Raxus Prime was an interesting world in that "not sure I ever want to go there" sort of way. With junk as far as the eye can see, Vizim expected the smell as he stepped onto the surface to be much worse. The more he looked around, though, the more he realized that "trash" didn't mean rotting food items but rather pieces of ships and scrap.

Well, that's a plus, he thought to himself with a shrug. The small team that had been deployed to purge Raxus's "problem" was made up of individuals he hadn't met before, but he assumed they were also chosen for a reason.

For his part, Vizim had worked for Lord Stolas before, most notably on Taris. As for why he was assigned on this particular operation: it was right up his alley. Tracking and hunting were the backbone of his career within the Sith. Much more so than an open battlefield or the backrooms of a political manipulation. Usually by himself but sometimes in a small group tracking someone or something was what he not only excelled at but also loved.

As the others disembarked, Vizim let his senses sweep out and over the area. There was a chilling sense that ran down his spine, but little more that he could tell from only a cursory evaluation. He had no doubt that whatever he was sensing was, in fact, what they were after.

As of recent it had become increasingly rare that Xiomara took jobs that worked directly for the Sith. Their operations had a tendency to go sideways and usually ended up with way more blood pooling on the floor than she would have liked. Of course, when it came to favors asked from her favorite cousin, Xio was always willing to make exceptions.

The job itself seemed.. different than most Sith ops, anyway, and required a finer touch than usually employed. Her critical eye and ability to hunt people down was likely the reason Stolas had asked her to accompany these other Sith, though her skills with technologies probably didn't hurt either.

As they departed the ship, Xio scanned the immediate area and found herself unimpressed. Raxus Prime lived up to its reputation as a junk world, that much was certain. As Xio's senses pushed out from the directly physical to more mystical, she could feel a presence in the force that seemed like it did not belong. It was sharp and frigid as it slowly enveloped her.

It was also entirely distinct, which should make it easy to follow. It also occured to her it might be like that on purpose, like one of those angler-fish on Manaan that lured prey into its gaping maw with a tantalizing light.

My mission report was frustratingly low on details, Xio said, looking to her compatriots. Do either of you know exactly what it is we should be expecting to find?

Malou was happy to have her feet planted firmly on solid ground, now that the three had exited the ship. The planet around her was filled with many, many details, most of which came from a variety of junk. It was probably more interesting to her than the others. But like the other two, Malou could feel the very obvious aura in the Force. It had a distinct presence on the planet, and Malou was immediately sure that following it would not be an issue. It reminded her greatly of Exegol and the darkness that had surrounded she and her master there.

Unlike the other two, Malou had not worked for Darth Stolas before. In fact, she'd never been out without her master, and she could count the number of words exchanged between her and Stolas on one hand.

"I was given nothing else but that there is a dark presence here," Malou would answer as she recalled what she remembered from the report. "I don't think the teams sent to restart production were given a chance to send back any reports."

The acolyte quickly made sure her blindfold was secured and her sabers were clipped to her belt before beginning forward. The station was not too far from where they'd landed, and Malou was headed towards it.

Vizim's eyes scanned out over the trash as far as the eye could see. Everyone was still acclimating themselves, and Vizim's hands ran instinctively over his pistol and saber before he started heading out.

No, the reports were as obscure as usual, he said. Nefarious source's been killing people. Very descriptive, he said. He saw no reason to delay and headed out in the front, his steps carrying them quickly in the general direction of the darkness.

The first obstacle they had to face was a river of what looked like liquid metal or lava. The heat rising off the surface was almost stifling when taking a breath, and Vizim came to a stop.

His eyes swept over the river and to the pieces of scrap along the "shore."

I'll hold that in place, he said, motioning to one of the larger pieces. With it as a halfway point, we should be able to jump across, he said, reaching out to the Force to grip the item and pull it out to the center of the heated flow.

Unfortunate but not surprising that neither of the Sith knew anymore about their mission than she did - oh well. Noticing Vizim taking the initiative to get them moving, Xiomara began to follow without saying much else. Hopefully the true nature of what they were seeking would make itself evident sooner rather than later.

As they approached the snaking river of roiling magma, Xio nodded at Vizim's suggestion. The smallest part of her brain told her that it was foolish to trust a Sith who wanted to seem helpful, but she ignored it for now. Xio was also confident she could kill both of her partners by herself, so there was that.

I'll go first and hold it for you when I reach the other side, she said to Vizim, before taking a running start towards the river.

With a graceful leap aided by the force, Xio landed on the piece of scrap with a single foot before launching herself again and hitting solid ground on the other side. Reaching out, she gripped the midway and nodded towards the others.

I've got it, Xio shouted, her open hand outheld. Her eyes scanning the flow, Xio could almost swear she saw something in its depths shift and change, as if something was bubbling just beneath and was getting ready to surface. She ignored it for now, assuming it was just the nature of magma - it's not like she was a scientist or anything. Although...

