalls before holding it out to shake hands. The astromech beside him gave a little sassy whirl to remind Byron. "And this os Bee-Gee- Ell-" The droid held up a manipulator as if to give him the hand. +Brrvrt kzt wynnn+ Byron looked down at the spherical droid. "Yes...Big Low. Her friends call her Big Low." The correction was followed by the droid doing a small spin on its access like it was bowing.

The news of the Vratix's Knighting and Izel's cheerful attitude reflected on Nykoria as well. She was a good choice for a Knight. Sure, the insectoid Jedi could act on impulse sometimes, but don't we all do that? Other than that, Nykoria only had the best to say about her colleague. A wide grin covered the Zeltron's purple lips, as she looked at Izel's face and head from different angles: "Glad they didn't accidentally cut off anything that matters along with the braid." Of course, the Vratix had no braids, but Kori hoped that the joke about Izel's antennae would hit right home.

The initiates and Padawans though... "At this rate, there'll be an extra remote for everyone!" the Zeltron jokingly threatened her unruly trainees with an ill-promising smirk: "Come on! Deflect, riposte, retreat!" Hopefully, that would be enough to solve that little unpleasant incident. Meanwhile, a few other Jedi approached.

"Nice to meet you all," she addressed the approaching Jedi. Since a few of them weren't familiar, the Zeltron introduced herself: "I'm Nykoria Tallis." To Padawan Ryker, whom she had already met before, the Zeltron offered a nod and a smile. "Got it, Big Low," the Knight tilted her head and nodded to the droid as well. Kori didn't understand Droidspeak, so the comment from Byron helped.

Shujaa's remark about Nykoria's fine work made the Jedi smile even wider. "Thank you. Just trying to do my best." To herself, she would add "Hopefully, it will be enough." However, on the outside and through the Force, she'd do her best not to show it. Perhaps a change of topic was in order? "Hey, if it isn't too much to ask, would anyone be up for some swordsmanship demonstration? Perhaps seeing a sparring would keep them motivated." The Zeltron waved towards the unruly trainees, who were starting to slack again, curious to see so many Knights in one place.

I figured we let a couple of Jedi spar, while the others observe:
- The sparring Jedi post at their own pace and don't have to wait for the others.
- The others are welcome to slip posts in at their own pace.
- The posting orders becomes more lax that way, and keeps the thread going.

I'm fine with being an observer, but can spar as well. Any takers are welcome to step up in subsequent posts.

Izel began to feel a bit guilty for interrupting Kori, because now it seemed everyone in the courtyard was stopping by to say hello. The trainees were losing focus and instead watching the gathering of their elders, beginning to gossip with each other in low voices.

"I have you to thank for that. Well, partially." The Vratix addressed Bri. "It's nice to see you again." She turned and bowed her head in greeting to Byron and the Kiffar she was unfamiliar with as well. "Izel Thral." She answered his introduction. "Knight of the Order." She finished, jovial mood still radiating out from her. She returned her Padawan braid to her bag and looked at the Zeltron with interest as she spoke of sparring.

"I'd be happy to." She said, scanning over the assembled Jedi. "My Form II could use some more practice. Any takers?" Normally the Vratix wouldn't have been so eager to engage in a sparring match, given her less than stellar skill with a lightsaber. But right now she was feeling like she could take on the whole galaxy. From past experience she already knew Bri seemed to favor Soresu in combat. Facing a practitioner of Jar'kai like Kori would be quite educational. Byron and Shujaa she had less information on. However they ended up pairing off though it seemed they had already succeeded in drawing the undivided attention of the Padawans and Younglings. A duel with an audience, this would be new...

Bri stepped back slightly, allowing the newcomers a reasonable amount of space in their growing circle. Finding another suitable opportunity, Bri took the initiative to introduce herself to the three other Jedi (and one companion astromech droid) whom she had not yet had the pleasure of meeting. "I'm Brienna Lanaamer, also a Knight," she started, before pausing and adding, "but, just Bri is fine," indicating her nickname and preference for informality. "It's nice to meet you all."

She laughed softly at the Jedi Teacher, Nykoria, and her joke about the Masters accidentally cutting off one of the Vratix's antennae during the promotion ceremony. The comical scene at Izel's expense played out in her mind, with the Vratix seemingly unperturbed by the joke. Turning her attention, it didn't take Bri's use of the force to feel the positive energy radiating from Izel. The Vratix was visibly elated in sharing her new rank, and it delighted Bri to see how proud the former Padawan was about the promotion.

