Zt7: Retrieval complete. The spike is in place and transmitting. Command should be receiving the latest updates on Galaf’s Imperial briefing.

A6: Well done. Drop it as normal. And I assume one Mr. Herald is unaware of the spike?

Zt7: Naturally.

A6: Good. Return to RV Epsilon and await reassignment.

”They sat up in the treeline, picking us off one by one. By the time our commander realized the error, it was too late.”
- Private Feil Nugjen

The Galactic Freedom Movement, known commonly as Galaf, is a largely radicalized insurgent organization based on the remnants of the Accord, Republic, and various displaced individuals that began some time in the last five years following the occupation of said factions. The group seems completely focused on disrupting Imperial operations in the Outer Rim, specifically in the sectors surrounding their former base near Christophsis. While it is impossible to determine the exact number of attacks perpetrated by them, it has become clear that this group needs to be dealt with to ensure security in the sectors production of war materials.

”There were anywhere between a dozen and a hundred. They just kept disappearing into the brush and regrouping.”
- Sergeant Ryce Tiken

We have been unable to determine specific information on the organization of Galaf, although intelligence has compiled a rough outline of their chain of command.

Each rank is sequential, following a linear path down without specific specializations. Our best guess is that there are specialized units within the cell, but those are either unofficial, or that each unit regardless of specialization is a soldier at the base level. The Commander, as best we can tell, is the cell leader and primary coordinator.

(I am. -Bria)

Data compiled from known engagements with the group shows that their personnel seem capable of piloting starfighters and engaging in ground combat. During their raid of the mining facility in the Anrago asteroid belt, the enemy starfighters were forced to land on one of the outlying depots. When the acting commander ordered the local garrison to clear them out, they were met with heavy, trained resistance, including the unforeseen presence of several mounted repeaters, likely specially stowed in their starfighters.

(Bingo. Managed to strip down the nonessentials and jam those puppies beneath the cockpits. Especially handy in situations just like this one. -Aeralia)

Several other raids are suspected to have occurred via the use of starfighters as the insertion method.

”The, uh, transport I was working on was attacked by them once. Our picket didn't stand a chance. They spaced my commander. I’m not sure why they spared me. ”
- Ensign Terrence Gillen

Tactically, Galaf utilizes a wide array of guerilla and pirate tactics to achieve its goals. Hit and Runs, Raids, Hijackings, Sabotages, Insurrections, Assassinations, are all attributed to the group. I've taken the liberty of describing some of their more… unconventional tactics below.

  • Conducted with a squadron of Starfighters and at least one capital vessel, the maneuver requires that the rebels know the exit point of an Imperial starship, usually a transport. Once the ship exits hyperspace, a small transmitter buoy alerts the enemy task force. Their capital ship, either a corvette or a frigate in the case of Galef, jumps as close to the transport as possible and begins firing. As the battle ensues, a squadron of starfighters jumps onto the battlefield near the transport’s flank. There, it's easy to disable the transport’s engines and force them to surrender, or to board the vessel while they attempt to cover themselves.

(This works surprisingly well. Even if the imps know we’re going to use it, most of their commanders are too focused on the front to bother checking their other vectors until it’s too late. If they do decide to cover their flank, it’ll just leave them exposed to the cap. It’s a lose-lose. -Slingshot)

  • It's difficult to determine the specifics of this tactic, but we’ve managed to compile the basics together. Essentially, a rebel ship equipped with escape pods is positioned outside planetary sensor range. A team of insurgents then enters the pods, and are launched at low power on a pre-planned trajectory towards the planet. Our sensors are unable to detect the floating hunks of metal unless the sensor operator practices extreme diligence, and the insurgents are able to make planetfall in their makeshift drop-pods.

  • A misdirection tactic where cell members are given conflicting intelligence usually laced with half-truths and lies obscured by misinformation. These cell members are purposely placed into compromising positions, usually around out of the way garrisons and backwaters where a large imperial presence isn’t found. The information is given to our own soldiers, who follow protocol and send the information to the ranking officer. Shortly after, a raid or rescue operation is conducted, and the agent is extracted.

  • A fairly complex, but useful tactic if used correctly, that involves two teams advancing on different objectives. The first uses stealth against a decoy, usually a garrison or vehicle bay, and plants explosives along the exterior. The second team waits until the first team has confirmed their objective, then proceeds to theirs, usually a power sub-station, orbital battery, manufacturing plant, or other high-value target. The team begins their sabotage as normal, with the first team waiting at a safe distance. If the second team comes under fire, or is captured, explosives are detonated, causing the garrison’s forces to split while the first team uses the opportunity to offer support to the second.

