The bidding for the four Lancer-class Frigates sparked plenty of interest, with more bids than the previous rounds. The Bothan's eyes swept over the establishment, noting the presence of the newcomer who ended up winning the frigates (@Charles ), as well as the glances that the human received as this was revealed. Behind his showman's smile, the Bothan wondered if he'd been too greedy in allowing others to enter once the auction had started. In this case, it meant more credits for him... but it wouldn't do to scare away the customers who had been here since the beginning. Something to consider for future auctions, for sure, but what was done was done.

"Two Lots remain!" he beamed, glancing over the assembly. "And Lot 9 is most unique! Say hello to the Berex-Class Carrier; a carrier and mobile workshop all in one! Two onboard machine shops will ensure that its six squadrons (72) starfighters are always combat effective!" The penultimate Lot was an exciting one, as far as Gem was concerned, and he expected furious bidding for the 10th and final Lot as well as planets which had not obtained any ships scrambled to bring something home.

Well no escorts but a dedicated carrier was up instead.

It wasn't the largest carrier on the market but he could see the Jedi Order getting some use out of it so he made to bid on it with some of the remaining credits. It was the second to last lot as well so he figured it was probably time to spend the rest of his 'allowance' such as it was.

Could also work well as an escort for the Star Destroyer or, in this case, the Star Destroyer would make for an excellent escort for the carrier.

The point was that there was scope for it to be useful for he put in his bid and sipped his mocktail.

The anti-starfighter frigates would have made a nice addition to Hauron's growing collection. Alas it seemed someone else would be getting them. The war machines would have been difficult to manage though and had extensive crew requirements compared to the other ships that the Mandalorian had won thus far. But his eyes lingered on the faces of those he could see on the holoprojection even as the announcer moved onto the next lot.

Taking a deep breath and pushing the loss behind him, Hauron focused on the next lot. Now he had the opportunity to regret not winning one of the starfighter wings since the next bid would be for a a Berex class carrier. The Mikkian's pupiles dialated slightly without him even realizing it and he licked his lips briefly. They were just what he needed, what they needed.

Hauron would type up his bid and give it only a moment's pause before hitting the confirmation key. It would be the most he put forward on one of the lots thus far. But it was either this, or the very last lot to spend his credits on. The auction was nearing its end and the Solus wanted to come away with as much as possible.

The interior of the ship boasted machine shops and even if it was not housing starfighters, it could be used for transporting other supplies. Furthermore it could serve as a mobile base of operations down the line. The possibilities were endless. Hauron found himself leaning forward with mild anticipation.

No.

Way.

This was the luckiest Dash had ever been in his entire life! Of course, it was probably all beginner's luck, but Lebowski couldn't care less. He had won himself a perfect bargaining chip with the Syndicates- and maybe with just about anyone else if he decided to hold on to one or two of them. Either way, this investment wouldn't be wasted at all. But now came the decision to bid again. Of course, any carrier would be great, but Lebowski decided to revel a bit in his winnings and see what the final lot was all about.

Now we're talkin' - Berex-class carriers were a fantastic fleet element that would add some serious fire-power behind her name, once fully loaded with starfighters of course. Not only would they perform well in anti-piracy role but even in a general combat setting they would add significant staying power to a fleet away from home.

Regardless of the outcome of the bid, Victoria made a note to look into inquires of her own as these vessels would do nicely, she thought. Cueing up her decently sized bid, she waited to see how stiff the competition would be in the second to last lot. With any luck, she would beat anyone saving up for the last auction.

Gem's jaw dropped as the bids came in for the Berex-class carrier, with someone (@Darasuum) claiming the ship by placing the largest bid in the auction's history so far. The Bothan unsuccessfully tried to calculate his cut of the profits from that Lot alone, spending a few moments staring off at some imaginary calculations before remembering that there was still one Lot left.

"Distinguished guests, thank you so much for your participation- and your credits!" he laughed, managing to find his way back into reality once again. "Nine Lots have been shown, bid upon, and won!"

A prerecorded drumroll began building up as the Bothan continued. "And that means that there is but one final Lot left; Lot ten!"

