Biography

During a conflict on Chalacta, a small band of freedom fighters had tracked a cell of the Five Syndicates to a remote farmland where they were enslaving these peaceful people and ransacking their goods. The freedom fighters came in the early morning. They promised deliverance, if only the people stayed quiet and trusted in their rescuers. But when they returned that night, the slavers were ready for them. It was an ambush; somehow they knew. Their rescuers were slaughtered. Only one survived, kept secret from the others. A few of them tended to the woman's wounds, but found a lightsaber. She was a Jedi. They helped her, hoping that she might save them. And in good faith, she learned about their culture. She also discovered a child among them whose parents described as different. But the odds were too against her. So instead of saving a village, she rescued a child.

Haji Sigidi was trained to be a Jedi from a young age. Aside from a few memories, being a Jedi was all he knew. Gifted to him by his master, his parents had left him only a chronicle of his religious culture with a bronze medallion tucked into pages of the book. Written on that page was a note, an invitation to seek out his parents should he ever wish to learn more. Under that note, he later added the coordinates to the village his master had given him. Haji read that book often and tried to adhere to the tenets of his people without much practical knowledge to go on, later tattooing the faithful's black stripes over his eyes as he understood them. And though his conflicted thoughts often dwelled on his parents, he was absorbed in the life of a Jedi.

They moved around constantly. Over the course of his training, three locations served as the main backdrops to his development. The first was above an illegal bloodsport arena, music blasting through all hours of the night. Stealth and secrecy kept them alive. It showed him a darker side of the galaxy, the importance of anonymity for their order, how to focus in the chaos, what violence looked like, how to sleep during the day, but most importantly how to look beneath the surface. There were normal people making this arena function behind the scenes, and they needed help. But not everyone can be helped.

The second location was a remote trading outpost on a jungle planet. They worked in the hangar and she made delivery runs with the crew. She told them he was her son. With so few workers, they almost always had privacy. It was entirely too quiet compared to the last hideout. They would disappear into the jungle at night to train. Nature showed him a peaceful side to the galaxy, connection to life and even a few people, the way of the Force, and the bond it can make. Maintaining droids aside, it was the connection to living creatures that tied Haji to this place. But he soon learned another hard lesson; she was not his mother, they were not his friends, and they couldn't remain attached forever. When the crew was beset upon by pirates, she made a lasting enemy in one bounty hunter with a grudge.

Finally, the last location was a blizzard of snow and ice mountains. They made the long pilgrimage to the crystal caves. Harsh conditions punished them for days and nights, even after finding refuge in the hidden tunnels. And after that, riddling mechanisms blocking their path made the maze of catacombs and pitfalls even more difficult to traverse. Eventually they found a substratum of obsidian crystalline that looked back at them with a life of its own, black and foreboding. It tested them both. It took them on a journey inside themselves, breaking them in a way but also freeing them, until they were somewhere they had not been before. They were both changed after that. She was distracted by a sadness and he by guilt. The caves taught him that failure was not the end, but the journey. It was a lesson he would have to relearn again no doubt. After following the call of his crystal and building his first lightsaber, he faced the test of the mirror once more and learned that mastery doesn't happen in short time. And yet growth, however small, can be monumental.

Personality

The Thinker (Introverted, Intuitive, Thinking, Perceiving). Haji is a spiritual being with an affection for past cultures, architecture, and creatures. He can be at times too detached from the people around him and appear arrogant or reproachful, sensitive and pained. He is kind at heart and seeks out opportunities to help others in anything that he is doing. He is motivated by his studies and embraces his connection to the Force.

[note: Haji does not nor will ever have a resistance to mental manipulation as stated on wookieepedia under chalactan adepts. His species and religion are for flavor, not practical use. He is essentially human.]
