This is a Death-Enabled thread, all standard PvP rules apply. 48 hour posting window for each side. The Guardian is a Level 2 Force User adequate in Necromancy and Korriban Magick.

Chambers of Solace lay hidden, deep within catacombs of Vjun and tucked away neatly into mountainous backside. The track towards the opening could only be located by certain artifacts one had to locate on Vjun itself. However, as new lifeforms arrived into proximity the natural defenses of the Tomb came to life. It was rumored that dark force energies circulated through this cathedral, and pulsated with unholy magics. The entrance way was enclosed by two massive doors that despite force powers would be unable to be open. In front of them however, stood a small alter with a porcelain bowl with central drainage into the pillar it stood upon.

It was a sacrificial piece, and the inscribed writing upon the doors would describe its intent. "Only those whose blood permeates with the dark side may gain entry, and gain entry in solitude.."

The Guardian stood in the center room behind the doors, his incorporeal eyes slowly coming to life with a crimson hue and once spirit enchanted body grew heavier with dense mass and solidity. As the Guardian materialized into his full form, it remained prepared for the adventurer coming to claim the artifact. Crimson lightsaber ignited within its right grip and a suffocating veil of force pulsated around its cloaked figure.

Roman had made it this far, no point in turning back now. Little did he know that the most difficult portion of this excursion was about to begin, one in which he would have to place his livelihood at risk in order to achieve success. It was a great sacrifice, but as many have said before, there is no victory without risk.

Knowing that he would have to face judgment alone, he left Armaj and the Imperial troopers behind at the entrance of the Temple. Lone armored figure descended downwards into the catacombs, stepping slowly over torn rubble and cobblestone stairs. Many of which had partially been broken from millennium of non-use, and a single trip could plunge his body into the darkened abyss that stood on either side of him. Roman finally climbed down towards the end, leaping slightly from the last step onto the stone ledge just a meter away. He snarled as he landed with his knee, dust and debris flying into the air and clouding his vision momentarily. He let out a single cough before looking up and moving forwards.

Finally, he reached the sacrifice altar; Roman glanced at the inscription above and slowly removed the cortosis gauntlet on his left hand. Taking a simple dagger from his waistband, he drew a moderate sized incision into his forearm. Wincing at the pain, he held the hand over the bowl and allowed droplets of fresh blood to trickle down into the pillar. The taste of dark sided force powers awakened whatever ancient evil lay dormant, a stirring of several sounds and movements of stone statues could be heard. Lights momentarily dimmed before lighting in a singular array.

The two massive twin doors slowly crept open, revealing a pitch black pathway up ahead. Roman took a cloth to tie around the wound before wrapping it back into his armored gauntlet. Adventuring into the darkness, he finally arrived at what appeared to be a circular arena. The combat quarters, his attention quickly fell on the abomination that was standing approximately 20 meters from him. It was not man or ghost, but rather a blend; its cloaks draped to the ground almost as if it levitated but he knew better and its already prepared saber stance meant that he would have to engage.

Roman spoke no further words, his own red blade igniting into his right hand while the left began to pulsate with the force. He coiled it around himself defensively and began to walk towards his adversary.

The Guardian stood tall but dead still, patiently awaiting his challenger in the combat chambers. The crimson eyes were already directed at the doors, but he would not move until the adversary was approaching. After the sacrifice of the challenger, the Guardian had materialized into its true, imposing, terror-eluciting shape, trails of crimson ichor floating next to him. Before he could spot the approaching opponent, he would ready his lightsaber while getting into a combat-ready stance. Not only the whole chamber, but the Guardian itself was enclosed in an intimidatingly opaque, dark, powerful aura that the opponent wouldn't be able to ignore.

