Felix glanced at the two men that Sif introduced trying to make out what they were doing before turning your attention to back to the woman

"I'm felix" he introduced himself after she had done, not wanting to be rude whilst she thought about her answer to his question.

though the old woman's reply to his question didn't exactly inspire confidence in Felix, though it did make him reflect on what are the jedi and what their role is. He was taught they were defenders and healers, were they not always this, did they seek out evil to destroy it? he sat there in quiet contemplation until the forgotten returned.

Roland looked a little more directly at Indy but she must have been distracted by something and not heard his earlier question. At least the somewhat familiar members of the group seemed to make their way inside after the doors opened. The Lieutenant rested a hand on his holster.

Inside there were numerous people and oddly in a peaceful state given what chaos was occurring around the cliff bound temple. Locals of Dathomir were rumored to be witches. Coupled with the visage of a phantom led the Mandalorian to believe there was more to the legends than most would believe.

Max was the closest and went inside to inquire without hesitating. Really going for that 'spring the trap' method. Roland stepped inside but kept to the edge of the room. Instead of looking to closely at the people, the Mandalorian looked around the room to see if there were doors and hallways that led to other areas.

The door had opened and what lied inside their mysterious temple was not any dangerous creatures, but instead what looked to be monks. Behind her mask, Maeve frowned, she thought it would have been more exciting to fight off a dangerous creature, instead their journey was only bringing her more questions, curiosity and in the least, confusion. She followed the older Jedi inside walking past the still bodies as the elder Jedi tried to gather the attention of one to figure out what they were all doing here. For a moment her attention was drawn to the hall itself, making note of any symbols or alters that could give them a clue as to what this place was.

Clearly unamused by the Jedi's tactic, Maeve touched the Force, looking to gather any information she could that could not be necessarily seen. She crouched down in front of one of the robbed individuals and placed a palm on their cheek, her blackened fingers were a deep contrast against the monk's pale skin. "Are they in a stasis?" she questioned out loud, hoping another would confirm. If they truly were, when was their time to be brought back to the present. More importantly, where these individuals truly Nightsisters.

She looked around to see if the spirit had followed, "Or is this the doing of that spirit."

Hannibal and Helen would travel through the cave unimpeded, swallowed up in darkness. It would seem like it stretched on for a very long time before they reached a much larger room. It was almost as if it had once been the lair of some large, flying creature and there was an exit high up in the distance where the creature came and went.

At the far side of the room, there would be a doorway with another door to their right.

In fact, it was possible that they would see some familiar faces emerge from that door to their right after a moment.

Through that door and down the hall, were the pair of Padawans and their unusual hosts.

Oh, well, if you two aren't going to eat then you should get moving along. She'll be looking for you before long, the woman said, motioning to the door that she now opened. It would lead to the large open room with the other Jedi and Lepi.

---

The room was expansive and there were many people gathered inside. The one that Max approached said nothing at first but a moment later he turned to look at the Jedi Master, though it would have been as accurate to say that he looked through the Jedi. The man seemed to have a thousand yard stare with a glazed expression, though it was directed at the Jedi.

Likewise Maeve would find the woman whose face she touched, would look straight through her again.

The man who Maxims questioned spoke up a moment later in a monotone voice.

We stand ready to defend, he said cryptically, though the exact explanation for the meaning was anything but clear.

As Roland looked around he would see that there were several rooms shooting off to the sides into hallways. At the far side of the room were a pair of massive statues of women with similar facial markings to that of the ghostly woman and between them was a small door.

-THEME-

She had barely ducked out of the way of the blinding flash. But the sound she wasn't prepared for; she gave out a muffled growl of pain as it battered abused eardrums, blinking away the few bright spots that impeded her vision. Everything sounded muffled, almost underwater. But as he began blindly lashing out, she slung out one of her vibroblades hard towards his chest, fully intending to take advantage of his blind rage and not give him a second chance to strike remotely in her direction.

She then aimed another trio of shots, this time to his lower torso and legs, and moved again, but it kriffin' hurt. She huffed out in agony as abused flesh screamed in protest; she couldn't keep ducking and dodging forever. Once he was free of his blindness, she had no doubt he would come close to assault her from close range.

