HUTT CARTEL
NAVY

h55pIid.png

More than any other institution in Hutt Space, the Cartel Navy shows how the organization blurs the lines between legitimate interstellar power, and criminal cabal. Unlike powers with a formal military, the Cartel does not host academies, mandatory training courses, and most certainly does not enforce insignificant rules such as a dress code. Instead, members of the Cartel Navy are recruited from the smuggling, pirate, private military, and other space-based organizations that come under its sphere of influence. They are typically seasoned spacers and are paid quite handsomely for their services in what would be officer roles in other navies. What would be the enlisted members run the gamut from kids fresh off the farm to veteran spacers who worked their way into the Cartel's employ along with their Captains.

The main goals of the Cartel Navy are the defense of Hutt assets, the economic undermining of competitors, and increasing the economic might of the Cartel. The last of these roles is the largest, as the Cartel's ships act as a vast merchantmen armada, shipping goods to and from the borders of Hutt Space. The merchantmen aspect also acts as go between for the various smuggling rings under or affiliated with the Cartel, providing safe drop-off points for illegal merchandise, and also bringing that merchandise to smugglers for them to ship into systems beyond Hutt control.

In the role of an engine of economic undermining it can be seen as a massive pirate fleet, preying on ships to weaken independents, and rivals while at the same time increasing its own wealth with the goods captured. The only rule against this hunting is that it cannot occur in Hutt Space itself without permission from the higher ranks of the Cartel, making Hutt Space look comparatively attractive to traders and shipping organizations than the systems raided by the Hutts. In its defensive role, the Cartel Navy safeguards systems controlled against other pirate threats, and especially against the might of the Imperium on its northern border which represents the biggest threat to Hutt gains.

The ships of the Cartel Navy are divided into two different groups for this purpose. The more formal Cartel Defense Fleet, which holds the largest ships and is directly answerable to the Grandee Lorda, is tasked with safeguarding Hutt Space and assets from invasion. The CDF is considered to be the more senior branch of the navy, and holds the vast majority of actual military grade equipment, but is only a quarter the size of the Imperial Navy. The Raider/Merchantmen Fleets of the Kajidics are less formal, and feature less military hardware, as well as smaller vessels. The ship's they use are more likely to be converted civilian designs, or outdated military vessels retrofitted for service. They are focused more on the commercial and pirate activities associated with the Cartel's Naval Forces.

CARTEL DEFENSE FLEET
The Cartel Defense Fleet is the massive, hodgepodge, of military vessels possessed by the Hutts and tasked with defending their territory. Under the command of the Granee Lorda and the individuals he deems fit to oversee it, the CDF is the first line of defense against incursions into Hutt Space, but it is not well suited for invasion itself. The myriad of different designs maintained make logistics a nightmare operating too far out from Hutt Space for extended periods of time, and in many cases the Cartel has little incentive to invade in the first place. It's preferred method of expansion is less overt and more focused on economic and criminal enterprises than warfare. After the disastrous conflict with the Bothans it became clear to even the most bloodthristy that attempts to do so by military might required a greater investment and had a greater risk for failure than the targets for such expansions were really worth.

Only a quarter the size of the Imperial Navy, the Defense Fleet draws primarily on ships from the repossessed Chiss Fleet, purchases from Mandalmotors, and designs being built at the renewed Rothana Heavy Engineering yards. The CDF possesses most of the true military vessels within Hutt Space, and the largest ships in the Cartel. While only a fraction the size of the Empire's forces, the Defense Fleet has far less ground to patrol. Indeed the CDF's main strategy advocates defending only a few worlds over trying to defend all of Cartel territory from incursion, allowing them to concentrate their forces where they would be most useful and supplemented by better ground-to-space and orbital facilities as well.

The main anchorages of the Cartel Defense Fleet are in the Sleheyron, Y'Toub, and Rothana systems.

Stations

Originally developed as a counterpart for the more trade oriented space stations, the "Grand Lord" Battle Station would evolve to become a much bigger, more heavily armed, beast to complement the Hutt fortification of certain system. The station boasts an impressive armament but more importantly is designed with heavy armor plating, and heavy shields that allow it to take a beating. Whereas the other stations in Cartel possession are designed to be able to field a large number of support craft, and hold its own against a small star destroyer, the Granee Lorda is designed to take sustained fire from multiple capital ships, and their support craft.

By itself it might not have the firepower to overwhelm an enemy formation, but it can stay in the fight much longer, a valuable trait for something that's essentially an immobile target. The Granee Lorda can support a great deal of large capital ships, allowing it to act as the primary station for battlegroups, and it's targeting and fire control allow it help coordinate the fire of those battlegroups should an enemy appear in the vicinity of the station.

The deployment of Granee Lorda's is currently very limited. The smaller hangars combined with less free space for cargo mean the station has less of an economic value, an important factor to a power like the Hutt Cartel. As part of the Cartel Defense Fleet, there are 3 deployed in the Sleheyron, Y'Toub, and Rothana Systems to support their status as main anchorages. The Gos Hutta, Mulatan, and Bootana Shagplan systems each have 1 deployed within them as they serve as the gatekeepers to the Bootana Hutta region.

The "Splendor" space station was developed for, and purchased by the Hutt Cartel as part of the Cartel's ongoing efforts to further fortify their space. Originally intended to simply replace antiquated stations in the Fortress System of Gos Hutta, the Plesodoro proved to be extremely cost effective thanks to their massive hangars allowing the Cartel to use them as platforms for commerce as well. Only authorized members of the Cartel and trusted affiliates have access to the full station however, and an array of internal defenses prevents visitors from going where they aren't wanted. Docking ports between the "towers" serve as the repair docks, and the cargo capacity of the station is further increased by massive cargo pods which typically hold non-hazardous material.

The disaster of the Hutt-Bothan Conflict would prompt the Cartel to place orders for many more of these stations, realizing that a fleet was only as good as the facilities to maintain it. Before long the Plesodoro would be one of the most common space station designs. Plesodoro's often act as anchorages for small task forces, but are fully capable of holding their own against a small star destroyer often relying on their jamming beams to severely disrupt an attacker's targeting systems allowing the vast array of small craft they house to overwhelm it.

