Yavin IV

Ajan Kloss and now Yavin IV, Jedi temples need to be in a Jungle...I'll store that for future reference. He would chuckle to himself as he slowly descended the Centennial Convor into the atmosphere of the expansive Jungle planet. It was strange here, there was a darkness that seemed to cling to life, but it felt distant and old, his eyes could see the tiny outlines of temples through his viewport. "I think that's the target," he would say as he shifted over towards Mila.

"Let's try and not to get into too much trouble this time," he would laugh as he flipped several switches and commands. His ship's system wasn't picking up on any major life, but there was system activity going on. The central command on his dash would begin to blink and beep, as an encrypted message came in. "Well, let's see if these codes we bought on Nar Kraaga will do the trick." His brown eyes would lower as he focused in, typing away at the system.

"They're redirecting us," he would chuckle, as he motioned for R2 to take control of the ship, "They don't want anybody around that giant landing pad." It seemed peculiar to the Jedi that they would be so concerned with keeping the traffic clear of that area.

"We're probably better off on foot," he'd say as he placed a hand on her shoulder in passing. He would make his way towards the back of his ship, checking to make sure he had his saber. He could feel the ship touch down against the earth and slowly the ramp to their ship would descend. "Well, let's see what the force has for us today."

Yavin IV, the site of several historic events. It was fitting that they would return here to start such an important chapter in the order, at least that chapter would be important once they were done with the work here. She'd never been aboard Oren's ship though, as it made her miss The Jabberwocky all the more. Still, she put the minor thought aside, focusing on the mission instead, as they were making their way through the atmosphere. Mila could feel the familiar caress of the dark side on this world, though it paled in comparison to what she had been exposed to on Mustafar. The mere remembrance of it however sent a shiver up her spine, as the Twi'lek tugged at her robes ever so slightly. "I think you're right." She spoke, though she was still distracted by her thoughts. She looked back to Oren, trying to shove those thoughts aside, and attempted to throw humor into the situation. "I don't see any sign of an arena, and I doubt they have a Rancor in stock. So it's already looking up." Mila chimed in, forcing a smile to the surface, though she still felt uneasy at this current moment.

Mila reclinded in the copilot station, knowing there wasn't much she could really do, except hope that the codes they had access to worked. "Well, worst comes to worst, you can always try the 'I left my real codes at home' excuse. Brahe taught me that. Sounds ridiculous, but sometimes it works. " She replied, aiming to keep the tension in the cockpit at a low, though it didn't seemed needed, as Oren was given permission to land. As the ship went in for a landing, Mila centered herself, attempting to clear her mind of distractions for the task ahead, then felt a hand be laid upon her shoulder. She glanced up to see Oren, who did not linger for long, as it was time to disembark. Taking in a breath, Mila rose to her feet, her hand brushing over the new lightsaber she had constructed recently, as she would join Oren in departing down the ramp. "I'm sure it'll be something unpredictable." Mila remarked, as once the ship made contact with the surface of the planet, the ramp was already deploying. She was hoping for the best, expecting the worse, and leaving it all up to the force to decide how it would unfold.

"Ah the Arena, too bad I don't have a black eye for you," he'd say with a wink, he felt at peace with Mila, her presence provided a comfort and familiarity that he rarely felt with many other Jedi. They had been through so much together and it helped forge a bond between the two of them that could stand even the toughest of situations.

The jungles on Yavin were different, the trees were much taller than Ajan Kloss and the sky seemed more intimidating, it felt alien here, strange almost. Focus on your task at hand, everything will work out, clear your mind The Jedi would remind himself as they sloshed through the rain and mud towards the large landing pad.

"They say the Rebellion used to use this as a headquarters during the time of the Old Empire," he would say in a low whisper, "These temples are the remains of some old religion, and the battle of the first death star happened here." He'd feel the excitement building inside of him as he rattled off several historical facts. "We could be the fore bearers of a new chapter in the Jedi."

But, that would have to wait, the ground would slowly tremble under their feet, and the historical sound of the kroonch kroonch kroonch of the AT-ST's chicken legs could be heard pounding along the trail. "Take cover, patrol in bound." He would dive towards a small bank on the side of the trail, his body hugging the mud as the walker came into display. "Let it pass, we'll take it out from behind."

He would watch as the lanky legs slowly snapped past them, "Alright I'm going in." He would pull himself up from the muck, sprinting behind the walker. With a subtle flick of his wrist he would pull his lightsaber towards himself, igniting it as he slid under the walker's legs, the purple blade slashing into the walker's legs. Sparks would fly and the walker would hitch momentarily, it's square box shifting down towards him. He had severely wounded one of its legs, but it was still up and it was angry. He could hear the spice runners calling out angrily from within. "They're calling in back up, we need to take this thing out soon before they arrive!"

ooc: rolled a 31 on a stealth check, a barely successful maneuver, they called in for the other two walkers to back them up within 2 rounds, and we will be overwhelmed if we don't take care of this guy before then.

