New Alderaan

Jon and Kali had been through a lot in their time together; they had quelled Ewok rebellions, wolves almost ate them, and they had even faced off against dark side horrors. They had come through it all stronger than before. Today, Jon was just as nervous, if not more about their coming trip.

It wasn't that he didn't want to meet her parents, he did. He was really excited, but as much as she had promised it would be alright, he was still nervous. They had grown up in totally different worlds. Kali's family was rich, sophisticated, and noble, and Jon's wasn't. He was proud of his family but didn't want to disappoint either.

He stepped off of the space transport into a vibrant spaceport. New Aldera was an impressive city. He was supposed to be meeting Kali here at the spaceport, and then they would be meeting her parents later in the day. Her family had come for some sort of event they were a part of, but the times had aligned with both Jon's and Kalique's time off, an increasingly rare occurrence. So, plans had been made hastily.

He placed his bags down and scanned the crowd for her, but didn't see her immediately.

New Alderaan was neutral territory, but she soon learnt that it was relatively busy. She assumed the majority of travelers was here due to the gala she fortunately didn't need to attend, but this still meant she was stuck at customs for a little. Sighting, she tapped the outside of her thigh while she waited in queue before it was finally her turn.

Right after, she hastily made her way outwards and towards Jonathen, who had texted her where he was waiting and as soon as she spotted him through the crowd, her smile widened. It had been a while and she was incredibly happy that their schedules had matched and their plans for today were obviously exciting.

The air was pleasant and it was a sunny day, and her pace immediately quickened as she covered the last meters. Without warning, she threw her arms around his neck and hugged him tightly before she pulled back to kiss him passionately.

She had indeed missed him and nightly chats or calls weren't close to seeing him in real life, but that was exactly while she valued their shared actual time together so highly. "Hey you...it's nice to have you back" she whispered after a moment as she pulled back, already realizing that he was indeed already a little nervous.

It had been a lucky coincidence that her parents were not on Serenno today as she was convinced neutral space would make this a little less stressful. There was quite a hustle and bustle around, but she blocked out all the rest as she looked in those beautiful, light brown eyes.

He looked down at his phone, turning at the last second to see a blur of platinum hair rush him before she flung arms around him. He grunted slightly with the collision. Jon let a warm laugh as they embraced, but he returned her kiss.

Their embrace lingered in the middle of the busy space terminal, passengers parting to move around them. "Its so good to see you, I have missed you." he said affectionately.

"Want to go check in first, or do we need to be somewhere else first?" he said. He wasn't exactly sure what the plans for this were. He knew they were staying in a nice hotel overlooking the large lake that bordered the capital city, and they were meeting up with her parents.

"Are your parents already here, or are they coming later?" he asked, wondering when and where they were going to meet up. He was nervous, but some of that had faded away, replaced by excitement.

They started heading towards the main doors, out into the streets beyond the spaceport.

"I have missed you, too" she whispered against his lips as she was flooded by a wave of warmth, still lingering in their embrace, a genuinely happy smile on her lips. They did great with adapting to the situation and had even successfully accomplished the first shared mission without any issues, but after weeks of having been apart again, it was obviously great to be reunited.

They had a little challenge to face today, but she was quite convinced it would work out well. Her parents had been overly happy about the news, especially her mom had been excited ever since she had figured out someone had visited her on Serenno, and so far it had even seemed as though they didn't mind her choice.

Not that she cared about what they were thinking, but as they had been highly interested in meeting him, she was glad they hadn't confronted her with any drama via the calls they had had while planning this. If they had, well, then she wouldn't have arranged this meeting at all, but this was she was really optimistic about the opportunity to officially introduce him.

"We can! This was we can get rid of our luggage" she replied, slowly pulling back and immediately taking his hand to interlace their fingers. "We still have some time all to ourselves" she happily added as they made their way towards the shuttles.

"Is there anything you'd like to see?", she asked him as she was glancing up at him, squeezing his hand. "Check-in is possible whenever, so we could also take a look around first, whichever you prefer". As they'd leave tomorrow, she hadn't rented a car this time, but thanks to the event there were droid-operared shuttles everywhere and they were free to hire them.