The defenses are arrayed in a way to keep the station defended from an attack from any angle, although the Medium Laser Cannons are concentrated around the hangars to defend the obvious weak point in the design. The hangars are further reinforced with duranium blast doors, and well trained support staff remove will quickly any volatile's from them to prevent disaster.

In peace time, Hutt Raid Stations fill a role similar to that of a customs and border checkpoint. They interdict vessels entering Hutt Space, inspect cargo, and oftentimes refuse to let a ship pass without a bribe or a cut of the cargo being hauled. As little (if anything) is actually illegal in Hutt Space most who experience passing through such a station often think of them as little more than platforms for organized extortion. Members of the Cartel itself of course can pass through without the usual shakedown, one of the few perks enjoyed at all levels of membership, something which encourages freighter captains and smugglers to join.

In times of war, these stations by themselves don't present a huge threat to enemy fleets, but are a massive annoyance as enemy must stop to deal with them before heading on their way again. When an enemy has to stop and fight before even reaching the intended destination where they expect to fight a battle these stations go from mere annoyances to being able to wear down an enemy before any heavy fighting has even began. In addition they serve as first warning platforms, constantly transmitting an all-clear signal to the Central Hub on Nar Shaddaa. If it should stop singally it would signal the Hutts that either an invasion is imminent, or some other threat significant enough to threaten their interests.

Due to the ease with which they are built, and the profit generated, at least one of these stations can be found throughout Hutt Space, usually near the border regions. Oftentimes payment at one station is enough to keep someone from being hassled at another to ensure that negative customer satisfaction is never high enough to cut into profit margins. To achieve this stopped ships are given a code to transmit to the next station that stops them, allowing them to proceed with only mere minutes of delay. No matter how annoying these stations may be to the average traveler, they are also considered to be less of a hassle than the complex customs procedures enforced on many worlds, and as a show of good faith if a ship with the appropriate code is delayed for more than 30 minutes its crew will be compensated.

Originally designed by TransGalMeg as an asteroid mining platform, the AMP-442 "Star Trench" has been modified greatly for service in the Hutt Cartel. The design was intended to serve as a platform for other mining vessels, and cargo haulers that would take the mined ore to refineries and markets. Heavy shielding was installed to ensure the platform stayed safe from any impacts or accidents, and tractor beam projectors could be used to drag mineral rich asteroids along with it, if it changed locations.

As the Hutt Cartel began its rise to power, they bought many of these platforms for use as mobile marketplaces. Able to stay a step ahead of any law enforcement, they could serve as bazaars for slaves, narcotics, weapons, and more. Some were even converted into gambling establishments, and more still were kept as mining vessels. With the loss of a large portion of their military in the Bothan Campaign, the Hutts would find another use for the Star Trench as a carrier platform. They outfitted them with a number of point defense lasers, and upgraded the already impressive shielding.

As a carrier, the Star Trench's often patrol in the very extremes of Cartel Systems outside of most sensor ranges. Should a system come under siege, they'll hang back until the assaulting fleet is fully engaged with other system defenses, and then unleash a swarm of starfighters and other small craft to surround and annihilate them.

DESCRIPTION

The Super Star Destroyer to end all Super Star Destroyers. Clearly an imposing sight on any horizon, the Scylla-class is a true monster. Easily the most heavily-armed ship in the Cartel Navy, its weaponry is only matched by its durability, which is owed to its heavy battle plating and honeycombed internal structure. Naturally, such a heavily-armed ship requires massive amounts of power, and thus an entirely purpose-built series of reactors were utilized. The ship's hangars are an oddity to some as they are massive circular caverns protected by specialized blast doors. Another interesting aspect is that the bridge is buried amidships at the center of the ship's structure, though some commanders choose to utilize the forward observation area on the bow for a more-personalized approach to battle.

The Scylla design trades speed, hangar capacity, and a more flexible armament, for increased firepower on the whole. Hosting a large amount of turbolasers, the ship is dependent on escorts to cover it from bomber based attacks, and it is rare to see the ship operate all on its own. The design is both very manpower intensive, and resource intensive. Thus far only 1 of these ships has been completed, the Scylla herself. The ship is stationed at the Rothana Anchorage to safeguard the shipyards there from attack.

Battlecruisers
(all starships between 2,000 and 5,000 meters)

The "Commander" Class Battlecruiser represents the largest vessel taken from the Chiss by the Hutts, and one of the largest vessels currently in Cartel service. These massive warships are the Cartel's trump card against invasion, and thus scarcely deployed outside Cartel Space as they serve in a defense role. The ship's are heavily armed, and armored owing, and superb at slugging it out with other capital ships. The heavy armor, and shields in particular are necessary to allow the Crahsystor to bring targets within range of its powerful, but short range, maser weaponry. The ship carries less support craft than battlecruisers deployed by the Imperium or the defunct Galactic Alliance, owing to the space taken up by the weapons and armor systems.

The Crahsystor is decently maneuverable, and fast, for a ship of its size, but isn't especially quick to accelerate. Designed for long-term missions and endurance, it carries a great deal of supplies for long range voyages, and has spacious cargo holds which also eat into the support craft capacity. The Crahsystor's in service of the Cartel have been heavily retrofitted to make it more compatible with non-Chiss technology. Many of these ships were later destroyed during the Hutt-Bothan Conflict, and the Cartel is wary about deploying them on a whim. The few remaining are the only capital ships of their size the Cartel possesses, and until Rothana can start producing ships of the Crahsystor's size en masse, they are also the only defense the Cartel has against the larger warships of the Imperium.

DESCRIPTION

The new main carrier of the Cartel Navy. Designed to smash forward through enemy formations with heavy firepower and starfighter complements, the Deluge is heavily armed along forward and side arcs. The downside is that the rear-firing arc is under-defended against capital ships though there is still a heavy anti-starfighter presence. A key detail of the Deluge is its heavy armor-plating, especially along the bow, forward mandibles, and dorsal sections, which has rendered it a bit slower than other vessels of its class. It's overall maneuverability, is likewise on the sluggish side.

The Deluge is also capable of performing in atmospheric operations and can be used to deploy ground troops using its exceedingly powerful repulsor engines to "land" temporarily. This was a deliberately-ordered trait for the Star Destroyer to possess to offset the Cartel's lack of ground-assault transportation. Another specially-ordered trait of the Deluge is its ability to act as an fleet carrier at the expense of some of the heavier weaponry. With modular-racks for starfighters, the Sledgehammer to deploy its starfighter complement with great speed, although recovery times are lengthened due to the amount of protection covering the hangars.

