The skeletal fingers of the Grysk scratched the equally morbi looking chin without any thought as the ship traveled through space. Kai's head bobbed gently to the beat of his music and enjoyed the ride. In his hands was a datapad that occasionally made a soft beep or boop from time to time. The Legionnaire had been playing the game on the datapad for the past half hour with delight. Everyone else had been playing it for months now but thankfully the trip to Jabiim was not a quick hop.

Normally most of Kai's activities remained in Hutt space. Occasionally a word of a possible artifact or something was mentioned requiring him to check it out. In this case his personal scout ship was busy being worked on. Thus, he hitched a ride with a fellow dark sider that was sent to investigate the possible find. The two of them did not know one another very well. Actually Kai only knew her name and that she had a smaller ship than he did but he was not complaining.

Wearing a baggy black hoodie and grey pants, his posture sank into his seat for the time being. Occasionally after a loss or getting a level up he would take a swig from his flask before stuffing it back into his pocket. Kai had not asked if it was alright for him to smoke on Ana's ship and chances were he would only ask after his booze ran out and he had to start smoking the laced cigaras he had. Or should I use one of those tabs? Nah. Clearing his throat he would ultimately keep his eyes glued to the small screen. "So you ever been to Jabiim? It's all rainy and stuff right?" Only after he asked the question did he glance over at Ana to see what the Guardian said.

Ana wasn’t quite sure what to think of her spooky passenger. He seemed… quiet, but that wasn’t necessarily a bad thing. He kept to himself for the most part and she kept to herself, not certain how to strike up a conversation with him. Er, was it a him? That was also something she wasn’t entirely certain of, but with the name “Malakai,” she could only assume it was male. There was so much of the galaxy she hadn’t yet seen or experienced, and she knew better than to assume things now.

Still, it was pleasant enough of a trip. His ship was in the shop, so the two decided to travel on the Muse to Jabiim. She was still a fairly inexperienced pilot, so Beegee did most of the work while they were in hyperspace. The undulating blue miasma swirled around them, so she occupied herself with taking small naps or reading up on the world they were traveling to on her datapad. Every now and then she’d tap against the screen, either moving to a new page or highlighting pertinent facts. On occasion, she also shot Malakai a glance, watching him play some game for… pretty much the whole time they were together, leaving the cockpit in an awkward silence of datapad tapping, game music, and the occasional droid beep.

After some time, he spoke up, and she opened her eyes with a start. Damn it, she had just begun to doze off. Her venom-green eyes panned over to the man staring into his game screen, pondering his question. ”Er, well… no, I’ve never been to… a lot of places, actually,” she admitted, pulling one side of her lip inward in a “sorry!” expression. She raised the datapad and tapped it a few times, bringing up the page on Jabiim.

”’Jabiim was a world deluged by torrential rains, experiencing fewer than five days per standard year without precipitation,’” she recited, reading off the page, ”Blah blah blah… hm, oh… ‘The world had a very unstable electric field, and electric storms were quite common. ‘This could affect the performance of aircraft and repulsorcraft.’ Exciting…” She set the datapad down and looked at Malakai sheepishly. The last thing they needed was an electrical storm to really test her piloting ability.

She sat quietly for a bit before looking back over at him, probably still engrossed in his game, and cleared her throat to get his attention. ”So… What brings you out on a relic hunt?” she asked, curious about her partner. The trip might take some time, so they might as well get to know one another.

The Grysk listened to the woman with her occasionally glancing towards her as she essentially recited the briefing information. "Great, now I don't have to read the info." He said deadpan though he had given it a look over, somewhat. "wait...affect performance?..." He resisted the urge to make a 'that's what she said' joke. In truth he did not like the idea of flying through an electrical storm. "Why are you looking at me like that." He sounded alarmed as he saw her sheepish expression. It was a rhetorical question. He already knew she was not entirly confident in her piloting skill. If this were a cartoon a sweat drop would have appeared on the side of his head.

"Oh um. Finder's keepers is always the rule of thumb." His voice had every sense of sincerity to the unrefined answer. "Well...unless someone takes it from you." A foreshadowing 'dun-dun-duuuun' played from his gaming device as some dramatic scene played out. "Seriously though its cuz relics can contain immense power and knowledge and I want to get my grubby little hands on it the same as everyone else. Though I suppose I can ask you the same thing so I'm not rude." He waited a moment as the game went quiet. Probably should wait to ask her if I can smoke. Might have sounded a bit rude.