She waved one over, before she answered. "My parents arrived yesterday as there were some change of plans...but I guess they're keeping themselves busy. We are supposed to meet them at dinner, buuut, don't freak out" she gave him an apologetic smirk as she turned to face him, taking his other hand into hers as well.

"I promise this wouldn't be such a tense, classically stiff dinner setting. They can...behave. Also, it doesn't need to be dinner. It was their suggestion, but we could also go see some sights together, too! I can tell them we've already got plans for the night and we'll just do something in the later afternoon, I purposely kept it vague so that you can decide". If they acted up, she would literally just take him and leave anyway, but she was still convinced it wouldn't come to that as they'd see how happy she was. "I'm literally fine with whatever...I'm just grateful that this is all happening in general".

He smiled as he took her hand, and they began making their way out of the spaceport."That sounds good then!" he said. They would first head to the hotel and then go from there.

"Besides you?" he said with a wink as they loaded their bags in the shuttle, and he climbed in after her. "I am kind of along for the ride." he said with a shrug. He hadn't made much in the way of plans, unsure of her parents' plans. Besides, this was a quick one-day visit; he had no complaints as long as he got to spend that day with Kali.

"Dinner sounds perfect." he said, smiling at her. "And I am not "freaking out"" he added with air quotes. She would be able to sense his nervousness despite his best attempt at appearing calm on the outside.

"You..." he said, pausing to find the right words to say. "...They aren't expecting some Lord or Count to show up tonight. You told them I'm...uhh normal?" he said, not quite showing how to end the sentence. It didn't bother him that she had come from a noble family, but he knew, or at least thought, it might ruffle some feathers if they thought she was with someone beneath her "station."

On board the shuttle, she provided the adress for the droid so all they had to do was to lean back and enjoy the ride while their driver would bring them to their hotel. "Good. Then let's drop the stiff and maybe do some exploring" she happily suggested as she did lean back, her eyes briefly marveling at the urban delights of the capital before her emerald gaze met his again.

"You sooo are...and it's totally fine. Honestly, I'll be just as nervous about meeting your parents" she admitted with a smirk, her tone completely honest as it was the truth. First impressions did matter after all and she already knew that her usual confidence would be attenuated that day.

"But dinner it is then". She was truly fine with it, but he didn't sound fully convincing, so she had already decided on how to make him more comfortable beforehand. She had a few tricks up her sleeve, also when it came to curb her parents, so she was optimistic.

She kept holding his hand as he voiced some of his concerns, her voice softening as she began to adress them. "They know you're an esteemed Commander and believe me when I say they respect the military greatly. They knew they always kept them safe. Yes, they do know you're not from a noble family or whatsoever, but they tried marrying me to other Serennian families for years, so they had given up on this game long time ago", she explained, a smirk tugging at her lips.

It was her very intention to soothe his worries and answer his questions, yet she still didn't agree with how he always played himself down. "You're amazing and they'll love you. Honestly. They know I'm not coming back so all they want is for me to be...loved I guess. They already know how happy you're making me, so there's truly no need to worry" she softly stroked the back of his hand before she added, "Just mind that they have rather...conservative views every now and then". This warning she had to give him, but there she was rather hoping they wouldn't embarrass themselves.

The building peaks of New Aldera were quite impressive with their backdrop of towering mountains. Jon certainly preferred life outside the city, but he had to admit the city was quite taking.

He laughed. "Other than a bit clingy, my parents are nothing," he said. They continued to the far side of the city, nearest the lake. "I don't know if I would use the word "esteemed".." he said with another laugh. "But I am excited," he said, leaning into her more. He wasn't half as nervous now. If they could face ancient evil together, they could get through a pleasant dinner. He took note of her warning, though he had expected as much. The military was about as conservative as they came as well, so he understood and was prepared thoroughly in those regards.

They arrived at the hotel; Jon jumped out and offered her a hand out as well before grabbing their bags. "So? You mentioned sightseeing. Have anything in mind?" he said, glancing over to the giant sparkling lake across the way. "I decided to spare us the life/death scenario this time; sadly just not enough time." he said, glancing over and winking.