The Deluge is only just starting to come into the line, and its deployment is thus still very limited. Replacing mainly the outdated Mandalorian, and poorly armed, Mandalorian vessels that were once at the top of the Cartel food chain, the Deluge is currently a supplement to Crahsystor design. Offering superior support craft capabilities to cover the lack thereof in the Chiss design.

DESCRIPTION

Built in the restored shipyards around Rothana, the Delta-class Star Destroyer is the first capital ship line ready for mass production. Fully-armed and operational, the Delta is the long-awaited successor to the ancient Venators of the Clone Wars. It is the brain-child of a former Galactic Alliance engineer and a think-tank of Rothani ship-builders. At present Delta's are only just starting to fill in the gaps in the Hutt Fleet, replacing outdated Mandalorian and Chiss designs. The ship's main turbolasers are sponson mounted, along the centerline of the ship with two sponsons facing directly forward, three on either side, and two in the rear. The proton torpedo tubes are fixed facing forward, while the medium turbolasers are clustered near the bridge tower on top, and a similar position on bottom, while the point defense lasers are spread equally.

The Delta is meant to serve as an effective destroyer and escort carrier to the new fleet that has been brewed around Rothana. Its hull is honeycombed for added durability in order to offset the potential vulnerability of having a massive cavernous hangar, and its shielding is unmatched by ships of similar size. The bridge tower, and the hangars are particularly well armored, with additional alusteel plating to prevent any accidents from crippling the ship. The ship is lighter in the firepower department than some mainline Star Destroyers, but is as fast as the old Imperial Class, and has good handling for a capital ship of its size. Of course, none of that would be possible without the advanced reactor built by a family of former CEC engineers and GA officers. The new age of capital ships is here, and it's in the hands of the Hutt Cartel.

Heavy Cruisers
(all starships between 600 and 1,000 meters)

The Keldabe is an ancient and venerable design, which was recreated and downsized for commercial sale by MandalMotors. Though it sports a lighter armament than the original and is nearly half the size, it still possesses heavy armor, powerful engines, and all the reliability and rugged toughness that MandalMotors customers have come to expect. The Hutt Cartel own the largest fleet of these starships to date. These ships have been modified by the Cartel for continued service, as they remain the only heavy cruisers of an actual military design in the Cartel Defense Fleet.

Light Cruisers
(all starships between 400 and 600 meters)

The Mainstay, as its name would suggest, was designed by Rothana to be the mainstay of the Cartel Fleet. Relatively simple, the Mainstay's design is intended to be well rounded. Good shields, good armor, a decent weapons loadout, and relatively fast, and good the maneuver, the ship isn't stellar in any one area. The only place it really falls short is in its ability to field starfighters, and other support craft. The ship has no room for hangars, and in most areas it can only be described as average, if well built.

The heavy turrets are mounted on the dorsal, and ventral sides of the ship, with five being further forward, built on top and bottom of the the housing for the turbolaser guns, with the last two being at the rear of the ship, between the two engines. The turbolaser cannons are housed inside what were originally intended to be hangar or cargo bays, before the decision was made to attempt to up gun the ship with the heavier cannons. The shutters/doors must be raised, and the guns are fixed to fire port and starboard, and short range. Devastatingly effective against a target that gets raked by them, but not as versatile as the firepower a starfighter squadron possesses.

The Mainstay also comes equipped with a fixed, forward facing, heavy ion cannon for easier interdiction duties. the cannon is capable of firing very rapidly for its size, and is backed up by two heavy proton torpedo launchers mounted in the area beneath it. A number of point defense guns also exist for anti-starfighter/ordinance duties. Due to the space taken up by the power systems for all this, the Mainstay, is incapable of supporting a fighter or bomber, and isn't a particularly stealthy design either.

As a generalist, lighter, warship, the Mainstay is on track to become one of the most widespread designs in Hutt Space, as it's quick to manufacture.

Frigates
(all starships between 200 and 400 meters)

Originally designed and built by RevoGalactic, before it was brought under the Rothana Heavy Engineering banner, the Murishani is one of the most prolific military designs in the Cartel Fleet. The long frigate's profile is dominated by two massive missile/engine pods which give the ship great versatility. Depending on the missile load out, it can act as either an anti-capital platform, or an anti-starfighter platform. The standard concussion missiles are capable of being swapped out for more expensive variants such as the famed diamond-boron tipped designs. The ship can carry enough additional missiles to allow it to completely reload twice, although this can be extended to three reloads at the expense of cargo and support craft.

The entire engine/missile pods which sit on both sides of the main hull can be detached in case of catastrophic failure, and rotated 360 degress giving the Murishani unparalleled maneuverability, even if its top speed leaves a lot to be desired. The Murishani typically travel in pairs while on patrol, allowing them to open up a devastating barrage on any who threaten the Cartel's interests, and also act as escorts for merchantmen convoys that have paid for protection, and for larger Hutt warships.

Corvettes
(all starships between 100 and 200 meters)

A redesign of the ancient Crusader Gunship, every aspect of the Mark VI has seen an extensive overhaul, though the overall structure and appearance has remained very much the same. While the stock model is equipped with ten unarmed escape pods, Crusaders sold to the Hutts are outfitted with armed escape pods. While attached, the light laser cannons on each escape pod are linked to the ship's weapon capacitor and targeting computer.

The Cartel version of the Crusader has been further modified, removing the turbolasers, and replacing them with heavy laser cannons, and modifying the existing light laser cannons. The ship is now a much more dedicated anti-starfighter platform.

Starfighters and Bombers

The J-22 Rho was designed by a Praxus-Pondervan team that had been politely told to go work for Rothana Heavy Engineering to form the core of the renewed Shipwright's starfighter division. The Rho features a design reminiscent of Clone Wars era fighters, and incorporates lessons learned from Praxus starfighter designs. Small, the Rho boasts a decent amount of firepower, light shielding, and fast engines. The ship is designed to be able to handle any job thrown at it. Interception, light bombing, ground support, reconnaissance, and so.