Quickly now. She said, keeping the curious worry out of her voice.

Malou studied the magma as Xiomara leapt across. It appeared a lot differently than water did. Once Xiomara called out for her and Vizim to follow, she took a few steps back, then ran. She jumped with the aid of the Force, used it to steady herself as she descended towards the midway scrap, then boost her once again to the other side. She would stand and wait for Vizim to follow through, ready to aid him should he miscalculate his jump.

Once everyone was across, she would turn to continue towards their destination. The facility laid a bit ahead, but it sat on top a hill. Where the junk ended and the ground started, even she could not tell. It was at least thirty feet tall, though slanted to a degree. Malou pressed her foot against a bottom bit and felt the motion shake through the pile. They would have to be careful if they wanted to climb without falling with the rest of everything. If they jumped, the pile might very well just collapse beneath them.

Vizim followed shortly after, leaping across and landing on the scrap before pressing off quickly again and landing smoothly on the other side. It had crossed his mind that he couldn't necessarily trust the others, but there really wasn't a lot of reason for them to kill him now. His death would only weaken their positions at this point.

As they continued onward, they reached a point where the trash became unsteady and he let his eyes sweep over the obstacle. He didn't see a good way to cross it, and he also didn't see anything that would be able to fly them over top.

We might have to... was all the further he got before a lava flea erupted from the ground just behind the group of Sith, hurling up the ground and knocking them all into the pile of unstable trash.

And it was only going to get worse. The trash gave way under their weight, and began to collapse inward, dropping them into a deep cleft along with the rest of the trash.

Raxus Prime was swiftly becoming one of the most detestable worlds Xiomara ever had the misfortune to visit. As the junk heap beneath her feet began to give way, Xio couldn't help but let out an audible gasp and a few choice curse words as she started to slide down into the cleft.

Grabbing at the refuse around her, everything seemed to be connected to nothing at all and Xio couldn't get a real grip on anything to try to slow her descent or pull herself up out of the sinking pile. Eyes darting around, she noticed a decent sized piece of sheet metal.

Reaching out with the force, Xio pulled the piece of metal towards her and under her feet. Maintaining her telekinesis on it, she stood up on the piece of metal and sort of used it like a flying surfboard. Looking around, she would help her compatriots should they need it, but she hoped they were at least skilled enough to save themselves from a heap of falling garbage.

Shit. Malou fell with the trash for a moment, desperately looking for something solid to stand on. Xiomara's save caught her attention, so the acolyte quickly tried to copy. She yanked the nearest piece of trash large enough to support her under her feet, and concentrated on pulling it towards her. She collided with it, sending a jolt up her legs as they impacted against each other, but she managed to succeed.

Malou quickly took note of the towering pile of trash around them, much of it still unstable and even more so because of the lava flea's appearance. She was glad it was metal scraps and electrical waste instead of actual garbage. They would probably have to try and climb it, or find some other way out.

This was a real garbage world. :) While the others seemed capable of pulling off smooth escapes, Vizim was half-crushed by a lava flea and that complicated matters significantly.

By the time he had managed to get himself out from under the flea, he was able to push off with both feet, propelling himself to the side with the Force, but there was no way he would manage to make it all the way back up to the top.

Instead, he ended up managing to land inside what looked like a half of a ship. As if the front of a ship had been ripped off and he was standing in a hallway that was supposed to lead to the cockpit, but now led to an empty drop into the chasm below.

He swore to himself before leaning out to look out at the others.

You all still alive up there? he shouted out when the cacophony of the falling trash finally came to an end. This was not how I thought today was going to go.

It was good to see that the Sith were creating agents that were capable of surviving surprises - Xio logging that little tidbit away for the next time she happened to receive a contract to take one out. You wouldn't think they'd come through the wire that often, but with their increased presence in the galaxy came increased want for them to be dead.

Spotting Vizim marooned in the hull of a busted up ship, Xio maintained her force hold on her new scrapboard and hovered over to him. Ah, a damsel in distress, She teased, offering her hand so that Vizim could hop on. Don't get any ideas though, I've got no interest in turning you from oggdo to prince with true love's kiss. Hopefully Vizim was the kind of Sith who could take a joke.

Flying them up towards the facility they saw earlier, Xio spotted areas of solid ground and landed her makeshift surfboard. Looking towards it, Xio headed off, keeping a careful eye on the ground this time. If they ended up in another trashalanche, she was going to be pissed.

Malou followed the two towards the facility while being careful to maintain her hold on the sheet of metal beneath her. She was more than happy to land back on solid ground. Before she moved any further though, she made sure to scan the area for unstable ground. It seemed like between here and there they would be alright.

