Like most Arkanians, his intelligence is his strength. As are his skills with piloting and computers. His weakness is his lack of physical strength and tactical strategy as pertaining to any group larger than ten. Four is preferred.

PERSONALITY:
Ian is fairly easy-going and relaxed. He can focus when he needs to, but otherwise, he takes a lighter approach. He is not one to easily have his buttons pressed. Rusch enjoys spending time with others and especially enjoys his studies on the force as well as lightsaber combat, much preferring Form III over any of the other lightsaber forms.
HISTORY:
Ian Rusch was an outcast. A sub-species in Arkanian society. Sentenced to work the famed Arkanian gem mines for life, if you could call that a life. As most off-shoots, Ian was very vulnerable to minor Arkanian illnesses, though he did begin to build up quite the constitution, it took a long, long while.
As a boy, his education was severely second-rate, as Arkanian culture thought it should be, when compared to the education of his pure-blood Arkanians of the same age. Regardless though, Ian made the best of it, doubly applying himself to what schooling was available to him.
Before he reached the appropriate age to work the mines, Ian pulled forced labor hours at the space port. He was congenial enough and extremely hard-working, that some of the pilots who frequented the planet would teach him some basic skills of piloting and astro-navigation.
Ian was no dummy, and was soon planning a way to escape his so-called life. His plan was foiled though as a mining accident took the lives of a good number of other offshoots, and the Arkanians decided to recruit early. Rusch never had the opportunity to even attempt his escape.
Instead, he spend the next five plus years working the mines. He figured his life was pretty much set now, until one day when a Jedi came to the planet on some sort of mission. What it was, Ian didn't know, however, it led the Jedi to the mines, and Ian's force sensitivity was discovered.
Since that day, Ian has lived his life within the Jedi Order, serving the Republic. Whenever possible, he does what he can to help eliminate slavery in the galaxy. The runic tattoos that decorate his face, neck, chest and shoulders are a testament to that battle. It's quite a long story, and will be reserved for some other time. Maybe.