It won't do any of these jobs as well ships dedicated to such roles, but it gets the job done on a cost effective platform. The ship is incredibly durable, in the sense that it's a rugged starfighter that has little maintenance costs, and is considered to repair when damaged. The Rho has already entered full production, and has replaced the previous mishmash of Chiss, Mandalmotors, RevoGalactic, and Independent Starfighter designs that made maintenance and upkeep a nightmare.

With speed rivaled only by its deadliness, the F-4 Starfighter has raised the bar for starfighter manufacturers around the galaxy. For starters, the "Devil Fox" is fast. That's pretty clear. What may be a bit of a surprise is the agility it brings along with it. The easily-recognizable loop-wings are the reason behind this. The entire loop is, essentially, one big repulsor, though it's actually four-linked repulsor units. Also, if the amazing maneuverability that comes from that isn't enough, there are four chemical thrusters placed around the wings that can be used to literally blast the starfighter into a different part of space almost instantaneously.

Of course, what would a starfighter be without the ability to actually fight? The F-4's teeth and claws are a pair of rapid-firing laser Gatling cannons and a concussion missile launcher. In short, the "Devil Fox" is quick, agile, and packs a punch. The interceptor has thus far only been deployed in a limited fashion throughout Cartel Space, and is mostly reserved for larger capital ships that need the extra protection against bombers.

DESCRIPTION

Built in the restored shipyards around Rothana, the Clawcat is the first starfighter with bomber/support capabilities. For starters, it's tough. How tough? Tough enough to be missing an engine and two of its three crew areas and still return to its hangar in one piece. Like the Y-Wings of old, the Clawcat is built to withstand a tremendous beating even after its rather powerful shielding fails. The key to this? Alusteel armor plating and frame. The downside is that it's slower than freighters twice its size. That doesn't mean it's not maneuverable, though. The designers were keen to allow the Clawcat to defend itself against starfighters, so its repulsors are a bit larger than most bombers to allow it to turn better than its size might suggest

Still, like all strike craft, it's real worth comes from its vast array of weaponry. The ship requires three crew-members to operate effectively because of this little fact (pilot, gunner, and bombardier). Between the heavy lasers, the torpedo launchers, and the bomb bay, there are few targets that a Clawcat can't cause damage to. Of course, there are downsides to having so much weaponry such as the crew having to bring their own life-support kits (similar to TIE Pilots) and boasting no hyperspace capability. Still, complete with both offense and defensive arms, the Clawcat is sure to strike fear in the hearts of whoever enters its sights.

KAJIDIC FLEETS
The fleets of the major Hutt clans form the backbone of the Hutt's vast merchant, smuggling, and pirate forces. The forces act as a reserve to the Defense fleet, patrolling areas they can't, handling the supply of Hutt outposts, and can be further mobilized in times of war. Of course the first job of these fleets is for them to make money, for their respective Kajidics and the Cartel as a whole. It's not uncommon to find Hutt ships hauling everything from spice to slaves to and fro through the galaxy. The main operations of the Kajidic Fleets are of course in Hutt space, but as commerce is a galaxy wide concern, they can also be found traveling to major hubs outside of Cartel space as well. The designs utilized by the Kajidic Fleets tend to be more civilian, with military vessels being the rare exception. The largest ships they possess are little more than freighters, with some hasty modifications to make them more suitable for the Hutt's smuggling activities.

The Kajidic Fleets represent the bulk of the Cartel's Navy, and while they might unite in times of war, they are fiercely competitive between each other. While the Cartel Defense Force is responsible for the maintenance of most of the space stations, and commerce platforms, the Kajidic fleets tend to be the ones that are stationed with them more often than not. Especially in space further away from the Imperium's border, where major trade routes run. In the wider galaxy the ship's of the Kajidic's merchant fleets operate under the legitimate banner of the Baobab Merchant Fleet, a scheme operated by the Cartel as a whole that allows each Kajidic to ply its goods in the wider galaxy under a "respectable" name. This air of legitimacy allows the Cartel to move its illicit goods in bulk, and keep in touch with more far flung operations in the galaxy, such as those on Zonju.

Warships
(all combat starships larger than 100 meters)

The aged Corona-K's were retired from active service in many space forces before the Sith even took power over the Imperium. Many still existed in the hands of pirates, backwater defense fleets, and second-hand sale yards, from which the Hutts would acquire their current fleet of these vessels. Purchased to help shore up defenses after the destruction of many Chiss-built vessels, the Corona-K was pressed into service for use by the pirates employed by the Cartel. The ship is designed to quickly swoop in, confuse a target with sensor jammers and decoys, overwhelm them with ion cannon fire and proton torpedoes, rake them with additional ion fire, lasers, and then get out as quick as possible.

While fast, the Corona is only in the middle of the pack in terms of maneuverability, but are very quick to accelerate to full speed for a ship of its size. The ship is often the most seen of any warship outside Hutt Space, acting as a pirate vessel, and capable of operating independently for long periods of time.

DESCRIPTION

A vessel that came stock with heavy shielding, a thick hull, and two industrial grade laser drills, the Dolabra was the perfect candidate to be outfitted as a warship. With the addition of turbolasers and proton torpedo launchers attached at the wings, it became a formidable opponent, though speed would always be an issue. The ship is an especially common site in systems that have heavy mining activity, where it doesn't stand out so much, and it can be put to work as a mining vessel as well.

Bulk Freighters & Transports
(all freighters & transports larger than 100 meters)

Why waste time trying to reinvent the wheel when there's already a perfectly good hull design that fits your needs? That was the thinking behind the Pelta-2. The basic design shares much in common with its Clone Wars era predecessor, but with a vastly different layout. The forward area of the ship now houses a large bridge area, while the command towards the rear has been turned into a command center for the ship's guns, and communications systems. The interior is largely modular, with most of the space by default belonging to the cargo bays. The interior of the bays are coated with durinium, so as to hide their contents from ship's sensors, and the reason for it being on the inside of the bay's only is so that it doesn't appear as though massive chunks of the ship are simply missing.

