DESCRIPTION
The GX-1 Lantillian Transport, also known as the Short Hauler or Lantillian Starbus depending on configuration, is a well used ship that has existed since the time of the Clone Wars. The GX1 original marketing targets were affluent retirees interested in cruising the starlanes in a well-equipped and comfortable vessel without the high price tags of other larger star yachts.

The design team originally intended to produce a model that would compete with the more popular designs from the Corellian Engineering Corporation that were in high demand during that time. They did not succeed in that respect, but unintentionally managed to create one of the first luxury pleasure craft that was within the average consumer's financial reach. It became popular enough to use as a common diplomatic vessel by the Republic as well as a starbus transport all the way through the age of the Galactic Empire. The model is updated periodically and still sees steady sales in the current era.

The standard variant is somewhere between a yacht and transport shuttle, featuring powerful and efficient engines paired with a streamlined design. Fast for its size, it relies on speed and shielding to keep away from threats while its class 2 hyperdrive gets it where it needs to go. The underslung pod is accessed by a hatch in the floor and can fly at a comparable speed over short distances, usually just enough for its own hyperdrive to trigger. It has no shields of its own however and so pre-loading coordinates is recommended by the designing company. Similar to many ships of similar size it has only a single turret, a top-mounted dual laser cannon to discourage attack. The turret can technically be remotely operated by any flight deck console with approved access, but the gunner's console has dedicated and more intuitive controls.

Though it can be flown by only a single pilot, in professional or government settings they usually have a full crew of five. The inside has dedicated room for all the crew, galley, medbay, and even a small machine shop to effect spot repairs or engineering work as needed. The open spaces inside and the cargo area are easily modified to serve other functions. A relatively common adjustment made by private owners is the removal of the conference table to fit other more useful functions.

The long range communications and sensor array visible topside allows for both advance warning about incoming threats as well as access to the Galactic HoloNet for rapid communication and surfing holosites. The port and starboard stabilizer fins fold up in landing position and rotate back ninety degrees alongside the ship when in flight. These fins aid maneuverings both in space and atmosphere, adjusting as needed by pilot controls.

The GX-1 Starbus is a common variant seen in commercial use throughout the galaxy, swapping out the top gun, detachable pod, and communication/sensor suite for four additional passenger capacity, a cargo bay door, two 5 being escape pods, and an integrated droid pilot as the only crew.

Despite the age of the design, with frequent updates they continue to roll off the assembly line to continue being produced. They can be spotted anywhere from the Core worlds as private yachts to the Outer Rim as smuggler's ships and common transports.

LEGALITY
Legal. Luxury transports and starbuses like the GX-1 are considered innocuous enough under most jurisdictions, and are not restricted in most systems.

INTENT
To bring a ship from both Canon and Legends into the forum's list of ships, as well as an option for generic space transport in the starbus.