Images of the wildly popular K-10 Defense Station would be displayed, as the drumroll reached a crescendo aided by a completely unnecessary explosion of confetti that showered across the stage. "TWO of these beauties constitute the final Lot!" Gem grinned. He couldn't wait to see how stiff the competition would be. Although planets usually employed anywhere from half a dozen to fifty of these, adding even two amounted to a decent increase in a planet's defensive capabilities.

Smoke lazily worked its way up and around the considerable proportions of the Hutts head. Through half-closed eyes, Nor'baal observed the auction, wondering ever so often whether he should bother with elevating his paddle and casting a bid. Thus far, none of the lots had impressed him - he could secure any and all of the items for far less through the usual channels open to a crime lord of his stature.

However, when the Space Station appeared as the last lot, Nor'baals tail lashed with delight, and a thick globule of drool trickled from his pustulent mouth. It simply had to be his.

Sending his eye-wateringly over the top bid in, Nor'baal sat back with a self-satisfied smile, and glowered at the others in the room, as if daring them to even try and outbid him.

Rolled all six of my dice.

Victoria groaned in frustration as the ninth lot and now several in a row had gone against her. There was now one final lot to bid on, and it wasn't even a ship! The defence stations would definitely provide a rock solid anchor point in the ever long struggle against piracy, and so they were definitely worth bidding for, even more so that this was the final lot and therefore there was no longer any reason to hold back.

Victoria bid with everything she had left, and just had to hope with all her might that it would overcome any fat bid placed by the others.

Hmm.

On one hand, the Jedi Order weren't supposed to be the type of fighters to really need space stations. They were a symptom of cold wars and other conflicts that demanded a more inflexible defensive line and the Jedi Order and their Resistance tended to avoid such fights - to avoid the Sith being able to throw their sheer weight of metal at any one point.

Still, there was an appeal.

The K-10 could house hundreds of Jedi and Resistance members and if they were hidden away at hard-to-reach locations then they could make for excellent bases that retained the ability to actually fight back. In the end, Godric had some credits burning a hole in his pocket and he was going to either throw them at this or at a brace of fighters from a second-hand dealer for the other purchase he'd managed.

Might as well risk it for a biscuit.

The seconds seemed to just tick by. The digital readout of the clock slowly changed the numbers until Hauron finally heard the announcer's voice come over, slightly distorted by the holo-projector's limited quality. The Mandalorian could feel the faint coolness of sweat droplets in his arm pits and his head tendrils grow still.

He had won! The berex class cruiser now belonged to him and the rebel Mandalorians. The young Mikkian clenched both hands into fists and gave himself a small hushed 'Yus' before relaxing. He needed to play it cool and watch the last lot just in case anyone was keeping an eye on him specifically. But he had to let out a bit of his pride and satisfaction for winning the bid. It just felt good, even if he had spent a fortune on the flotilla warships.

The last lot was a space station. The structure's very nature did not seem all too appealing to Hauron. The wealth he had remaining was not worth the stationary creation. If there was a safe place or perhaps an easier way to transport it to a remote and hidden location, that would be another matter. But the other attendees did not appear to feel the same. If anything, some of them looked hungrier than ever before.

Hauron would lean back into his seat and pull out a commlink. He needed to start thinking of how to route the three raider class corvettes and the berex class carrier to a safe and anonymous location. The Wookiees of Kashyyyk and their system was likely a decent location. There was the other matter of getting back in contact with some of the isolated tribes of Mandalorians. The large ships needed ample crews to function at their full capabilities.

Psych! Hauron doesn't have any more dice credits to spend

The final lot was up and Dash felt lucky- he had a few extra credits to spend, too. Now all he had to do was make sure he could beat out the remaining competition. He joined late, but he wasn't giving up on this anytime soon. Entire space stations seemed to be something worth throwing your credits at, win or lose.

Gem was expecting a sizable bid for the final Lot, with K-10 Defense Stations the backbone of most planetary defense systems, but even he was surprised by the amount wagered by the winner (@Nor'baal). The bid smashed records for the auction, and while Gem knew that he didn't want to inquire as to how the funds had been obtained, they spent as well as any other credits in this galaxy; credits that Gem now had a lot of.

"Thank you, thank you one and all!" he said, smile and gaze sweeping across the assembled patrons and holograms. "This concludes our auction today, but keep an eye out; this isn't the last you've seen of Gem Laheli!"

OOC: Thank you all for your participation! Hope you had as much fun as I did. -Slag