The Pelta-2 is endlessly modular, capable of acting as a bulk freighter, passenger transport, mobile drug lab, slave runner, troop transport, supply vessel, or whatever else the Hutts require. Often referred to as a "Cartel Blockade Runner" the ship is armed with heavy ion cannons, mounted with two laser cannons apiece, in sponsons on the port and starboard sides of the front of the vessel. The ion cannons help allow the Pelta-2 to punch through blockades, and its shroud launchers help to ensure it doesn't caught up by any tractor beams whilst trying to do so. The ship also has 4 dual laser cannon turrets mounted on the ventral and dorsal sections of the wing hinges, for defense against starfighters. The ship comes equipped standard with an ST box that allows it to mask its transponder, and appear as a more legitimate vessel in systems not friendly to the Cartel.

The Yatuka is a relatively simple design. A straight forward freighter, with 8 pods that can hold a great deal of cargo, the ship is the typical freighter plying the hyperspace lines. The only real special feature of the ship, is its ability to modify its cargo pods into ad hoc hangars for a pair of fighters per a pod. The pods are big enough to hold all the equipment, and facilities needs for the maintenance of the fighters. With their own power generators, the pods can be detached and function for a few days independently, allowing the leave them behind to harass an enemy force.

The Yatuka has a more advanced sensor array allowing it, and its complement, to act as an ad hoc system patrol ship when needed. The ship isn't that fast, or particularly maneuverable, but has good acceleration, and tough shields.

The Doma toma is a large mining vessel, originally built by RevoGalactic, and today produced by Rothana Heavy Engineering which absorbed the other shipwright. Equipped with heavy mining lasers (7 turreted on either side of the main hull), heavy armor, and heavy shields, the Doma toma is well suited to moving into crowded asteroid fields to conduct its work. Its pressor, and tractor beam generators (two mounted on either side of the main hull in both cases) allow it move smaller rocks around with ease, and bring them into range of the ship. The off board nacelles on starboard and port sides of the ship house the fusion cutters (12 each), and the majority of mining equipped. The nacelle is essentially the main mining platform, allowing work to be done a safe distance from the main hull of the ship. The ships sensors are fairly standard, with specialized equipment for ore detection, but the navigation systems are more advanced than average to allow the Doma toma to maneuver through crowded asteroid fields with ease.

These traits that make it a good mining ship in turn make it a good pirate vessel in its own. Any ship it can overtake, it can then tractor beam, and start cutting into the hull of. The off board nacelles in turn reduce the risk of the ship being counter board as the nacelle are easily detached in dangerous scenarios (such as if the ship is attached to the side of a rock containing volatile materials that are at risk of exploding), and access from then into the main hull is tight, and not easy to get through in the first place. The ship's armament of heavy lasers for drilling asteroids are just as effective at drilling into the sides of ships, making the Doma toma a decent system patrol vessel when it isn't mining, carrying cargo, or pirating.

A modified take on an Action-series transport, sometimes known as an "Interceptor", this ship design is infamous as a pirate vessel. The specific Action-series matters very little, as each is essentially chopped up, and rebuilt to serve as fast transport, or patrol ship. With a heavy armament of missiles, and torpedoes, the standard operating procedure for the modified Action's is to drop out of hyperspace, and quickly overpower a target. Fast enough to leave heavier capital ships in the dust, the modified Action's are quick marauders. Heavy shields are the only real thing protecting it however, as the ship sacrifices heavier armor for speed and weapon's emplacements.

The ship is also used for the transport of goods, and system patrol in outlying areas of Cartel Space, but in these capacities it isn't quite as notorious.

DESCRIPTION

The Rendili SpaceGun was originally part of an exclusive military contract, which fell through when the buyer disappeared mysteriously and his corporation was forced into bankruptcy by some unknown entity. Before Rendili StarDrive could decide what to do with the unclaimed order, a representative from the Hutt Cartel arrived with an offer they couldn't refuse.

Though the SpaceGuns were never intended for ship-to-ship engagements, the Cartel has used a great number of these craft as pack-hunters, relying on their superior numbers to seek out and overwhelm much larger prey. Despite their slow speed and poor maneuverability, they have performed this duty surprisingly well. This can be attributed to their powerful main gun, frigate-grade shielding, and thick armor plating. Even so, they are no replacement for a dedicated warship and far better suited as a ground emplacement.

The Lyran-class light freighter is a new design by Rothana put forth as an attempt to break into the lucrative market. As far as light freighters go, the Lyran isn't anything new, or especially exciting on the surface. The engine configuration is a bit odd, compared to the standard, with a "puller" engine in the front of the ship, that sits below the rest of the main hull, but even this isn't so odd. But as a starship built by a corporation backed by the galaxy's largest criminal enterprise, it can hardly be expected that the Lyran would be just another stock light freighter.

Instead many of these ships come out of the factories with modifications already made to them, for smugglers. Durinium smuggling compartments, an ST box, voice printed navicomputer, and shroud launcher are all systems installed on Lyrans purchased by the Cartel, and the Kajidics, but not listed in any official description of the ship. In addition, the ship is easy to modify further, allowing the individual smuggler, or owner, to modify the layout of the smuggling compartments more to their liking, along with just about everything else inside the ship.

In terms of weaponry, the Lyran has two dual light laser cannons mounted towards the center of the ship on the dorsal and ventral sides, and a pair of heavy laser cannons mounted on the port side, and fixed firing forward. In both cases, the Lyran is designed to fire fast, and contend more with starfighters, and ships of its own size rather than capital ships. The layout inside the ship is very configurable, but usually includes a medical bay, cargo area, and accommodations for the crew and passengers. The bridge is also located towards the center of the ship, with the laser turrets above and below it. Access to the ship is granted by the usual boarding ramp, below the side docking ring, and a "groundbuzzer" blaster cannon is nearby to defend the ship from intruders.

The Halo series of gunships takes its name from a more reputable member of a similar class of ships in use during the Clone Wars. The gunship is intended to act as a standard patrol ship, and to be utilized by bounty hunters in the employ of the Cartel and the Kajidics. Quick, well armed, and armored, the Halo is a well rounded design, using its speed and brute force to get the job done. The ship is equipped with a single heavy laser cannon turret for anti-starfighter purposes, and a pair of dual blaster cannon turrets for anti-ground purposes.

