It did not take very long to make the trip from Geonosis to Corellia. In that time, BD-9 finally got some well needed cleaning. It was no oil bath, but at least the washing cleaned out a lot of gunk and dirt that piled into his joints over the years. He even got a nice rub on the photoreceptor! With his limbs, any sort of self grooming is nearly impossible to do. At least, it seemed that the Jedi padawan Riz'kacha had genuine concern for his well being.

Apparently Riz'kacha wanted to make the stop herself. It was not up to BD-9 to decide, since Riz'kacha owned the ship to begin with. As the Twi'lek brought the ship to land within one of the bays, BD-9's curiosity finally provoked the question.

// This unit wonders what is the purpose of stopping on this planet? // the droid beeped as he peered out of the cockpit's viewscreen from his seat. // Does Riz'kacha typically return to Jedi homeworld after training? //

After all, Corellia has never been known as a Jedi haven. But Beedee and the Twi'lek had only recently met and there was much for them to learn about each other. If Beedee's memory banks were accurate, the Jedi had not moved from their residence on Ajan Kloss for the past century, which was where the droid expected his organic companion to travel to after she finished her meditations on Geonosis. Perhaps Riz'kacha comes to Corellia regularly? Or was there something else that Riz'kacha had to take care of for the Jedi along the way home? There were many unknowns for the droid to consider.

To be honest, Riz'kacha had always wanted a BD unit. Ever since she had read about them and their functions, she had wanted to have one of her own to explore with. The fact that she had finally gotten one was partially a dream come true and partially extreme luck. But while cleaning the little guy, she had learned that maybe this droid was going to be a bit more upkeep than she had expected. For one, she didn't have a means to give him the oil bath he seemed to want so much.

She needed to research more about the units, which was the primary reason she had stopped here. Normally, she would've stopped at the Temple, true, but she had already tagged the canisters the duo had found on Geonosis and the little guy was her main priority. "I wanted to learn more about you. ...Or your units. If you stay with me, I would like to know how to maintain your effectiveness, for both of our sakes. It would be hard to replace a part you have if something were to happen or if routine maintenance is not assured."

She paused, "I doubt I can get much out of you about your past from just asking, so I will not. You are free to divulge that information as you wish. Or not, if you so choose." She collected her things, mainly her lightsaber and a personal datapad, and stored them in an inconspicuous place. She didn't want to draw too much attention to herself. "Do you have some way to hide in public? I would like to prevent droid hunters from trying to grab you."

BD-9 watched carefully as Riz'kacha answered his query. She seemed genuine about her intentions, which was about the best that Beedee could judge about the Twi'lek. It is as if Riz'kacha had taken ownership in everything but name. It is not as though BD-9 disliked the notion; his last master has probably died three to four decades ago, judging by average life expectancy. But having dodged the clutches of droid hunters not too long ago, it was logical to proceed with greater caution.

// This unit appreciates Riz'kacha's concern! // Beedee whistled. // The preliminary cleaning has been wonderful for this unit's joints. //

When Riz'kacha paused, Beedee tilted his head in anticipation. What Riz'kacha stated regarding his history was certainly true, though it had nothing to do with Riz'kacha herself. They just met, after all, and it is too early start addressing the Twi'lek as "master." The droid watched as Riz'kacha prepared to depart from the ship, ready to take off, when she posed the question to him.

// This unit regrets that it does not possess any means of active concealment. If Riz'kacha intends to hide this unit, a carry-able container is required. Otherwise, Riz'kacha may leave this unit with the ship. // BD-9 replied.

She seemed glad that he was satisfied with her scrubbing. Really, the poor guy had a lot of guck and grime that had built up over the years. It was a wonder that he moved around so quickly when he frequented places like those they had met in. She supposed that was a testament to how well he was built.

As for the matter at hand, Riz'kacha didn't necessarily have anything meant for droids in particular, but she did have a backpack. It was bulky, leftover from carrying cargo, but it would certainly hold the guy. After she went to retrieve it, she held it up, "What do you think of this? It should be big enough for you, at the least. I would rather have you with me, especially in a place such as this. Many criminals make their home on Corellia."

