The Ubiqtorate employs a fairly straightforward ranking structure. Most are decided not on tenure, but contribution to the organization. There is always opportunity for advancement, and certain ranks - such as the Ciphers - are constantly in flux.

  • Informants, technically speaking, are not a part of the Ubiqtorate. They are afforded no special protection by the Imperium, and are simply people with connections who can be bought. For the most part, informants are employed by Ciphers, who make contact and exchange currency or favors for secrets.

  • Probationary Operatives are new to the Ubiqtorate, and as such, are often afforded very little operational leeway. Probationary operatives are held under observation for thirty days, during which their performance is monitored by senior operatives and support staff. If, at the end of their probation, they are deemed unfit for service, their minds are wiped of their experiences and they are sent back to the IAF. However, those who show dedication, loyalty, and promise will be promoted to the rank of Imperial Operative, and granted full diplomatic rights as an intelligence operative of the New Sith Imperium.

Also known as Junior Operatives, this is the rank at which most characters will enter the faction. The probationary period is something that will be enforced, although there won't be a time limit in place. Instead, I'd like to see two missions completed successfully, at which point your character will be considered for promotion to a permanent position. Please keep in mind that missions can involve operations posted on the mission board, or they can be of your own choosing. Getting relevant secrets out of someone and then reporting that information in a dead drop is just as important as completing official operations! If you have any questions on what does or does not count as a mission (as it pertains to character promotion) please don't hesitate to ask!

  • Imperial Operatives make up the bulk of the Ubiqtorate's intelligence operatives. Trained in various modes of intelligence gathering, counterintelligence, urban camouflage, and interrogation techniques, they are often deployed to various Imperial outposts across the galaxy, where they are tasked with observing and reporting on anything from local politics, culture, and current events. Particularly gifted Imperial Operatives may be asked to infiltrate groups as sleeper agents, acting as the Empire's eyes and ears among the Jedi, the Hutt Cartel, and various independent organizations.

The majority of the Ubiqtorate's non-military forces are Imperial Operatives, plain and simple. They are fully recognized spies - operating under official cover - and most of them spend their time in one or many of the Empire's planetary outposts, reporting on local activities, gathering intelligence, and so on. On average, an operative spends six months at a listening post, before being released to the Sphinx for a month of debriefing and R&R. They do not infiltrate other groups such as the Jedi, Hutt Cartel, or Rebellion, though they may occasionally meet with operatives or informants who undertake such activities.

  • Ciphers are the best of the best, the most elite of Ubiq's forces. Ciphers possess a varied and impressive skill set, including infiltration, disguise, seduction, espionage, marksmanship, and multiple forms of armed and unarmed combat. They are afforded a greater level of operational independence, including the ability to recruit their own agents under non-official cover, and are outfitted with a personal starship as well. Upon reaching the rank of Cipher, operatives are stripped of their birth names and assigned a numerical designation, such as Cipher Four or Cipher Eleven, although like all operatives, they are permitted to use any number of false names in their deceptions. There is an upper limit of twenty active Ciphers at once time, and the spots are highly competitive. Given that most don't make it past their fifth year of service, these prized positions are constantly in flux.

Ciphers are the closest thing any Ubiq agent will ever get toward playing James Bond. They're highly trained individuals - which is saying something, given just how impressive the rest of the operatives are! - who, due to their service, are allowed far more freedoms than Imperial Operatives. They may infiltrate other groups at will, and are on par with Minders: they're authorized to take control of an outpost in the absence of its Minder, and both Imperial Operatives and Junior Operatives are required to follow their commands. They're outfitted with a personal ship, and stripped of their identities upon reaching the rank of Cipher.
For the time being, players will only be permitted to take on roles as Probationary Operatives, Imperial Operatives, and Ciphers. The following positions will be staffed by NPCs, many of which you can find in the next post.

  • Fixers, also known as Tech Operatives, are responsible for processing most of the data that field operatives bring in. Adept at slicing, computer engineering, biomechanics, and system troubleshooting, Fixers are the backbone of the Ubiqtorate. (NPCs)

  • Medical Officers, obviously, handle the medical needs of the Sphinx's staff. This rank include nurses, trauma surgeons, chiropractors, nutritionists, physical therapists, and of course, psychotherapists. (NPCs)

  • Flyers operate and maintain the mobile command center, in conjunction with the Fixers and, to a lesser extent, the Medical Officers. Pulled from the Imperial Navy, they have been given the same rigorous mental conditioning as field operatives, and are on board to defend the Sphinx in the incredibly unlikely case of an attack. (NPCs)

  • Minders are the upper management of the Ubiq, known at times as Handlers. They assimilate all of the information gathered by Operatives and Fixers, compile it into reports, and bring their findings to the Keeper directly. Minders are also in charge of assigning Operatives to missions, and overseeing the training of Junior/Probationary Operatives as well. (NPCs)

  • The Keeper is, essentially, the Ubiq's Second in Command. He or she reports directly to the Director, and could be considered the "face" of the Ubiqtorate: while not the true leader of the organization, the Keeper is none the less an almost constant presence on the Sphinx, and keeps the Ubiqtorate running smoothly. (NPC)

  • The Director knows nearly all of the Empire’s secrets, and reports directly to the Dark Lord of the Sith. The Director's identity is unknown to all but the Keeper and the Dark Lord, though rumors abound regarding his or her true identity. (NPC)

Below, you will find brief biographies for various members of the Ubiq support staff. Please feel free to use them on missions where applicable. If you have any questions, don't hesitate to get in touch.
AGsDAH1.png
Minder Aurek, under the alias Groex Verbeke, has been a Sith Crusader longer than many initiates and acolytes have been alive. An Anzati-Cathar hybrid, Aurek was recruited into the Ubiqtorate upon the creation of the New Sith Empire, when it was still in its nascent and secretive stage. A devout believer in the mission of the Empire, Aurek is friendly but intense and has the mannerisms of someone much younger. Given his longevity, he is wise, kind, and patient, but does not suffer fools. Under the cover of a Sith Warrior named Groex Verbeke, he manages the Korriban station and provides clandestine training opportunities as well as assignments largely confined to Imperial-controlled space.

