A former Sector Ranger, Haldir was a Jedi Knight who sought the path to balance in the Living Force. Hailing from a small clan who specialized in infiltration and espionage and offered their services to the Sector Rangers, his Force-sensitivity was something his parents endeavored to use to their advantage in favor of maintaining their ranks among the main family branch. And while Haldir proved his worth, the young Arkanian Offshoot soon followed where his heart truly lay: defending those without power as a Jedi Knight of the Jedi Order.

Every male child in the family was to be trained with utmost rigidity and strictness, and, when they are of age, offered up to the Sector Rangers where they could put what they have learned to use to bring down the hand of justice to godless and lawless criminals.

Haldir Erennor was just one of the many unfortunate souls who never had a chance to experience a fulfilling childhood. Born to a family of spies, he was saddled with the duty of keeping the family business alive even at a very young age. At age five he began his training, forsaking his own voice in exchange for learning to copy another's. His sense of identity followed, for spies never portray a single individual – they live lives more than one, a necessary skill to blend among the crowd and to hide in plain sight. It was also a given rule among the clan that no outsider were permitted to hear their real voice and see their true face, and as with all the children before him his parents began by making him wear masks that conceal the lower half of his face.

Stripped of his true voice, his face concealed... no child should've lived with such burden. No child should've been given the permission to mingle with their playmates, only to use someone else's voice to communicate and to safeguard their face and keep their mask on at all times. Such was the life of an Erennor, the family who dealt in lies and deception for the benefit of an organization that they themselves did not allow to bring attention and recognition to themselves. Spies were supposed to be nobodies, after all.

Haldir never had a childhood, but it would have been truly unbearable if it weren't for the other half of his soul.

Hyarantë was Haldir's older twin brother, and despite the twins' contrasting personalities their bond was made stronger by it, their shared fate strengthening each other were one came lacking. Hyarantë was the sun – all bright smiles, boisterous laughter, confident, energetic, expressive, extroverted. Haldir was the moon, painfully shy and awkward, muffled and suppressed chuckles, unassuming, quiet, introverted. Their parents feared that the twins would soon tire of one another's quirks and would drift apart as they grew, but Hyarantë was nothing without Haldir, and Haldir was nothing without Hyarantë. Theirs was a bond that would've been problematic, something that should've been severed for the benefit of the family (they couldn't afford this kind of weakness) had it not been useful in convincing Haldir to take his part and accept his responsibility like every male member of the family had done before him. The twins' bond had been beneficial, but it was also something their parents used against them.

Haldir was Force-sensitive but Hyarantë was not.

Seeing as it was something that could benefit the family in the long run, their parents decided to send Haldir away to train with the Jedi, something the younger twin would've rejected had it not for his older brother's assurances. Haldir had been meaning to run away, to abandon his responsibilities because he never wanted to be a spy nor a Sector Ranger. Haldir wanted to be himself – a doctor who could help the unfortunate – but being who he wanted to be wasn't something the family needed. They wanted him to be someone else, and at age ten they wanted him to be a Jedi. Whatever he could learn from the Order he would use as a spy and a Ranger, and learning how to control the Force and harness its powers were just a few of the things he now needed to obtain.

He didn't want to be a Jedi, but for all he was worth Haldir listened to his twin brother's advice. He didn't want to be a Jedi, but when Hyarantë asked it of him – and not in their parent's stead...

Haldir did not want to be a Jedi, but he would be. He had to. He must.

Everything he learned from his family – combat, but most especially stealth and espionage – he had put to use as he transitioned from being a youngling to a Padawan.

Jedi Knight Rudra Severino, Haldir Erennor's assigned Master, was duly impressed.

The kid might have been hard to read – strange as he was, always wearing a wrap of thin, black bandage all over his head to conceal his face and refusing to verbally speak – but he possessed a determination that rivalled the Knight's. It was disconcerting, in a sense, for Rudra felt that said determination seemed to be misplaced.

Haldir was a good kid. Odd, yes, but a good kid nonetheless. The few times Rudra had managed to get the young Erennor to speak, the Morellian Jedi Knight could only sigh in fond exasperation upon finding out the hard way that Haldir would only answer yes or no questions while perfectly imitating Rudra's voice.

