DESCRIPTION
The FS-97 Linecutter is an aerospace superiority starfighter produced by Centrality Astroyards, an otherwise unremarkable starship manufacturer which mainly produces designs under license from other, larger manufacturers. One of the company's few original products, the FS-97 has proven a moderate success within the Outer Rim, although various political obstructions have prevented its official sale within Sith space.

The FS-97's name, Linecutter, refers to a line of battle, a common type of fleet organization. The ship is a shielded design, trading a hyperdrive and heavy weapons for extra durability in the form of light deflector screen which allows it to take a few extra hits. Armament consists of a pair of light laser cannons, as well as a 3-shot concussion missile launcher. Top speed is about 90 MGLT, and maneuverability is decent. In the event the shield should fail and the starfighter receives fatal hits, the pilot may make use of an ejection seat with an integrated survival capsule to escape.

The observed use of Linecutters by various Rebel cells has led to tensions between the Sith Empire and the government of the Centrality, where Centrality Astroyards is based. The company maintains that it has no knowledge of how its designs have wound up in the hands of outlaw groups, and Imperial investigations have yet to turn up any hard evidence of sales to such group, legal or otherwise. Indeed, the serial numbers of captured Rebel Linecutters do not appear to match any range used by Centrality Astroyards.

LEGALITY
Restricted. In civilized systems, pilots must be properly licensed or be members of recognized armed groups. Linecutters are notably banned from importation or private ownership within Sith space, limiting them primarily to outlaw ownership.

INTENT
To create a standard starfighter for Jedi/Rebel use.

ADVANCED TECH
No. FS-97 Linecutters are available, although being legally restricted makes them non-trivial for the average individual to own.