The impressive skyscrapers quickly passed by, spectacularly towering over the city. Despite her always having been used to more urban places, she had always preferred the countryside in general, however, she was still more than excited to explore the city with him.

There hotel was still rather central, however the lake offered some less hustle and bustle as it wasn't directly in the crowded city, which would allow them to relax a little. "Everything you tell me about your parents just sounds lovely" her parents were clingy in a way too, but in a much less pleasant way than his, judging from what he had told her.

"So am I", she agreed, a warm smile on her lips...even if her parents could be difficult every now and then, she'd love for them all to get along well as Jonathen was part of the family now. They reached the hotel soon after and she thanked him for his courteous gesture before they walked into the hotel's grand entrance hall.

There was an indoor water fountain, a few fancy sculptures and no humanoid staff, which was something you didn't even find this often. "Hmm...well we could either head right into the city or grab something like ice cream or coffee and take a look around the lake" she excitedly suggested, actually happy with whatever. While they chatted about their ideas,

Kalique could basically run through a little online self- check in at a terminal that immediately offered a keycard in return. "Now I'm curious about the room. They seem to be very modern". With that, she reached for his hand again before they'd move towards the glass lift. Knowing about his fear of heights, she positioned herself in a way that he could easily keep his gaze on her as she asked, "You know my father loves watching sports too. I guess you'll two could have a lot to talk about".

They stepped inside, Jon marveling at the rich architecture. Perhaps Kali was accustomed to these sorts of places, given her upbringing, but Jon was a little easier to impress when it came to these sorts of things.

He waited as Kali checked in and then followed her to lift. "Or coffee ice cream..." he offered. "Maybe find a trail by the lake.. " he continued building on her idea as the lift climbed higher and higher.

"Everything in this city is quite modern," he said. "Quite the mix of green mixed in as well..." he noted. She moved in between the glass pane and him, his focus falling on her. "Is that so?" he said. "That's good to know..." he said, tucking away that information in case it was needed later.

The lift stopped, and they stepped directly into a large beautiful room with open spaces and a large window overlooking the after. "This is amazing.." he said, stepping into the room. "I mean..its no Serrenian Mansion, but you know..." he said playfully.

Her lips immediately curled into a smirk before he kept building on the idea. "That sounds absolutely perfect. Let's do it. Although let's keep ice coffee as an option too", she playfully added as they started their ascend.

The hotel had great reviews and her parents had recommended it even though they had chosen a hotel right in the city. They enjoyed metropolitan cities and well, she was relieved they wouldn't just run into them here. "True...they're all about sustainability, too, but honestly, as amazing as this place is, I prefer a quiet residence in the middle of nowhere", she replied, the wonderful memories of Serenno immediately fading back into her mind and making her smile widen.

"Yup. I can't tell you which teams he's currently rooting for though...you might have to be careful there. But what's quite funny is that in his posh circles, he can't admit that he's into it like that. It has still always been his guilty pleasure" she disclosed amusedly, knowing her dad would thrive in such conversations though.

Just a few moments later an electronic chime announced their arrival and they were free to enter the studio. "Ugh I know...I'm sorry to disappoint this time...I hope I can still convince you to stay somehow" she teased, taking the bag of his shoulders and giving him a mischievous smirk before she leaned up to kiss him, now that they had a little time.

"Iced Coffee...now you are just getting crazy." he teased.

"Oh, I see." he said, scratching at his beard. "So you gave me what looked like a tip at first glance but could really be a trap instead." he continued joking. "What if he likes a really lame team? What does that mean for us.." he said, maintaining a serious face for a moment before laughing.

"Sounds awful. What do these "posh" people talk about then?" he asked.

"You? Disappoint? Impossible." he spoke quieter as she took the bag slung around his shoulder and dropped it to the ground. He grabbed her as she leaned up to kiss him. This kiss deepened as it lasted, a hungry passion from months apart rising in him.

Jon pulled back, making a pleased sound. "That is going to lead to very different plans than we had just discussed..." he said with a smile. "Maybe we save that for a little bit later." he said, not quite able to convince himself to let go of her just yet. Stealing one last kiss, he forced himself to step back towards the elevator.

