First off, discuss, etc.

Secondly, I think four or even less is about the right number. Six, which is what I've ended up with is too many to maintain any kind of decent speed.

Three to four seems about right to me.

Do we want multiple classes running at a time? I don't know what kind of interest a diplomatic class would garner, but I don't want to draw attention away from you, Kit, but I'd be glad to run one.

Alright, I'll get one up, then. I need to think a little about what I'm going to teach, though.

I'd put 5 as max, to be honest.

I wouldn't put a standard cap on it, to be honest. I think a lot of it will come down to what's actually being taught. For example, if Kupo is teaching a class on lightsaber combat, then fewer is better than more because that's going to be very intensive in terms of what people are going to post.

As Sage Master, though, one type of class I'll be doing is Jedi philosophy. That won't be a class where there's as much activity, but rather people will need to be there, post a set number of times, and probably take some sort of "test" at the end so I can be absolutely sure that they understand the Jedi philosophy.

That type of class would allow for more people.

I intend to get a class up and running fairly soon. I'm probably not going to have it simply as "Jedi History", because quite frankly I don't think people will want to RP learning about what we all already know. Instead I'm going to run it just after the current council session has finished, and it's going to be about the history of the Sith (moderated to avoid padawans going crazy with power, ofc), an overview of their philosophies and the counter arguments to their beliefs.

At the moment I'm still deciding whether this will be open initially like the other classes or whether it'll be ask/invite. This is because of the obvious risks of teaching younger, more inexperienced members of the order about the Sith.

Thoughts? Is this a completely idiotic idea? Should I in fact just stick to Jedi history?

Yeah, that sounds like a great way to avoid it just being a rubbishy history lesson! I think yours is probably the hardest job out of the lot of us, Den.

I was also thinking of starting a second class. With the rate of the first one, I think I would be able to handle running two at once.

I noticed that in the thread Kupo posted about classes, it says that there won't be sign up threads. To make things easier, when I do a class (which I will be soon) I'd actually like to do a sign-up thread. It's a bit easier than having people PM me, because they can see how many slots are still left.

Anyone care?

Do eet.

I may be running a class on leadership, seeing as Jedi will be called to lead units in the GA.

That's a good idea.

EDIT: When I'm done with the sign up thread, I'll move into the archive sub-board. That way it doesn't just sit around and clog the OOC sub-board.

I had a thought when I saw that and Kupo's post in it, a thought that's probably what he was thinking too. Any group class should have to be approved by the Council member in charge of that specific area. So, in this case, Kupo would have to approve that.

Council members (at least, speaking for myself) would undoubtedly be planning future classes in order to form a curriculum, for lack of a better word, so it would be best to have people who want to do what Miranda is doing coordinate with the relevant Council member in order to make sure they're not stepping on any toes.

Thoughts?

OK, I'm putting a sign up for my "Sith ideology no no class" (mentioned previously in this thread if anyone's forgotten) up now. I've decided that places will be dished out to characters who can deal with learning about the Sith without adverse side effects, instead of being on a first come first served basis as the others are. This is purely to avoid padawan x taking the class because they got first reply, going mental and dying in some blood soaked orgy.

That sounds fun, though!