The Halo's engine units can rotate a full 360 degrees, giving it excellent maneuverability. The capacity for holding additional personnel or cargo is somewhat limited compared to other gunship designs, such as the age old LAAT/i, but the Halo is equipped with a hyperdrive unit, giving it greater range to conduct operations. The ship comes equipped with a single force cage for holding a bounty or prisoner, although an additional 4 can be installed at the expense of the cargo and passenger capacity.

Created as a successor to the famous Copperhead that saw service in the Ona'bak Retrade, the Cottonmouth is a smaller shuttle, but keeps true to the basic design philosophies of its larger cousin. Heavy armer, heavy shields, and a sturdy frame, the Cottonmouth is designed to be tough, and well equipped to land and takeoff in a variety of hostile environments. The intended customers of the design are mercenary groups, and as such the Cottonmouth is capable of quickly dropping off, and picking up personnel. Equipment within the shuttle allows for ascension guns to easily be mounted, and hardpoints allow for them to in turn easily hook on to bars on the inside.

Though extremely tough, the Cottonmouth is also on the slower end by galactic standards, and doesn't quite share the maneuverability of the Copperhead. The armament is also not as heavy, with only a single rotary laser gun mounted on the front, and a pair of concussion missile launcher pods on either side. The cottonmouth does however, have increased cargo capacity allowing it to bused in such roles as well, and the shuttle can carry some of the largest ground vehicles in the Cartel's arsenal making it a valuable dropship during conflicts.

Starfighters and Bombers

Since the end of the Clone Wars every power has realized that Droid Starfighters would always be inferior to those piloted by sentient beings, in spite of the many advantages they provided. But that doesn't mean they are completely useless, and the Mikiyuna strives to capitalize on one of the greatest advantages of a droid starfighter; cheapness. The Mikiyuna can be produced for a fraction of what a full starfighter would cost. The Nightblind sensor jammer is easily the most expensive piece of equipment on it, and is central to its role. The Mikiyuna is intended to draw attention to itself, while at the same time masking the presence of any craft nearby. A squadron of these craft can appear as a much larger threat as a result, and in swarms the Mikiyuna will simply overwhelm and distract point defenses and enemy fighter formations, greatly extending the survivability of other vessels.

The expendable nature of the Mikiyuna means commanders will often simply order them to make straight forward suicide runs, providing an extra punch to any bomber craft they are escorting in. The rudimentary nature of the default droid brain makes using them in complex maneuvers difficult. A more advanced droid brain is available for a large price increase, and given their expendable nature many who purchase them in bulk opt not to spring for this upgrade. Since the absorption of RevoGalactic into Rothana Heavy Engineering, production of the Mikiyuna has only increased, and the starfighter is now quite common amongst the Kajidic Fleets (and some of the less important Cartel Fleet formations) as a cheap, and expendable form of defense.

INDEPENDENT PURCHASES
The following vessels have been purchased from Independent Factions by the Cartel, or were previously a part of the Ona'bak Retrade, and became a part of the Cartel Navy when that organization was folded into it.

Campaigned by Addipos the Hutt and spearheaded by K, the Aether Project was created to advance the Galactic Traders Coalition power, to continue past the five gargantuan Deep Space Centers. Whereas the latter hold large size and near-immobile, the Aether Project focused on mobility. In the original plans, the Cockaigne-class dreadnought was to dually serve as a flagship for the GTC navy, but the idea was scrapped; however, many of the defenses remained for construction, allowing it to help protect any DSCs if ever attacked.

In 1,014 ABY, Addipos the Hutt secured full control over Gambler's Utopia for the Hutt Cartel through bribery, blackmail, and extortion. It has been transformed into a public front for Hutt Cartel business outside Hutt Space. As a means to attempt to facilitate a workable union between the Kajidics, Gambler's Utopia was declared neutral to the different Kajidics. Each could operate on Gambler's Utopia as long as they did not attack each other.

Under Cartel control, Gambler's Utopia serves as a mobile trade platform, and shadowport. Some of its sectors are off-limits to the majority of visitors. The reason for this is because of illegal business that takes place on the dreadnought, specifically Cartel business. It includes quarters and training areas for members. It is guarded by a legion known as "Mastema". Whereas the DSCs held the unique "Aegis" Protocol, the Cockaigne-class was equipped with the "Tetris" Protocol, where the sections of the ship separate into numerous quasi-hyperspace-worthy pieces (though cannot travel far) and allows to quarantine areas, including for the prevention of spreading damage.

The ship is only lightly armed, and has a single wing of starfighters for defense. The wing consists of 5 squadrons of Nimbus Interceptors, and one squadron of ARC-360s.

The original Gambler's Utopia was written by Dmitri.

NOTE: Numbers are only provided in depth for vessels of a Heavy Cruiser or larger make under the Anaxes War College System, in order to keep things condensed and provide a level of flexibility for space based PvP activities.

Covering grid squares R-9, S-9, R-10, S-10, T-10, and U-10 is the Kossak Fleet, the most military of all the Hutt Fleets.

Each individual Battlegroup in the Fleet is responsible for patrolling, and safeguarding the galactic grid square as it's home anchorage. The heavier vessels of Kossak Fleet tend to patrol less often than other fleets, as they stay near their anchorages, both to act as a concentrated force against possible Sith aggression, and to ensure that the Cartel does not actively provoke it by sending Heavy Cruiser's and larger out for every minor problem. Security has tightened in the wake of the Battle of Naboo, and Kossak Fleet is currently on high alert to ensure that other insurgent or rebellious forces don't just march through the region to attack the Imperium.

Battlegroup Alee typically only has 1 Keldabe-class Battleship, or Delta-Class Star Destroyer on active patrol at a time, due largely to the minimal size of the region it covers. Battlegroup Alee's primary purpose is to remain on high alert, and act to reinforce other portions of Kossak Fleet that might come under attack.

Battlegroup Klatooine typically has 4 (roughly a quarter) of it's vessels on patrol at any given time. These are typically Keldabe-class Battleship's, and the patrol is active enough to ensure that there is usually 1 of them on station at Cyborrea, and Nimia in particular.

Battlegroup Chalacta also typically has 4 of it's Keldabe-class Battleship's on patrol at any given time. The patrol tempo is active enough th ensure that there is at 1 of these Heavy Cruiser's at Kwenn, and Nar Bo Sholla.

