Hutt Governor resigns as crime links alleged
Former governor, Nor’baal Desilijic of Kessel, has resigned from his position within the Independent Systems Consortium, in a statement issued earlier today.
The statement, which comes after allegations emerged that the Governor had links to organised crime, included references to the recent decision to outlaw slavery on the infamous mining planet. In the statement, Hutt referred to the practice as ‘unprofitable’, suggesting that this was the primary motivator to outlaw it whilst he was in office.
Nor’baal, who ran on an election platform that sought to dispel rumours that Hutts were ‘universally crooks’ cited ‘increased scrutiny into the family business’ as the reason for his resignation. Commentators were quick to condemn the Hutt, claiming he had solid links to the Hutt Clans - a criminal organisation. Former governor, Nor’baal, has consistently denied that the Hutt Clans are criminals, and was reported to have claimed that “according to the core, everyone in the rim is a criminal simply for trying to make a living”.
His office was unavailable for comment, with a spokes-being for the Government of Kessel stating that the former governor had left the planet earlier today.
