A WOMAN

Numa is deeply empathic, and compassion defines her above all else; but being raised in a culture of excess, greed and oppression, she does not wrap her bleeding heart in a tender exterior.

The words “grouch,” and “Intense” have often been heard alongside her name.

Finding the company of sentiments to be challenging at times, she channels her compassion into tasks, rather than day to day courtesy. Blunt to a fault, she has been known to hold entire conversations with a knowing scowl, and does not easily suffer indirect or idle chatter. Numa also does everything within her power to avoid lethal force.

She is an avid hobbyist. As a trained engineer, she spends most of her free time in hangars and workshops, and finds droids to be very pleasant company (fewer feelings). Numa’s creative outlets are instrumental in managing the often overwhelming burden of her empathy. She secretly dreams of someday having the means to create a sanctuary for endangered flora and fauna.

Her emotions are as much a weakness as a strength. The people and things she cares about she forms deep bonds with, and breaking them can be catastrophic. The path to the dark side always seems to be staring back at her in a galaxy filled with fear, agony, and hatred. Numa is often very angry. Still she endeavors ceaselessly to provide the hope and compassion needed to find balance, and improve the lives of others wherever she can.

A JEDI

Numa has been a padawan for several years. While she lacks social charm, her ability to read others and her talent with machines have set her on the path to be an investigator. While she eagerly awaits her trials, she is held back by her difficulty trusting others.

Numa places immense value on her preparedness for combat; not because she revels in it, but because she fears it. Violence contains many easy paths to the dark side, and to avoid them requires great control. She focuses on defensive lightsaber forms, and combines them with hand to hand combat techniques to remain as efficient, and non lethal as possible. Her upper body strength is average for an athletic humanoid, but her leg strength is remarkable. Numa is known for throwing a lot of knees, elbows, and powerful kicks during a lightsaber duel, and even designed her pommel to be an effective blunt striker.

As an engineer, Numa loves to fly, but is absolutely mortified at the thought of starship combat. While she carries a blaster, it has been permanently set to stun. As an empath she prefers the intimacy of close combat, and is much better at it.

A STORY

Canto Bight is nobody’s home, but for Numa, it’s where she started. Memories before Canto are few bright lights, soft purple hair that wasn’t hers, and an orphanage on a planet she was mostly sure began with a “C”. Numa was brought to Canto at a very early age as part of their “foster” work program. Even orphaned, Numa was a Theelin child with artistic sensibilities, and deeply empathic. It was through this trait her sensitivity to the force first manifested. Unfortunately, this only made life more difficult for some time. A love starved childhood of labor on a casino world was psychically very loud and painful, causing fits of reclusive depression that hurt her productivity, and incurred discipline.

For a few years she was constantly being shuffled between work duties, in an effort to minimize her behavioral problems. When she was younger Numa was able to find some peace working in the stables. The unclouded expression of animals were a balm to her strained mind; but they were captives, and eventually she found it difficult to absorb their suffering. Once she was old enough, she was allowed to work in hangars, and from their moved onto engineering. Mechanics and computer busied her mind, and allowed her to focus. It was here she met her mentor, one of the first kind souls of her life.

Byaku was an old retired pilot who filled Numa’s head with stories of his days in the resistance, and it’s heroes. He was also able to identify Numa as a force sensitive. Suddenly Numa had hope.

She was stuck on Canto a few years longer, but the time went easier with her sense of purpose. In her own small way she learned to control her abilities, and planned an escape offworld. However, once free Numa discovered an even more hostile galaxy, unfriendly to a teenage runaway. It took her nearly two years to find her way to Ajan Kloss. During that time she walked a dangerous path, and was even forced to kill in self defense. The lives she took left a permanent mark on her, and she has kept her blaster on stun ever since.

Once accepted into the new Jedi Order, it took Numa some time to recover and adapt. She has remained a padawan for longer than most due to her issues with socialization, but hopes to become a knight soon.

Weigh Station Karambola. Outer Rim

36ABY
The galaxy is on the edge of it’s seat. Conflict between the resistance and the first order appears to have reached its conclusion; but this is a story told all to recently before. The only thing certain is the devastation of war, and everyone is waiting to see what comes from the ashes.

The reasons for being this far out are obvious. Karambola’s weigh station drifts on the fringe on the galaxy, and serves mostly those who like to do the same. Times being what they are, business has been good. Much of chartered space feels ripe for the carving after the recent troubles, and all walks are appreciating the operational freedom the station has to offer. Elites and Scum mingle freely, and every handshake hides a bribe. Welcome to the new frontier.