Mila listened to the history lesson provided by her jedi counter part, wondering where he had learned that tidbit of information. She knew about the death star battle of course, but she couldn't bare to deflated how excited he sounded; after all, she too got excited about sharing history like that. "That we could, but it will require us completing out mission for that." Mila commented, as she looked at the strange floral life here. What really caught her interest was the sky though, it was so...strange yet captivating. Sadly, such gazing was cut short, as Mila felt the ground shaking. Looking to Oren, he seemed to piece it together rather quickly, as it looked like their targets were coming towards them. Mila threw herself into a nice patch of shrubbery, as she waited for Oren's signal. Take it out from behind? That sounded like a rather sound ideal. "I'll follow right after you." Mila stated, as she watched the walker pass by, thankfully it looked as if they had avoided detection. Mila slowly rose as Oren took off towards the walker, a tad surprised that the knight had taken such a gamble.

Mila watched as Oren nicked the walker in the leg, as while he had damaged one of it's joints, the vehicle was still operational. Oren called out a warning, alerting that they were calling in for reinforcements. So much for doing this quick and easy, but then again, nothing good ever came for free. Fully emerging from her cover, Mila drew her saber. The aqua colored blade flamed to life, as she mapped out her attack pattern. She rushed towards the ATST, as it's attention was focused on Oren. Leaping up, Mila angled the saber down, as her blade sliced through the back end of the walker, and was dragged over the top of the war machine. Sparks flew wildly from the walker, as Mila landed atop of the craft and struggled to stay on top, as the pilots attempted to shake her loose. The jedi knight launched herself off the back, throwing her saber at the connection point between the head of the walker and it's legs, creating a bright flash as the saber sliced through the control mechanism, and combined with the damage to it's legs, the walker fell in three pieces; it's head module tumbled off to the side, as it's left leg snapped off, taking the right leg and center piece with it. Mila hit the ground, slightly off balance, as she caught her saber on the rebound. "Well...that's one..." She remarked, in the midst of catching her breath. She had a feeling the other two walkers would not be defeated so easily.

Oren could see the blasters pointed at him, he brought his saber up in preparation, Eh...I really hope a lightsaber can defelect these shots. His teeth clenched with anticipation as he could see the shot charging up, followed by the snap--but the shot never came in his direction. His brown eyes would open to see the walker slowly flailing around as Mila attacked it.

"You really like jumping on tall walking things," he'd chuckle as his mind flashed back to the Rancor. He would quickly roll out of the way as Mila attacked and surprisingly took out the damaged walker. The large chicken walker would slowly buckle and crumble to the ground. Wasting no time, Oren would quickly move towards the latch on the head. He would begin to cut through the door, popping the metal frame in to reveal two Duros. They would quickly cower and raise their hands as Oren pointed his blade towards them.

"Out of the ship now," he would point towards them, watching as they moved out. He would raise his hand gently, suggesting through the force, "You want to leave this planet and return home."

The two gangsters would sneer and laugh, "That kriff doesn't work on me clanker brains!" One would quick draw a pistol shooting Oren in the leg, which caused him to crumble to the ground. The other would drop a fob that was blinking. It seemed the pair had quickly found themselves in a trap.

Oren wouldn't be much help at the moment, it could stabilize, but they were closed to being overwhelmed. The sound of a dozen men came crashing through the woods, and the distant walkers could be heard approaching very soon. "It's a trap!" The Jedi would call out.

ooc: oof a 4 out of 100, my bad.

Mila was half surprised her endeavor even worked, as she gave a reply to one of Oren's comments. "It's an old habit, used to rock climb with that trick. Was great fun when I was younger." She smiled, as she kept on watch for any more trouble, though Oren seemed to realize that the operators in the ATST were still a risk. Despite the looming danger, something else spoke to Mila, that there was greater peril coming towards them, but what? She turned her attention to Oren, as he began to speak to the two pilots who seemed to be cowering inside their craft; not that she blamed them. She had thought they would have surrendered, maybe seeing how bad the situation was for them.

To her surprise, that wasn't what they went with, as she watched one of the Duros level a blaster towards Oren and fire off a shot before Mila could intercede. "Oren!" She called out, rushing to his side, as she brought her saber infront of the injured knight and his attackers. No sooner had she interposed, that she realized that their situation was rather dire. Mila heard the sounds of war cries and the crunching of trees to her right, and spun around to see several blaster shots being taken at her. She brought up her saber, trying to stop the onslaught, but there were just too many. She took one blast to the knee, another to the shoulder, then one of the Duros fired a stun shot while she was still open, and she hit the ground relatively quickly. Her saber rolled from her hands as she made contact with the forest floor, her vision started to grow black as she could still see Oren out the corner of her eye. Was this how it was going to end? Had the force truly lead them here just to meet this fate? Mila wouldn't have the luxury to ponder such thoughts, as another stun shot slammed into her, and the darkness quickly over took her.

OOC: Rolled a 5, Oren clearly is to blame.

Well it seemed things were only going to get worse. Whatever good luck they had seemed to run out and they were quickly surrounded. He would reach out towards the twi'lek as she was stunned. He could see a whole score of men make their way out from the various brush that lined the roads. "Bloody wizards..." One of them said.

"I thought they were just a myth and Strazor was just making it up about that temple."

"Meh, who cares, collect em up and let's go, I heard these things collect a pretty chit, besides..maybe we can turn them in to that Hutt and get some serious clout."
A duros would argue as he approached the Jedi. "Night..night," he'd sneer as he pointed a stun blaster towards his chest. With one click the shot was off and he was out cold--it seemed Oren and Mila had a habhit of finding themselves locked up.

//Mission failed, we'll get em next time. --> Moving to the contingency thread.
