Kalen rounded the corner, using it for cover as he turned and sent several shots back towards his attacker. He was a lousy shot, and his Master hadn't let him bring his lightsaber on this mission. The words rang in his head as he ducked behind cover just in time to miss the bolt that wouldn't have taken his head off. "The lightsaber doesn't make the Jedi." the words replayed over and over.

He was outnumbered and outgunned. Kalen needed to buy himself some breathing room. The thought made him laugh, a minute ago he was doing his best not to breathe the foul sewer air. He had been told it was the only way to reach the gangster's lair and rescue the person that had been captured by her several days ago.

Pushing off of the wall, he tore down the slippery walkway, only inches from the flowing sewer beside it. He tried to keep it out of his mind, lest he find himself losing whatever was left of his lunch.

It probably was not the best idea she had in a while, but it certainly was not the worst. The necklace around the obese trodatome female, of whom many recognized her as Madame Roz, was a gorgeous piece and knew she would certainly find a buyer with the story she could tell with it. The pearls gleamed like the moons of Umbara and the red stones were so rich in color, it could be mistaken for blood. And for Thalia, it was breathtaking, it was hard not to pass it up when she saw it and tracked the gangster all the way to her quarters where she made the mistake of underestimating the creature's security detail and luckily the gang boss seemed to enjoy her spunk, that she would keep her around for just a little while longer.

Which meant in reality, until Roz was bored of her.

Thalia pressed her face against the bars, feeling her cheeks mold into space between as she let out a sigh, bored of her confines as she tried to brainstorm a way out. However, they seemed just as weary of her, never wanting to get too close to her cell door. The others who were imprisoned were subjected to harsh treatment; it pained her to see them abused and beaten for whatever crime they committed for crime and for Roz. It reminded her much of the Collective where the miners were beaten relentless until they met their unattainable quotas. The door squeaked as it opened again, and Thalia leaned back from the bars. This guy looked new, pretty cocky and over-confident and Thalia smiled feeling something burn inside, an urgency and push to follow her instinct, to which she nicknamed trouble.

"Hey, hey you." she said and he turned to look, "You wanna let me out." she told him and he just starred at her, his eyes seemed glassed over and Thalia's brow furrowed in her own confusion, "Let me out of here." she said again and too her shock and dismay, he did. Unlocking the cell door, he had released her with no objection. Baffled, Thalia only starred for a moment as she slowly stepped out of her cell, cautious if he tried to pull a fast on her. "Uh, thanks? Don't tell anyone." she commanded and he nodded, agreeing to her suggestion.

With a quirked eyebrow, Thalia watched him carefully as she walked out of the prisoner cell hall and started to find a way out.

With the aid of the force, he was able to outpace the thugs chasing him but by that time he had found himself thoroughly lost. The sewer tunnels were a vast labyrinth that crisscrossed their way through the entire city.

He should have stopped, focused and come up with a plan, but he charged ahead. He more or less stumbled into the crimelord's base by accident. He turned a corner and crashed into a woman who had just exited a door. He tumbled to the ground, sliding on the slick surface before scrambling ot his feet.

He raised his blaster. "Where do you keep the prisoners?" he said. He wished he had his lightsaber, he was only pretty sure he could hit the woman with his blaster even at this close of a range.

Kalen didn't have long, he could sense there were others coming. He needed to find the girl and get out....fast.

"Well.." he said, shaking the blaster at the woman.

Her escape was short-lived as she exited the prisoner's hold she immediately ran into someone else with a blaster. Her forehead smacked into his own and Thalia stumbled backwards rubbing her forehead just as the stranger recovered his stance. He demanded her to tell him where the prisoners were kept and she was overrun with an overwhelming sense of confusion to his request. She wasn't sure why someone who worked here demanded her to tell him what he should already know, but what would be the odds this guy was here to cause trouble for this particular gangster. Shaking her head, she threw up her hands to indicate she was unarmed as she quickly tried to process if this guy was a legit threat.

"I...um...I, there!" she pointed to a door at random, but as though if it were on cue, the door opened, revealing several armed guards returning from their break. Thalia grimaced and glanced at the guy with the blaster and then at the guards who seemed just as confused. But it was enough of a pause for Thalia make a quick decision and snatched a handful of Kalen's clothing and jerked him into armed guards. She of course took off running in the opposite direction as the guards seemed to be taken by surprised at the irrational decision and random visitors they had in the building.

It would only be minutes before the entire place was alerted to the Jedi's presence and the escape of one of their prisoners.

The door swung open as the woman spoke. The small group of thugs were slow to react to the duo standing in the passageway. Kalen shifted his blaster towards the newcomers.

The instant his attention shifted away from the woman, she lunged forward and grabbed him by the shirt. She tossed him towards the criminals. Kalen dropped the blaster as he was suddenly thrown off balance. It bounced several times as Thalia's feet before clanging to a stop.

Kalen was thrown further off balance when he stepped on a slick patch of ground causing him to slide the rest of the way into the thugs. He deflected off of the first one but was grabbed by the second one. A third one quickly punched him in the stomach causing him to fold over in pain as the air was forced from his body.

Two additional guards chased after the woman, blasters were already drawn. None of them wanted to be the one to tell Roz they had lost their newest prisoner.