Whatever his response, she pulled out a datapad and mapped out a route to their objective. It shouldn't take too long to get to the historical center, assuming there wasn't any opposition.

BD-9 only took a moment to look at the backpack that the Twi'lek offered him. It certainly looked just large enough for Beedee to rest within, though it may be a little awkward with the droid's table-like head bouncing around inside. At least comfort is not an issue with droids.

// The backpack looks appropriate for the purposes of this unit! // Beedee beeped.

When Riz'kacha opened the bag, Beedee readily climbed inside. With the flap over the opening, Beedee's head stuck out a little, but the droid was capable of compressing its body in order to hide completely within the bag. As anticipated, Beedee's head bounced around inside when Riz'kacha slung the bag over her back, bumping into the Twi'lek in the process. But as long as the bag wasn't being swung around like a sling, it should be fine.

// Ready to go! // Beedee cheerfully announced as he poked his head out from underneath the flap.

"Glad to hear it." She said, adjusting the straps of the bag on her shoulders momentarily and doing a last minute check to make sure she had everything. Her lightsaber was on the inside of her jacket. The datapad was readily available from a pocket, and her communicator was still attached to her hip. She made a mental note to ask BD-9 about finding a way to talk to each other over distances. Did BD units have integrated communicators? She didn't know.

Speaking of BD-9, the little droid added a bit of weight to her load, being mostly comprised of metal, but she could manage. After taking a moment to get used to the weight and moving her lekku to rest on her front side, she took off. Heading down the loading ramp towards the center in question, "Let me know if you need me to slow down or anything, buddy. I'll try to make your ride as comfortable as possible." She spoke to no one in particular, but she hoped the little guy could hear her nonetheless.

It was a relatively short walk, all things considered; it was only going to take about fifteen to twenty minutes to reach their destination, crowd willing. There was also the matter of keeping an eye out for pickpockets, muggers, or any other nefarious persons that might be in the mood to mess with them. She was a Jedi, true, but she didn't want to draw too much attention to herself. Not with her little friend in tow.

Is it cruel twisted fate that trouble seemed to follow them wherever they went? It was as they traveled through the bustling Corellian streets that the two noticed a trio of mercenaries they were all-too-familiar with on the last planet they were on. Drerrick, Merrick, and Zerrick were huddled together at an intersection, conversing with a fourth individual. From where Riz and Beedee were, it was impossible to make out the features of that fourth person, but it seemed clear to both that four interested people is less desirable than three.

Beedee gave a worried whirr and slunk deep into the backpack, dimming the luminosity of his lights to avoid catching attention.

Fortunately for them, it seemed that the four parted ways without noticing the Twi'lek and the droid. The three droid hunters from Geonosis disappeared into the crowd, leaving the final figure behind. However, the moving crowd still made it difficult to see who that person is. And it seems like he is moving the same direction as the two. It is a little early to presume they are being followed, but it can turn worrisome quickly.

Seeing the returning figures, along with their new friend, worried Riz'kacha. Had they tracked her ship somehow? She'd have to check it thoroughly once they got back to their landing pad. For now though, the task at hand required her attention. As she continued to walk, she reached out with the force to try to keep track of the crowd. It was too hard to keep track of any individuals, but she would be able to tell if there were any hostile intentions coming their way.

In the meantime though, she gave the backpack a reassuring pat to let the poor droid know she was aware of the situation. She wanted him to know that nothing was going to happen to him if she was around. For now, at least, she stayed the course to the knowledge center.

Beedee emitted a soft hum as Riz'kacha gave his bag a pat, which was easily drowned out by the bustle of the crowd. He made no effort to move, letting the sway of the bag take control.

The mysterious figure, still obscured by the shifting crowd, did not seem to be making any effort to confront the two as they continued on to the library. At the very least, that was promising, though it does seem that the figure's final destination also happens to be the same place. When they entered the library and stepped inside, the figure did so as well. But they did not seem destined to collide yet. Once inside, Riz'kacha and Beedee separated from the figure, allowing them some reprieve from prying eyes.