Battlegroup Sleheyron typically does not patrol its local grid square, but instead leaves that task to Battlegroup Moralan. This is due to the strategic importance of Sleheyron, with its location at the crossroads of major hyperspace routes and the only major obstacle before the Bootana Hutta, and the tibanna refineries located there.

Battlegroup Moralan typically has all of its Keldabe-class Battleship's, and Delta-Class Star Destroyer's on patrol as it covers its own region, and Sleheryon's. The patrol tempo is high enough for one of each to be on station at Ulmatra, and Nimban together at any given time.

The Fleet Headquarters, and Main Anchorage are at Sleheyron, and all the anchorages are typical places that the various ship's of the Battlegroup's patrol between as they relieve of other ship's of a similar size and make, allowing them to return to Sleheyron for upkeep.

The standard escort for a Heavy Cruiser, or larger, on patrol is 2 Mainstay-class Light Cruisers, 2 Murishani-class Frigates, and 4 Crusader-class Gunship's. These types of units are referred to as heavy patrol's.

A light patrol consists of 1 Mainstay-class Light Cruiser, 1 Murishani-class Frigate, and 2 Crusader-class Gunships. These patrols are much more common, and typically found in all systems in the area that falls under the domain of Kossak Fleet.

The Dirha, Nar Kreeta, Nar Bo Sholla, and Ulmatra Systems each have a Raid Station, and a Star Trench.

The GRVS-DSSCD communications system is used in the region at Alee, Klatooine, Chalacta, Sleheyron, and Moralan.

Covering grid squares R-11, S-11, T-11, and U-11 is the Churabba Fleet. Composed of 4 Battlegroups, Churabba is smaller than the Kossak Fleet, but almost as heavily militarized as over half of its patrol area includes galactic grid squares which border the Imperium.

Each individual Battlegroup in the Fleet is responsible for patrolling, and safeguarding the galactic grid square as it's home anchorage. The heavier vessels of Churabba Fleet tend to patrol very actively, as the region is home to a number of economically important worlds, and also shares borders with the Imperium. Security has tightened in the wake of the Battle of Naboo, and Churabba Fleet is currently on high alert to ensure that other insurgent or rebellious forces don't just march through the region to attack the Imperium.

Battlegroup Toydaria typically has 8 (just over half) of it's vessels on patrol at any given time. These are typically Keldabe-class Battleship's, and the patrol is active enough to ensure that there is usually 1 of them on station at Tol Amn, and Kleeva in particular.

Battlegroup Varl typically has all of its Keldabe-class Battleship's, and Delta-Class Star Destroyer's on patrol as it covers two important hyperspace lanes that connect with Nal Hutta. The patrol tempo is high enough for one of each to be on station at Irith, and Du Hutta together at any given time.

Battlegroup Saqqar typically has 4 (roughly a quarter) of it's vessels on patrol at any given time. These are typically Keldabe-class Battleship's, and the patrol is active enough to ensure that there is usually 1 of them on station at the Godsheart, and M'Hanna in particular. The primary purpose of the Battlegroup however is to act as a strategic reserve for either Battlegroup Moralan, or Battlegroup Aduba in the event of attack. Battlegroup Saqqar is currently on high alert, ready to move out save for those vessels on patrol, in the wake of the Battle of Naboo.

Battlegroup Aduba typically only has 1 Keldabe-class Battleship, or Delta-Class Star Destroyer on active patrol at a time, due largely to the need to stay on high alert for possible Sith Invasion coming down the Triellus Trade Route.

The Fleet Headquarters, and Main Anchorage are at Toydaria, and all the anchorages are typical places that the various ship's of the Battlegroup's patrol between as they relieve of other ship's of a similar size and make, allowing them to return to Toydaria for upkeep.

The standard escort for a Heavy Cruiser, or larger, on patrol is 2 Murishani-class Frigates, 2 Corona-K-class Fast Frigates and 2 Crusader-class Gunships. These types of units are referred to as heavy patrol's.

A light patrol consists of 1 Murishani-class Frigate, 1 Corona-K-class Fast Frigate, and 2 Crusader-class Gunships. These patrols are much more common, and typically found in all systems in the area that falls under the domain of Churabba Fleet.

The smallest of the Hutt Fleets, the Garden Fleet is dedicated to safeguarding the region of the Bootana Hutta, and the Hutt Throneworlds in the region. The Bootana Hutta sits in between the areas patrolled by the Kossak and Churabba Fleets, but is typically not called upon to support either in any scenario, as that would compromise the defense of the region.

None of the Battlegroups patrol with vessels of a Heavy Cruiser, or larger, make. Instead these vessels remain at their home anchorages to defend the entrances to the Bootana Hutta.

A light patrol consists of 1 Mainstay-class Light Cruiser, and 2 Murishani-class Frigates. These patrols are very common, and typically found in all systems in the area that falls under the domain of the Garden Fleet.

Covering grid squares Q-12, R-12, S-12, T-12, and U-12 is the Ardustagg Fleet. Composed of 5 Battlegroups, Ardustagg is generally oriented coreward, focused on the defense of the border with the Imperium, and the Y'toub System.

Each individual Battlegroup in the Fleet is responsible for patrolling, and safeguarding the galactic grid square as it's home anchorage. The heavier vessels of Ardustagg Fleet tend to patrol with great regularity due to the many trade routes, and economically important worlds in the region.

Battlegroup Daalang typically has 4 (roughly a quarter) of it's vessels on patrol at any given time. These are typically Keldabe-class Battleship's, and the patrol is active enough to ensure that there is usually 1 of them on station at Nanth'ri, and Nixor in particular.

Battlegroup Jilrua typically has 5 (half) of it's vessels on patrol at any given time. These are typically Keldabe-class Battleship's, and 1 Delta-class Star Destroyer that remains on station in the Ganath System to safeguard the shipyards there.

Battlegroup Nal Hutta typically has 4 (roughly a quarter) of it's vessels on patrol at any given time. These are typically Keldabe-class Battleship's, and the patrol is active enough to ensure that there is usually 1 of them on station at Circumtore, and Hollastin in particular.

Battlegroup Ylesia typically has 4 (all but 1) of it's vessels on patrol at any given time. These are typically Keldabe-class Battleship's, and the patrol is active enough to ensure that there is usually 1 of them on station at Ziugen, and Riileb in particular.