It took only a few minutes of walking to reach the facility. It was no small building, but they conveniently happened upon what seemed to be an entrance of sorts. There was nothing behind it but an empty hallway, so Malou approached it without hesitation. It did not, however, wish to open. The keypad was damaged as well, which left only one option. Cutting through.

In one quick action, the acolyte unclipped one of her lightsabers and ignited it. With both hands she pushed the red blade into the door, then muscled it around until a circular shape large enough for them to get through had been created. She promptly kicked it in, revealing the empty hallway behind it.

"Shall we?"

Vizim watched as they floated down toward him on their flying magic carpet. He quirked an eyebrow at the display, but took the offer of coming aboard, crouching low to maintain his balance and lower the risk of falling.

You say that, but your eyes say differently, he said in quip to her comment about transforming him from an Oggdo.

As they floated upwards, the red one managed to cut through the door and Vizim wandered over to check around the perimeter of the station. There wasn't really any difference around the outside, but his eyes were drawn to claw marks that seemed to scramble up the side. Odd, he thought to himself, but had no real idea what could have caused it.

Before he could investigate further, their opening was set and Vizim gave only a single glance back further before heading on. He stepped through the doorway, hands slipping down to brush against both the saber hilt and pistol handle as he progressed. He grabbed the saber hilt and lit it up, sending a red glow to banish back the darkness of the inside.

It was a long hallway with no signs of life, and he pushed onward before coming to a split. Not a side to side split, but an up and down split. A ladder led down to... something while a stairwell led up to the upper levels.

Why do I have feeling it's in the creepy basement, he muttered, but didn't see anything down to the edge of his saber's glow.

Xio watched with some reservation as Malau carved a hole into the side of the building to grant them access. It would not have been her preferred method, but she couldn't argue with results. Still, there was something off about the place, and those feelings only intensified as Xio followed the others inside.

When the trio approached their first choice, Xio couldn't help but chuckle at Vizim's thought. Don't tell me you're afraid of the dark, oggdo. She said with a smirk, glancing at Vizim from the corner of her eye with just the smallest hint of flirtation.

Peering down the ladder, there was little Xio could make out with just the faint red glow of Vizim's lightsaber. Calling the force to her hand, Xio created a round ball of flame that crackled silently, but gave off a much better light.

Sending it down to the base of the ladder, she could at least see now that it didn't end in some kind of spike pit or something like that. Xio decided not to mention the claw marks she saw on the floor and walls near the base ladder. She'd seen enough horror holovids to know what kind of things awaited those who descended into the dark.

We could split up to cover more ground, She said idly, her eyes darting from Vizim to Malou to see if either of them had a speck of fear in their eye at the suggestion. Probably two down and one up, but do whatever you think is right. Mission success is paramount, after all.

Approaching the ladder heading down, Xio took a single step over the opening and let herself fall straight down. She landed with the silence of a stalking nexu, the only path available laying dead ahead of her before it took a hard right corner a couple dozen meters into the dark.

She left the light of the flame at the base of the ladder so that if one or both of the others decided to follow, they could see where they were going. Xio's Firrerreon heritage let her see into the ultraviolet spectrum, so she could see - mostly - where she was going without it.

She would wait for a few moments for someone to join her before starting down the hall.

Xiomara might look for a reflection of fear in Malou's eyes, but she would be greeted by the unexpressive sight of the red silk blindfold which was wrapped tightly around the upper half of her face. In actuality, Malou was cautious but not fearful. Time spent on Exegol had prepared her well for this sort of situation, and her vision through Force Sight was not hindered by the darkness.

Malou, just as Xiomara moved out of the way, dropped down as well. Unlike the woman, Malou's fall was not nearly as silent. Her robes fluttered as she fell, and she landed with a soft thud on the concrete floor. As she had descended, the acolyte had noticed the deep claw marks, so when she stood from her landing she immediately began to search the area. The hall went down one way, then turned. There was nothing immediately after that turn, but there were doors further down which she assumed led to various other rooms.

"There are several rooms further down," she would say to Xiomara as she began straight down the hallway. Malou had begun to suspect that whatever might be down here might not be natural.

Vizim cast a sideways glance at the woman's oggdo comment, though if he had a problem with her flirtation, it didn't seem to show.

Splitting up never goes poorly, he said, but the other two didn't seem to think it was a terribly idea and were dropping down within moments. He couldn't see the claw marks below, but enough of his instincts told him "bad news" that he wondered to himself if he was even going to see the pair of women again.

If you get killed, take it with you, he said, and turned his attention upward. That was fine, he was better on his own anyway and he had the "easier" of the two paths. He had their comlink chain codes but he wondered if they'd even get reception down there. Time would tell.

He proceeded up higher into the facility, reaching the top of the ladder and beginning to lurk through the hallways. Dark halls, dark clothes, and weapons in both hands, he was in his height of glory. Everything was hyperacute with his senses at their peak as he crept toward what looked to be some sort of control room.

