DESCRIPTION​

Force choke is one of the most well recognized powers associated with the dark side. An application of telekinesis, choke does precisely what it sounds like: it strangles an opponent without ever laying a finger on them. This ability has no physical appearance, but is almost always associated with some sort of physical action such as a gripped hand or fingers in a strangulation shape.

This ability is often used by darksiders for the sheer fear factor involved. It is a slow, horrifying way to kill a subordinate or opponent. Individuals under the influence of Choke feel as though an invisible hand is slowly squeezing their throat. While it may only take 5-10 seconds to strangle someone right next to you if the attack is completely unresisted or unimpeded, counter-attacks can easily raise that to a minute or more.

Choke, however, is far better for theatrical execution than active combat. Due to the precise nature of the body that is being attacked, it requires a great deal of concentration in order to maintain the attack with greater distance making it more difficult. Force users can telekinetically resist the attack while non-Force users can launch alternative attacks of their own. Gunfire, explosions, and other incoming attacks can easily break the concentration of the strangler altogether or at least weaken and significantly prolong the time it takes to actually kill someone with this technique.