****************
“Yer done” grumbled a portly bothan, forcefully ejecting a grease covered theelin woman from his hangar on the 4th level.

“Debts paid. If I see your ragged mug again, I’ll sell you back where you came from, or worse. Hear me talking?” Lykka scowled, as if this young woman’s existence was a personal offense to his person. In his left hand, he dangled a filthy old rucksack over her head as if it were bait for a show animal.

Already flustered and sore, she took the bait and took a few futile swipes for the bag from the cold durasteel platform she lay on. Lykka quickly grew bored with this, dropping the satchel in her lap in a gesture he considered to be benevolent. Hastily examining its meager contents of a half change of clothing, and cracked data-pad, the theelin sprang to her feet with a nasty yellow eyed scowl.

“Give me my pistol, and my tools!” She barked, sounding more desperate than she would have liked.

Lykka cackled, “You think I’m sending a a thieving womp-rat like you back onto this station ARMED? Let’s call it your pissy attitude tax, and count yourself lucky to be alive.”

Inhale. Exhale. An uncommon calm came over her. She replied quietly, and purposefully, “I have worked off my debt, and earned back ALL my effects”

“You have worked off your debt, and earned back ALL your effects.” Lykka agreed, and produced a medium blaster with matching stun baton (clearly security issue from somewhere), and an incomplete assortment of maintenance tools. After, that exchange he simply nodded, and retreated into his hangar bay for good.

Numa huffed a sigh of relief, and scrambled to stuff the weapons into her grease stained satchel before anyone noticed; careful to leave he hilt of the baton poking out just enough for a quick retrieval. The old hand tools were fastened to her belt as a type of advertisement. She rubbed her hands together vigorously
, and used the heat to press back her bright shock of fluorescent hair, puffing out her chest in an added effort to feign confidence. After a quick look around, she seemed satisfied that no one (that she noticed) had been paying too much attention, and set off towards the stations rest area.

Though she did a passible job of blending in to the assorted scabs and roughnecks that populated Karambola Station, Numa was terrified. Not for her safety, but for a single realization that sounded in her like an alarm.

What in the 7 hells was she going to do now?

Del Nordo

Sector Rangers Ranger Kel Dor Male 33
Home: Chandrilla/CoruscantForce Sensitive: no
Art Source Theme

Character Information

    • Height = 1.85 meters (6ft 1in)
    • Weight = 95 Kg ( 210lbs)
    • Skin = Rusty brown
    • Eyes = pupil-less grey

Notable Characteristics: Grey/black rebreather and a goggles, simple and spartan by design a few small scratches line up with light scarring on his face. It contains an input feed for liquid consumption, and a spice vaporizer.

Del usually wears a long leather coat, with a tall, bantha fur lined collar over his armor.

  • Corruption is a state of being.

Del grew up the son of a senate lobbyist for tech interests, and he loved it. Everything was exciting and shiny, he had friends and means to get up to every sort of no good you may want; but his greatest blessing was naïveté. Like anyone with a hint of privilege, he refused to question it for years...until he didn’t. It started with his friends. Children of politicians and syndicate leaders faciliting tings they didn’t understand as “harmless fun”. Hanging out in the lowest of lowlife clubs, acting like little dukes.

Once Del got a whiff of what he might really be involved in, it was too late. While he was enjoying the spoils, his mother’s professional relationships had gotten complicated. She barked down the wrong tree and lost a lot of people’s money. Already there was pressure being put on Del; so he emancipated himself, and left his family behind.

The next few years were rough. Del didn’t have many skills except his shattered arrogance and being a mediocre pilot. He took whatever work he could as long as it was mostly honest (not that the bar was high). For the first time in his life, Del struggled to survive. He learned to keep his head low, and pay close attention to the world around him. More than a few licks came his way, but eventually he found a sense of direction after he accidentally helped catch a bounty from a bar he was working at in the rim. His eye for detail helped break the case, and the Sector Ranger he assisted sent him some recruitment information. Del’s been toeing the thin line of justice ever since.

  • Del is what you might call... flexible. He knows the difference between right and wrong, and in his own quiet way acknowledges the law can be both; but that doesn’t make him merciful, just jaded. This galaxy has a greasy underbelly bigger than a Hutt’s rear end, and twice as rancid. If someone’s gotta crawl under there and drag up every shred of decency that’s still smothering under the putrid weight of crime, might as well be Del.

Even if can be a bit self destructive, he takes his work deathly seriously. The looks of hope and gratitude from the previously defenseless hold his soul together. He is patient, observant, and has a thirst for the truth; every bit a practiced detective.