Ana rolled her eyes at Kai’s remarks as she recited the info, continuing without pausing. After she had finished and posed her question to him, her eyes watched him with interest, awaiting a reply. He seemed sincere, if a bit simple, though the concept of “finder’s keepers” was a bit amateur. Those who desired something enough would simply take it, and those who couldn’t hold onto it had no right to have it in the first place. His follow-on explanation made more sense, if, again, a bit simple. Most of these worlds’ relics had been picked clean long ago, but it never hurt to try and find something of value. The feeling of discovery amazed her every time.

”Our reasons are similar,” she admitted, turning to look at the swirling miasma of hyperspace for a moment, ”There’s much to be found out there,” she said, gesturing ambiguously towards space, ”And we’ve barely touched the surface. I seek the relics of the Sith so that we might gain a fraction of what it was they knew.” She reclined in her chair, shrugging listlessly, ”That, and exploring new worlds is a treat.” She couldn’t deny her excitement to visit a new world, unbound by any master or family that forbade her from traveling. There was so much to experience, and, since she had not yet been plagued wholly with the red-streaked black of the Dark Side, a sense of childlike wonder still occupied her mind.

Beegee beeped a few times, indicating they were near Jabiim. Ana nodded and sat back up, taking hold of the controls as the ship slammed out of hyperspace. The stars slowly unstretched and turned back into their twinkling blips in the distance, while the inky blackness of space filled most of the viewport. Jabiim was dead ahead, a massive, mud-caked, green marble spinning slowly in orbit. Ana looked on in awe, as usual, at the sight of another world yet unexplored. She wondered what secrets its surface might hold.

Beegee beeped again and she shook her head, snapping herself from her stupor and beginning the descent towards the planet. They had a set of coordinates to go to, but she still relied on Beegee to help navigate. She hoped Malakai wouldn't have any ill thoughts towards her general inexperience towards flying.

While she flew, she looked over at Kai, then back at the planet. Already, she could tell there was a massive thunderstorm they were flying into, and the roiling clouds did not bode well. ”Erh, hold on…” she said as the small star courier broke atmosphere and entered the perpetual monsoon, the ship already experiencing heavy turbulence and torrential downpour. Luckily, it was extremely quick and agile, or else it would've been a much less enjoyable time flying.

Please don’t crash, she thought as she guided the ship down.

Kai heard Ana's own specified reasoning for being present. It seemed pretty standard. The Legionnaire ended up joining her in staring out at the planet when it came into view. There were plenty of people that went their whole lives without seeing a planet from orbit. Probably should not take it for granted.

As the ship got closer to Jabiim he glanced towards the Guardian to see if she was still acting the same as before. The rocking of the ship came as they went through the atmosphere. The Grysk tightened his seat belt harness just in the event that they did crash. "Whoo, here we go." He said in monotone excitment. The prospect of a brutal clash landing and death on impact caused him to chuckle. But he kept that to himself.

As long as the ship did not crash he had the confidence that they would remain alive. Then again, Grysk tended to dare the galaxy to throw its worst at him. Either he died and was removed from the big bad galaxy or he got stronger, survived and hopefully didn't have too bad of a trip along the way.

Live, my darling. Malakai jostled in his harness and let out a grunt from some turbulence. "No promises" He was speaking to the specter that stood behind his seat and not the woman piloting the ship. He knew she was there, but as soon as he turned around to look the cockpit would only contain the two dark siders and the droid. "Hmph"

Ana maintained control of the ship reasonably well, though Beegee’s assistance was certainly appreciated. She kept the ship on its quick descent downward, trying to resist the powerful gale-force winds buffeting it. Once or twice, lightning cracked by, and she thought for a moment that they were going to go down hard, but the ship remained stable. Malakai was jostled around, but kept buckled in. He muttered something to her, but the sound of the heavy rain slamming against the transparisteel windshield drowned out the words. ”What was that?” she replied, eyes focused ahead.

After some turbulent flying, they breached the cloud layer, and now it was a short matter of finding a suitable landing spot. This entire planet might as well have been a mud pit with how much rain it experienced, so finding somewhere that her ship wouldn’t sink in would be a bit of a doozy. Ana chuckled grimly to herself, shaking her head. A few minutes ago, it was smooth sailing in hyperspace, now she was fighting the elements just to find a spot to set down at. She looked at the ship’s navigation, realizing they had a destination to reach, but noticed the only “safe” place to land was a small rocky plateau some distance away from where they were headed.

She set the ship down there, not even realizing she’d been pretty much holding her breath the entire flight down. As the ship settled onto the stone, she exhaled slowly, glad to be done with the turbulent ordeal. ”Phew,” she sighed, looking at Malakai as she unbuckled her harness, ”That was the worst storm I’ve ever flown in.” She rose from her seat and went to gather her things, namely the waterproof hooded poncho. ”The storm outside’s bad,” she called out from her little room, ”And we’ve a bit of a walk ahead of us.”