"So how about that coffee!" he said, glancing back towards the incredible room one last time, the slightest twinge of regret hitting him before the would-be off for their day of adventure.

"Come on. You know I'm the one with the weird food preferences..." she teased back, before the sport debate went on. "I guess if you don't agree on teams, this just can't work, obviously" she joked, shrugging casually, before she couldn't help but to chuckle.

"Posh people things" she then amusedly continued, "upcoming galas, events and fundraisers...rumors and gossip, investment opportunities, politics etc." despite having grown up with it, she despised how often those issues repeated themselves. She had found it boring as a child and now she usually listened, but had no interest in participating.

He reciprocated the kiss passionately while her own cravings surfaced again. Damn, she had missed this actual physical contact, too, but he had a point. "True...we do have the night for ourselves...so I guess you're right" parting from him was hard, but if they were here already, they could actually do some exploring. "No distractions then" she promised with a smirk as she followed him.

"Iced coffee" she playfully corrected them as they entered, sliding her hand back into his as they started their decent. "I've seen a few restaurants and cafés that are supposed to be great...obviously, I had to do the regular amphibian check, but New Alderaan fortunately seems safe.." she teased, keeping her eyes on his as she didn't want him to become nervous in terms of the height and the non-existent floor.

"Id say we just walk around and figure out which restaurant seems most appealing" she gave him another warm smile before the elevator chimed and the doors slid open. They walked out of the hotel and were already at the beautiful, vast lake.

There was quite a crowd here in front of the hotel and thus in the outskirts of the city, but they could already see how there were less people the further they'd walk. "Ohh they even have pedal boats. How about grabbing drinks and snacks and enjoying them on the lake?" she suggested excitedly, glancing up at him.

"Yes, you do...." he said. "Don't worry, I won't tell your sophisticated parents how uncivilized you have become in your dining choices." he said with a smirk.

"I thought as much..." he said with a sigh. "We had a good run, but I think there is just some things love can't overcome..." he said with a sad look, though his eyes lit up with humor before he laughed.

"You do know how much I thoroughly enjoy a good distraction.." he said suggestively before forcing himself away. "I think you are safe here, maybe...we'll see." he said as the lift started its descent.

Within minutes they were on the streets of New Aldera in search of a restaurant. "That sounds great!" he said enthusiastically as they began their search. As they passed a side street, a small cafe was tucked out of the way. It was less busy due to it being just off the main path. "How about that one?" he asked, nodding to the quaint sign.

"You know, I almost never go to these types of places. Its so confusing to order. I just want coffee, you know...I don't want to make 1000 different choices." he said, making conversation as they broke off towards the cafe.

"That is extraordinarily kind of you, Jonathen. I appreciate that a lot" was what she amusedly added before she joined in on his joke. "Yeah...I mean there are simply a few things where compromises aren't possible. So well, let's keep our fingers crossed".

They chuckled together as they got going before they coul get too involved with their distractions. Her longing was obviously not satisfied for now, but she was overly happy over the prospects of their urban adventure. "Oooh" he liked his first choice and her eyes excitedly lit up, yet then she remembered Raxus.

"Corner restaurant away from the main street. That rings a bell...I'm telling you if I can't read the menu, I'm out" she playfully replied as they walked over, but as they were getting closer, it seemed fine, so the chances for cloudy, chunky beverages was decreasing. "Okay it should be fine" she carefully added, her voice quieter as another smirk tugged at her lips.

"Oh I do get that! I mean sometimes those choices can be nice though...what about we order for one another again? I've got an idea". The smirk widened as she was hoping for a positive reply. Once he did agree, they entered, briefly waited in line before she started his order. "Hey there! I'd go with a large Iced coffee please..." she began, before the barista asked for specifications.

"Mhh, protein milk, yup, the special blend... a squirt of hazelnut syrup please, light whipped vanilla cream. Hmm, level 2 and oh sure, the crispy topping sounds great if you're recommending it like this...and no, that's it for this one. Thanks a lot!" she then gave Jon a warm smile and a thumb up as if saying 'trust me, this will be awesome' before he was curious about what he'd order for her.