Riz'kacha let out a sigh of relief as the stranger disappeared, and relaxed her sixth danger sense a bit. For now, it seemed, they were safe. Thankfully, the group being there seemed to just be a coincidence. That was what she hoped, at least. Taking care to try not to draw attention to herself, she ducked into an isle simple labelled 'Droids' and began to scour owners' manuals of all sorts of units. She was surprised that some of them were even there, considering how ancient they were. Still, eventually the Twi'lek seemed to find what they were looking for.

Titled, "Buddy Droids: BD Units and How to Maintain Them", the manual seemed to be exactly what she was looking for. Still, she needed to be sure. She flipped through the pages of the manual with a deft hand, skimming various paragraphs and sections. This guy was probably going to be a handful, should he choose to stay with her, but she was still willing to keep up if he'd keep her company. Even despite the growing laundry list of chores she'd need to keep an eye on. The rotator cuffs on the units apparently needed to be checked on frequently. She wondered how long it had been since BD had gotten a thorough examination of the part in question. "...I got what we needed, buddy. Hopefully we don't run into those creeps." She whispered back to her bag, giving it another pat.

Nodding in satisfaction, the Twi'lek began to make her way to the checkout counter. She didn't have many credits, truth be told, but thankfully data like this was rather cheap nowadays.

"Hey, is that you, Riz?"

Riz'kacha would turn around to find a Devaronian grinning back. He wore a tank top that let him show off how well built he was, but it, and the pair of electrobatons and blaster pistols that Riz'kacha knew he favored, was covered by the cloak he wore: the one that resembled the mysterious follower from earlier. The Twi'lek would recognize her rival bounty hunter Zukrol.

"I never pegged you as the one with her nose deep in datapads. What happened to you?" Zukrol teased her, giving her a friendly punch to the shoulder.

The sound of Zukrol's voice caused Beedee to perk up. He unballed himself, initially to take a peek at the speaker, but decided against it. Beedee remembered this voice.

"Word is that you polished a heart of gold. Care to share the truth?" the Devaronian continued while crossing his arms.

Riz'kacha stared dumbfounded for a moment at the man before her. Of all the people she expected to see, Zukrol wasn't one of them. Still, she needed to play things cool. Or as close to cool as she could get, anyways. "Oh please. Datapads were my life even when I was hunting for a living. But you are correct, there have been a few changes in my life since we've last seen each other."

Her eyes scanned the man, noting that his weapons were concealed as well, "...How about you? Are you still collecting debts from those who got conned into accepting loans they could not repay?" After she spoke, she realized that that had applied to her as well. Not her proudest feeling, if she was honest, but she hoped that was all he was here for just the same. She could defend herself if she needed to, and Beedee was her biggest concern.

Zukrol feigned a look of shock, a hand on his heart as though it was about to let out. "Your words wound me. We all had to do our jobs: how else are we to get paid?"

But he leaned close and gave Riz a serious look.

"Just between you and me: I'm on the verge of something way bigger than shaking down credits," he whispered.

"But enough of that. I am curious though: what got you interested in BD units?" Zukrol asked.

He must have been spying on her in library. It's probable that Zukrol actually recognized her in the streets and had worked out his moves from there. But Riz could probably sense an ulterior motive to his prying. After all, Zukrol did not know much about her Force sensitivity back when she was doing dirty work.

She knew where this was going. She hoped that he didn't already know the answer, but considering his line of questioning and the peculiar feelings being given to her from the force, she knew that was a bit of a tall ask. Her gaze shifted to the man's hands, trying to keep track of them so she didn't get caught unaware.

Still, she needed to provide him with an answer to try to avoid suspicion, "I have always been interested in BD units. I read about them when I was younger, and wanted to read more about them. Did you know their rotator cuffs require routine inspection?" She didn't really expect him to care, but she wanted to keep a somewhat friendly rapport between them to try to get him off her back. If nothing else, she wanted to protect her droid. She also didn't want the library to become the scene of an incident.

Zukrol just chuckled. "Tech talk isn't my specialty, Riz."