Though he keeps lodging on coruscant, he prefers to drift when he can. This keeps him living simple, and better focused on getting the job done. For all his years away from it, Del still has a weakness for material things and flashy activities he does his best to suppress, with middling success.

  • Del’s been at this a long time.

He is a competent pugilist, pilot, and gunslinger. Or as he would say “good enough so far.”
He’s picked up a little splicing, and enough mechanical skill for standard maintenance on his ship.

His best skill is what he got from his long forgotten parents. Del is a real communicator. He knows how to pay attention, and is a natural detective, with a silver tongue when he needs it. He’s walked both sides of the tracks, and has a keen sense for what makes people tick.

Del Nordo’s Sector Suit

Del Nordo’s personal suit of the baseline armor made available for use by the Sector Rangers. The standard issue suit comes with duroplast plating of a thermal weave base layer, to provide rangers with adequate protection for a wide range of heroics. While budget does allow for too many bells and whistles upfront, rangers are encouraged to invest in alternate functions that best serve them, and can fill out a R-43 requisition form to be issued a whipcord or bola launcher for target acquisition. As a Kel Dor has no need of a flight helmet under most circumstances, Del has substituted mag-boots as a practical alternative.

LEGALITY

Legal in all parts of the galaxy, as required by Sector Ranger regulations

INTENT

Representation of the simply sector ranger armor build worn by Ranger Del Nordo

ADVANCED TECH
NO. Basic armor suite available to Sector Rangers. Nothing illegal, rare, or difficult to obtain is provided to law enforcement officers.

Type and Coverage

Type: medium

Coverage:

  • Torso: Segmented durplast plating over thermalweave jumpsuit covering most of torso
  • Back: Duroplast plating covering upper back
  • Upper Arms: Duraplast pauldrons
  • Lower Legs: Armored Boots with duraplast shin plating and knee pads

Functions

Function 1: Mag-Boots
  • Magnetic boots contain electromagnets in the soles and allow for enhanced movement on ferrous surfaces in microgravity or steep gradients. This functionality must be turned on or off manually by a button or switch.
  • Force User Compatible?: No
Function 2: Computer Spike
  • Computer spikes are used to forcibly decrypt or unlock computer terminals. Most civilian systems can be cracked in one posting round, while most military or hardened systems take two or more.
  • Force User Compatible?: Yes
Function 3: Whipcord Launcher

  • The whipcord launcher was a personal weapon that fired a thin fibercord whip which then wrapped around and ensnared the target to restrict mobility up to 10 meters away while remaining attached to the mount point. It was detachable with a second use of the firing button. The whipcord launcher was favored by bounty hunters, as it was easy to carry and use and it virtually always ensured a live capture, though it could be cut by a vibro blade with ease.
  • Force User Compatible?: No
Function 4: Thermal Undersuit
  • Thermal undersuits wick away or reflect thermal energy for brief periods of time. They are not nearly as effective as a suit that firefighters would wear. Most commonly used to protect soldiers from flamethrower weapons or short bursts of extreme heat or cold, and are only good for 1-2 posts of exposure depending on intensity. They are useless against blasters.
  • Force User Compatible?: No

STUN KNUCKLES

AFFILIATION
Open Market

MANUFACTURER
Blackwell Technologies

SIZE
Handheld

WEIGHT
6.5oz

COMPOSITION
Durasteel

WEAPON TYPE
Melee

DAMAGE TYPE
Melee
Medium Stun

AMMUNITION CAPACITY
10 charges

FIRE SELECTOR
On/off pressure switch, safety lock

MAX RANGE
Contact/ Touch

DESCRIPTION
Stun Knuckles are a mildly thuggish, but concealable alternative to batons and staves. They generate a stun field by way of a power pack that fits in the palm grip when worn. It accepts standard blaster type powerpacks, and provides 10 stun charges which are released on contact with any solid or energized surface. When turned off, or out of charges, these still function as Durasteel knuckles, and add additional blunt force to any punch. When activated with the thumb via a pressure switch, a successful strike imparts a stun blast equal in strength to a standard medium stun bolt- a direct hit on an unarmored head or torso will often render the victim unconscious, while hits on unarmored limbs will render them momentarily useless. Armor protects the wearer to a degree, but successive strikes provide a "bleed-through" effect, progressing from a sharp shocking sensation to the aforementioned unconsciousness. Stun Knucks also help absorb a small amount of the impact from striking armor and other hard surfaces,. Due to the placement of the thumb switch, any half trained fighter would know that activating the stun feature requires weakening the integrity of the fist, and therefore does not allow for a full force punch when attempting to stun; more jab, less roundhouse.