Rudra didn't mean to pry on his student's personal life, feeling that the kid was strictly keeping to himself for a reason. The Knight just did not expect that Haldir's entry to the Order was bound by a pair of parents' greed and lust for power, and an older twin brother's desire to send the young one away to a fate much benevolent than what their parents had in store for him. A mission to the Padawan's homeworld – and an unnecessary visit to Haldir's family (Rudra really shouldn't have insisted) had the Morellian coming to terms just how awful his student's parents were. A brief yet profound conversation with Hyarantë made Rudra agree with the young Arkanian Offshoot that his younger brother was better off with the Jedi – that being surrounded by a family who was driven by selfishness and greed would only spell certain doom for someone as vulnerable as Haldir.

The Knight wanted to help his student and his twin brother. But when he tried to speak to Haldir about the latter's family, he was met by the Padawan's anger.

"I know them and what they want from me more than anyone else," Haldir told Rudra in a voice the Morellian had never heard before. "I know their hearts – both my parents' and my brother's. I thought my Mother and my Father were only the selfish ones... but now I know better. Hyarantë shouldn't have persuaded me to come here... nor should I have allowed myself to be persuaded. He knows I'm strong when I'm with him – he knows that we're stronger together and yet he persuaded me to leave. And I followed, because I believed in him. I still do, but now I also feel that I shouldn't have."

Rudra never thought that he would manage to pull out more than a single sentence from his Padawan for the whole duration of their relationship as Master and student, and it pained him to see that Haldir had ended up saying something hurtful. Their relationship became somewhat strained thereafter, and never had he heard his student speak more than what the latter deemed necessary long after the Arkanian Offshoot passed his Trials to Knighthood. Only when the Morellian – then retired from his Jedi days – nearly lost his eldest son Poet did former Master and Padawan mend their relationship.

But anger remained in Haldir's heart, and Rudra prayed to anyone who might listen for his former student's peace.

"'You have successfully learned from the Jedi and reached Knighthood. Return to the Family immediately.' This is Father's message. What will your response be, Aniue?"

"I will, Otou-sama."

Despite the unnecessary
ceremonial garb and neutral expression he wore for the meeting, Haldir can still see the minute discomfort and apprehension his younger brother seem to feel while relaying the message to their Father whom he know was listening out of the video feed's visual range. Sitting on the hardwood floor in seiza, Hasebe Erennor's shoulders jolt minutely in what seems to be shame before lowering his head in a senrei.

"'Very well. I shall await for your return eagerly. Until then.'"

The feed cut to black, and Haldir finally allows himself to grit his teeth in a mixture of anxiety, anger, apprehension, and fear. What little freedom he has experienced while living in the Jedi Temple will soon be cut short, the years he spent away from the oppressive air of his family's own household still too short compared to what he is about to trade all of it for once he returns home.

A home. Nails bite into the skin of his palms as he balls his hands into fists.

He doesn't want to be a Sector Ranger anymore. He never wants to from the beginning. He has found his purpose in the Jedi Order, found people who genuinely care for him not because of what he can offer. He is an ally here, a comrade; a brother and a friend. Returning to Arkania, to that sorry excuse of a home is something he never dreams of ever doing, and yet his Father never forgets. Has never forgotten why his son went with the Jedi in the first place.

After all these years of being apart, his parents still see him as an asset.

When Hasebe's born Haldir has prayed and prayed and prayed for the younger Erennor to be like Hyarantë and not him. Prayed fervently to any higher power who might listen to not make Hasebe a Force-sensitive like him. It's the first time he's ever asked for something so selfishly, and he knows that it will not be the last as he gets up on his feet to pack his things. He must return home, to try to persuade his parents that maybe he is not fit to be a Sector Ranger after all, that he's supposed to be a Jedi instead. His relationship with Hyarantë has been frayed ever since the older twin planted words they aren't allowed to speak with outsiders to the clan when he met Master Rudra. Maybe it can be something to use against Hyarantë so he can get his older brother to help him persuade their parents. Father and Mother always favor the older twin for being the perfect son, after all.