The Sith were sadistic karkers. They loved to torture, and torture up close and personal. This was approaching her limit. She wouldn't be able to keep him occupied for much longer, not with how everything burned and wrecked even her steel nerves. She had no idea she had backup of a sorts, so focused was she on her opponent and surviving.

With the onslaught of Force lightning and the use of her body as a literal shield against flashing vibroblades, Trini, tenacious as she was, couldn't last long. As the Sith flung her up to parry the thrown dagger, the little Amaran's strength finally failed her, her hands and jaws relaxing enough that the momentum of the gesture sent her flying, thudding into a nearby wall and sliding down into a heap on the floor. Arcs of Dark Side energy continued to play over her limp form even for a few moments afterward.

Trini was not slain, but for the moment at least she was down for the count. Despite it all, however, she had never actually lost consciousness; her vision blurred and her head swam as her body trembled, the little Amaran struggling to make her way back to full lucidity, refusing to give up the fight, even if it was doubtful she could still do anything useful.

Malleus waited outside as the Jedi and Mandalorian opened the gates and went inside the structure. Even waiting for Maeve to go first before slowly coming after them. They bore witness to a group of robed figures that seemingly ignored them and the distant look in their eyes almost made him question the fact could these figures even see them ? The doubt was brushed away when one of the men actually answered Jedi's question. To defend ? Defend what ? Though these particular figures didn't give any signs of possibly engaging the group in a hostile way Malleus's eyes narrowed under his hood at the thought of a possible attack. He toyed around for a second with the idea of just throwing himself in the middle of the cloaked figures and slaughtering them where they stood but decided to let that go for the moment.

Though he remained silent for most of the trip ever since they joined up with the Jedi the Zabrak finally spoke. ''Maeve.'' he called out to the smaller Sith woman in front of him not wanting to even have to talk to the Jedi. ''You should what's behind there.'' he said as his eyes stared at the small door on the far side of the room, though his mechanized voice didn't sound commanding so much as the statement sounded more 'comrade-like'. He was sure she'd realize that he suggested this to her simply because it would be hard for Malleus's body to get crammed through there. ''Perhaps take the Jedi woman with you...''

Well the fact that they actually spoke was both reassuring and concerning at the same time. It was bad because of what they actually said – they were both vague and ominous, which was a terrible combination in his experience. What clues they had given them pointed to this whole thing being much bigger than any of them likely expected. He nodded to the Sith woman who had gotten closer to check on one as well.

But if it was a bad thing that they were able to speak to them, it came with the bright side that they were able to speak to them. Stuff could be two things, especially when it came to the spooky. He sighed a little bit and looked around at the people dressed as monks, checking to see if they shared any identifying features that would help him figure out who the hells they were.

“Well thanks for answering.” He started with a grin, “Mind answering me this though; are you guys the people who answered the Call before us? Or are you locals?”

He hoped they were friendly locals at least.

“Indy, scout ahead with the Mando. Me and Miss Mask will quiz these guys.”

Corran was being dragged to safety by his entourage, but they weren't alone in the hallway, and she couldn't hold it out for much longer. Though she had practiced, trained almost nonstop since Kai's 'disappearance', even rage wasn't sustainable. Which was why when she saw the small Amaran's body slump off the Sith's arm, she saw her chance.

Gathering the Dark Side to her, she lashed out hard in an aggressive jet of flame towards the Sith's uncovered face and upper torso, the alchemy of it lashing forward hungrily to devour at the target's flesh, bones, anything it could reach. The moment the plume left her hand to race towards the Sith, she Pulled the Amaran... well...

More like dragged her limp body with aggressive speed...

to snag her and bolt for the doorway. If she was successful, she would tuck the small female's body in her free hand, and make her way back into the doorway, intending to lock it behind her and, for a moment, catch her breath and stall the Sith witch. Corran was out of the way, that was the more important thing. If, however, the Sith Witch was going to make her life difficult, she would have no qualms turning her into a pile of cinders.

But she, herself, couldn't hold out forever, no matter how much rage she felt burning within. Their only option, it seemed, would be to charge headlong into the Sith(with an injured Ranger, a reckless and idiotic notion of unknown quantities), or defend from the stairwell, and prepare for Lorcan's reported gunship assault. There was little she could really do to prevent that... but she now knew the Sith woman's face who hurt her beloved.