Note: This technology only works on blunt damage durasteel knuckles with ridges. Spikes or bladed alternatives are not compatible. Phrik or cortosis is not used in stun knuckles, as effectively parrying a lightsaber or blaster bolt with these would be impossible.

LEGALITY
Legal in nearly all systems, though considered a bit less civilized than a baton.

INTENT
A flavorful, slightly concealable alternative to stun batons, for crooks an law enforcement alike with a pugilistic preference.

ADVANCED TECH
No. It may be frowned upon in some places, but it is “stunningly” basic.

Del Nordo’s Duds
Ranger Del Nordo spends every day and midnight trudging through the frigid tundra of injustice; how’s a fella supposed to stay warm? Whether blending in at a backwater cantina, or walking the halls of the alliance senate, this ranger is making the law look good. Kel Dor’s custom blast vest is tailored for a little extra coverage, and to help him keep handy a few tools of the trade, concealed by the left sleeve. The dark chocolate finish this all bantha leather garment perfectly compliment its owners siena skin, and those extra sensory tusks are as distinguished as ever when being hugged with a tall, fur lined collar. Underneath things stay safe and slender with a thermal weave union suit that sticks to his physique like sand on a sarlac. Bringing new meaning to the term “flat foot”, Kel’s thigh high boots house powerful magnets so you know he always stands his ground. Crime never got so lucky. Oh...and it has pockets.

Biography

foc44Zn.jpg

“Decay is inevitable...it is the will of the force.”

It doesn’t matter what 3rd world planet he was born to, Oossan barely had his first mouthful of air before leaving. His childhood was primarily nomadic, spent with his family aboard their medical frigate. The Juntag Firm was created by Oosan’s parents as medical services non-profit that effectively served as missionaries to underserved worlds in the mid and outer rim. They had little funding, but a lot of heart, and his parents had dedicated their life to this mission.

From a very young age, Oossan came to feel contempt for his family. No, not contempt, disgust; and total apathy. He grew up drenched in irony: to one side of him were the infirm and destitute, and to the other was the hopelessly altruistic. Between them lived the single never ending lie that death could somehow be beaten. Stalled, bartered with, and occasionally even cheated, but never beaten. What death wanted, it took; without sympathy or spite. He became obsessed with it, no, infatuated.

This infatuation was more than enough to keep him interested in the family business, and their good intentions were easy for him to delude. The only emotional anchor to get through to him was his younger sister. Her admiration was satisfying in its innocence, and she seemed to need him in her way. This was his best leverage against the discovery of his sinister inclinations. As they grew older Oossan and his elder sister both studied medicine, following in their parents footsteps. Their pride in him was woefully misplaced. By all appearance he was a prodigal son to the Juntag family, traveling to distant colonies in need, and treating exotic illnesses; but for every dozen people he helped to stall death’s will, he would experiment with another. His preferred method was to exacerbate an ailment to sustain the moments before the inevitable as long as possible. With practice he was able hold a victim at mortalities edge for months. Then Oossan made a miraculous discovery: death was speaking to him.

For some time Oossan thought he was going mad, yet still could not resist the whispers of the dark side. After some research, he became convinced this was indeed the force communing with him. While chasing down rumors and heresay To learn more about his connection, by chance he took a position treating a small advance colony on Malachor V. During his time there he encountered a true dark sider, a hermit obsessed with artifacts and temples who immediately recognized the potential in the young Duros. Oossan extended his stay, then visited repeatedly to study the ways of the dark side of the force from his new master. Then the force taught him a new name for death, and with it, gave a broader perspective on its power and reach. He called it the shadow, and in return it named him Carrion.

Carrion quickly grew bored by his masters stagnation, and murdered him with a strain Dathomiran wild flu. He was reborn, and thus ended his time as pauper in the Juntag Firm. He accepted a role on the advisory board for political reasons, and moved into the private sector doing field research on terminal illnesses and conditions, which allowed him able opportunity to continue his own monstrous experiment, now with increased access and assets. As he began searching for the means to pursue a darker path, he encountered the Knight of Ren. There was some tension at first, but eventually Carrion Ren was pleased with how untraceable the death of his younger sister had been. With them he will guide the galaxy to its one true destiny: The pitiless consumption of the dark side.

Personality
foc44Zn.jpg

tumblr_naat4xqn6u1tztrdmo1_400.jpg

Ossan and Carrion Ren are both an unquestionable sociopath. They operate with a total absence of empathy, and calculates every act with a keen and patient mind. This is why they so identify with the shadow of the dark side, holding a degree of faith only describable as zealotry. They regard sentients to be part of some larger test or game within the force. Their dual passions are furthering the Shadow’s reach, and demonstrating his own perceived superiority. Anything with a will that lacks the strength to wield it, does not deserve that gift; becoming forfeit to the all consuming appetite of the Ren.

