DESCRIPTION
Designed as a marriage between the spider droids of the Baktoid Armor Workshop and the Hailfire droid tanks of Haor Chall Engineering, the IG-3001 was a joint project by both of the Separatist companies during the later stages of the Clone Wars. Built primarily as an anti-aircraft tank, the IG-3001 was equipped with a Quad Laser Cannon perfectly suited to shooting starfighters and other, small, ships down. The Quad Laser Cannons were, however, the secondary weapon of the IG-3001 as it's primary weapon was it's hailfire missile launcher pod which, when combined with it's sensor suite and targeting computer, allowed it to be accurate against ground and air targets.

Downsides of the IG-3001 were spotted almost immediately, however, as the hailfire missile launcher pod could not be built onto the IG-3001 in such a way that would enable combat-reloading, forcing the droid to power down to reload it's missile pod. Alongside this, the greater power required for the targeting computer and the sophisticated (especially for the time) sensor suite meant that the droid needed additional power cells that would need to be swapped out after Two Days of use - these were built onto the exterior of the droid to avoid crowding the internal systems but these are then tempting targets for attack.

Production of the IG-3001 was spotty at the best of times due to being designed and produced during the height of the Clone Wars themselves, at a time when both companies were devoted to maintaining the numbers of their existing models. Primarily seeing action in the Outer Rim sieges as counters to gunship landing attempts, the majority of IG-3001 units were deployed to the Outer Rim planets of the Separatist movement and many of them never left. In an attempt to turn the tide in at least one area of the Galaxy, entire shipments of the dangerous droid tanks were sent to Outer Rim planets in the waning days of the Clone Wars only to never actually arrive due to the potent combination of opportunistic pirates and the general shutdown codes being broadcast for their transports.

LEGALITY
Restricted. As they are developed purely for warfare on a large and destructive scale, it is classed as an armored military vehicle so civilian ownership is illegal. Only recognized military and private military contractors are able to buy and operate these legally in most areas of the Galaxy.

INTENT
To create a mixture of the Spider Droids and Hailfire Droid tanks from canon and bring it to the site in a believable way to fill to hopefully fill a niche.

RESTRICTIONS
As a very destructive military vehicle/droid, the IG-3001 cannot be owned by individual characters, but can be acquired as a faction asset.
