I've always been garbage at thread titles. Fortunately, this one wasn't so difficult.

Like the title says, this is my farewell to the site. I'm not sure exactly what to say here, to be perfectly honest: and after 3 years of hanging around this place with all you losers, nerds and social rejects fine people I figured I'd have more to say when that day finally came when I did part company.

I suppose, in blunt terms, I've just grown distant and disinterested in the site over the past several months. That's due to a number of factors really, beginning with my lack of confidence as a writer caused by a recent string of disappointments and failures at trying to see my own visions to fruition, and a waning sense of interest in the overall direction of the site itself from a purely "IC" perspective. I don't mean to disparage anyone, nor am I fishing for placation (re: I'm a terrible writer), but I haven't felt entirely "at home" here since the beginning of this new timeline.

Certainly I have had my opinions, even shared them unashamedly when discussions cropped up, and I have stuck around through all the bitter arguing on the hope that things would change. And things have changed: debates have been had, points have been raised, rules have been assessed. Overall, the community as a whole has tried to make meaningful shifts, and we've come a long way since those first few eager steps a little over a year ago when this timeline first launched. And that's what makes my departure such a bitter pill to swallow, because at the end of the day it was no rule or member or disagreement that caused my interest to fade, but my own dwindling passion.

I have a little over a decade worth of "experience" to my credit when it comes to forum RPs, and even more experience to know when a hobby begins to feel like work. And once you cross that line, well...

So here I am, finally across that finish line I always knew was there, but was always hoping was just a little more distant. I can walk away though knowing that, despite the ups and downs, overall I did enjoy my time here. You folks are some of the most talented writers I've ever had the privilege of knowing, and it pains me to leave it all behind. But three years is a good run, nothing too shabby (at least in my opinion), and it is my profound hope that I was tolerable through at least some of it.

I guess that's it then. Pretty anti-climactic really. Huh...

This makes me very sad, but I more than understand the feelings of a hobby becoming work and the utter shanking that can give to motivation and muse. I hope that maybe one day you might find yourself renewed, and whether that comes in three months or three years I know that I for one will welcome your grumpy ass back with open arms.