Versed in Korriban Magick, the ancient Guardian would not engage the armored man with his saber first. Instead, the impressive figure remained completely still until it finally hurled a powerful, crimson hex bolt at his adversary. The bolt he shot with his left arm intended to strike his opponent right on the chest, hoping to knock him backwards, so that the Guardian could charge forward next, attempting to strike the suprised challenger. The Guardian was a tall figure, but he didn't lack agility. He approached the Champion faster than expected, so that he wouldn't have much time to prepare for the first attack. He was determined to kill and the unbound bloodlust reflected in his lifeless, sinister glowing eyes.

THEME

There was only the moment..

Everything else could wait. His doubts, his greed, his desires. Opportunity to claim destiny however, would occur only once in a lifetime and this was his moment now.

Roman didn't hesitate before the creature, showing absolute defiance as he pressed off his feet and charged forwards to meet the threat head on. It was his natural instinct, the aggressive and confrontational personality which separated him from so many SIth Champions. Crimson lightsaber twirled in his right grip, coming in a diagonal angle to smash against the red ichor as the hex bolt approached his figure; the saber made contact with the bolt, effectively blocking and dissipating the red mist as a shock traveled up his blade-wielding arm momentarily.

Roman then pivoted off his right foot and slashed horizontally against the Guardian's left to right waistline. The attack interrupted the creature's next anticipated move and even if it did not, the Champions' blade remained in a defensive position until the moment of his offense to block the Guardian's attack should it be reinforced. The ongoing remnants of dark, palpable aura resonated around his armored form, soaking and suffocating a measurable epicenter.

The Guardian was neither a creature to know feeling of fright nor respect. Enemies were no match for the ancient being that was guarding the artifact hidden deeper in the chamber with his life. This meager human concealed behind the durasteel helmet was weak, just like the rest of his species and this man was just about to encounter the pure, unleashed bloodlust of the Guardian.

His crimson, glowing eyes remained fixed on his opponent while he neutralized the concussive, red, ichory blast. While the armored man did that, the Guardian had already closed the distance between them and while he interrupted the following attack, the Guardian was already about to exploit the man's defensive stance that followed. He evaded his horizontal slash by stepping back in the right moment, so that the ignited blade barely grazed his armor on the waistline.

While the adversary had brought his blade to the Guardian's right, he was instantaneously using the advantage of this locked position to attempt to strike a diagonal blow coming from his own upper right. He would bring down his blade on the man's left shoulder, attempting to leave a gaping wound stretching all across his torso, down to his right hip. If the man wouldn't evade the blow, both armor and skin would be slashed open since the Guardian had stepped forward again, also exploiting the advantage of his height to flexibly use the full potential and reach of his outstretched arm.

Roman was quick and strong, using speed and agility over brute power in most of his battles. Which was a good thing, because he knew this corporeal beast had him outmatched when it came to strength. The creatures' blows marked with certain palpable brutality, forcing the ambitious champion to utilize the deepest arches of his own physical endurance to match them. It became less of a fight and more of a dance; a dance with burning blades of crimson fire, shards of heat stemming off as the sabers collided all with that iconic sound of battle.

As the creature backpedaled out of his initial attack, Roman's eyes kept their gaze fixated on his enemy, studying and measuring every move. And so, it was not difficult to surmount a defense as the Guardian came in for his diagonal blow. As Roman's blade had already finished its movements, he kept it in its current position to his left and thus simply flicked his wrist upwards in a defensive block to catch his opponent's saber as it slashed downwards. The saber lock hissing as the two weapons met; his right arm musculature straining as they maintained the blocking hold.

The creature however had exposed a flaw in his maneuvering; as the weapons were locked, the Guardians' blade was caught on top of Roman's. Thus, it left its entire bottom torso vulnerable. In addition, as the Guardian stepped forward to utilize its leverage, it narrowed the melee range between the two fighters and made Roman's next attack that much easier. Roman's free left hand twinkled with shards of blue electricity, as a powerful stream of Force lighting released onto the creature's unprotected chest and leg region. Roman kept a mental note of the two lightsabers' current positions, ensuring that he was ready to defend against the Guardian's next attack.

