[Vanya]

Vanya was torn on what to do. She wanted to keep going and find whatever they weren't supposed to find, but she also didn't want to risk Theia. It was... precarious. But Jedi Padawans had been in danger all down through history, hadn't they? It was part of the danger of being a Jedi.

Fine, we press on. But you need to be careful, she said with a nod as if that would somehow make things solid and infallible.

They pressed onward through the halls until they reached a small room deep within the temple. A cut off recess that despite the darkness around them still radiated with a point of light. In the center of it, there was a Light presence that almost felt like it lingered in this place.

To defeat the darkness, you need to find the Light. The Light has power all its own, a voice said, barely a whisper.

 

[Theia Durand]

Theia was ready to pounce with another argument if Vanya didn't agree to come with, or she was just going to carry on whether or not the Jedi Knight said it was okay - Theia was certain she could outrun her. However, when Vanya agreed to carry onward with the padawan, Theia had to bite her lip from letting out a yell of excitement while internally dancing to an imaginary victory song. "I'll be careful." and the girl was serious about it, there was no way she was going to let another creepy creature take over her mind. Despite the questions she had of its existence and how it was even able to do that, she decided she could in the very least put up a bigger fight.

As they proceeded, Theia stayed closer to Vanya; the young jedi seemed almost too vigilant as she nearly paused at every odd sound she heard before quickly catching up with Vanya. Though the further they went, Theia wondered if there was anything that was being protected or if this place was just cursed in its entirety. However, there was a familiar warmth that came from a small room before them; Theia thought her eyes were playing tricks when she saw the light and she nearly jumped out of her boots when the voice rang out about the light. Unlike the dark creature from earlier, this was more welcoming, less invasive and the red headed jedi felt a sense of curiosity to its message.

"Should we touch it..." Theia mostly guessed, uncertain of what she would physically touch, but in her lessons there was lots of talk of reaching out and touching it...mentally...meta-physically? Theia wasn't too sure, but she understood that meaning nonetheless. "It feels so different here." Theia observed out loud.

[Vanya]

Vanya wasn't sure if they should touch it, but she was going to guess "yes." They had come this far and unless this was all just a trick, she was assuming the light wasn't trying to destroy the two of them, and she reached out to it.

The moment her fingers touched the threshold, they were both consumed in a warmth like a heated blanket on a cold day. It wrapped them up and invited them into its peace and Vanya could feel the tension and fear leaving her body.

This holocron can drive back the darkness. Unleash my power here and purge this place of evil, then take the power of the holocron on to the rest of the galaxy, the voice said.

Vanya knew that despite not knowing who the voice was, it was Jedi in origin. Perhaps not an orthodox Jedi, but one who could help them drive back the evil that now plagued the galaxy.

[Theia Durand]

Theia wouldn't admit out loud, but the compulsion to touch it even if it wasn't in their best interest was a compelling urge to give into as Vanya pondered on their choice. However, something deep inside her gut said it would be okay, and even if it were a trap...perhaps they were best to resolve it so no other jedi came here and found themselves in this circumstance. She stood beside Vanya, reaching outward with her senses and touching the Light as she did; Theia was still new enough to find the warmth surprising, and deep down she hoped it would be a feeling she would never get used to. It was everything she had come to find the light as so, engulfing the two jedi and the voice spoke again.

The padawan didn't want to stop, the warmth was comforting in a temple chilled by the darkness that resided and stalked the halls that surrounded them. She did know though they couldn't leave without laying to rest all the souls that were still trapped by whatever entity kept them here. The images of the trees with the people still locked in an eternity of suffering, their only crime was not having the strength or luck even, that she and Vanya held together.

So, Theia did as the holocron asked; they were the rays of the dawn sun among the inky sea of darkness, laying to rest what truly poisoned the halls of the temple.

[Vanya]

Vanya touched the Light and as she did, it banished the darkness away. The temple seemed to return to its old life in some way, lighting up a blaze of good that had been gone for so long.

As the Light began to fade visibly away and her vision returned to her, she found the holocron in hand. She looked down at it and somehow she knew that whoever the voice had been was the same who had made his holocron.

She knew that whatever secrets lay within may well change the course of the galaxy. She hoped so at least: something to fight back the darkness she so desperately wanted to defeat.

Come on, Theia. Let's go home, she said, smiling and slapping the padawan on the back. Yes, it was a job well done at least.