Now that she knew it, that woman would never find a safe place to hide in the galaxy again. Ilana would be sure of that.

Vision was fading. The scorching tendrils had finally reached to the tips of his fingers and the very soles of his feet. There was no muscle in his body not lashed with pain. Arms had lifted him from the floor but each jostle, each shuffle, felt like daggers stabbing into his flesh. Daggers. The knife-wielding Sith. She had defeated him. Worse yet, he had led others in danger and had failed them. Others now had to drag him from danger; risking themselves for his own vain bravery. The emotional pain began to conflict with the physical. Which one would eventually end up hurting worse was a question for the future.

Corran’s comm cackled to life. A familiar gruff voice warned, "Be advised we have an enemy gunship in the air! I repeat, there is an enemy gunship. Doc, Corran, if you're reading this don't try and make a break for it - you'll be gunned down."

It was loud enough for others to hear. Parched, pained lips subtly parted to speak, “Lor….can?” Pain slashed up his throat. The furious struggling and writhing had stilled as it became too unbearable to move. Exhaustion, as the body fought against the strain, began to take hold. Out of one, half-lidded eye, the blond youth could see they were back in the stairway leading up from the basement. Even it was growing fainter.

A fiery inferno in his arms, legs, chest, his very veins, commanded him to squeeze his eyes closed in torment. To finally shut the lights out. Was this death beckoning him? A single blue eye fought back against the darkness, refusing to shutter completely. “Fa…lynn…” Corran rasped, clear suffering in his voice, “Bast… Tri…ni…” The names he couldn’t die for. There was so much left to do. “Il...Ilan…na…” Fingers clenched onto both Bast and the Zeltron woman’s arms as he fought to keep conscious. “…Mom.”

In their arms, the young Ranger went limp. Unable to cope with the pain, his body had finally forced him into unconsciousness. Defeated by a toxin he couldn't understand and an enemy he hated.

Darmus hadn't even seen the grenade yet when the Jedi came into action and smashed the little thermal detonator between the floor and a slab of the ceiling. He was beginning to feel more useless than he normally did. There was just no way he could hope to advance, for if he came close to the corner the Sith would pull him in and open him up to a barrage of automatic blasterfire not ever the legendary Darth Vader could survive.

Outmaneuvering him by simply going back up and taking another staircase down was an option, but as Corran made clear there wasn't a way down that wasn't defended by these Sith. So what could Darmus do? Logic dictated that if the rangers sealed off all the exits just like how the Sith were sealing off all the entrances, then it would simply become a waiting game that the citizens of Coruscant were bound to win. No one went into a plan this aggressive without an exit-plan, though, and that's the part that Darmus feared. What else was connected to the basement on this level? What was their target?

Looking back, Darmus rushed towards the nearest panel, took out his datapad and plugged it in. "Why didn't I think of this before?" he chastised himself, "I don't even need to bypass security, just-" his datapad showed the 3D imagery of the hallway with Sirius and his two friends. "Jedi, look!"

His next step was definitely frowned upon, but if the Sith were tapping into their servers then this might just help track them down. Darmus plugged his own creation, the SM Dataplague into the server. All he needed was a minute or so and the plague would infect every device the Sith would plug into the ranger's data fortress, making it possible for Darmus to track them way into the Unknown Regions and to their illusive Eternal.

Defend? Well that sounds ominous. He thought to himself as he paced around the edge of the group slowly. His helmet only turned enough to stare down the acdjacent halls and rooms. The Mandalorian touched the wrist controls to change his vision modes from visible light to infrared and then low light before back to normal with each room. It was a habit, to want to clear any unfamiliar place. The hairs on the back of his neck were raised.

Doubting he would find anything other than darkness and rock past the side rooms, Roland found himself before the large door, staring up at the statues. It reminded him of the Statue of Tarre Vizsla in a way. No doubt the people here had reverence for the figures, but with what little Roland knew of Dathomir he couldn't entirely fathom what what might lay beyond the small door.

Taking a deep breath and saying a silent prayer to the forgotten gods of Mandalore, Roland approached the door. Making sure nobody was immediatly behind him, he would try to open it. He couldn't just stand around and be a witness to everything that was happening either. Maybe they wouldn't find anything of note and they could search the other rooms a bit more. But the reason the Ranger had even asked a prayer was because he doubted he was that lucky.