It is a selfish thought and yet Haldir – in his anger and desperateness – convinces himself that it is not.

But I thought you didn't even want to be a Jedi? What changed? he asks himself. Did you suddenly find the heart Chichiue and Hahaue taught you to discard?

People need other people to change, and the time he's spent in the Order doesn't help his current predicament. Yes, he has not wanted to become a Jedi initially, but the people who care for him, the people he's helped and saved... He'll find the same set of people in the Sector Rangers, but the Force tells him that his path does not lay with them.

Haldir will return home. He will return and tell his parents that he does not wish to uphold his duty to the family any longer. He will continue to be a Jedi Knight, and disownment will not sway him.

Nothing ever will.

———

"Nii-chan!"

Hasebe is crying. Haldir immediately catches the younger Erennor in his waiting arms as the kid launches himself at his older brother, sobbing in earnest on the Jedi Knight's chest. Dread settles in the pit of his stomach, and while he doesn't need to hear the words he lets Hasebe speak in choked sobs and helpless whimpers.

Men in the family are not allowed to show emotions, and he can already feel the distaste and disappointment from the servants who belong in the lower branch of the clan. Haldir ignores them in favor of consoling his crying brother.

"Nii-chan,, I'm sorry! I'm sorry I wasn't able to help!" Hasebe sobbed, clutching the back of Haldir's
haori with trembling fingers. "I should've spoken to object, to help defend your case, but Otou-sama... O-Otou-sama...!"

In the end, Hyarantë hasn't been able to help, because how could a comatose man cast his vote to decide Haldir's fate?

He can only hold Hasebe's trembling body close, his own vision blurring with tears at being unable to match his parents' powers yet again.

He just couldn't match Hyarantë's successful career as a Sector Ranger, and despite the older twin being in a coma for almost a year now didn't help nor motivate Haldir in the long run. His desire to become a full-time Jedi burned stronger than ever – and it was a goal Hyarantë's condition only served to motivate Haldir.

It was also Hyarantë's condition that made Haldur stay, made him keep the profession he found no joy in undertaking. Once upon a time he had been excited to be a part of the Sector Rangers to bring pride to the family name even if he knew that it was a job he would never come to love, but now it was an occupation that left a bitter taste in the back of his tongue. More so because he wasn't Sector Ranger Haldir Erennor, but Hyarantë Erennor instead.

He wasn't just a replacement. He was a copy who made up appearances. He moved the way his twin brother did, spoke the way the older twin did, behaved the way Hyarantë did. Haldir Erennor became a copy of a comatose man – not just to keep up appearances in the Sector Rangers, but more so for his parents' benefit. Haldir might have been prized for his Force-sensitivity, but he wasn't treasured like Hyarantë nor Hasebe. Perhaps it was because of Haldir's desire that went against Father and Mother's ambitions for the family.

He lived as a copy should, throwing away his identity whenever he stepped out into the world and the galaxy at large. Haldir wouldn't have lasted long if it weren't for his love for his twin brother and Hasebe. His siblings were the only reason worth staying for, and the foolish hope that Chichiue and Hahaue would finally be able to see reason and just let him do as his heart desired.

He stayed a copy – for Hyarantë. For Hasebe. And for his foolish hope.

He stayed a copy even if he couldn't breathe anymore.

Another year came and went. Hyarantë remained alseep, and Haldir could tell that Hasebe was finally losing hope.

"Can we just let him go, Haldir-nii?" Hasebe asked him one day, hands clutching the oldest Erennor brother's lifeless one. "I can't... I can't bear to see Nii-chan like this anymore."

Haldir, clad in his Jedi robes for the first time in a long while, shook his head and placed a comforting hand on the youngest Erennor's shoulder. "The Force told me to wait, and so I will. The right time will come, otoutou. I ask for your patience. Just a bit more, until I can pull Hyarantë back to us. Back where he belongs."

Hasebe looked up at Haldir and nodded. "Will you come and visit again? Father and Mother have become more lenient about your visits when I convinced them that you can wake Nii-chan up when the right time comes." The youngest Erennor shifted on his seat and wrapped his arms around Haldir's middle. "You won't have to use that made-up name any longer. You can be an Erennor again, Haldir-nii."

