HAS-1 Wreath

Description:

Wreath or Heavy Ardent Sprayer (HAS) is a heavy flame projector. Designed from inspirations of the many improvised weapons of the equally numerous wars of Concord Dawn the Wreath is a tool to be reckoned with. It's uses are not just for injuring the enemy. Flames have been used to clear flora in combat zones, deter dangerous fauna and even clean up waste.

The weapon is both large and heavy. Trench warfare occured at times even in the advanced world we have today. Tunnel combat, and other forms of confined hostilities led the Wreath to sometimes be an essential tool. It was desired because it didn't require a backpack mounted fuel tank allowing shock troopers the ability to keep their jetpacks and not be weighed down. However this reduced the ammunition capacity of the weapon but increased reload speed somewhat.

The weapon uses three separate canisters but only pulls from one of them at a time. the size of the weapon makes it heavy and carrying spare ammo also increases the user's weight. This means the weapon is best used for short engagements and quick pushes for ground. The barrel of the weapon does a good job at keeping relatively cool. If the weapon had a higher ammunition capacity it would run the risk of getting to the temperature of injuring the user. This also increases the lifetime of the weapon as a whole and doesn't degrade as severely and require as much maintenance.

The Wreath is capable of one minute of a continual streaming or 60 one second spurts of flame. The ammunition is a mildly napalm based gel. Three separate canisters make up the ammunition, making carrying it somewhat easier to distribute rather than having all the flammable eggs in one basket. Sometimes these were rigged as booby traps in previous wars playing to the versatility of the weapons. Now it allows for reloading in the middle of a battle but still is longer than most conventional weapons requiring the user to safely release each canister separately by unlocking the safety mechanism, removing the canisters, replacing and securing the connection to the weapon.

While there are many custom engineered versions the weapons aren't so much a rarity but rather require attention outside of the battlefield to be maintained as well as sufficient coin to procure ammunition. It is only available to military groups and even then is hard to come by unless one specifically visits traditional mandalorian space.

Intent: more akin to a traditional flame thrower than the small wrist mounted flame projectors. For clearing out vast swaths of enemies or deterring others. We've seen flame troopers and other weapons of the kind so i figured it deserved an actual write up. This will be used in a few specific story points. better for there to be something with a base of information that is regulated than someone needing one and it becoming overpowered just because it was previously not touched upon

How do you quantify a "spurt" of flame? I'm trying to figure out what the ammunition capacity actually means in terms of how you'd use it.

In terms of how long the flames are projected.

Hmm. Ammunition capacity seems a little high, anyway. I'd suggest cutting it by a third. Also keep in mind you're a carrying around three pressurized bombs in your hand, pretty much.

yeah i didn't want it to be risk free, people irl who carried around flame throwers were at risk as well. if it is at 60 then it can basically be fired for a whole minute straight. reload is not meant to be fast but it would be like carrying the equivalent of 3 extra PMDs on you.

@Darasuum

You edited the side panel and not the text, but I really want to watch someone explode themselves in battle with this thing (a very likely outcome in all probability) so I fixed it. Don't ever say I haven't done anything for you. I will collect this debt at a later date.
