Free Worlds Alliance

The Free Worlds Alliance (also referred to as simply the ‘Free Worlds’) is a loose trade organization of sovereign systems that comprises of a lot of worlds from the Colonies, the Inner Rim and the Expansion region. The Free Worlds Alliance is a separate entity to the New Republic and is represented separately in the Galactic Senate.

After the final death of Emperor Palpatine and the destruction of the Sith Order and First Order, the galaxy found cause for celebration but they knew it would never be the same again. The New Republic was still fractured from the war with the First Order, with its size greatly diminished. Many worlds that formerly encompassed the New Republic opted to stay independent, although the prosperous Core Worlds would still mostly fall firmly in the Republic and maintain close ties with other worlds. In the years that followed, the Free Worlds Alliance was then formed as a loose confederation of governments, including the Republic, for mutual benefit, with much of the organization’s power decentralized and addressing the weaknesses and downfalls of the old Galactic Republic and New Republic. The goal was to maintain peace in the galaxy and to make sure that tyrants such as Emperor Palpatine or anyone else never come to power again.

However with the formation of the Galactic Senate, the New Republic and Free Worlds have split off, and are now separate governing bodies.

The Free Worlds Alliance as it is a loose coalition of worlds under one body, rather than a centralized body like the New Republic, it does not have a leader of it's own. To moderate and keep Free Worlds senate sessions in order, a Speaker presides. This post has no political power and serves only to maintain order in senate sessions.
