He grinned down at Indy, pleased with the change in general mood. His eyes followed her own to to the window, taking in the passing sights as she asked where they were going. That was the real question, wasn't it? The ship wasn't the point, merely the transportation. They were, the two of them, flying away from the city to go somewhere special.

Hannibal had always seemed to thrive in cities and urban settings. That's where he did his work, swimming among the people of the galaxy in the population-dense worlds of the Outer Rim where corruption and struggle coloured every moment of daily life. He'd always seen life as a form of chaos, in a way, tempered by the order of society and people's interactions with one another. Life wasn't the way it was so often depicted in writing, or holofilms, or even in stories. Life is a messy thing, where even Jedi can't quite see the next thing coming. Exponentially messier when millions upon millions of people live stacked atop one another in metal towers on planets ruled by criminals and uncaring governments.

Certainly he did his best work in such places, well attuned the the ebbs and flows of the people, of the crowd. But that's not where he was most at peace.

The ship flew away from the city, rapidly picking up speed toward the vast hills and forests of Naboo. Hannibal smiled softly beside Indy as he looked out the window, then turned back to look at her.
"One of my favourite places. You'll see," he replied vaguely, smile edging up his face and eyes glittering with that familiar mischievous energy. He took another sip of his drink to pass a quiet second, then placed it back down on the bar.

"Theed is nice, but it's not even the best part of Naboo. I hope you like trees." He chuckled, as if at a joke only he knew, then waved somewhere behind him toward where the kitchen was. "We'll eat there if you don't mind waiting a little longer."

She chuckled quietly, perking a violet brow. "You're a man of many mysteries, you know. You work with someone for five years, and yet... there's so much to them that's a mystery." She glanced up at his features again. "Like what colors you like, or a favorite childhood memory. Loth cats or Kath hounds? Caf or tea? Why Naboo?" She spread her other hand to the view.

"I'd like to know you, Hannibal, if you'd want to tell me."

Hannibal laughed at Indy's comment about him mysterious, an almost musical sound much different from the barking and bombastic laughter only heard when he was fighting. The young man didn't actually laugh very often at all and even people who had known him for years may not have heard it. Most didn't give it much thought considering the way he was, but some occasionally noticed the quirk.

"A mystery, am I? That sounds like a job for an archaeologist. I'm partial to green, though I've lately reconsidered blue," he replied coquettishly, but then gave a more serious answer. "I like the bright yellow of wildflowers and sunlight, the deep green of tree leaves. The blues of oceans and bird wings and the night sky, the orange and purples as a sun rises and sets. Also, in order: Cats, both, and, uh..." He paused.

Why had he chosen Naboo again? Did he actually figure that bit out? There had to be something beyond whim, obviously, and he knew what whim really was for him. The conclusion he'd been steadily arriving at in the back of his head made him uncomfortable, but it was probably worth putting words to it to avoid more awkward misunderstandings. Yeah, totally.

"Well, yeah, I want to tell you. There are some places I can relax in more easily. Y'know what I mean?"

She grinned at his response; the tension he had from earlier was almost entirely gone now, even some of the nervousness, which she was grateful for. He had a nice laugh too; she didn't think she ever heard him actually laugh. It made her lips quirk in return, and golden eyes warm. "Blue's becoming a favorite, hmm?" she shot back teasingly, giving a quirked brow. "Fancy that." She felt like she should say something more, but left it at that, instead eyes taking in the rest of the surroundings. After he more or less confessed this was an acquired ship rather than one from immense wealth, she found herself relaxing, curious of the surroundings.

"I know what you mean..." she murmured, smiling faintly. "I feel the same way for a few places... Ajan Kloss was never home, but there were few places I could call home. Pantora was one, and Ord Cantrell..." she drifted off in thought, looking through the windows at the sunset, painting the luminous landscape.

"But I have to admit... it's beautiful here."

Indy looked out the window. Hannibal looked at her instead.

"It certainly is, isn't it?" he said absentmindedly before his eyes slipped back to the window. The sights passed by quickly, but the mixed light of the setting sun painted splashing hues overtop the serene countryside. Warm orange and yellow splashed with indigo and red painted themselves whimsically across the tops of trees and through the gaps in branches and blanketed the grass-covered hilltops in a fiery glow. The shadows grew long, the wind of the ship's passing rustling the tall grass and sending the little points of black dancing across the surface of the supple green blades behind them.

The Jedi Master fully relaxed as he considered the landscape, even his presence in the Force shifting. He was connected strongly and intimately with the Living Force, and as they moved farther and further from the cityscape of Theed his defenses fell from around him almost on their own. The Force passed through him like a gentle breeze, the soft and fleeting touch of a butterfly's wings as it passed one by. The young man smiled quietly at Indy's side. Home was a nice thing to come back to.

"I'm glad you like it. Home is where the heart is, right?" The ship was moving apace and would reach the spot soon. Hannibal hoped she liked it, too, and that he'd timed the flight properly. He hoped it would help her get to know him better than he could explain with words.

She could appreciate the beauty of the galaxy sometimes; beyond the city-planets, beyond even the grittiness of the Outer Rim, there were beautiful things about it that made living bearable. The silence of deep space as you hurtled through hyperspace. The glow of stars, the slipstreams of gliding on Bespin; the deep waters of Mon Cala, the sunlight glinting off the Jedi Temple walls of Ajan Kloss. She could appreciate these small things, but this?