Once he was done as well, she asked, "Do you want another snack?" and would finally pay before they could head out. "Okay you try first!" she was hoping he'd appreciate the combination of the freshly grounded, earthy, rather strong beans that were met with the subtle, fresh sweetness of the fancy additions.

They walked into one of the most charming, cozy coffee shops Jon had ever seen. The smell was simply intoxicating. They waited in the short line when Kali suggested they order for each other after he admitted he had no idea how to order at places like this.

A slight scowl formed on his face, a scowl only an Imperial officer could wear. He had grown into the expression over the years, though Kali had rarely been around him when he was in true officer mode. Before he could object, she was at the counter ordering. A blur of different choices spilled out of her mouth that made his head spin.

When she finished, both she and the barista turned to him; there was even a cat lounging on a shelf behind the counter that seemed to look up from its nap expectantly at him. He looked at the board, Kali, and the barista. Why had she done this to him?

He opened his mouth. "Yeah, uhhh..." he stammered, looking back at the board of different choices. "I'll get an iced coffee..." he continued. "uhhh...normal milk?? With Caramel syrup...whipped cream...and chocolate drizzled on top." he said. The barista smirked at him before she glanced over to Kali.

The barista prepared the drinks, which were handed over to them later. "I didn't even know there were this many types of milk...and I grew up on a damn farm..." he whispered as they waited.

He accepted the drink she offered. "Okay, this is good." he admitted. It was certainly sweeter than he normally drank, but that wasn't saying much.

Seeing the esteemed, overly capable Imperial Commander order at the counter was an absolutely adorable sight to behold. She kept giving him encouraging smiles, but it was fairly obvious that he would have indeed been fine with simple coffee.

Still, she was happy he dared to try experimenting so they left with to rather individualized cups that said "Jouhnasen" and "Culleeqe". Amused, she watched him take a sip and actually admit that it was good. "Hey you've done super well" she praised him happily, taking a sip herself.

"And mhhh. This is nice...the perfect amount of sweetness". They were headed towards the lake, right where you could simply hop on a paddle boat. She didn't often drink such fancy creations either, but it could be a nice treat every now and then.

"So, boat?" she asked him as they were passing by anyway, her eyes scanning the calm waters. As it was a usual business day, there were many people on the lake yet. Also, as there were many business men and women in the city, she didn't expect too many of the event tourists to go for such an activity.

"You know I didn't only fall in this pond at the event when I was a kid..." she had already told him the story about the most embarrassing day as a teenager. "I also went canoeing once and the boat just capsized on the lake because it was leaking somehow. It was a good thing I'm a good swimmer, but I'll warn you that I'm not very lucky when it comes to water" she amusedly explained as they made their way over to the landing stage.

He felt a twinge of ridiculous pride as she at least tolerated his drink order. They left the quaint coffee shop and walked towards the lake. The weather was perfect. It was a warm day, but not hot, with a nice breeze blowing in off the lake.

He took another sip from his cup as they finally reached the lake. He nodded at her question as they looked out over the shimmering water. He spotted the unattended docks with the small boats tied to them. He grabbed ahold of her hand, and they made their way down to the dock.

Jon raised an eyebrow at her story. "This feels like information you should have disclosed before we made these plans.." he said with a smirk. "and here I thought this trip would involve no danger. Apparently, being with you comes with its share of dangers..." he said with a smile.

Approaching one of the boats that looked least likely to leave them stranded in the middle of the lake, he offered her a hand down into the boat before he followed. The boat rocked slightly as they sat down and got settled. "Let's test this curse out of yours.." he joked as they began peddling out into the glass-like water of the lake. He pulled out his phone and held it up, leaning into her. "So they remember us as we were..." he said with a smile before snapping the selfie. They actually hadn't taken many, if any, pictures together. They had kept their relationship pretty low-key. Jon hadn't minded it much, though having the picture would be nice.

At the beautifully shimmering lake, the sun was reflecting in the laze ways that occasionally pervaded the surface. "Uhm...maybe I should have" she admitted, a hint of seriousness in her voice before she couldn't help but to chuckle again.