Unfortunately, the side effect of the group of Jedi meeting was to serve as a further distraction of the learning students, who had now proceeded in their disobedience of Nykoria. A quick glance from Bri saw lackadaisical stances, side conversations, and one student who appeared to be trying to swat a bug with his saber. Bri turned her attention back to the teacher, as she suggested that a few of the Knights spar for the students, hopefully providing some educational benefit. Despite her previous ill-tempered response to getting too warm in the landing fields, Bri knew it was the least she could do to help out, after her own presence had served as a disruption to the lesson. Might as well commit, she thought to herself with a small smile, preparing for some exercise under the warm sun.

Bri looked over as Izel volunteered her services first. "Me too," Bri added in response. "I feel a bit bad for interrupting your lesson," she turned to Nykoria, offering a slightly remorseful looking smile, "so its the least I can do."

Sure was busy in the training yard today. Between the actual classes and the random assortment of others, it was practically a crowd by the standards of the Jedi. By chance, Hannibal happened to be visiting the temple for his semi-regular check in he'd be taking part in this days. The council did seem to insist on hearing from him in person more often since his promotion to Master. He considering it something of a pain, but he hadn't outright refused yet. They kept him on a fairly long leash as always.

As he'd taken to doing these days, he was dressed in brightly coloured robes and pants, his usual gloves covering most of his hands and allowing the colourful and detailed tattoos across his arms to be entirely visible, including several coloured in scars from past events.

Hannibal's latest visit had mostly involved simple reports, so he'd decided to check how the general training was going. It looked like it'd been picked up a tad recently, which he certainly approved of. Of course, there were always a couple who didn't take it entirely seriously.
It didn't help people kept showing up in the general area. At this point, he figured he might as well just join the party.

"Yo!" he said in greeting as he approached, waving casually with his left hand. He saw two familiar faces, namely Izel and Byron. He'd worked with the former in the middle of a warzone, while the latter had been an on-off student of his for some time. The rest were a mystery, though he assumed the zeltron yelling rote instructions at the rather distracted students was the teacher in this scenario.

"Y'know, the if they've got the energy for talkin' you could always add singing to the exercise. Works wonders for the mouthy ones." he stated rather louder than was necessary for casual conversation, no doubt easily heard by the talkative students. He wasn't exactly kidding, either. Few had trained under him for any length of time, but they could probably attest to his unusual methods of practice.

"Byron, Izel, good to see you again. Congratulations on the knighting." He directed the latter towards Izel, having heard about it through meeting with the council. His eyes briefly flicked over the others he didn't know, cheeky grin still plastered firmly on his face, and finally introduced himself.

"Master Hannibal Grayza. Please don't let my presence put any pressure on your sparring session." he joked, winking specifically towards Brienna with a mischievous glint in his eyes. They'd briefly met before on Kafrene, though he'd been dressed quite differently and he'd gone by a different name. Didn't change his face or tattoos any, though.

Mnoc was running out of his little hut that he built when he arrived on Ajan Kloss along with his parents nearly 8 years ago, so he had someplace to sleep outside of the temple because people complained about how he stunk but his stink was part of his identity.
"*T-3PO I told you, to wake me up before they had the training session because we were meant to help Master Tallis, I had all of the extra training droid prepped as well for the other students she was help*" Mnoc said in anger in Jawanese towards T-3PO, who was barely able to keep up with his speed "*Young Master Mnoc, I'm sorry but you messed with my battery before we went to sleep because you wanted to be able to expand the time between the charging, I short-circuited after you went to sleep, I only reactivated thirty minutes after the training had started*" T-3PO said in Jawanese to Mnoc.

Mnoc was nearly at the clearing where the training was meant to take place and saw that it looked like it had long started but the other Padawans and Younglings were completely distracted with all the full blown Jedis there, "*Oh great now, I'm going to embarrass Master Tallis because I'm late her own Padawan, this all your fault T-3PO*" Mnoc angrily before he tried to calm himself down before approaching his Master with his head held low, as T-3PO said slowly following him "Sorry, Ikee late Master Tallis Ikee told T-3PO to wake Ikee okka for training an hour before it started but he had short-circuit before he could. Ikee had to use Ikee's opakwa to fix him and I had all these training made from my dooka to help with training today" Mnoc said very guiltily holding all the training he could carry, a maximum of 5 more droid for the students.