NAME: Minder Aurek
ALIAS: Groex Verbeke
AGE: 459
DETAILS: Short and stocky, he is extremely fit and muscular despite his age, although he tends to mask this underneath the stereotypical and voluminous robes of a Sith.

A Hapan of some noble family or another, Minder Osk has worked the last few years towards infiltrating the coalescing group of rebels opposing the Empire. Given his Hapan heritage, he has found it especially easy to convey grievances against the Empire. In truth, Osk was a turncoat from the start, working with the Empire almost immediately on their invasion to further his own status as a potential ruler. True to Hapan form, he is extremely talented at duplicity, backstabbing, and has a unique gift for bomb making. After eliminating his female family members in a “tragic accident,” he was recruited into the Ubiqtorate. Later, he was tasked with publicly denouncing the Empire and establishing his credentials as a rebel. Currently runs the Terminus station.

NAME: Minder Osk
ALIAS: Veruun Shae-Tatham
AGE: 39
DETAILS: Intensely selfish and guarded, the Ubiqtorate is well aware that Osk will remain loyal only as long as it suits his own desire to establish a luxurious retirement within the Empire-controlled Hapes Cluster. As a Hapan, he can easily pass for someone at least a decade younger than his actual age.

Minder Forn was originally an aristocratic linguist with familial ties to the Imperial bureaucracy. On the discovery of her innate talents towards social information gathering, she was recruited into the Ubiqtorate and quickly rose through the ranks. She expresses all the desired traits of a rich, pampered wife: well-mannered, polite, subtly flirtatious, and somewhat vacuous. Truthfully, she is one of the smartest operatives within the Ubiqtorate, and has numerous advanced degrees in intergalactic relations, languages, and economic policy. Her current assignment has her established as Marnele Vespique, wife of Hersh Vespique, a patrician government official from Naboo. She covertly runs the station on Naboo, but also engages in a fair amount of field work using her social standing.

NAME: Minder Forn
ALIAS: Marnele Vespique
AGE: 27
DETAILS: Unbelievably smart—though publicly appropriately ditzy—she has blue skin, traditional yellow Pantoran tattoos, brown eyes, and magenta hair. Average height and weight. Finds the Jedi—and the Sith, more privately—fascinating outliers useful for little more than scientific study towards eugenicistic ends.

Minder Shen grew up an orphan in Nar Shaddaa, stealing and murdering and doing whatever was necessary to survive. When he was able, he obtained transport into Imperium territory and joined the Stormtrooper Corps. Very clever, he was soon recruited into the Ubiqtorate and conducted clandestine operations during the conflicts with the Hutt Cartel, given his surprisingly extensive knowledge of surreptitious means of moving about Hutt-controlled worlds. Ostensibly he is still just a low-ranking non-commissioned officer working on routine matters of military logistics, he runs the Ubiqtorate station on Anaxes and assigns missions into Cartel territories.

NAME: Minder Shen
ALIAS: Mailk Groundcrawler
AGE: 31
DETAILS: Very funny and outgoing, Shen possesses all the qualities one would expect in a poor boy turned soldier, but there is a deep flicker of resourceful ingenuity in his eyes that betrays his otherwise goofy and carefree attitude. Loathes the Hutts.

As the face of the Ubiqtorate, Keeper Mau presents herself as a stern but fair woman who has her operatives' best interests at heart. For the most part, her appearances are genuine: she does care for the various operatives and support staff, but when push comes to shove, she isn't afraid of making hard decisions or even sacrificing an operative to further the goals of the Imperium. As a former member of the tech squad, she's a computer whiz and is even credited with designing the unique, limited production Cipher starships. Despite her age, she's remarkably strong and spry, and a worth opponent - physically or intellectually - for those who would dare challenge her.

NAME: Keeper Mau
ALIAS: Fixer 203
AGE: 52
DETAILS: Detail oriented, efficient, practical. Sympathetic, but not soft. Knows E's identity, but refuses to tell, obviously. Operatives call her 'The Cat', because she's so damn sneaky.

EVpzMxV.gif
Known only by the code name "E", the Ubiqtorate's current director is a mystery to all but his Second in Command, Keeper Mau.

Elected to run the division in the wake of Royston Spektor's absence, he is credited with expanding the Ubiqtorate's network of spies throughout the galaxy, devoting nearly the entirety of his considerable wealth to keep the organization going. While far less "hands on" than his predecessor, the current Director is still an active part of the Ubiqtorate's daily operations, and is acutely aware of everything that Imperial intelligence is up to.

NAME: Unknown
ALIAS: E, The Director
AGE: Estimated late 40s
DETAILS: Force Sensitivity unknown