It seemed Max wanted her to go with Roland, but the Sith... wanted her to go with his companion? Worried Extra Crispy can't handle herself? That's a new one... she thought to herself, sighing.

Internally, she knew it wasn't wise to just saunter on in to an unknown temple, into unknown danger, but what choice did they have? They couldn't just leave now, and it was too late to turn tail and walk away. It was a lure, and everyone else was going in. She trotted to keep up with Roland, careful not to be right on his heels, but lighting her lightsaber and keeping it down in a defensive pose.
"Hold up," she spoke up behind him, strides long to keep pace. Something told her it would be better to keep in pairs than go alone.

Just in case.

But he was already moving ahead. She didn't have time to puzzle over the cryptic words just yet; but there was something in the air. Something that hummed louder the deeper she went in with the Mandalorian. Not just anticipation anymore, but something else. But maybe there would be answers... or maybe not.

Who even knew anymore.

@Salek Fallanai would find himself, alone, but on the easiest path. He would travel for what seemed like far too long before finding himself at another door, though this one was made from stone instead of durasteel. Set in the door were three holes. The left and right hole were occupied by kyber crystals while the center was empty.

Behind this door would be what the group was seeking, though unbeknowst to Salek his friends would be fighting for their very lives. If he could get the door to open he could save them, but every second he did not they drew closer and closer to an untimley demise.

Would the force guide him, or would he fail? Only time would tell. Tick tock, Mister Fallanai. Tick. Tock.

Salek ran a hand through his muck-splattered hair, then wiped it off on the wall next to the door. Of course he would get the puzzle. He tried to sense through the door to see what was on the other side, but nothing. More wards.

He lowered his head and focused, flexing all of the Force sense he could into the door in front of him. He could sense two objects that resonated strongly with the Force, and his fingers brushed over what felt like crystals. There was a third spot where the smooth surface felt a little strange, and his fingers found a third hole between the other two.

"I should have paid more attention to safe-cracking class," he muttered to himself with a small chuckle. At least right now he couldn't feel the life signatures closing in around them, although not knowing what was coming was pretty nerve-wracking as well. But it was a fear he was long acclimated to. His ears would warn him in plenty of time. Okay, time to think.

The kyber crystals suggested that they were in the right spot for a Force-user. The best-case scenario he could imagine was that this was the lab of the Sith maniac who had released this plague, and that he was screwing around somewhere instead of waiting to kill Salek.

A loud boom shook the walls around him, and the Jedi gulped. That probably wasn’t good news for the other Jedi. Focus time.

Three holes, two with khyber crystals. The obvious choice would be to take apart his lightsaber and slot in his crystal. But it wasn’t much of a lock if it was that obvious, and any Jedi could waltz right in. He used the Force to pull at the back of the hole and at both crystals to see if anything was loose. He also pressed gently on the crystals to see if they gave inward at all. He spread his awareness through the door’s interior, looking as intently as he could for any flow or channel of energy, any irregularity that could give a clue about the door’s mechanism. Hopefully the others were having more luck than he was.

Even a mask could not cover the surprise Maeve felt when the woman before her gave some resemblance of life. She had to stable herself for a moment as she retracted her hand and then stood up, hearing a monk speaking of defending. The dark woman turned to look at the elder Jedi, the confused expression on her face could not translate behind the protection of the mask. Her attention though was drawn to her crackling companion, suggesting for her to go with the Jedi woman. Maeve was not one to follow such orders if it weren't in her interest.

She stood motionless for a couple uncomfortable seconds, "Make sure no one else enters, we don't need anymore surprises." she told the zabrak (@Malleus). Besides, temple exploring was something she found rather dull, instead the exploration of the mind or witchery that presented itself here within these monks piqued her curiosity far better. She watched as the other Jedi and Mandalorian continued further into the temple, she carefully snaked her way between the bodies to Max and the monk who had spoken. He had begun to ask more questions, hopefully there were some responses that would not be useless. It was in her experience that she should expect more cryptic responses.

The man that began to take the brunt of the questioning, continued to stare off absently, but the answer he gave was unlikely to be the one that they expected.

Why should I answer you? he simply asked. They had barged in and hardly looked friendly. Or perhaps it was someone else putting the words in his mouth.