So far, Brienna and Izel expressed interest in a sparring to inspire the trainees. With a loud clap of her purple hands, raised for everyone to see, the Zeltron announced: "Alright, everyone, you've got yourselves a break. Knights Thral and Lanaamer have agreed to a little demonstration." The announcement was met with a cheering group and rounds of applause from the young audience. Kori turned to the volunteers: "You may commence when ready."

While the sparring area was being prepared, another Jedi approached. And offered a rather unorthodox suggestion to handle the loud-mouthed Padawans. It made the Zeltron raise an eyebrow, the lef corner of her lip going up in a smirk: "I'll... Have to give it a thought. I'm Knight Nykoria Tallis, by the way... Ermmm, Kori for friends." It always felt strange introducing herself to people who weren't her equals. Though the Zeltron had a feeling that that particular master was on first-name basis with everyone he met.

For a few moments, things were going on splendidly. But then... Nykoria saw her Jawa Padawan approach, with his protocol droid in tow, and hands full with training remotes. He was supposed to arrive much earlier and participate in the training, but Nykoria had gotten over it. After all, at that moment she also had responsibility to the other initiates training under her. Luckily, they hadn't known that Kori's own Padawan was supposed to make the attendance. However, the kid lacked the subtlety to hide his late arrival. If Kori weren't in the crowd of other Jedi at the moment, she would facepalm. The worst part: a Jedi Master saw her Padawan's tardiness. That didn't reflect well on the teacher.

Of course, Kori's prior training helped her to contain those emotions. The Zeltron's facial expression turned into unreadable stone, and the voice could serve as an illustration of the "There is no emotion" line from the old interpretation of the Jedi Code: "Noted, Padawan. We'll discuss it later. Those training remotes your brought will help, but later. For now, take a seat and look what you've missed out on."

The Zeltron didn't ask T-3PO for translation; instead, she simply disregarded the parts of her Padawan's reply that she didn't comprehend. The Jawa spoke enough Basic to make filling in the gaps easy enough. Even though assumptions might not have been correct. Kori just hoped that the training session would distract everyone from her Padawan's late arrival.

Figured it was as good time as any for me to slip in a reply.

Izel bowed her head respectfully to Hannibal as he approached and offered his congratulations to the new Jedi Knight. "Thank you Master." She replied promptly. Well, it seemed there were still some people she had to address as master. The Vratix could sense Kori's mounting embarrassment at the situation. First all these Knights barging in on her lesson, then her own Padawan showing up late, not to mention a Jedi Master being witness to all of her students completely disregarding their orders. Even if Hannibal was more laidback than most, it still must have felt at least a bit humiliating.

In order to try and distract from this Izel waved to the gathered Padawans and Younglings as Kori introduced her before taking her spot in the sparring square. "I'm very grateful for the chance to give you a demonstration of advanced lightsaber combat." She addressed the students, ignoring the fact that her own skills could hardly be called expert. "I shall be using the Makashi form, also known as the Way of the Ysalamiri, or the Contention Form. It's focus is on control and precision, and is best employed against an opponent also armed with a lightsaber." She ignited her lightsaber pike and spun it in a flourish before squaring off against Bri, holding the pike up so the glowing emerald blade was level with her chest and extending it outward towards her competitor. "Remember that the key to this form is economy of motion. Finesse, over strength. Outmaneuver your opponent instead of trying to overpower them."

She looked to Bri expectantly and gave her a nod, waiting for the human to make her own introduction. She wasn't sure what to expect. On Dxun she had employed Soresu against the pirates that attacked them, but any Jedi would know that was the most logical form to respond to enemies armed with blasters. Bri might have specialized in an entirely different form usually. And there was no telling her level of expertise. She had been a Knight longer than Izel after all. The Vratix simply resolved to perform as best she could and keep to the principles of Makashi. Calm and controlled. She had been practicing the form with Fiach, and felt that she had improved greatly. Now was the time to put that theory to the test.

So far Byron's time had been consistently unorthodox. At least it had not been what the man had expected in his time among the Jedi but there were other Jedi who had similarly abnormal experiences. It was nice to still meet people and socialize. Often Knights and Padawans were separated by station and Byron had observed a lack of socializing between the two groups. All the Knights he had met seemed nice enough and now with apparently Izel added to their number Byron wondered how long it would be until he passed the trials.

The familiar voice of Hannibal came through the group. It was Hannibal that Byron had been keeping an eye out for. Speak of the exogorth He smiled back at the Master who had been one of the more active teachers in his time at the Order. When Nykoria asked for volunteers Byron didn't pipe up. If they were looking for training with lightsaber forms then he was not the best candidate, especially not form II. The padawan would watch from the sidelines like the others for the time being.