"But funnily enough, I'm waiting for one of those droids as my point of contact. Small galaxy, ainn'it?" he gave a single hearty laugh before stepping around Riz'kacha.

"See you 'round," he gave a two fingered salute before stepping out the door.

Beedee poked his head out as the Devaronian left and managed to catch a glimpse of him as he raised his hood over his horns.

// Uh oh... // he quietly whimpered.

The droid did know that Devaronian. In fact, he met him before taking his wild ride to Geonosis. What a massive coincidence that the Devaronian and Twi'lek knew each other. Quite well, in fact.

Beedee ducked back into the bag as Riz finished up her business buying the BD unit manual. There may be a lot of explaining to do once they are safely aboard the ship.

She gave him a small laugh in return, and simply watched as the man left. Frankly, things could've gone much worse, and she was glad that they hadn't. Still though, there was something wrong. Did Beedee have ulterior motives? Was he actually working with Zukrol? Her gaze shifted to the straps on her shoulder, before she got back to business. First the manual, then questioning.

After getting the transaction out of the way, she began to navigate the crowds once more, "...Beedee, when we get back to the ship, we're going to talk. I am not angry with you, but we have some things to discuss." True to her words, she didn't sound angry. However, she was worried about the implications of people like Zukrol having the plans to something like the Death Star. Whatever happened, she couldn't let that happen.

Fortunately, their journey back to the ship was uneventful. Once inside, and out of sight of peepers, Beedee shuffled his way out of the bag and onto the Twi'lek's shoulder. To say that the trip was uncomfortable would be an awful choice of words, but the freedom of movement was infinitely more preferable.

BD-9 transitioned from the Twi'lek's shoulder to the nearby table. Rather than turning to face the Jedi, Beedee switched on his holoprojector, transmitting an image of Zukrol himself, sitting down.

"What? There's plenty of things to find on Geonosis. Wars been fought over it, a massive cover-up of the genocide of the indigenous people, and they were real talented engineers too. Surely there would be some kind of stash of blueprints that hasn't seen the light of day for generations." The Devaronian leaned towards the camera. "If you share your findings with me, of course."

The droid turned off the recording to face Riz'kacha and gauge her response.

Riz'kacha spent the way back mostly concerned with watching out for dangers, but luckily it seemed that most of the trouble that was going to find them this trip was on its way out. Still, that didn't stop the Twi'lek's blue gaze from shifting from person to person as they walked, especially keeping an eye out for the Devaronian from the library. The last thing she needed right now was to see Zukrol coming towards them once more.

Once they got onto Riz's freighter once more and the droid had gotten itself situated, she was about to speak to him when its holoprojector sprung to life. She watched the Devaronian speak to the droid, beginning to come to a conclusion. That must've been why Beedee had been on Geonosis, but if Zukrol had sent him, why were his droid hunter friends after him? She filed that information back for later, though she had to admit that it bothered her. Mostly anything she didn't understand bothered her. After a moment of deliberation, she spoke up to the droid.

"How long have you known Zukrol? Was he your latest partner before I picked you up?" She figured that she'd test the waters at the very least, to try to see how the little guy responded. Riz kept a neutral tone as she spoke, clearly not upset with the cute little guy and moreso curious as to where he stood in all this. Surely he hadn't known about what exactly he was going to retrieve, right? It was hard to believe that such a cute and seemingly innocent droid would've been involved in something like this willingly.

BD-9 cocked his head to the side as he contemplated a reply to Riz'kacha's questions. There were still some things that even he was not entirely sure of, but it was more detrimental to simply evade the Twi'lek's questions.

// This unit had limited interactions with Zukrol. // the droid replied.

To say Zukrol was his partner or companion would be a bit of a stretch of definition, but they have certainly cooperated before. Typically they were exchanges of favors, which included Beedee holding onto data that he found over the course of the missions. But for Zukrol to hire droid hunters to capture him would indicate that the Devaronian left even Beedee in the dark.

// It is probable that Zukrol is telling the truth when he said that he was 'on the verge of something way bigger than shaking down credits.'" // the droid added.