The meager human still stood zero chances to prevail against the Guardian, but the Sith Champion was admittedly confident, so that the Guardian had not lost his complete fate in those who dared to challenge him. However, he was also certain that he would win this

fight. So far, there had never been an adversary who had proved himself himself worthy of acquiring the artifact and it seemed like this opponent wouldn't be any different...

The way the opponent flicked his wrist to block the strike made the Guardian furious, as he had not expected that he would be so agile. However, the Guardian was stronger than this frail human and so it increased the pressure on the blade, so that the human would have been forced to step back to avoid losing his balance.

However, the Guardian's opponent had decided to plot his counterattack by aiming a Force lightning at his lower body, and so the tall creature was forced to break the contact between both of their blades to flick his own wrist in a counter clockwise movement to avoid the Force lightning with his crimson blade at his lower torso. He defensively shielded himself against the lightning before he would recognize the Champion's disadvantageous, defensive stance with his analytical, lifeless glance.

The Champion had made the mistake of shifting his weight onto his back foot in order to block the Guardian's, strong, diagonal blow and so the vigorous Force push he immediately shot at his upper torso was attempting to throw him off his feet in one quick, unforseen maneuver. His free hand remained behind the blade that was still held in a defense, horizontal position to ensure that he would be prepared for spontaneously react to every counteroffensive, if he would not be thrown on his back anyway.

Autohit applies due to the time out

As agile as the armored Champion had appeared before, he was indeed to slow to see this next move coming. His attempt to hit the Guardian with a Force lightning had apparently cost him too much concentration, so that he was swept away by the Guardian's Force Push with ease, completely knocked off balance, so that the heavy durasteel armor landed on the stone floor with a loud thud.

Without hesitation, the Guardian charged forward swiftly, instantaneously closing the distance between him and his adversary, wanting to use the short time window of his opponent's shock to land his final blow, and so he immediately brought the raised crimson bladed lightsaber vertically down on him in an attempt to bring the saber directly through the Champion's durasteel chest plate and ultimately through his heart. The adversary had to face the huge disadvantage of laying on the ground on his back, being directly attacked from a 90° angle, so that an attempt to block the lightsaber would be a difficult endeavor.

And just like that, a split second can turn the tide of battle as can the smallest mistake.

Initially thinking that perhaps he would use his next move to gain a tactical advantage, Roman found himself in a perilous position. Unable to defend against the force push, his body was hurled into the air and landed onto the ground with an unwelcoming thud. He roared out in pain, a shocking sensation traveled down the length of his spine with the landing. That was unfortunately the least of his worries as the Guardian spared him no mercy and sought to take advantage of this window of opportunity. As the downward stab came, it would have likely been the end of him otherwise.

One second...it wasn't an eternity, but it was enough. Roman's right hand which grasped this own weapon sprang across his chest, blocking the incoming lightsaber blow with the cortosis woven component of his gauntlet. Instead of a lethal blow, splinters of crimson energy burned against the cloth and durasteel of his chestpiece. Force pulsed in the palm of his free hand, and shot outwards as cone of energy to shove the Guardian backwards. The force push was quick and hastily unleashed, it lacked any potential to do damage but it would serve its purpose of putting the two combatants out of melee range. Roman quickly sprang to his feet, keeping his gauntlet and lightsaber in a position to block should the Guardian reinforce his aggression.

Once on his feet, he drew the force closer around him, mind shifting temporarily to defense as he continued to recover from the jarring blow he was dealt earlier.

Since the champion had made a mistake before, the Guardian was entirely sure that he would missstep again and he was just patiently waiting for it to happen. The human had already taken a brute hit and the Guardian was also confident that he would not only outmatch his strength, but also his endurance and so he didn't see the need to finish him off as fast as possible. He could also wear him out slowly, waiting for further mistakes to happen while he would occasionally damage his opponent and force every last drop of blood out of his weak body. His Force Push had hit him, but it was just a comparatively mild shove that only pushed him back a few feet.