"Please don't let my presence put any pressure on your sparring session." Bri laughed with a sigh at Master Grayza's comment, and caught his wink towards her. They had previously met on Kafrene, albeit in much different circumstances. The Jedi turned back to Nykoria with a nod, and listened as the teacher offered a brief introduction and instructed the students to clear enough room on the field for her and Izel. Bri jogged over to the nearby low stone wall, and proceeded to take off her outer tunic, leaving her in a tank top. She folded and set it down in a neat manner. Burn marks were not easy to remove, and Bri was not going to risk another tunic getting sliced with saber strikes. Not again. Laundry often proved to be her most challenging nemesis on Ajan Kloss.

The Jedi walked back to the field, and listened as Izel explained her own style that she would be using. Bri had seen the Vratix in action with her lightsaber pike and had been impressed. Should make for a good challenge. Makashi was a style that Bri was familiar with, but not one that she had extensively practiced herself. It was a classic duelists form, designed for one on one combat. And, probably the best choice for their demonstration.

Bri tilted her head from side to side, stretching slightly, and nodded after Izel had finished. "Also key to any saber combat form is maintaining your connection with the Force. Let it flow through you and help to guide your movements." She repeated a familiar adage to the students, "feel, don't think." Continuing, "Oh, and Izel's pike here is a good example that sabers can come in many different varieties, and you'll have to adjust accordingly," gesturing to the Vratix's saber pike. She spoke from experience. As a student, Bri enjoyed learning the rules and solid foundation of being a Jedi, yet struggled at the more improvisational and free flowing aspects. Over time, she course corrected her weaknesses, yet still held her preferences. Bri took an elastic band off of her wrist, and tied up her loose golden colored hair into a pony tail. Following, she grabbed her saber with her left hand, and ignited it; the blue glow humming softly down at her side.

"I'll use a couple different styles, Soresu and Ataru. One focuses more on defense, while the other is much more aggressive. I'll let you all see if you can spot the differences." Bri finished with a smile. She firmly held her saber with both palms, pulling it up vertically and holding it near her favored left side in a classic Ataru stance. "Ready?" she grinned at Izel. Taking the initiative, she jumped forward in a mid-air somersault, landing to Izel's left, quickly launching an upwards right facing strike, prepared to follow with a quick level counter from the right to the left.

Izel immediately recognized the standard opening stance for Ataru, and hoped the gathered students would recognize it as well. In response she promptly adjuster her position, prepared to move quickly in answer to an aggressive assault. She was not mistaken. Bri launched onto the offensive at once, jumping gracefully through the air before making her opening attack, drawing awed remarks from their young audience.

For her part Izel retreated, dancing around the two quick swings from her opponent and trying to keep her at a distance. With her advantage in reach she didn't want to allow the human inside her guard. The movements of the opening exchange had left the two Knights switching positions, and Izel glanced briefly at the audience before unleashing a series of quick jabs at different places in Bri's guard. She would strike high, then low, then high again as she probed her opponent's defenses.

"As I said, outmaneuver your opponent instead of trying to overpower them," She explained for the students as she continued fighting. "Footwork is paramount to any Makashi practitioner. Be mindful of your surroundings, and position yourself where you hold the greatest advantage to control the flow of battle." She would display this by retreating whenever Bri attempted to get close, and trying to fight her from the absolute limit of her own range.

Bri grinned with the fact that Izel had easily parried both of her opening strikes. It was not a surprise. The Vratix had a notable height advantage over the human, and with her saber-pike, she was able to make use of extra reach to block Bri's strikes. Shifting back towards defense, as Izel probed, Bri brought her saber around to deflect strikes both high and low, before somersaulting on the ground to dodge one more high attack.

The Jedi stepped back somewhat as Izel sought to explain while the sparred, exchanging a few quick blows. Her explanations were right; Bri could jump and dash from side to side all she wanted, but as long as a Makashi practitioner held the right stance and balance, finding an open opportunity for success remained minimal. Adding in reply, "Knight Thral is right, if you've got the correct positioning and foresight, you'll find it easy to defend," Offering a few more testing quick slices, Bri continued, "but, if you're using the Ataru form, you'll need to think creatively to try and get your opponent off balance," with a grin.

Attempting to follow her own advice, Bri shifted her movements, striking high in her combinations were she previously went low, attacking from the right instead of her favored left side. The Jedi feinted forward, before jumping forward with a testing strike, quickly back-flipping on her open right hand to shift positions for three strikes from opposing angles.
