In light of the recent Space Carnie thread fiasco I hope this one will do a little better. Although I expect, accept, and want criticism, question, comments, compliments...basically anything with the ca- sound. :P

Most of our characters are Jedi, Sith, soldiers, assassins, or bounty hunters. Most of them have a lot of money or are provided with meals by the organization they belong to. A lot of our characters were once in the slums, poor, hungry, and/or homeless. They were once there, but they have now moved up surviving the horrible life they once knew. But whatever happened to those places? Did they just disappear after Venator, Kamyrn, or Issan left them. Probably not. Those slums are still there. On Coruscant, Nal Hutta, Corellia, Nar Shaddaa and so on. In those slums there are those who have no one to take care of them. They could be young children or teenagers. No matter what their situation is, most of them can't survive on their own. They must form groups of those with similar problems or backgrounds. There are different words for these "groups": Families, clans, even bands (as in a Robin Hood's Band of Merry Men), but for our purposes, we'll call them gangs.

That's my idea. I'm not sure if these could be considered as "factions" on the Other Factions thread in the Independent Factions section, but I'm probably getting ahead of myself there. :)

Remember, criticism, comments, questions, and compliments!

Well, the Sontrebren Crew was a gang before it was destroyed and I've used gangs in some of my character's histories (namely Vorin), but I'm not really feeling the whole idea of playing part in a gang. The scope is a little too small for my tastes. Not only is it not even planet wide, but it would be like playing a beggar. What you do has no effect on anything. Sure you might take ten people with you to jump a Hutt soldier for credits or something, but if you do that then you would be assimilated.

What does your faction have to offer for their lives? How would they make their money (though this one is obvious)? Where are they confined to? And what would make someone want to join?

We have them. The Raider's Coalition is basically a gang, just bigger.

While I enjoy the fact that others are thinking 'outside' the box, I just think Space Carnivals would be more interesting.

I guess you could call the Old Breed a gang.

Not a bad idea, but personally, I'd come up with a more concrete idea. If it's a band of ne'er-do-wells, or a group of merry men, or whatever, they need to have a true to life purpose.

Okay I'm going to ignore that last part. Anyhow...The Raider's Coalition isn't a gang. I doubt Venator Furtficus is gang member. Highly doubt it.

For their lives...survival. Most of these kids/teens aren't going to survive by themselves. They could starve or get killed, but if they work together and put their talents together to get food and the necessities of living. Money wise...pickpocketing and such. Although they could just steal the stuff they need. As for shelter they could use the countless wharehouses and empty buildings in the Lower Levels of Coruscant. And to answer your final question, it would be a different experience for everyone. A new kind of adventure.

There life purpose would be to escape the slums they are forced to live in. To move on to better places in life. Its the same thing we say a lot of our characters have experienced but that we've never actually rp'd about.

Thanks. I actually think the space carnie thing wouldn't be a bad idea, but the idea is taking a lot of heat. If you can get it off the ground, I'd create a character for it.

It's not taking heat.

People just felt like making fun of it.

I'd still need two other people in the faction to make it official

Anyways, this idea would be good if we had like years to RP it out. And if we had enough people willing to be in it.

Effectively, yes, Venator is a "gang" member. The Hutt Empire is a coalition of "gangs". Before he was what he was in the Hutts, he was an Alsakan Admiral and leader of the Raider's Coalition, so he's been a "gang" member longer than a member of the Hutt Empire.

There used to be more gangs, then Mulluns and I decided that they were competition to the Hutts.

And I killed off the rest.

Now we give IC permission for some groups to exist, unless they're in a non-commercial or non affiliated trade.

I believe this counts as not commercial/non trade.

It'd also need to be not against the Hutts if you want me not to kill the group. =P

Additionally, I don't get what you mean mentioning Venator in this.

I was just mentioning a few characters who lived at one point or another in the slums or such.