The Guardian being a creature that was unable to feel fear was not deterred but his opponent's unbroken spirit. Even he would begin to crumble soon. He was certain of it. Since he hadn't been the one in the disadvantage position on the ground, the Guardian remained in the position of the rather aggressive attacker that was driven by brute force, but he would not make the mistake of doing something imprudent and so instead of charging forward with unleashed powers again, he remained considerate, immediately sending his own Force Push back at the adversary, attempting to still use the moment of his shock and imbalance to knock him right off balance again.

If his immediate reaction succeeded in interrupting his opponent's aim to get back on his feet, he would reinforce his aggressions by jumping right back at him. This time, he was not only bringing down the blade with all his brute strength, but he was also leaping forward, enhancing his blow with his descend onto the ground. If the opponent wouldn't touch the ground, the Guardian would still charge forward, the ignited blade still raised above his head while he would try to strike him from above.

Roman had been outmatched for a majority of this contest, the Guardian's superior force abilities had caused the ambitious Champion to utilize more of his own reserves to maintain competition. However, that did not mean he was in any danger of quitting this match, nor did it mean that he would grant his adversary a victory. While it appeared that their duel would extend, it was paramount in all lightsaber battles that even the slightest mistake and miscalculation could prove fatal.

And thus, Roman thought it did...for his opponent.

The force push caught him just as he was climbing back to his feet, his armored figure being thrown once more backwards. But instead of falling over, Roman braced his weight with a sliding knee onto the cobblestone grounds. It was true that the Guardian was stronger and the forward leaping motion only added more weight into the downwards strike. However, it was this very advantage that Roman sought to exploit with deadly effectiveness.

Force pulsed through his body, pressing him with an upwards lift from his lower extremities...the result was that he sprang into a defensive stance, bringing his own saber to block the incoming blow. The upwards momentum clashed violently with the downwards descent of the Guardian, sabers connecting with a furious display of crimson timbers. Utilizing the pair's momentum in concert, Roman fully took opportunity of their close proximity. With the saber lock engaged and his own blade layered underneath the Guardian's, Roman knew that his opponent's torso and lower body were completely vulnerable.

And so, he sought to to end this here and now...

Roman's free left hand summoned his dagger, the hilt flying into its grasp as he thrust the hand forwards in a singular, seamless motion. Concentrated with strength and focus behind it, he aimed to plunge the weapon into the heart of his enemy.

Even though the Guardian couldn't see the Champion's eyes as they were hidden beneath a thick layer of durasteel armor, the Champion's unrelenting spirit was perceptible. The Guardian had seen weaker contestants before. This one still wanted to fight and apparently his hopes were still high. However, the more he tried, the more fuel he added to the Guardian's raging fire inside. No matter how resourceful this opponent seemed, he'd perish just like the rest and the artifact would remain hidden from sight.

Keeping his lower regions unprotected wasn't a mistake. The Guardian had calculated the risks and anticipated that the meager human would attempt to exploit this apparent missstep and so he was entirely prepared to defend himself against it. In one swift, fluid, yet strong motion his left hand shot down, grabbing the armored figure's wrist and yanking it away, so that the silver bladed dagger could not reach it's target.

However, a searing pain immediately shot trough the Guardian's torso, revealing that the blade had indeed graced his unprotected chest on the side. The tall Guardian let out a loud, deep rumbling growl as a demonstration of his furious discontent while his tight grip around the gauntlet intensified. Simultaneously, he still pressed down the crimson blade from above with all might, even more vigorously than before because the slight cut on his chest only enraged him further.

Without hesitation, he then used this advantageous, stabilized stance to execute his own offense, choosing a fully unconventional, unforseen maneuver that was attempting to fully catch the Champion off guard. While both of his hands remained in their fixed position, preventing the human from moving them without risking to take any damage, he brutally brought forward his own left knee, attempting to slam it right between the Champion's unprotected legs with all his strength. If the strong kick would hit, he was prepared for the final, lethal blow that he would be able to execute if the Champion would be not only distracted, but weakened by the immense pain he wanted to cause. The champion was resourceful, but so was the Guardian and so he was now switching to an even dirtier, blood-thirsty fighting style in this climactic phase of the heated battle.

