DESCRIPTION
The Illness-class starbomber is a light ground/ship attack spacecraft manufactured by Perfected Systems Unlimited and operated primarily by the forces of the Sith Empire. One of the few designs in Imperial service not produced by the traditionally favored Imperial Fleet Works corporation, the Illness is nevertheless one of the more ubiquitous combat spacecraft used by the Sith, and indeed an important part of Imperial tactical doctrine, especially against the traditionally brush-fire conflicts which had been commonplace for several centuries before the bombardment of Medriaas.

Designed primarily for swift attack operations, the Illness is well equipped for its role, delivering its payload against primarily capital ships and ground targets. The vessel is well armed, with a useful load consisting of 6 proton torpedoes from 2 launchers. Twin medium laser cannons fire forward, giving the craft some ability to strafe targets with guns as well.

In addition to its armament, the Illnes is equipped with a light deflector shield, as well as a class 4 hyperdrive, giving it mobility and a small amount of extra durability. This is just as well, as although the Illness is well equipped to take on stationary or slow-moving targets, it lacks any true defensive weapons, and is too slow and comparatively sluggish in maneuvering to nekfight with most proper starfighters. As a result, it is heavily dependent on escorting starfighters to clear enemy interceptors from its attack vector. In cases where it is possible to do so, Illness pilots will try to come in low and fast against targets such as airfields in an effort to catch enemy snubfighters on the ground, where they are easy prey.

LEGALITY
Restricted. In civilized systems, pilots must be properly licensed or be members of recognized armed groups.

INTENT
To create a light bomber for use by the forces of the Sith Empire.

ADVANCED TECH
Yes. Illness-class starbombers are well armed, and it would require a plot for a character or faction to earn, steal or otherwise acquire one.