"It will be fine!" she still enthusiastically added, "I'm feeling optimistic here" she assured him as she tugged him to the deck. "Well yeah. You've acquired the package deal. You'll have a blast, but there were always be an adrenaline filled episode" she joked, however then realized that it had been very accurate so far. But no. Not this time.

He helped her inside and as the little boat rocked, her optimism faded a little. Was there a reason why not many people used them? She discarded the thought immediately and focused on him instead. "Ohh that's actually a great idea!" there weren't many photos of them yet and changing that was actually a nice idea as it was always wonderful to look back at some photos.

"Okay let's take one more, but we'll take on the expressions of the childhood photos you've seen of me" she playfully suggested, immediately cutting all emotions out of her features. "Give me your best 'looking regal, hence no smiling allowed' face". This time, she took the picture and admired it right after.

"Excellent. I'll let that be printed and just put it up in the residence...I'm curious to see how long it takes until someone notices" now this was just a hilarious idea. She took the paddles next and started rowing, making them drift a little off shore, however moving rather slowly.

"That's...wonderful, actually, much like-" CRACK. The little boat suddenly rocked as they obviously bumped into something hard underground. "Woah! I swear this thing was moving...I was checking for rocks and navigating away from them, but this must have been some...hard shell water creature" her eyes widened a little, however everything still seemed fine.

"Okay weird...oh. Oh no" and then her gaze went down to the bottom were water was already streaming in. "Nooooo. This can't be. No no no" she shook her head in disbelief, wondering how exactly this 'curse' didn't obviously stick with her still. "Shit. Let's get to the shore quickly!". Their feet would soon be soaked if they didn't keep their feet up and who knew how fast this boat swallowed more...

His expression grew somber, chin jutting out slightly, trying to give himself a more imperious look. He burst into laughter after the picture snapped."That would be incredible." he said, thinking about the odd looks it would get when finally discovered.

She took the paddles and began rowing out into the lake. He relaxed back as she started telling another story when there was a loud crack as something dragged along the bottom of the boat...

"The curse..." he said quietly as water started to seep into the boat. "Not even 10 minutes in..." he said in disbelief. It was almost hilarious, no it was hilarious. "I thought you were joking!" he yelled with a laugh as he took the paddles back. "Just...uhh...bail water out!" he said as he turned the boat around.

They weren't terribly far from shore but far enough where it would be quite the swim if they sank out here. With long strokes, he paddled as the boat raced against time. Even with her bailing water, Jon's feet were soaked by the time they got close enough to shore. They weren't going to escape this without getting wet.

Jon threw himself heroically overboard. "Get on my shoulders!" he said in mock drama. "I'll save you!" he said, the water only coming up to his midsection. Assuming she got on, he would wade through the water, coming up on shore as a group of business people looked on, confused by what was happening.

On shore, he laughed and set her down before collapsing on the grass. Laying in the grass he continued to laugh. "I can't believe you are actually cursed..." he said.

She really liked the idea of the new photo that would join the old portraits and so she already ran through a few possibilities in her mind. They could even find fitting venues and take on different props...perhaps they would out of fun every now and then, until they'd realize.

"Oh no don't say it, you'll just make it worse" she dramatically sighted before she couldn't help but to laugh at how ridiculous this was. She wasn't superstitious, but something couldn't be right with this...this hadn't even been a result of unintentional clumsiness, but it had been the fish! It had to be whatever swam by...

"Oh no...we're sinking. I'm so sorry" she apologized, still choosing humor over desperation as she started scooping out the water as best and quickly as she could. "Okay okay no, we can manange" he valiantly kept on going until they did finally make it to the shallows.

"Ohh my hero" she joined in theatrically, amusedly playing the damsel in distress while however appreciating the gesture. She couldn't help but to laugh, and well, they at least had great fun until they reached the safety of the grass. Giggling, she rolled over, wrapping an arm around him. "Okay we still had fun" and she had managed to save their drinks after all.

"I'm not cursed, it was just bad luck" she shook her head before she pushed herself off her fe3t and offered him a hand to get up. "But still...why does this keep happening" she shook her head again before she let out a sigh. "Okay but let's say this was the exciting part. The evening will be chill", gesturing for his pants though, she just had to chuckle a little. "Do you want to change? You're...well at least half soaked".