This was starting to get dirty....

Who would have thought that a fight with a Force Monster would end up similar to a cantina brawl. But the Champion wasn't above fighting dirty, as long as he won in the end.

Roman snarled as his knife missed its lethal point, instead digging into the right torso of his opponent and causing injury. His rage and hatred intensified but in doing so, it gave him clarity and focus. "This is my destiny....I will not be denied!" He roared as the two warriors were engaged in a locked stance. The Champion did know that while the guardian may have avoided death in the last round, he had now caused a miscalculation of his positioning. An error which Roman intended to make fatal....

As the Guardian pushed Roman's arm to its left, Roman simply stepped in with the push using his left leg. This allowed his body to shift towards its left; simultaneously, as his enemy's blade was pushing down with greater force, Roman twirled his own saber in a clockwise motion to slide his opponent's saber away and to its side, allowing it to pass through air in the position where his right shoulder use to be. It didn't require tremendous strength to wield a saber, and slashes were quick and often times effortless if executed properly. Roman was a well trained lightsaber combatant, his proficiency over Form VII and X allowed him to retaliate just as easily.

In a single slash, he stepped even closer to his enemy with planting of his right foot inwards as he brought his saber in an downward angle from the Guardian's left shoulder through the right hip. The attack was quick and seamless in execution. It would interrupt the upcoming knee thrust and even if it did not, Roman's new positioning had placed him such that the knee would smash against his armored chest or the side of his right hip. This would ensure that no follow up attack could be done by the Guardian.

His saber slash was intended to be a lethal, finishing blow; the Guardian had little course of remedy. Its right arm was locked in a downwards motion of its own saber and considering that Roman was now within his guard and too close proximity, there would be little chance to use that to defend. It was also focused on the knee thrust and its left hand was locked on Roman's left wrist. Its forearms bore now lightsaber protection and simply grabbing Roman's right wrist would also not suffice given their closeness as well as trajectory and quickness of the slash.

The Champion bore ferocity and determination on his face, sheer will executing his attack as he intended to end this.

What had started as an honorable lightsaber dance was slowly turning into a dirty mudslinging, but that was just the retaliation for trying to cunningly outwit the Guardian through an ambush with the dagger the champion pulled out of his sleeve. If the Champion wanted to play dirty, that was exactly what he would get...

Their battle had reached its climax. It was now about everything and one of them would drew his last breaths in this exact moment. The Guardian was determined and bloodthirsty and he would do everything he could to end his opponent's life right now. He was aware of the fact that every misplaced step could result in a lethal mistake and so his full attention laid on their fight. Even though he was enraged, he didn't let the wrath blind him.

As the human roared something about destiny, a deep, rumbling laughter escaped the tall creature that was still willing to slice the meager Champion open like his durasteel armor was nothing but some sort of ridiculous decoration. The thought that the Champion's slit torso, same as his crushed bones would make some fancy embellishments themselves amused him strongly. Perhaps he would even use the human's dry bled bowels to garnish the chamber's entrance in order to deter the next contestants before they would even make it inside to face the Guardian. He looked forward to licking his adversary's blood of his materialized hand and he would savor every last drop.

When his enemy pivoted his hip to his left, the knee didn't hit it's target. However, it still crashed against his enemy's hip right before he tried to land his counterattack. His maneuver was indeed relatively clever as he attempted to redirect the Guardian's blade so that it would glide past him, but the Guardian had already seen this move coming and he had a cunning trick of his own up his sleeve.

He used the momentum while the adversary was trying to force his blade down to plan an unforseen Trákata maneuver. The Guardian knew damn well that his opponent would never expect him to use the trick as the maneuver was heavily frowned upon by the Jedi and Sith alike, but the Guardian was a Force monster, protecting the artifact with its life and he didn't even give a damn about either anyway.