When she had prepared herself, she stood at the landing ramp that had now been lowered, watching the pouring rain roll down it and pool at the base. A sigh escaped her lips and she already began to feel a little cold. This was sure going to be fun.

Kai only stared out of the viewport due to habit. The interior lighting of the ship was brighter than the storming sky outside. Rivulets of rain ran across the windows, making a constant field of small sparkling lights that were constantly moving. But the ship moved with purpose and Kai eventually managed to see where Ana was planning on landing.

Coming to a stop was jarring but it could have been worse. Kai remained seated and strapped in for a few seconds after the ship seemed to begin cooling down. "Oh hey, we're alive." He jested with the same morbid indifference like he had expected obliteration. It was followed with the reluctant snap of his harness release. It was rainier outside than he could have imagined. In the lower levels of Nar Shaddaa most rainfall was really just the overflow of what happened at the upper levels. Natural rain storms on this scale were still new to him.

Kai stared out the cockpit viewport for a bit as Ana went to get ready. Her comments about the weather were not lost on the Legionnaire. When he saw Ana had a poncho he looked to see if there was a spare. * But it looked like there was just a loose plain jacket that had seen better days. It was not the man's style either but he knew that later on he was going to regret being drenched. Waiting at the bottom of the ramp, just before they went into the rain he took another swig of his beverage. It was more to give himself that temporary warming sensation that came with imbibing the alcohol.

The dark sider's eyes looked at the downpour realizing that the chances of him being able to smoke were going to be slim. "You don't have a speeder or anything?" His tone was optimistically questioning. His hand put the flask back before replacing it with the Personav to have some guidance towards the mining site.

Ana looked at Kai, then back at her empty cargo hold, then back at Kai. Her cheeks grew red from embarrassment and she smiled sheepishly. ”It’s, erh, in the shop,” she replied, wishing she had the foresight to go buy a speeder before coming off to the galaxy’s wettest world. Her eyes flicked towards the intense rainfall outside, then back at Kai, who was wearing one of the plain jackets left on the ship. She felt a bit bad about having a waterproof poncho but shoved the feeling down as she wondered if the skeletal man really even cared about being drenched.

Before he could reply, a massive lightning bolt struck the forest far in the distance, the following thunder drowning out the noise of the rain for a moment. They needed to get moving before this storm got worse… if that was possible. She stepped out and immediately regretted it as the fat, heavy drops of rain smacked into her poncho. Her face was already getting splashed with water as the drops impacted and she turned to look at Kai to see how much worse he was faring.

The mining site was a bit of a walk, and they needed to get moving before nightfall. Ana waved Kai onward and set off in the direction they needed to head, already eager to find shelter somewhere. Luckily, the leaves in the forest might provide them with a little protection from the rain, though the intensity of the storm would likely nullify any foliage cover they might have. It was a longshot, but it was better than sitting on this exposed rock.

As they walked, Ana looked at Kai before turning back to the forest. ”How far away are we?” she shouted over the din of the storm. Her poncho was protecting her from getting wet, mostly, but the chill that accompanied it assaulted her diminutive frame. She shivered and tried to pick up the pace to keep the blood flowing, rubbing her hands together to warm up her fingers.

It's in the shop... He was remissed at lacking a vehicle but the way Ana replied eventually caused him to chuckle. It turned into a sigh as she stepped out into the rain. Even if it was humorous they still had to deal with the inclement weather regardless.

The Guardian went a few meters out ahead of him. Dropping his hoverboard in front of him it quickly was covered in droplets but at least it had a textured surface so his sneaker wearing feet would be less likely to slip. Stepping out onto the small recreational repulsor device he hovered out into the rain. At least I don't have to walk. I suppose that's a silverlining He thought as his jacket and subsequently any other clothing got soaked in the following moments.

It was not long before the casual Grysk stuffed his hands in his pockets and overtook Ana. Hearing her shout towards him he turned enough to be able to understand the question. Slowing his roll, Kai pulled out his personav. Like everything else, water droplets barraged the item though it allowed him to give an answer. "Uh....not far...I think about fifteen minutes on foot." He turned his head to look towards the direction where the mining camp was. But in the deluge it was difficult to make out except for faint industrial lighting.

The discomfort of the rain was enough to make Kai wonder if they should have tried landing closer. Then again they had a difficult enough time landing in general. Asking for a closer parking space was probably taking for granted that they had landed close enough as it was.

"I don't know if I'd say I miss Tatooine....but I won't miss all this rain when we leave!" He added as a general comment. He did not know Ana very well but part of him was curious about her.