Battlegroup Teth typically has 4 (just under half) of it's vessels on patrol at any given time. These are typically Keldabe-class Battleship's, and the patrol is active enough to ensure that there is usually 1 of them on station at Barab, and Dilbana in particular. For the most part though, Battlegroup Teth stays near Teth in order to safeguard the shipyards there.

The Fleet Headquarters, and Main Anchorage are at Nal Hutta, and all the anchorages are typical places that the various ship's of the Battlegroup's patrol between as they relieve of other ship's of a similar size and make, allowing them to return to Nal Hutta for upkeep.

The standard escort for a Heavy Cruiser, or larger, on patrol is 1 Modified Dolabra-class Mining Barge, 2 Corona-K-class Fast Frigates, and 4 Modified Action-series Transports. These types of units are referred to as heavy patrol's.

A light patrol consists of 1 Corona-K-class Fast Frigate, and 2 Modified Action-series Transports. These patrols are much more common, and typically found in all systems in the area that falls under the domain of Ardustagg Fleet.

The Nixor, Poytta, and Circumtore Systems each have a Raid Station, and a Star Trench.

Covering grid squares R-13, S-13, T-13, and U-13 is the Velrugha Fleet. Composed of 4 Battlegroups, Velrugha is the smallest of the traditional Hutt Fleets, and contains no ships larger than a Delta-class Star Destroyer. Each individual Battlegroup in the Fleet is responsible for patrolling, and safeguarding the galactic grid square as it's home anchorage. It's main goal is to act as a reserve, and with the exception of Battlegroup Lannik, is considered something of a backwater, being stuck between more important areas.

Battlegroup Lannik is the largest Battlegroup in the fleet, and is intended to keep an eye on the Bothans, and to counter any aggressive moves they might make towards Hutt Space. Half the battlegroup (5 ships) are typically on patrol at any given moment. These ships are typically Keldabe-class Battleships.

Battlegroup Xolu typically has 2 of it's Keldabe-class Battleships on patrol at any given time. The patrol is active enough to ensure that there is usually 1 of them on station at Nar Kaaga in particular.

Battlegroup Unagin typically has 2 of it's Keldabe-class Battleships on patrol at any given time. The patrol is active enough to ensure that there is usually 1 of them on station at Arami in particular.

Battlegroup Daluuj typically only has 1 Keldabe-class Battleship on active patrol at a time. The Battlegroup is primarily intended as a reserve to reinforce other Fleets or Battlegroups during an attack, and remains on alert to begin moving to other sections of Hutt Space at any time.

The Fleet Headquarters, and Main Anchorage are at Lannik, and all the anchorages are typical places that the various ship's of the Battlegroup's patrol between as they relieve of other ship's of a similar size and make, allowing them to return to Lannik for upkeep.

The standard escort for a Heavy Cruiser, or larger, on patrol is 2 Modified Dolabra-class Mining Barges, and 2 Doma toma-class Mining Freighters.

A light patrol consists of 2 Modified Dolabra-class Mining Barges, and 2 Doma toma-class Mining Freighters. These patrols are much more common, and typically found in all systems in the area that falls under the domain of Velrugha Fleet.

The Syvris, and Dubrava Systems each have a Raid Station, and a Star Trench.

Covering grid squares R-14, S-14, T-14, U-14, S-15, and T-15 is the Zodoh Fleet. Composed of 6 Battlegroups, Zodoh covers the largest area of the Hutt Fleets, and second only to Kossak in terms of absolute size, though it does not feature as many military designs below the size of a Heavy Cruiser. Each individual Battlegroup in the Fleet is responsible for patrolling, and safeguarding the galactic grid square as it's home anchorage.

Battlegroup Manda is primarily deployed in the Manda System itself, to safeguard from the troubles emanating from Roon, and the fact that the Manda-Roon Hyerpspace Route provides a fast track for the invasion of Hutt Space. Over half the Battlegroup is typically on patrol at any given time, typically a Keldabe-class Battleship, and 1 of the Delta-class Star Destroyers is permanently deployed in the Holess System to safeguard the shipyards there along with a standard patrol escort.

Battlegroup Kemix is often very busy patrolling the area near the Bothan border. At any given time all of the Keldabe-class Battleships are on patrol. These patrols are active enough to ensure that there is usually 1 of them on station at Kolanda Station, and Argovia in particular.

Battlegroup Gamorr typically only has 1 Keldabe-class Battleship on active patrol at a time. The Battlegroup is primarily intended as a reserve to reinforce other Fleets or Battlegroups during an attack, and remains on alert to begin moving to other sections of Hutt Space at any time.

Battlegroup Shola typically only has 1 Keldabe-class Battleship on active patrol at a time. The Battlegroup is primarily intended as a reserve to reinforce other Fleets or Battlegroups during an attack, and remains on alert to begin moving to other sections of Hutt Space at any time.

Battlegroup Rishi typically patrols the local grid sector lightly, and at any given time 5 Keldabe-class Battleships (roughly 1/3 of the Battlegroup) are on patrol. The tempo of patrol is high enough to ensure that at least one is on station at Molovar at any given time. At least 1 Delta-class Star Destroyer is likewise deployed on a permanent basis to Kamino to safeguard the critical planet.

Battlegroup Rothana typically does not patrol all that much, but instead stays near the Shipyards at Rothana on extremely high alert due to their being the most important shipyards in Hutt Space. No one wants to see a Mandalorian fleet randomly show up, and declare ownership without a fight again. A lack of planets worth the expense of sending a Heavy Cruiser or larger to defend them also contributes to this.

The Fleet Headquarters, and Main Anchorage are at Rothana, and all the anchorages are typical places that the various ship's of the Battlegroup's patrol between as they relieve of other ship's of a similar size and make, allowing them to return to Rothana for upkeep.

The standard escort for a Heavy Cruiser, or larger, on patrol is 4 Pelta-2-class Freighters, 2 Yatuka-class Container Haulers, and 2 Modified Action-series Transports

A light patrol consists of 2 Pelta-2-class Freighters, 2 Yatuka-class Container Haulers. These patrols are much more common, and typically found in all systems in the area that falls under the domain of Zodoh Fleet.

The Kolanda Station, Molovar, Kamino, and Lyran Systems each have a Raid Station, and a Star Trench.