There was a small part of Xio that was just ever so slightly disappointed that she was being joined by the crimson child instead of the oggdo. She always had been a sucker the aloof and clearly broody kind.

As Malou dropped down behind her, Xio couldn't help but turn to her, a gaze of judgement evident even through her side eye glance. Did your master not teach you the skill of silence? She asked, condescension ringing unmasked in her tone. They do you a disservice.

As the two walked down the hall and took the right turn, they were met with another long hall - though this time, there were several blast doors along the way. Approaching one, Xio placed her hand upon it, feeling through the door with the force to what might be on the other side.

There is life behind this door, but it is but a whisper. Concentrating, Xio pushed her senses further. Agony mixed with.. something. Helplessness, maybe. Despair and.. and rage.

Removing her hand from the door, Xio looked for a wall panel to open it. Spotting one, Xio tapped a few buttons and the door slide open with a hiss.

Inside the room was something Xio did not expect, and it caused her to let out a small gasp of surprise. Hanging by chains from the ceiling was the upper half of what seemed like a droid, but as Xio stepped closer it become very evident it was no mere machine. It was some sort of twisted amalgamation of flesh and blood and circuitry.

She'd seen cyborgs before, even read about them like the Separatist General Grievous. This.. this was different. Science didn't produce this monster. Something darker and far more sinister was the architect of its hellish design.

Before Xiomara could turn to speak a word to Malou, the monster that hung from the ceiling suddenly snapped its eyes open, which shone bright read in the dark. From deep within its mechanical chest came the blaring sound of an alarm, like one you'd hear on a freighter when it was on fire.

Drawing her vibroblade, Xio's eyes glanced to meet Malou's blindfold. The fight is coming for us now, She said, doing her best to hid the nervousness rattling in her voice. Kill anything that moves.

Malou ignored Xiomara's comment. She hadn't felt a need to be dead silent when she didn't see anything nearby. With the robes she wore, it was impossible to be completely silent when falling anyways.

The acolyte followed behind the woman, keeping at least a meter of space between them at all times. She did not follow Xiomara into the room and instead stood just outside of it. Her focus was on the hallway ahead of them, where she had begun to notice a presence of the Force thickening towards the edge of her vision. Her attention was snapped to the room when the cyborg creature began to scream, and when she looked back, creatures of similar appearance visualized from the darkness.

In one motion, Malou unclipped her lightsabers and slid the switch to unleash the red blades. The creatures moved at various speeds, but the way they stumbled down the hallway towards them reminded her greatly of the mutants on Exegol. Hopefully--hopefully--they would be just as stupid.

"They're coming down the hallway," Malou informed Xiomara as she backed up a bit. She wanted to get away from the doors, where they might be able to pop out of as well. To give Xiomara a bit of time to get out of the room and react to the advancing creatures, Malou sent a wave of Force down the hallway to stumble the cyborgs in front. A couple stumbled and fell, but the rest just trampled over them and kept coming.

While the two women deep below were beginning to have problems, Vizim was having a much more pleasant time. He reached the control room and hit the controls to make the door slide open. It opened up into a brightly lit room where the sun from outdoors still came through and a quick evaluation told him the room was empty.

He slipped his weapons away and began to interrogate the data terminals. Most of them still had power and he began to sift through logs and records. Skipping straight to the end, he started seeing mentions of "the droid men" that had chased the scavengers out of the facility. No holorecordings or images could be found. Surely some random cyborgs wasn't what was causing all the dark disruption here, right?

The darkness that fogged this area made it difficult for him to detect the chaos that had begun below. He opened up his comlink to the two women.

I'm looking at the records and it sounds like there's some sort of cyborgs down there. They dug them up somewhere. A whole horde, he said. It was a warning that came a bit too late, but it did hint at the fact that there was some sort of "nest" down there perhaps.

With a quick swipe of her vibroblade, Xio took the head off of the hanging monster, cutting off the ear shattering sound of its alarm. The damage had already been done, that much was clear, but at least without the incessant noise it would be easier to focus.

Hearing Vizim come across the comms, Xio couldn't help but laugh at his revelation.

Oh we've found them already, do keep up oggdo. She said back, using a force to rip up a large piece of durasteel grating from the floor and send it flying towards the incoming cyborgs. It crashed through the ones in front and slowed down the others in the back. And they're not just normal cyborgs. These are twisted monsters crafted with the darkside. Their minds scream in agony with every movement they make.

A few of the cyborgs finally closed the gap and engaged with Xio. They swung their sword-ended limbs at her wildly, their movements inelegant and brutish. The young assassin was able to parry one, and dodge the other, her own blade finding each of their necks and removing their heads.

Looking to Malou, Xio hoped the young acolyte was able to hold her own.

You should get down here as soon as you can.