  • A simple, but effective, tactic that uses a planet’s gravity and a ship’s built-in failsafes to the terrorist’s advantage. A rebel ship plots a hyperspace jump at the center of a planetary mass from a point in space roughly facing their target. Then, they engage the hyperdrive as normal. When their hyperdrive kicks them out of hyperspace, they’ll exit extremely close to the planet, giving our ships little time to intercept. Although, the tactic tends to show up very clearly on our sensors.

Known Members

While many of the organization's rank-and-file have managed to fly below our radar, we have managed to compile dossiers on several of the movement’s key figures.

  • ZqKTgU4.png

Very little is actually known about the leader of the cell. Several soldiers have reported encounters with this mysterious figure, but they seem to contradict each other. It’s possible that he or she is a former ranking officer of the Republic or Accord, although it is unknown how many survived the Battle of the Void or the Battle of Chandrilla respectively. Regardless, what we do know is that he or she is highly skilled in both aerial and ground combat, and should be treated with caution. Capture should be a priority.

  • A skilled pilot from back before the formation of the Accord. She originally flew with the Skyline Cartel before its dissolution, then with the Dragons before they merged into the Accord, at which point she retired and became a bartender. Apparently, she left that behind after the Void was captured, and she’s been back in the pilot seat since. Given her skills and experience, she’s most likely leading the starfighters raids.

(Spectre Leader, to be exact. -Slingshot)

  • We honestly don’t have much about her. What we do know is that she used to run the Accord’s mechanical branch, and a recording we managed to salvage from the Accord’s facilities on the Void. She seems like a fairly cold, calculating, almost apathetic woman, although we don’t really have anything to confirm that. She’d probably be handling the cell’s materials, although there’s probably someone else handling personnel.

    (That… That’s not me anymore. - Aeralia)

  • I have absolutely no idea what to make of this guy. We dug up some of his old medical records, and he’s apparently a medical prodigy that started selling drugs to kids to make some cash before being busted by Republic Authorities on Coruscant, got out of prison early on time served, literally changed his first name to ‘Doctor’, then ended up just hauling to the Outer Rim. We can’t even tell why he’s working for the cell. It’s possible he resents the Republic for busting him, but he just seems too apathetic for that. We’ll update if anything else comes up, but I already, off the record, hate this guy.

  • No surprise here. Jarsin’s been on our radar for awhile now. Basically, he’s an anti-imperial mercenary. Professional as all hell, but he’s been hitting our people across various organizations for years now. Apparently, he’s shacked up with Galaf for the moment, but we’ll wait and see if they keep him on payroll.

  • We can’t seem to find anything about this one apart from the name, which indicates Chiss origins. In fact, we have been able to find so little, it’s actually somewhat suspicious. I’ll have my techs run some traces in the database.

  • A highly skilled, dangerous, and cunning force user. We have reports of her raiding our convoys and patrols after the fall of the Republic, and she just became more of a problem after that. The fact she’s actually joined a cause is troubling. I’m forwarding what we have on her to the Inquisition.

(That’s the only time i’ve heard anyone call Hareth cunning. -Bria)

  • We’ve managed to identify a sort of external benefactor contributing to the GALAF cell. We’re unable to determine if they’re actively involved in the operations of the organization, or if their support is purely political/monetary.

  • A career soldier; Former GAR from what we’ve managed to find in old Republic records. Military family, served in the Border Alliance as part of his planetary military before some massacre. He went into seclusion for a few years before coming back to the front line around the fall of the Republic. Looks like the Jedi weren’t exactly to his likings, so he joined up with the GALAF cell. Depending on his command skills, he could have the potential to be a thorn in Imperial operations in their sector of operations.

  • We believe that this is the codename of some kind of reconnaissance specialist, which is somewhat strange in itself. Galaf has been known to utilize a sort of sub-organization based out of the remnants of the Spectre Cell to gather intelligence for them. This agent, though, seems to be integrated into both their actual guerilla force and at least a portion of the Spectre Cell. We’ll see what else we can dig up on him or her.

  • The few records we have on him strongly suggest that he is a well-trained Force Sensitive. However, it is unlikely he is a former Jedi, as old Republic records fail to mention him in the slightest. We believe he hails from Alpheridies and came into contact with a former-Jedi. Intelligence is still trying to formulate a psych profile, so we’ll update when that becomes available.

