Things can change a lot in 20 years, for Alton not a whole lot. He's grown older, he's in his mid-fourties sure, actually has some facial hair. But he still has that youthful charm to him and has more experience in politics. He's also no-longer the Vice-Chancellor, his stint ending when Chancellor Keira's term ended. The Republic has grown and prosper, as it was meant to and as it was destined to. It's amazing what it had accomplished.

On one of the beaches of Kashyyyk next to one of the wookie's tree villages, Alton had a boat all ready to go. Today they are celebrating Life Day on the wookie homeworld. Back when the cultural suppression laws were a thing when he was but a mere subject of the Empire the former Vice Chancellor didn't even know Life Day was a thing.

Even with troubling reports he heard about the Mandalorians, the wookies are still able to celebrate their ancient tradition and others are free to come celebrate it with them as well.

Alton Hawkes would be right next to his boat in the bay of the nearby wookie village, just finishing preparations on his boat. Today he is celebrating Life Day with his good friend since his newb senate days over 20 years ago Valiance Waszylla. They had done a lot together. Valiance was already old then and he'd be older now. But still, this boat race is something fun they can do together for the wookie holiday. Alton is wearing suitable clothing for today, he heard that theres snow in Kashyyyk somehow so he brought a jacket.

With everything ready to go he'd walk over to his friend. "Hey Val, you ready?" he asked with a smile, friendly as ever. He's ready to go race if he is. It's good to see his old friend again.

Valiance was an old man now, well, older than he had been before. He was well past his prime, yet thankfully the grace of the Force or good genetics had spared him the usual ravages of age. He never had any important positions in the Republic but had done his best to help set the education standard for the teaching on all Republic planets. That would be his legacy, making sure that the children of the next generations learned of compassion, wisdom, and all the skills they would need to work to trying to make a lasting peace. He was sad that it wouldn't happen in his lifetime, though he tried to look forward to the future. He could see the Mandalorians beginning to fracture, as he knew they would. With what he knew of their culture, he knew that once their unifying force was dead due to battle or age the clans would fracture and fight amongst themselves. There was no one, so far, of the new generation that had the skills of the previous leaders and unifiers of the warrior people. Without that binding presence, and with the Sith and Jedi presence having diminished and hidden in the galaxy, all that would be needed was time and nature would take it's course. No Empire ruled forever.

He was glad to have heard from his friend Alton, though, and was even more delighted to have been brought to Kashyyk for the Lifeday celebrations. This was the first one he had actually been able to partake in, better late than never. A boat race sounded like just his speed for events, too, a little friendly competition while seeing some of the natural beauty of the Wookie homeworld. It was far better than just reading about it in a book. "Alton! Always great to see you. I'm ready when you are, just be lenient with me if I fall asleep at the wheel. You know what they say about senior citizens and driving anything motorized." He winked at the young man, his mind still sharp despite his self-deprecating humor.

"Always great to see you too, and will do!" he chuckled and winked back the the older man. It's so nice that some things never change, even with Val's advanced age he's still up for having fun and not afraid to make light of himself as well. "Alright lets do it" he smiled back at the man. "Good luck, have fun!" he wished Val. With a nod he'd head towards his boat and then embark and get ready.

The goal of the race is first to get to the buoy out in the water first wins. Now inside the boat, there would be a third person, a wookie standing in between the two boats at the bay that would be counting down the time to start and then the two racers would be able to begin. "Raaaaaahhgh" the wookie said in his native language and with gestures to accompany. "Uughghhhgh" Alton has a smile and would glance at his Val real quick. "Awwgggghhh" Alton is feeling it. "Aarrraggh" the wookie yelled and dropped his hands.

And with that it's go time.

Alton would start the race off with a slight lead on his boat as his boat revved forward towards the buoy as he glanced at Val. Anything could happen here. Of course winning is not the most important part, this is for the fun and excitement.