They are obviously aloof at their best, but under the guise of Oossan Juntag have mastered the mechanics of how to present oneself as trustworthy, or even generous and kind. Carrion, by contrast, is cold and merciless to a fault; apathy made flesh.

Abilities

foc44Zn.jpg

sith_assassin_by_robwzor_d9hz56j-fullview.jpg
Carrion Ren’s greatest strength is their intellect. They are skilled physician, and insidious tactician; always thinking several steps ahead of the opposition. As a sociopath, many technical skills come easily, and they are extremely adept with computers. Being raised in starships has also made them very proficient pilot. To an extent, their analytic approach to sentient interaction has also made them a great manipulator.

With very little regard for emotion from, their command of the force is the product of ceaseless practice, and pragmatism; and is focused in the realm of mental and physical torture, with a special focus on abilities such as force drain Having never trained for combat before adulthood, they are not as adept a warrior as some of their peers. However, their love and appreciation for the elegance of the lightsaber has motivated them to become a capable duelist. As is the case with many Duros, they favor speed, and stealth for advantage, rather than rely on their modest physical strength.

Carrion’s Armor of Ren

"Decay is inevitable... your defiance, insulting."

The Knights of Ren have need for being both intimidating and mysterious. The mask serves them in this way, and as a symbol of their new identity in service to the all consuming Ren. Dr. Oossan Juntag spends his days researching terminal illnesses, but his true face is the mask of Carrion Ren. Both men dress in black, though Oosan is styled in sleek proffesional attire befitting his station. Carrion’s mask is shrouded in a wide cowl, and long fitted robes.

His bracer, sometimes worn by both persona, is unexceptional, mundane, and black, having the only additional, ubiquitous functions of a hidden computer spike, and datapad interface. The display settings even change color and format to support his dual identity. The voice scrambler is normally set to produce a gravelly whisper that is reminiscent of something otherworldly or undead.

A personal Knights of Ren Mask for Carrion Ren, with bracers for utility

Juntag Firm:
Many Worlds, One Heart

Formed by a pair of Duros doctors, Fel and Oona Juntag, the Juntag Firm is non-profit organization committed to providing medical assistance wherever it is truly needed. Though small, they are sincere and passionate in their work, and have a sterling reputation with all the communities they serve. While the Firm began as a recruitment and funding platform for young doctors, it’s primary focus now is helping those doctors connect with grants and placement, providing resources and supplies as funding allows. They also maintain a handful of permanent clinics throughout the galaxy, including at the home office on Chandrilla. Even though their humanitarian efforts are highly regarded, they operate on a very thin resources and with no end of planets in need of their help. This has unfortunately made them the butt of a few jokes in the core when it comes to canvassing, and charity drives.

History
It’s founders spent their young adult life as missionaries of a sort, traveling to the mid and outer rim, dedicated to the belief that all sentients deserve access to medicine. Once the Juntag family grew too big for their modest medical freighter, they established an office on Chandrilla in 113 ABY, and the Juntag Firm was born. It started small, and remains so today, but the good work they do has helped them maintain enough support to stay afloat.

Assets
latest
Very limited. They own no other property than the tiny offices and clinic on Chandrilla; and all outer world clinics are considered to be leased from the resident community. One of the few honest humanitarian organizations in the galaxy, they have remained as such by funneling all their resources right back into the communities they serve. They receive limited grants from the Free World Alliance, and otherwise subsist on private donations. While they certainty have attracted large donations from the unscrupulous, the only benefit it confers is a PR boost for the autocrat or crime lord in question. As all these credits go right back into helping the needy, the Juntag firm does not vet its patrons. The entire advisory board is pro-bono, and consists mostly of former firm physicians that have moved on to more lucrative practices.

QT-77 is a surviving member of the limited astromech series, QT. The unrealeased prototype was chosen for their adorable ball shaped chassis, and their navicomputer, consistent with the starship functionality of the beloved and familiar R series used during the war.

QT-77 is a recovered QT model, salvaged and restored by Numa Raltz, who struggled with a host of social anxiety issues. After reactivation, it was consulted on what it wanted in it’s upgraded equipment suite, and chose a standard tool kit to spend time with it’s mechanically mind master. It’s loyalty and affection has helped her immensely on her journey to become a Jedi Knight.

LEGALITY
Legal. Astromech droids are permitted in most regions of the Galaxy.

INTENT
Reskin of the BG series, intended to represent the unique flavor of droid owned by Numa Raltz.

ADVANCED TECH
