The Killik have the great and the good worried indeed.
This has never been more obvious than at the ongoing meeting between thousands of galactic powerbrokers in deep space on a non-descript space station. I got wind of the event, to which the press had not been invited, through a source in a delegate's personal staff. She sounded worried.
My source says that representatives from the Consortium, Alliance, Empire, Republic and even the Corporate Sector are in attendance. Whilst this isn't unheard of, there's more; the Sith and the Jedi are reportedly attending simultaneously.
It's only been a short while since the Killik appeared, popping up across the galaxy and seeing destruction follow in their wake. Such a seismic threat to the galactic order had evidently got the powers that be concerned, with huge offers being made from across the delegations, expected to result in the most extensive cross-government intervention in history.
Even a ceasefire between the Jedi and the Sith Empire is rumoured to have been agreed upon. Whilst reports continue to circle that this is proving hard to enforce, it shows the severity with which the Killik incursion is being viewed.
From my estimations, this may be the largest gathering of the galaxy's governments in generations. Clearly, their keen to get back to killing each other as quickly as possible, something the Killiks have presented quite the obstacle to.
With MegaCorporations offering their services across devastated worlds, we'll watch with interest to see what they want in return. We'll set the stopwatch to see how long this intergalactic ceasefire lasts.
However, from what my sources reveal, we expect two significant developments from the back of the assembly. Firstly, I understand a phial of the formula used to induce people into the Killik hive has been made available, presumably enabling a more direct effort to provide a cure. However, there remain unanswered questions about what else this formula could be used for if it falls into unscrupulous hands.
Secondly, a collective military response is expected to be announced at the conclusion of the meeting, with the combined forces of the galaxy's major powers intending to launch a counter-offensive on the Killik incursions.
We shall watch the resolution of the assembly with great interest.
