I was going to add on, there is a few things " in a nut shell" that can be covered like the very basics of the time line. However right now at this point there are alot of different little things happening with the main factions, and the indi factions, so it's really really tough to pin point " exact" things. But if there is any direction your curious about, I'd be more than happy to answer the best I can.

Universe-wise, the Hutt Empire just went through a violent military Coup that disposed of the old leadership and brought in new leaders.

Aside from that, idk. The Republic is getting ready for a fight, but there's a lot of groundwork to be laid before much happens there. Oh, and a former corporation called Jade Galactic went completely freakin' loopy, blew up a bunch of people, then ran away and hid, with estimated civilian casualties in the hundreds of thousands. [The attacks were on JG's Corellia and Coruscant headquarters and facilities, and occured pretty much a few days ago, in terms of the in-character universe]