  • Not much is known of this one. We believe he actively participates in guerilla operations, and that he was a member of the former Accord. Everything else seems to lead back to the Chiss Ascendancy, which our intelligence is sorely lacking in. Will update as more information becomes available.

  • This one seems to be another GAR soldier who isn’t able to tell that the war is over. According to old Republic SIS records, he and his team helped them obtain vital information time and time again during the war. We don’t currently know what he’s doing for GALAF but one thing is for sure: he’s going to be a major pain in our behinds.

  • The records are relatively complete on Jillian, and say that she’s a brilliant doctor. However, they also have incredibly conspicuous holes in them in which she simply disappears for lengthy periods of time. We’re assuming that said disappearances are due to her reacting to unknown failures in her medical career. Nonetheless, if someone of her skill is in league of GALAF, we should start expecting our enemies to start coming back from the dead, or something. Ugh.

  • Now this is a scary one, although wether he poses a greater danger to us or himself has yet to be seen. Del Valorous led one of the last major Republic remnant offensives against the Sith Empire. It would have worked, too, if we hadn’t had a second fleet in a neighboring system through sheer luck and good timing. Official records say he died along with his flagship soon after the battle, but photos have come up showing him all over former Republic territory; Coruscant, Chandrila, etc. We’re not entirely sure what he’s doing but it he’s not exactly subtle about his presence.

    Surveilance Log/Audio 101-c, Coruscant
“I AM REAR ADMIRAL DEL VALOROUS OF THE REPUBLIC NAVY. SALUTE ME, SOLDIER. WHY AREN’T YOU SALUTING ME. I WILL COURT MARTIAL YOU WHEN THIS WAR IS OVER. YOU HEAR ME? I WILL COURT MARTIAL YOU. NOW. SALUTE ME. NOW. GET ON IT SOLDIER. I’M STILL WAITING FOR THAT SALUTE, SOLDIER. TIME’S TICKING AND I’M STILL WAITING. I COMMAND YOU, AS REAR ADMIRAL OF THE REPUBLIC, SALUTE ME! THE SHEER DISRESPECT! HAS THE REPUBLIC FALLEN SO LOW? I DEMAND A SALUTE. NOW. I MEAN NOW. NOW.”

Yikes. Will update with more info when it’s available.

Known Assets

For the moment, the group seems to be confined to a single force of ships, with rough sensor reports indicating a heavily modified light freighter, a group of starfighters, two corvettes, and a frigate, with supplementary information coming in.

  • Their frigate appears to be a heavily modified Tayana-class. We don’t have any drive signatures for it on record, but markings on the hull do show some indications that it was used previously by a group known as the Fireflies, a sort of tribal force sect.

(The Fireflies are still using it, although they aren’t doing very well. Quite a few left after the Sith started raiding Accord-allied compounds, including theirs. Most are off somewhere in Wild Space, and the rest are with us running the Asylum under the command of Captain Dmia. -Aeralia)
  • kodJHQo.png

One of their corvettes is an older Republic Hammerhead-class Corvette. The markings didn’t set off any flags in our Database, so we can’t tell for sure which ship it is. Probably one of the mid-rim contingencies, or a loaner to one of the Republic’s patrons in the rim.

(This is completely wrong. The Moonbeam was actually stationed around Christophsis when the Imps attacked, but Commander Strome withdrew when the chain-of-command broke down. They conducted some hit-and-fade strikes following that, but were pushed out to the rim once the Sith really set up shop. Wasn’t long after that they joined up with us. -Aeralia)

The other corvette, a Piseas-class, was a type used primarily by the Accord, and while there were other units sold to various planetary defense fleets, it is safe to assume that this corvette is a former Accord vessel.

(The Wyvern, led by Captain Voz. We found them operating a guerilla group on Mon Gazza, hiding the corvette in one of the spice mines. -Bria)

  • The cell utilizes around two dozen starfighters, of various models, usually operating in irregular units with various types being represented. This gives their squadrons good flexibility in combat, but they tend to lack specialization.

(We usually operate two squadrons of ten each, which gives us a bit more versatility in combat. We’ve been gaining and losing ships over the past several years, with this being our current loadout:

Ten Guardian-Class Gunships from the Accord
Five Haleon-class Bombers that we we managed to fix and smuggle off of Corellia
Three Aeon-class Interceptors brought by former Republic pilots
Two Claw-3 Interceptors bought off the black market. -Aeralia)

  • There’s really no way for us to tell exactly how many people they have working for them. It could be anywhere between a dozen and a thousand.

(Nice to know our tactics are working. We only have around a hundred soldiers overall split between the ships. -Slingshot)