This was no small thing.

She heard that Naboo was beautiful, but this was so much more than she expected. She felt Hannibal's eyes on her when he spoke, and lips quirked in a grin.
"You're not even looking at the landscape," she accused, but her voice was soft, a grin perched on her lips.

At his words, she chuckled.
"If that's the case, the entire galaxy is my home. Always finding new places that steal my breath away... new answers or glimpses into a past that seem almost impossible." She then slid her glace back to the surroundings, to everything else. "Five years ago I never imagined life could be like this. That I could find a place, a niche to settle into." Eyes slid back to him, giving a slight smile. "Sorry if I'm rambling, I just... don't know how to be quiet I guess."

"So? I've been here before. Haven't been here with you though, right?" he said back in a tone of mock defensiveness. He hadn't exactly spent his entire youth on Naboo, not by a long shot, but he was still familiar with it. Being close to Indy for things that didn't involve work was new and exciting and so drew his attention.

It was another few moments before he responded to her again all the same, briefly lost in that grand sense of everything.
"I like hearing about you. Don't worry about it." Obviously there were a number of things he could gather about Indy just by observing, like he did to everyone. Habits, likes and dislikes, so on. But it was enormously different for someone to just up and tell you the things they liked, or disliked. The things they feared or hoped for. That kind of openness was... Nice, he supposed. Hannibal sighed softly.

"The future is always a mystery, isn't it? Live in the moment, I say, and see where it takes you," he finally said. The ship began to alter course, steadily dropping altitude and turning to dip into the a wide, grassy valley spotted with trees and plants. The sun would set soon, its glow barely reaching around the surrounding hills. It seemed his timing had been right after all.

"Life is for the living, yeah?"

She glanced back over to him with a tender smile, and decided to do something she had wanted to do for a while.

She stepped in closer to the Master, and lightly put a hand on his cheek. A gentle touch, one of warmth, tenderness.
"It is. I've spent enough time in the past... but I want to spend it in the present. With you... as we are tonight. If you'd have me." Her voice was soft, quiet, as she stared up into his eyes, waiting.

Though really, she felt somehow she crossed a line she couldn't undo. Had she gone too far?

Indyana got close. Very close, with that smile of hers lighting up her face. She wanted to spend time with him. That was a good thing, right? The young man felt drawn to her, but something or other still kept it just far enough away. Always just enough, like that last step before the leap. In that moment, despite everything, he didn't know what to do.

When Indy's hand touched his face in that caring, intimate way, he froze. A flurry of thoughts and feelings ran through his head, things he still didn't feel like really speaking of. At the core of it beneath the pile of other things, though, was something that vaguely resembled fear. Not of Indy, really, not her gentle touch or her golden eyes. Of being that vulnerable to another person, of letting someone else understand him the way he already did. Was it worth it? He decided quickly enough. It really wasn't much of a choice at all. He was, after all, only human. A second passed and he relaxed again.

Hannibal smiled, wide and bright as his face lit up and he slipped his gloves with practiced ease. One hand slid over Indy's own, marked by colourful tattoos and old scars, the other pressing into Indy's cheek.

"I'd like that," he said simply, leaning forward to press his lips tenderly into her own. Or her forehead. Wherever it went. Either way, it was nice to be at peace for a little while. Maybe one day she'd know how much it meant to him.

It was a light kiss, a brush. Warm, gentle, she closed her eyes into it... and sighed softly.

A kiss to the forehead. For some reason... that was almost better than an actual kiss. It had taken so many of her nerves to come closer, but being touched, embraced that way, was tender in a way she hadn't anticipated. Warm in a way she cherished. She exhaled quietly then tilted her head up, giving him a warm smile again, brushing her thumb against his cheek.

"Thank the Force," she whispered, giving off a quiet chuckle. "I felt like I was going too fast."

Hannibal laughed along with Indy, finding the whole thing just a little bit funny. Jedi really had no experience handling this stuff, did they? Really just none at all. Hannibal certainly had no idea what he was doing or even really why, but he was happy in this moment and that was enough for the young Jedi.

"I couldn't honestly tell you what too fast is, Indy. I just know I like it when you're around," he whispered back, looking into her eyes from the close distance they'd found themselves at. He smiled at her and slipped his hand from her cheek, drawing closer and wrapping his arms gently over her shoulders and pulling into a hug. He really was glad she came. He didn't say anything else for a while, just held her there for some time.

Maybe being close to people wasn't so bad, even if he didn't really know what he was doing.

A series of pings from the kitchen and a warble from the droid pilot drew him out of his thoughts. He let go of Indy and turned away, walking into the kitchen. The echoes of an oven opening and a tray sliding off a grate and onto a countertop would reach the other Jedi, shortly followed by the smell of a mixed berry pie. Hannibal had almost forgotten about the pie.

Oh, also, they were about to land. His head popped out from around the corner of the kitchen.
"Sorry! We'll be landin' in a second, okay?"

He was warm. When his arms wrapped around her, her eyes closed, and instinctively she wrapped her arms around him as well, taking in a breath and just savoring the embrace for a moment. But at the sound he was gone, and she blinked, orienting herself again at his disappearance.

"Sounds good," she answered back with a small grin, then sighed, running a hand through her hair as she glanced out the window once again. Daylight was starting to dwindle fast, where was 'here'?