The other half of his soul remained unconscious, unmoving. But Haldir knew that Hyarantë could hear them. A small smile crossed his face, one hand brushing through Hasebe's white hair.

"Of course I will."

Jedi Knight Anemoia, Haldir Eressëa, would keep his word.
PERSONALITY AND TRAITS

images
Selectively mute, most people who knew next to nothing about sign languages found it extremely difficult to communicate with Haldir. Barring the fact that the Jedi Knight's face was always covered in public, it was even more difficult to ascertain his emotions because like some of the Jedi of old, the Arkanian Offshoot most often than not kept his feelings concealed even through the Force. These factors tended to make him appear asocial and stoic, and while Haldir sought companionship he didn't possess the awareness and common sense to try and shed these traits so he could be more open towards others.

Patient by nature, this did not exactly translate to Haldir being inherently kind and considerate. He was a good man, nevertheless, who strove to correct his faults and mend his insecurities. Having lived most of his life in the shadow of his older twin brother, the Knight still possessed the timidity and aloofness of his youth. An unnaturally quiet man, Haldir was more of a listener than a speaker, and would often surprise and/or shock his fellow Jedi whenever he verbally spoke as opposed to typically resorting to sign language.
SKILLS AND ABILITIES

images

Mastery of the Force – Having been trained by a Jedi Knight through his youngling and Padawan days, Haldir's grasp and connection with the Force was made stronger and more in tune with his emotions. Despite being trained as a close quarters combatant, the Arkanian Offshoot found that he was more adept in fighting using the abilities granted to him by the Force than engaging in physical combat. His training and years of being a Jedi Knight made him an adept Force user, an opponent that should be taken seriously in combat. Haldir was also an adept healer.

The Mimic – trained at a young age in the ways of infiltration and espionage, Haldir was capable of changing his voice and hiding in plain sight. He was capable of "changing his appearance at will" through the use of disguises (makeup, outfits, etc.). It should be noted that while Haldir could change his voice, this ability was limited only to a handful of people he had decided to "steal" their voices from, namely: Hyarantë Erennor (older twin), Hasebe Erennor (younger brother), Chie Erennor (cousin), Rudra Severino (Jedi Knight and former master), Muse Severino (Rudra's daughter), and Poet Severino (Rudra's son).

Sword Combat – Haldir favored Form V: Shien and Djem So when it came to lightsaber combat, preferring to fight both defensively and offensively when he was left with no choice but to take up arms and fight instead of solely relying on the Force abilities he could use.

Blasters and Ships – During his time as a Sector Ranger, Haldir was trained to be a dab hand at a blaster and a decent pilot. However, his skills in maintaining both weapons and ship were in need of improvement, having broken some blasters in the past due to his curious tinkering.

Polyglot – Haldir spoke languages including Ryl, Huttese, Jawaese, Tusken (both sign and spoken language), Galactic Basic, and can even understand Shyriiwook perfectly. Being selectively mute himself, he had also taken the time to learn about any available sign languages from said tongues.

Debuting on the underground concert held by the mysterious masked musician G.Wiz, the singer-songwriter only known to the galaxy as Good Night, Moon made his name known to the music industry through the "meddling" of a friend who uploaded a video of one of his demos on Switter. This was followed by another, this time a live version (with the music video, per se, being an experimental one) featuring the faceless singer himself accompanied by his band. From then on began the rise of the masked singer/song writer in the underground music scene, garnering a steadily growing fanbase who appreciated the musician's versatility. Despite his growing fame, his identity remained a well-kept secret and is only known by a select few individuals due to certain circumstances.

In reality, Good Night, Moon was Haldir Eressëa, Jedi Knight and member of the secretive Erennor Clan.

Although born as a disguise to be utilized during his search for his friend, Haldir kept his alter ego for the following reasons: 1) to keep and nurture his musical hobby; 2) to help encourage fellow Jedi who shared his love for music, and; 3) to donate most of his earnings from his music career to the Jedi Order.

Good Night, Moon had long since become a staple in underground music after his debut.