He quickly deactivated his lightsaber just to reignite it in the exact right moment. He attempted to bypass its opponent's blade thereby, not only avoiding being pushed to the outside with his blade, but also to block the incoming strike by completely interrupting the Champion's attack that was aimed to slash him open from the left shoulder in a diagonal blow to his right hip because his own attack would be much faster.

In the short period of time in which the blade was shut off and the hilt fully free to move, he had flicked the hilt with his wrist in a clockwise motion and adjusted the hand in front of him so that it pointed directly at the Champion heart and with that he pushed the button again, intenting to allow the crimson bladed lightsaber to reach its full length by tearing right through the Champion's armor and flesh.

There was no way he could have seen the blade coming in time and so the Guardian was already feeling triumphant, especially because he still held his wrist in his left hand, so that not even a Force Push could save him. Since the Champion had attempted to strike diagonally, he was caught in his downward movement anyway, so that pulling back was also not an option either. However, in the unlikely event that he would manage to avoid his imminent death, the Guardian was prepared to block the next attempted blow as his full concentration was back on the execution of the lightsaber combat.

And so the end had arrived, but for whom?

The Darkness or the Champion trying to claim the Darkness.

Destiny would be made here...

The Guardian was correct in its adjustments and had both combatants been stationary, it may have very well prevailed. There was no way Roman could have anticipated the Trakata maneuver and thus had no defense to stop it. There was however, the simple aspect of movement. It wasn't much, but it was enough...

As Roman had initiated his downward slash, he had stepped in with his right leg. But the movement didn't stop there, as he needed to pivot on the axis of his right leg to complete the slash. It was quick and even more so by the knee bashing against his right hip; the hit made him pivot even more, a natural reaction for the body to better absorb the blow. And so what did that mean?

The Guardian was able to flicker on his lightsaber following the trakata deception, but instead of Roman's heart, his new pivoted position placed the beam of plasma at Roman's right chest cavity. The crimson weapon seared into his right flank, piercing through the liver and out his back. Was it damaging? Yes. Was it potentially life-threatening? Yes. But was it immediately fatal? No...

The Guardian on the other hand, had no planned secondary defense for the downward slash, resting entirely on the notion that his interrupt would save him. But it didn't, it couldn't, not at that close proximity and not with the downward momentum of Roman's blade. There would be no saving him as the Champions' weapon met its mark and bisected the creature in a diagonal manner from left shoulder to right hip. Its two halves sliding off and crumpling to the ground. Roman shrieked in pain and collapsed to his knees as well, his saber hilt rolling from his grip as his hands went to tend to his wound.

Thunderous echoes resonated from the depths in the chamber, pillars and debris began to tumble down around the wounded Sith. It was the loss of Force spirit, the darkness seeping away as a single chest became visible. The entrance that barred his troopers would soon be released, sliding open as the curse had been lifted and the artifact found its worthy successor. A dark and chilling smile came to Roman's lips, followed by an insatiable laughter.

The mighty force creature had made a mistake by using his last maneuver to go all in. He had intended for his final blow to be lethal, but the Champion's pivoting had made the crimson blade miss the Sith-'s heart, however, it had still landed a fatal strike through his opponent's bowel, but the lightsaber searing through his flesh was the last thing he witnessed before his opponent's blade diagonally slit him in half.

The slit halves landed on the ground with a thud, but as the temple began to crumble around them, the darkness of the Guardian was released in a last, devastating, physical explosion. The armored Champion was hurled backwards through the air and out of the chamber's entrance while debris was sent flying into the air simultaneously.

The imploding pillars began to collapse instantaneously, burying the chamber, the former venue of their intense fight, almost immediately. The injured Champion would survive if he would start escaping right away, but the chest that encompassed the mighty artifact was already burried by the crumbled stone and layers of debris. It immediately began sinking into the sands, so that the chest was swallowed irretrievably and the artifact lost, perhaps for ever.

Auto-killing is not allowed in pvp, even against DM. After checking with staff, the artifact is not awarded for this thread due to several broken rules
