Remiel made sure the wound wouldn't harm any major muscles or strike any major arteries, instead, he allowed it to enter only a few centimeters into Mathius' leg.

"Be sure to keep watch on the enemy at all times; never let your guard down, even for a moment. The moment you do, your life is forfeit to a skilled soldier. Do you understand?" Remiel asked, stern but still relatively calm.

Removing the knife from his trainee's leg, Remiel leapt back and landed about half a meter away from Mathius' position. The trace amount of blood from his trainee was still fresh on Remiel's knife, so he cleaned it on the ground. Performing his next attack without warning, Remiel leapt at his pupil with both weapons in hand - longsword and knife - this time, however, he was aimed for the same spot. Attacking Mathius' shoulderblade, Remiel drove both weapons toward their mark with increased strength behind it.

If the attack wasn't dodged or blocked, a small cut would again remind Mathius of the consequences of a wandering mind. Remiel decided to bring his weapon down with a bit more force than normal, hoping that his trainee would think on his feet and be creative in parrying or dodging the attack.

Mathius noticed the Captain came at him little more agressive than he had been, so Mathius decided it was his turn to give it to the Captain. Mathius did not get up right away and as the Captain came down Mathius flick his own feet, catching the Captain in the leg.

His leg clipped and caught by Mathius' kick, Remiel rolled forward and ended up behind Mathius. Propping himself upward, Remiel brushed the dust off of his cloak and straightened his hat. Holding his hand out to assist his trainee up, Remiel smiled.

"Good work. Combat is no problem for you, it seems. Just remember to keep wary, always imporve, and you'll get even better. Considering you're here because you're a sniper, I believe that's enough melee combat for today."

Mathius took the Captains hand, lifted himself up and wiped off the trickle of blood on his leg.

"After you sir."

Remiel nodded. "If you need any medical herbs or salves for that wound, you can fetch them from that medical crate over there; if you think you'll be fine, follow me. You'll take your final test."

Turning around, Remiel sheathed his weapons and headed off toward a small hill in the distance.

Mathius sheathed his sc'rath. Grabbed his rifle and made sure his blaster was holstered. Following the Captain up the hill he wondered what was next.

"Alright," Remiel finally said. Standing atop this hill, the two soldiers could see for several miles in all directions; it was truly an awe-inspiring spectacle of clouds and fauna.

Remiel pointed far to the east of their current location, far enough that its focus could barely be seen by the naked eye. "I trust you see that being over there? That Human has been identified as a smuggler. He was stealing from Alsakan military outposts and organizing coups and propaganda against us. I want you to snipe him dead. Be careful though, your target must die. The others surrounding him right now are innocent, though it is your choice whether to take them down as well. Keep in mind there can be no witnesses."

Eying the location again, Remiel managed to pick out Mathius' target: a dark-haired, lightly tanned male of about 31, among a group of Twi'leks, Duros, and other aliens.

Mathius, saluted the Captain and made his preparations to his sniper rilfe. First thing was first, Mathius estimted the range of the group, roughly 500 meters. Picking up some grass and tossing it in the air gave him a sense of what the wind was like, it was slight, about 4-5km west to east. The Captain heard the tapping noise of Mathius changing his sight for the shot.

After sighting the weapon, Mathius decided he would be in a better position to take out everyone, sitting with his legs crossed underneath him. This gave him more mobility to take out all of his targets.

After 5 quick shots, all of them being head shots, Mathius saw 1 male human, 2 Twi'leks and 2 Duros on the ground, red masses for all of their heads. releasing the hand grip and clearing the weapon, he rose and stood at attention in front of the Captain.

"Sir, orders complete sir."

"Excellent," muttered Remiel. "Satisfactory preparation, very well-placed shots, and all around efficient work. You took out the target, but also took the lives of the innocents around him. While you may not have identified them as such, that is what they were: innocents. Sometimes, the deaths of others is necessary in war. Following your commander's orders is the duty of the soldier - his final duty."

Pulling his hat off his head, he allowed it to dangle freely from the cords that held it to his neck to reveal his long, ebony hair. Saluting Mathius, Remiel smiled and made sure he expressed his pride in his newest recruit.

"You did good, soldier. But it's only my job to teach you the basics of combat, war, and the Alsakan way. You must discover the rest on your own. Good luck, fight well, and may Shalharra guide your actions."

Turning around, Captain Remiel Vaern re-placed the hat atop his head and turned around. Without a word, he left his trainee alone on the hillside with nothing but his sniper rifle.

Still standing at attention, Mthius saluted the Captain back. Now it was time for some drinks at the barracks.