You who would join your enemy to see us undone. Such fear. Or hatred, he said. Neither of which were acceptable for a Jedi. Perhaps with numbers on their side, the Sith would opt to make their move. Or perhaps not.

Roland and Indy would be able to walk down the path unobstructed until they reached the end of the hall. Another room, this one far smaller, and containing carvings all over the walls. In the center, the ghostly woman was there once again.

What would you do to protect the galaxy? she asked.

A Knight and an enforcer of laws, she said, though neither had told her their professions.

Defenders, are you not? she asked. @AutoFox @Mr. Teatime @Killa Ree @GABA @Six @Lavi @Darasuum @christhebarker @Nefieslab

Roland walked down the hall, in no particular hurry. But his helmet continued to pan as they went deeper into the temple. The spectral woman's reappearance made the Mandalorian hesitate for a moment, thinking he may have triggered something on accident. But she just spoke.

Not sure if the ghostly woman was real, he turned to look at the carvings a little and then at Indy. She had more experience with archeological subjects and would have been reassured if she had been popping info and idle curiousity. But the lack of her commentary just reinforced the seriousness he felt laying on the situation.

He wasn't sure how to answer phantom's question at first. Seeing as I'm living in it, and just about everything and everyone I care about... Roland had didn't know his biological family, he left his adoptive family, he was a lieutenant that still believed the law wasn't everything despite his adherence to it. But he knew that there were good people in the galaxy. If this was something like 'galactic life' she was talking about, Roland didn't think he mattered enough to even make that much of a difference in the grand scheme of things. "I'd give just about anything." Not that he had much of value.

Part of being a Jedi meant sacrifice, somewhat unfortunately. Though older sects were far harsher than the Order of today, she stood firm with those beliefs. Even if some of them she questioned, or had concerns with. Even though if some of them didn't agree with how she lived her life, she still followed them and made adjustments in her life for them.

Like Roland, she looked to the carvings, trying to find something similar. But she didn't speak, not right away. The ghost there knew things, it seemed, things that a common witch perhaps wouldn't. There was more to this than met the eye. She was certain there would be answers soon.

Like Roland, there wasn't a hesitation to her answer. She still held her lightsaber, staring at the ghostly apparition with golden eyes, calm and withdrawn. One thing she had learned as an archeologist, history often repeated itself, or revealed itself. Battered by time, but still there.

"I would do anything to protect the galaxy," she affirmed, standing beside Roland, posture tall. And it was true. She wasn't particularly a warrior, but she wouldn't say no to a cause to defend the many that lived in the galaxy. That was part of being a Jedi.

Ladies first indeed. Hannibal followed into the cave behind Helen, glowrod out before him to shine light higher up. He actually preferred this considering it would probably be easier to react to some random crazy nonsense than if she was behind him in the tight quarters. He looked around the cave, and found it... Well, unremarkable. It was a cave, for the most part. Hannibal looked up into the rooftop hole, grimacing at the thought of why that could possibly be there. He didn't like it much.

But what really drew his attention was there doorway. His eyes shifted to it almost automatically as it opened. The young Jedi tilted his head toward it and looked inside.

"Yo! Anyone in there?" he shouted through, sensing what he was pretty sure were other life within but unable to see them as of yet. Not that he was gonna wander into a random creepy doorway, but he would walk closer to it and see if he could get a better look within.

Oho?

They were getting sassy now and he liked it! It was a sign that they weren't fully brainwashed or controlled. In his experience, things that were controlling people tended to think humour and sass were kind of not required. Maybe they were, maybe they weren't - but it did make spotting them a little bit easier. This though? He was almost beginning to believe that the people here were of their own free will, even if what had brought them down here initially hadn't been benign.

Max sat down in front of the man who had spoken to him, smiling slightly as he rested his saber staff over his knees without either of it's blades active or even in a threatening position if they were to be activated.

"Because I'm asking questions so that I can understand."
he reasoned back calmly, "I'm not throwing myself in a fight with you or the Sith. All I want to do is understand what is happening here. If it is benign, if it is something that the Force wills, I will either do nothing or even, perhaps, aid it. If it threatens the Galaxy or the lives of anyone within it...?"

His smile became slightly sad.

"Then I will do what I must to prevent it. Can you help me to understand it? Please?"
