Interactive Map?

I would think that the Galactic Atlas would be a bit tedious to maintain, especially whenever new planets are added, or fanon lore changes. As such, I think it might be a good idea to create an interactive map, similar to that of the Star Wars Galaxy Map. In addition to being easy to update, this map would be able to be a lot more detailed (and zoomable!) than a simple PNG image.

That sounds like a great idea. However, would the BBCode we currently have on the site be able to support something like that? It's quite a lot of images to maintain on a single page, while having to encode each image to not only maintain their alpha channel and align above the others (Which, I can say, is a bloody nightmare trying to do as a user), but also be toggleable and resizable.

It also sounds like a whole lot of work.
